Server Blood of Britain Hacked by player "Jamie"
Frenzy replied to Longs's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was in one of those groups and we had a camp of several vehicles and tents set up on your server. We lost an awful lot of stuff from not only people getting killed during the mass killing but also all of the vehicles and tents were removed. We have since moved server and have a camp with a few vehicles set up on another server now so it is unlikely we would come back and I realise it isn't your fault that this happened. The hacking is ruining the game for players like us who like to set up on a single server. -
Isn't it possible that other players have them hidden at their camps? I've always heard that each server only spawns a certain number of each vehicle type so if everyone finds them and tucks them away somewhere then that means no more vehicles at their original spawn points. I'm not saying this is a sure thing, just a thought. I know the group I play with never seems to find a vehicle at an actual spawn point, its always way out in the wilderness with lots of loot stored in it.

Biggest/best camp you've found so far?
osirish replied to mind_grenade's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been involved in building big camps. I've been involved in raiding camps too. If you think that's a big haul, there are ones out there a lot lot bigger. I've had three large camps I was involved in building raided simultaneously, and all our vehicles found/stolen/destroyed, by just 2 players in the space of 2 hours. With the current state of the alpha, camps are just like your personal equipment. Don't get attached. Fun to build and stock, but in the long run, they'll be discovered, destroyed, or bugged to death. Same with vehicles. Yesterday, I did a little exploring and discovered 3 small camps in just a few hours. Obviously the personal stashes of small groups of players, maybe no more than 2 or 3 strong. Rather than raiding or destroying, I used them to restock, taking nothing that would indicate that they had been found. I'll be using them for restocking when fresh respawning on the coast from now on ... or at least until I am discovered, or someone else finds and destroys them. I prefer being a ninja to being a bulldozer. -
Wait you're complaining that people hoard vehicles at the very same time that your group is attempting to hoard vehicles? Brilliant flow of logic there.

Whoever was at NW Airfield firestation with ghillie suit...
Squirreli replied to vanden1989's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Due to a bug all tents and vehicles dupe gear -> a lot more elite gear to go around all the time... As far as I know, if you don't save a tent/vehicle in this build, once server restarts, the tent/vehicle will revert to the original inventory it had when last saved. I keep finding these tent villages that are most of the time full of gear. Luckily there is a new build around the corner <3 ... Remember to empty and save all tents you encounter ;) -
Are Hackers only seen by PVPer's?
grezvany13 replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The truth is; every single cheater/hacker/scripter is one too many. The biggest problem is that most people have no idea what the difference is... Right now we see a lot of no-lifers who use scripts to get more then the game would allow, like top-grade weapons, vehicles and other stuff which aren't even a part of the DayZ mod (see this a lot!). Lately there are also a lot of reports of players who use scripts/cheats to teleport players, or kill them instantly while on the other side of the map (not yet seen myself, but YT has enough proof). Real hackers (who "hack" into the computers/server) aren't in DayZ or any other game, DDOS-attackers at most. And another fact; the more we cry about those kids, the more they like it and the less we enjoy our game... So let's play some DayZ and don't worry about your beans (too much). Have fun! -
I dont mind ideas being thrown in randomly matey, i just enjoy developing ideas XD I remember having a similiar discussion bout this on that electric grid thread (i think) i saw ye posting on XD I think if groups were at the point that they were exercising this level of control over facilities, or for example the police station/prison. Then they would at least have to have the capacity to effectively "clear" the surrounding areas of zeds, and some how enabling some mechanic which prevented zeds spawning (once an area had been fortified or such n such conditions met) although this is looking at the game from a point of view were zombie spawns are much higher, and also hordes of zeds have been introduced. so although you clear an area out, zombies for the various reasons of attraction (noise, movements inside or to and from the base) accumulates ALOT of zeds. And i think this is something that should apply to peeps own customized forts/base building far away from towns. So you always have a flow of zeds piling up at the gates and walls. I think the Police stations structural integrity would be sound, and i think yea there would have to be some kind of lockable door (boltable from the inside) which would also give extra security but still not completely prevent the ambitions of a wannabe terminator. But any extra fortifications, would be built at the groups discretion, whether they wanted to extend this out to wall off a "car park" or block off a street and create an entrance (maybe suitable for either people or vehicles), is dependable on the groups size, preference, interests, and possible threats from other groups setting up (maybe within the same town). I think anywhere peeps set up forts or control over areas should attract zombies, as it very much constantly maintains the apocalyptic nature of the world you have to balance your activities with :)

Beeing able to flip vehicles back on their wheels
Sol (DayZ) replied to Axwell's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have this problem as well. Search yielded only this result, for this predicament. I presume the "use search broksi" thread has since been removed. What's the situation here? Do vehicles flip back over on server restart? Is using a car-flip-script "legal"? Is it just fucked, so forget about it? Cheers in advance. ~Sol -
[SAS] Clan and Admin, US 700. Jets, Helis, Invincibility (Video Inside)
paradox87 replied to Elden's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You'd think if they were gonna hack in vehicles and fly them around throughout the day they would be smart enough to disable nameplates.. what a pack of morons. Ban away. -
This is why i never used a tent before and i never will, vehicles fortunatly can save my stuff, so i'm using it for now
-
You both are really stupid or somewhat retarded, I keep having to repeat myself. Server is set to restart every so often while I am out or away, Admins cannot spawn items or vehicles as the only commands they have is Kick & Ban, Speaking of Clowns, I already said, your comments/suggestions are not accounted for as you are no way related to this thread. Innocent until proven guilty, we have done nothing wrong, the only issue is the fact that you shot at us, server crashed a few minutes later, and you expect that it was us to blame, when you can't even provide proof of your accusations. If you cannot make proper accusations with genuine proof, don't make any at all because its wasting everyones time.

It was 4:00 AM both server time and in real time. I was tired, both physically and mentally, as i swept the fields just southeast of NWAF. In almost pitch black darkness, i hustled up the steep slope to my right, hoping to find the enterance to the airfield. Alas, my luck was not so good. There was a "friend" of mine, so to speak. We teamed up 30 minutes ago and were moving together like true survivalists. One would cover the other during a bounding move from cover to cover. One would take shots from afar, not alerting a horde of walkers, while another silently made their way through, making an attempt at anywhere big enough to hold loot. It was 5 minutes since he/she last logged off. Their final words to me "Brb, sammich is done". I chuckled, as my hunger was orange, and without any food in sight, i was worrying about slowly dying. I crested the hill to see what seemed like a field set ablaze. Road flares were everywhere. In the middle of this madness there were 3 vehicles, 2 Gaz's and a bus. Curiously, i took out my binoculars and reconned the area. The distance between me and the vehicles was at least 1000 meters, if not more. I assumed i was safe from the 10+ men and women scattering around setting up shop. But it was the soft patter of large caliber rounds landing right in front of my face to remind me that sniper rifles still exist. I dashed for the nearest cover; a low-lying stone barricade. Again, more shots, these not as soft, due to the stone. I poked my head up, only to hear a bullet whiz by and hit a tree. Either the man was an amazing marksman, or i couldnt locate the muzzle flashes. Thats when "that was the most amazing ham&cheese ive ever had "appeared in the direct comms chat". After telling him/her the situation, we both decide to use our practiced bounding/cover technique. Very slowly we advanced from cover to cover until we were 500 meters from the trucks. Now we were in rifle range. Just then 3 or 4 of the bandits lit up my friend, sending him into a slow spiral of blood loss and death. Thankfully, he died withing looting range, and though i hated the fact i was now using my ex-ally's dead corpse as a means of survival, it payed off. He had not one, but two M67 grenades, along with roadflares. The ones lit previously by the bandits had long faded. The only sources of light were the vehicles, which the bandits had so warmingly aimed at me, and the sporadic muzzle flashes. I knew i had to find and kill at least one of the guys, to make sure my comrade's death was not in vain. So i revealed my position and flung the road flares far into the woods, highlighting enemy snipers. I knew there would be no survival, and alt-f4 would just prove to everyone (who by this time knew my name) that i was a coward. I would go down fighting. Armed with an Enfield, a makarov, 2 frags, and a few roadflares, i quickly launched one of the frags into an enemy group only 30 or so meters away. No dead, but i saw two men who lost a severe amount of blood. Suddenly another group opened up from my right flank and my cover became even less safe. i threw another frag at the group of two. Two kills. Now i knew there were at least 8 more remaining. Then the crack of a heavy sniper echoed through my headset. The bullet just barely missed me. At this point i was about 750 meters from the other group. I picked up an AK and one more frag from the two dead bodies, and blindly opened fire at the larger group flanking me. No kills. Then, i saw the flash of the sniper who had been taking pot shots at me for nearly 30 minutes now. I opened fire, expending the last of my ammo. It was dark, but after the final burst, i knew i had at least stopped him from firing, hopefully incompacitating him. Just then the large group split off into 3 groups. two flanked right, two flanked left, and three went right towards me These clearly werent your average run-of-the-mill players. But i was no greenhorn when it came to shooters. Having only 3 mags for my makarov, i fired into the group on my right, which would have forced me to move from cover out into the open. I hit no one. They were around 400 meters and closing, with the other two groups even closer. One of them had a lmg and was putting a lead curtain at head height. The only way i knew where they were was by using 3rd person mode and peeking over cover. I fired my last two mags into the group on my right, injuring both but not killing them. Were it not for it being night, i would have been dead long ago, but to my luck, it was tar black. Apparently they did either not realize or forgot that gamma and brightness all the way up can at least show you basic details of the landscape. I was out of ammo except for the hatchet i had picked up WAAAY back in Cherno and the one frag. I just had to bide my time and wait for them to get close enough. finally, the middle group was in range. I threw as best i could, but i threw a little to high. It blew up in air. Right about head height on them. 1 more kill. But midway through, between release and explosion, i found out the sniper i thought i killed earlier was indeed still alive, and put a bullet right into my arm. I was down for the count. It was a sad ending really. I was left laying down as the remaining 6 or so bandits ran up to me. After realizing i was bleeding profusely, they took my cans out of my patrol pack, restocked ammo, tended to their wounded, and drove off. And there i was. Just counting down the seconds till death. It gave me a moment to reflect on what an epic struggle i had endured. i was proud that, even though i died, i managed to do more harm to them, costing them a little under half of their group, and wounding 3 of their guys. I never did meet my ally again. But i do agree that it was his/her supplies that kept me going for so long. 2 minutes after the last speck of headlight had vanished, my character had finally bled his last drop of blood, and died. ~Supplice VI~

I'm going to ask now...how many people do you have in your group, and do you REALLY need two cars? I don't mean to tell you how to play but it just seems as if two is a bit excessive. Vehicles in servers are hard enough to get and you're going to deprive somebody of having one? I dunno, maybe it's just me being a whiny bitch. Either way, this is certainly why don't hang around in vans.

New Server Owner, 2 quick questions....
[email protected] replied to vintsurf's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It will normaly happen around midnight or early hours GMT time. IF you just rented it a few hours ago it will probably be a few days before this happens. Just get preped if your part of clan get stuff ready like car wheels lots of car parts etc. Virgin servers are alot of fun as there is vehicles everywhere :) -
gonna guess this is highly frowned upon for admins to lock their servers after restarts so their clan can loot all heli crashes and move all vehicles to their camps... if it IS highly frowned upon, and is obviously only used for such purposes, then why is it allowed? its one thing to lock your server for testing (what exactly you need to be testing im not sure, since theres not a lot of options for admins anyways), but its a bit ridiculous for some of the most stable servers (the ones people flock to) to be locked for the public while clans gather up all the goodies so that nobody else can have them, so that they can feel pro after they kill someone with an L85AW who was wielding a pistol. and no, im not raging, i havent died in the past few days (other than an unfortunate incident between me and a door -.- ), it just seems that if you want the community to do better, you should begin shutting down or placing warnings on servers whose admins are clearly douchebags. and yes, i get that there are a bajillion servers, and that you just dont have the time, but there are trustworthy longtime (relatively) dayz players who are willing to police the game for you. my recommendation, have a forum called "reporting douches" with two threads, one for reporting the names of hackers, and one for reporting servers whose admins are doing trashy stuff, like locking the server after restarts, or banning people for killing their clan members. and of course you cannot just trust anyone who posts, but when enough people mention the same names... yeah

You can use the forums to arrange bounty's on bandits, I think it's been done. As mentioned above there is no currency... which may prove difficult in paying someone for their skills. If you want a certain bandit killed, post it on the forum offering nice guns, vehicles, jet-packs. Whatever you want to give to see your bandit in the dirt. Someone will take-up your offer, or die trying.

LOL. Actually, it's quite funny you ask if we recorded it, because yes, we did. We initially logged into your server because the server we had been playing on was hacked (Battleships and Abrams all over the place, US 328) and we had been summoned and killed. Fortunately, the tents respawned on the next server restart so we took what we could carry and migrated to a server that also had a similar time offset (yours). We brought tents and all our supplies with us and simply set up our camp in the same position as the old camp, that's why we had gear. Secondly, we were enjoying the "clan war". I spotted the white offroad truck at its spawn point (redacted, I won't give your camp away, if you're still there.) and called all my guys to come help me repair it. As I was clearing all the loot spawns in the factory to get all the parts necessary to get it running, I ran into two of your members in the long barn located ever so slightly to the southwest, and they shot me down. We then had a ~30 minute standoff with you guys that resulted in all of us being killed except me on my new character. Luckily, I spawned at Kamenka and had the sense to check the Bicycle spawn next to the lighthouse so I could get back to the action ASAP. While you guys messed with the white truck, I decided since there were ~5 of you there, your tents must be nearby and decided to go due West of where you entered the tree line, and imagine my surprise when I found your blue Van parked right in the trees. Armed with the encouragement that I was right about your stuff being nearby, I continued to scout every dense spruce grove nearby (GOSH! who would think tents might be there?!) and found your 5 tent camp. Despite seeing your two ATVs, Bizons, and more, I just took the GPS to mark your coordinates, and a Kobra to get home safely and I returned to my camp to regear. Later, I snuck back down and grabbed an ATV to pick up my clanmates and regear quickly, and we ran into you again (actually I literally ran into one of you, with your van!). When we regrouped, I led my team to each of the Ural spawn points until we finally found it. By this time it was fairly late in the evening, and they logged out (after quite a few firefights with both your clan and other players). My squad was actually somewhat bummed out that we had lost so much gear (even though we could replace it) that I decided to handle things myself. I ran the 30 minutes each way all by myself and went back to your camp. I tend to stick to tree lines when I run places as it allows me the best vision of potential camps and vehicle hideaways, and I got rather fortunate to find the same above-mentioned white truck parked in a single spruce tree near the edge of the map. I then systematically drove each of your vehicles from your camp back to our camp, and raided your tents for some basic supplies (mainly food and drink, and one more kobra, since you didn't have much we needed.) The next day, we noticed your "We Have received suspicious activity of hackers!" admin-speak had become more prevalent, and realized you were referring to us. Frankly, we were annoyed, so we decided to drive the Ural to your base, that's what knocked the trees down, not C4. If you notice, I drove a fairly clean cut path from the center of your camp all the way back to the road. I'm also rather proud of the huge circle we flattened in your camp, it takes a lots of patience to drive in a circle like that for 10 minutes. (Evidence of the Ural, our team, and the circle here! http://imgur.com/a/Vj9yp)To address your concern of how we knew it was you, we have played the game before. When we were en route to the camp, we don't sit and twiddle our thumbs. I drive, one person watches the players screen to see how many of you are in game, and the rest scan for movement in the trees. We knew it was your base from watching you come and go, and you were the only member of your clan who was in game and then suddenly out as you were being shot at next to your tents. I'd love to see what proof of "scripting" you have, in fact I believe the mods would too, as we already contacted DayZ Shawn a few hours ago and he was none too pleased to hear about your admin abuse. Learn to play the game, or at least learn how to be an impartial server admin. Good day sirs. - [RD] Randiesel

Agreed with that one. One thing that would happen with vehicles is people coming straight from the coast (on a pushbike) to raid the barracks for weapons. More traffic is good traffic.

So understanding the current vehicle spawn system, something does seem to be a bit off. 99% of servers i come across, there is not a vehicle in sight. Now I have come across a few while playing (and several on one server which had an old beta), however the current number of vehicles on each server seems rather low. Now the if we had the current number of vehicles, and only 40 people on the server (all time, not just logged in at once), this would be fine. However, it seems that with the large player base, unless you find a server that is brand new, your chances of finding even a broken down vehicle are extremely slim (you find more crashed helos for example) So to change this, keep the current despawn mechanics, but incorporate regular spawns for vehicles based upon teir. For example: Shit tier: tractors, Pushbikes - Spawn every 1-3 days Low Tier: Civilian cars, Bus - Spawn every 3-5 days Mid tier: Offroad vehicles, motorcycles and quadbikes. - Spawn every 5-7 days High Tier: Helicopters etc - Every 7 to 14 days. Tweaking this so that more broken down vehicles spawn would mean that factories etc become more interesting to players. What may be needed later however (to control server lag due to item number) is a hardcoded limit on how many vehicles of each type there are on the server. Random placement would also help stop people bouncing around servers looking for vehicle spawns. My opinion on the issue of vehicles being overly rare is most likely to the tendency for people to get a vehicle and hide it, rather than actually using it alot of the time.

Starting dayz mission automatically after restart

I guess spawntimer resets during a restart but already spawned vehicles stay on their places and don't despawn. -> But I really dont know it exactly. -
[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
ScottyTheEngineer replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
1. What is the average life expectancy of a vehicle (from the time being driven for the first time until it is despawned/destroyed)? 2. What is the share of the vehicle's life where it is actually used (driven)? 3. How long do vehicles remain at their spawning locations? Thanks! -

The appearance of vehicles depends on the time the server is running (I've read in another thread). -
Vehicles... Are there even any?
Womb Raider replied to Bairhanz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are vehicles, quite a few of them. But they are either scooped out quickly by players or abandoned. -
Best place to make a Camp Solo?
harken (DayZ) replied to stinkyghost's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look at one of the maps that have all the looting options (like the dayz db one), including deer stands, vehicles etc. Now look at all the places on the map that have no loot, no landmarks. Now consider how often players will pass through those quiet locations getting from loot point A to B. Now come to understand every other player is thinking along the same lines as you. Now, with all this in mind, pick a spot. What I'm suggesting to you, if you don't already know is to pick a spot that isn't obvious in any way, ideally close to some low yield crappy loot location no serious player would visit, like one of the small towns with a few houses and no barns. Find a few big tree's near one of those places and make a camp. You can also put a tent inside a tree if you are patient. When my friends hunt for camps, they hunt up north and near cities and landmarks like Dubina peak etc. I've never heard of them going to a crappy little town and searching the forests in a 500m circle around it. Hope this helps.
