  1. One time payment with expansion packs that give longevity to the game yes (no dlc please, just new map/weapon/skin/vehicles packs) Yes, feedback improves games, we don't want rehashes of COD or battlefield, they're done to death. Likewise if the game became another stalker/metro it would be the same thing. It has to be unique yet bigger. Both, I live all the way down in Singapore and I have to host my own server which is incredibly expensive compared to prices in US where you can just buy slots and updates and software and support is instananeous. Server support on my end takes days to approve and update. Its rediculous even though we have fibreoptic internet, besides playing at 200ping vs 6ping. Its a BIG difference for pvp and the time it takes for zeds to fall over and die.

    Vehicle spawning?

It sounds like all of the vehicles on the server you use have been hoarded by a group. All I can suggest is finding the base and stealing them back. Or find a server where there's not so much hoarding.
  3. Hey fellow bandits, bandettes, survivors and surviv..ettes. I just had to ask something. I've been playing this game for less than a week and I've gotten the hang of most of the stuff. I'm not entirely sure if I'm a bandit or a survivor really, but as of yet I haven't met that many players to actually qualify as a bandit. The only time I did meet somebody we ended up shooting each other like crazy and I came out of that situation, barely alive, with a huge backpack, lots of gear and a tent. I also got a bandit kill. So, I felt pretty good about myself when I lived that through. But this topic is about vehicles. Because I've tried to find one. And I've been scouting almost every vehicle spawn spot up in the north that I've seen on the maps that I found on the dayzwiki. I've scouted for bicycles as well as helicopters, and everything in between. I haven't seen a single vehicle on this server I would call my "default" server. So I'm asking, is there a cap to how many vehicles spawn? So if a guy repairs a car, that takes that car away from the spawn list or whatever until it's destroyed? Or does it not respawn at all? I haven't understood the spawn mechanics of this game when it comes to vehicles and I'm not joking when I tell you that I've been running around half of the island with my backpack filled with parts to repair SOME vehicle. I've had to ditch several guns and other amazing loot due to being overpacked. So, what is there to do? How do I find a vehicle?

Base Defenses ( Document included )

I suggest keys/locks. You aren't thinking outside the box. Why the hell would a tent have a lock anyways? The lock would be on some sort of safe; a big ass safe or something similar and lockable and box-like, another reason i suggest a lock is that they can only destroy your tents with explosives and vehicles which are rarer than players stumbling across your shit. So I'm down with locks.

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

What? You're kidding right? This is just banditry under the name of justice. Don't tell me if you find a camp with no vehicles you aren't going to loot it. This makes me rage. You are going to piss so many survivors just doing their own thing, off. And what do you think they are going to think? "Oh! Its okay! They must have just thought we were bandits so they took our shit and left it on the beach! Such smart people in this game!" Rethink your plan, sheriff.

    US59 AZ2 Hacker Admin

To have all those vehicles and weapons in those tents, you didn't even attempt to hide anything. You have everything right out in the open, on flat ground. Not attempts from what I can tell to hide things behind trees or in any way whatsoever. You aren't very attached to this massive camp you have. Save face all you want. If you shut the server down once or several times as the OP says, you were doing some pretty fishy stuff and are a pretty shady admin.

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

true. I just wanted to see if you were a bandit in disguise lol, and where did my topic post say anything about shooting? ultimately thought the camps will be raided anyways why not give away the excess gear to the people without weapons and such. to some extend if your living in the north you've come acrossed tents and vehicles and likely taken a few things, if you were to take that stuff you left behind in the extra vehicles to the coast you could be part of a solution or atleast trying to make a difference instead of being impartial.
  8. Like Eve, there is no end-game, only a late-game, which anyone can reach at anytime regardless of experience or game time. (due to having connections with others in the late-game) The late-game in this is chaotic unless you're just sitting on your ass, and even then you can wake up to a pillaged camp with some vehicles missing and the rest blown up.

[DayZMod] Do you have an API?

Easiest way to maintain environment security and central database performance is to do data pushes to a mirror server/cloud host. (begin ramble) E.g. public do not connect to the main db, the main db has a cronjob (if linux) or scheduled task (windows) that runs every hour. When it runs it pushes a dump of the data (excl: xxx inventories (players, tents, vehicles, etc)) to a cloud host or beefy load balanced web cluster (to handle the load of potentially half a million people * 32 (lots of fat to allow for some people doing uncached, dynamic signatures on busy forums, posting popular threads)). The format of the data could be csv, xml, etc to allow for off server processing (thus reducing the load on the server as most load a game stats server would see would be database transactional load caused by queries) I know this is a hell of an ask (and I am expecting to be shot down, flame grilled to death and put on a kabab by the community) is it at all possible for the community to be provided with the database schema (e.g. structure) and example data (or real data with the squishy bits removed) with the purpose of encouraging someone to develop a dump script (obviously as plain text or as a binary with source code for all binary elements for obvious reasons...) thus lightening the load on the devs/encouraging community participation? (/end ramble) My question is kinda vague as I don't know how it all is stored (al be it flat file (plausible), sqlite, mysql/mssql (most likely), oracle (plausible but unlikely), some unknown propriety format, etc)

    I play DayZ to Roleplay

You have 10 minutes from now 1:54AM EST to list as many games as possible that include Open world. Unrestricted competitive PvP. Realistic weapons and authentic combat simulation. Vehicles. Zombies. Go. I dare you. Now, my turn. Here are the games that include cooperative zombie killing without all that pesky military equipment, PvP and open-worldlieness: Dead Island Left 4 Dead Resident Evil Dead Rising Chernarus Apocalypse That was just 10 seconds. How did I do? Maybe you're the one playing the wrong game?
  11. ZedsDeadBaby

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

Yes! Too right! Because survivors totally just give their vehicles away to random people on the street out of the kindness of their hearts. People are just so cute sometimes with this stuff.

    Vehicle Spawning?

They never came back. Sorry for the delay. I was really asking if there were hacks/scripts out there that could spawn those vehicles. Before making assumptions. I made a judgement call for the security of my server that I pay for. I want it to be fun place for people to enjoy themselves on. As for my friend, no. He didn't want to take the vehicle because he figured if it were hacked it could some how bug his character. (stranger things have happened). Anyways, have a good night fellas.
  13. My friend and I have begun our war on bandits, but we cant do it alone. Rocket has stated that if you don't like the rampant pvp and banditry that we must do something about it and police ourselves. While we cannot completely eliminate it, nor should we try to. We can however make it a whole lot more difficult for them. Our take on this, is to attempt to level the playing field. Basically this is achieved by simply Griefing the griefers. Searching for camps and packing as much of the gear that we dont want or need into the often camp provided bandit vehicles. Followed by running over the tents and driving the vehicles down to the southern beach. Saving and abanddoning these vehicles for any new spawns to use as they see fit and hopefully giving them a chance to fight back. Cut the bandit off from his stockpile of supplies and he's going to find it difficult to just lay on a hill outside of cherno, stary, electro, and NWAF right? The problem is that with there being only 2 of us we will never make much of a dent so we invite anyone who would like to help us in this quest to do so.We don't mean to team up and don't need to know you but if enough people are doing this it may just help...... Also yes this does indeed put our own camp at risk but it's better that our gear supplies a new spawn a means of defence, rather then just fueling more bandits as it currently will. The easiest way to identify bandit camps is vehicle hoarding. They may also be clan/group camps.... But many clans/groups are just organized bandits and griefers. keyword: "many" Also while some of the camps maybe legitimate survivors trying to stock up we apologize. Although look at it this way your gear may save the life of an honest survivor from the dick-in-ass coast camping bastards. For those that would say im "butthurt" from being killed by bandits. My current character has survived 15 days and we have only started doing this because of the complaints here in the forums. I'm not bragging and, do not have the best gear by any means but, I can see in the dark...and the bandit camps will provide what I need lol. We are doing this because we want to try and change things/feel like it. Our own story right? Those that would say this is just another form of griefing. YOUR RIGHT thats the point. But it's much better then shooting your face on the coastline because im bored/an asshole. Any attempts to rid our lands of blood thirsty idiots should be welcomed and are better then just crying about losing your precious makarovs/beans to them on the forums. Your camps will be found and robbed eventually anyways. What are you doing about it? TL;DR: Go find Bandit camps Take what you want/need. pack the rest of their crap into their vehicles and drive that shit to the coast and drop it off. A bandit without supplies cant camp a beach allday, and a new spawn with helicopter loot can shoot bandits back. Grief the griefers lol. TROLLS: Hey there anonymous internet dick tasters! I know you don't care what I think, keep in mind it's mutual. Go eat a bullet and remove youselves from the gene pool please. lol <---- Use this as a generic response to any and all wastes of: text, gifs, jpegs, etc., and time. Go fuck youselves. Thank you. .l.. ..l.

    Hacker US38 Texas

Um, really? One, you didn't post any proof, and your post is just full of rage. Two, anyone can find tents especially if you are using a hotspot that most people know about. Alot of people tend to use the West side of the map, as those roads run out all the way to the edge of the map, allowing you to easily run your off map vehicle to an off map location. Grozovy Pass and the road past Kamenka to the West are both highly used by plenty of "new" players to DayZ. Other hotspots are up North along the "offmap" Mountains where plenty of people put tents, vehicles, etc. that stick out like the broadside of a barn. Not to mention, if you weren't conspicuous with your vehicle movement or player movement, anyone that is highly geared along the coast or up North around the edges of the map WILL follow you. If you used any of the highways, especially down South you were just asking for trouble. Yes, hackers do exist, but don't blame everything on hackers. If you were flushed from your spot for instance, it's VERY easy for anyone to track you, especially if they have an ATV or some sort of fast vehicle like a Motorcycle.

    Dropping this "newbie" video here!

Nice ^^ but my favorite video was the one on a forum post called "Abandoned Vehicles" in the Suggestions forum. I can't explain it, I just wish the game had some of those props that just enhance the game feeling. I guess that really doesn't have anything to do with this :C
  16. U.B.C.S. Ravin

    Hacker US38 Texas

There are a few hacks that give up locations of tents and vehicles. I have found having a vehicle is often more of a problem then anything else.
  17. We're constantly raiding camps that keep respawning on server boots and we don't get to keep any of the gear because it all disappears from our vehicles on server boots. We also know the location of a tent that keeps respawning an L85 AWS so we can basically pick one up whenever someone dies.

spawning tents and vehicles must be code for: Barracks loot. Stupid cunts.
  19. Just about all of em have been gone for awhile... did they all get name changes? I do notice a ton more US ### servers. Or are they all just behind with the new updates? Quite sad as I had plenty of vehicles/tents on several of these servers.

    My Idea's

For those of you that value your eyeballs, here's a transcript of the ideas. For fun, and justification of why I hate his guts. 1) Remove vehicles 2) Nerf bandits 3) Select your spawn location 4) Safe zone NW of NWA 5) Missions / Build camps and barricades 6) Host our own servers (???) INTERLUDE: F*ck bandits, go back to CoD a) Fix all the bugs, don't use ArmA engine B) Add cooking timer, food poisoning, fishing c) Dig caves/trenches/holes to trap people (sort of contradicts the whole "fuck bandits" theme) d) Add global chat back e) Build shelters / traps f) Crafting / Fire arrows g) Horses h) Climb trees i) Start with pistol j) Radios are useless, everyone uses Skype anyway (so... global chat is still out?) k) Offline servers, cheats/hackers allowed INTERLUDE: I have so many ideas lol NEW THEME: Hardcore servers! a) No HUD B) Get colder quicker in rain c) More zombies - in woods and cities CONCLUSION Lol DayZ owns BF3 People don't post ideas because they're scared of criticism PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE ENDING YAAAY (Second Post) Correct, I do not respect your opinion. Mainly because I think you made this topic while high on some strong dope. Also because you look like an albino Scumbag Steve.

    US53 - Server Thread

Vehicles that remain unused for a short period of time (<=24h) outside map boundary now respawns inside map boundary at their original chance based spawn points. Also a quick 24h notice. If you have tents hidden outside of map in the green acres- be sure to pickup your gear now as those tents will now be swept away by the strong winds of those wide plains. (NON RP reason: no you shouldnt be building bases hidden outside of map boundaries, tents and items outside of map boundary will now be removed on regular basis.) -------------------------------------------------- I'm not saying this is the problem for you, But im reposting it so u can read it.

    Vehicle Spawning?

did u destryoy the vehicles and all the equipment or does ur friend now own a new car? also i find it highly concerning that an admin can kick people and take or destroy their cars just because he thinks they are hacking w/o any real evidence.
  24. Ransom (DayZ)

    My short list

    1. Sound for doors opening and closing. 2. Team or squad markings. In real life you would recognize the people with you it be nice to have it in game some how. BUT - something not obvious so that at a distance players still have to identifiy themselves to their friends (always tense trying to meet with someone). 3. An easier trade system between players. 4. A white flag emote for friendlies, of course you can still kill them but I like the clear communication of the act. Maybe you cant hold a weapon while holding the flag. And it doesnt have to be an item, in real life its a t-shirt, sock, whatever. 5. Melee weapons! I know there is probably another post but melee weapons need their own slot, the intventory gymnastics to pulling out an axe is silly. 6. Some way to punish people disconnecting during pvp. Maybe a "your in combat" set up so players have to finish combat or they can't be bleeding when they log. 7. IED- put random items to use by making improvised explosives. Im not really intrested in vehicles but if I could make some fire bombs with some of the same items it be cool. 8. More skins. Thanks, Love the Game :)
  25. I'm sure this will be flamed and forgotten, as it is similar to class suggestions, but I figure I'll post it anyhow. In real life, everyone is not an expert marksman, hunter, gatherer, mechanic, etc. How about letting players choose specializations when they spawn? If you are good at fixing cars, maybe that bandit won't kill you right away; at least not until you fix his ride, anyway. This doesn't mean a player is totally inept at all tasks, but just better at some. Maybe normal players could fix vehicles to 75% health, or have 25% worse accuracy with an assault rifle. Maybe a specialized hunter can carve more steaks out of a sheep. A few suggestions: * Gatherer: more loot spawns for you. * Mechanic: Able to repair vehicles to 100% health * Marksman: more accurate with weapons * Health Nut: Thirst/Hunger meter depletes slower (give your beans to friends) * Medic: Ability to splint broken legs and give more effective blood transfusions * Hunter: harvest more meat from animals. I don't think this would give anyone an unfair advantage over others, and it could be enough to keep people from shooting on sight. From a coding standpoint, I don't see how it would be terribly difficult to implement. As an added bonus, players could learn specializations as well. Killing things improves marksmanship, gutting animals improves hunting, waiting the right amount of time before eating improves metabolism, etc.
