Ok for years I have conceptualized my dream zombie game and this comes pretty close which is amazing just a few suggestions that I hope get added. 1. Some sort of ghillie netting that allows you to cover your vehicles making them almost unnoticeable from a distance. 2. Some way to show/gain/get trust from people, playing dayz there is nothing more I want that not feeling the need to blow someone's brains out everytime I see them, just saying friendly doesn't get any trust, not sure how to do this part to be fair, I suppose the beauty of dayz is you have a semi sandbox style game to take what you will (me personally am hoping to set up a trade outpost for people to come trade items i.e engine parts for things like food etc, we all need what others have got, obviously id have some friends with snipers with a clear headshot lined up for any funny business) 3. A party/gang system, you make buddies you want to add them to your party so you can just chat to your party and even respawn nearer to them (obviously disable party respawn if zombies and other non party players are nearby) 4. Equally to number 3 having custom spawn areas like barricading up a house somewhere and then it is your "safehouse" 5.As just suggested in 4 possibly having doors being barricade able and breakable (zombies smash through doors rather than opening/glitching through) I have many more thoughts and suggestions as well but for now lets hope this games becomes more amazing, time for me to sign out because im trying to get my hands on two ATV's.

There are 2 of us at the moment, just looking for vehicles and good loot. We have pretty good gear and are looking for a couple more people, preferably from the uk and half decent gear. Just leave your skype. Must have mic. Also we are near the top north east corner of the map, so the closer you are the better.

we me and my two friends massy and edel went was scouting and found the ultimate dayz haul 100 guns ! every type of gun in the game camo blood bags nightvision goggles everything in multiples this was just in the tents then when we checked the truck loooooool one of the things about this find though is groups/clans shouldnt be able to stockpile this amount of ammo guns and other items . how can random people compete with people who just have 25 of everything and just hide all the vehicles and dont even use them .

So my friend died, respawned in electro and decided to meet up with me to reclaim what little I could collect from his dead body at the NWAF. A long, boring run later, I hit Balota Airfield, or atleast I stopped just 800 meters from it. I sit around, watching zombies and fresh spawns tackle each other on the strip and generally listen to the .50cal snipers trying very poorly to claim a kill from them. After a few minutes, the gunfire lets up, and my friend tells me he is nearby with a double barrel shotgun and is coming to me. We'll call him Araon. So Araon makes his way across a large open field and heads to me, against my wishes (note the snipers I mentioned). But luckily for him, nothing was thrown his way, and he made it to me unharmed. As he dug around in my backpack, looking for his M4A1 CCO, I hear an odd noise. I look up and scan the area, "What the f*** is that?" I ask into my mic, before noticing the answer was less than a second away. On the road was a bus, with a motorcycle escort. "Holy s***, a bus!" I screamed, bringing my AKM to my face and putting out 30 rounds in semi-auto, hitting the bus more than a few times. My buddy scattered into the tree line, in a mix of confusion and adrenaline. He didn't fire, but instead headed for the road to see if the bus had stopped. It did not. He regrouped, scanned the area quickly, with little regard towards our lives, and when I noticed the noise was heading away I decided to give chase. First we ran through the trees, looking for any hint that the mobile goldmine might have stopped, but when we were met with little more than zombies I decided to quickly head back up into the trees and head for the next town. The journey was quick, and full of me cursing my inability to hit the bus's wheels. As we hit Kamenka, I noted from the hill that there were zombies moving around. And then I spotted the roof of the bus, roughly 600 meters away. I raised my rifle, reported the position to my comrade, and proceeded to fire off another 26-28 rounds from my AKM. The bus disappeared out of sight, signalling that I once again had missed my prey. But stuborn as I was, I raced down the hill in an attempt to corner those fleeing. We swept around and checked a nearby road to make sure the bus hadn't fled the coast, and when we spotted zero zombies by a nearby building, I knew they were still nearby. I was a bit angry, as I no longer heard the noise of the bus, and told Araon that any loss of the bus would be his fault. (He never fired on it). At that point we heard gunfire, but was unable to pin down the location. We couldn't tell if the owners of the bus were firing at us, or taking fire from someone else, either way, we'd find out soon enough. We ran through the woods a short distance and found a small clearing, and stopped to give Araon a blood transfusion. "If they get away, I blame you." I said with a slight frown. Once the transfusion was done, I looked around, trying to see if I could spot the bus in the distance. I could not. I was almost done when I spotted a hint of white along the road, near a pack of trees. I pulled out my binocs and seen a pleasurable sight. The bus roof was shining through the spaces between the trees. I ordered Araon to get ready as we moved to the trees, and ordered him to both stand his ground and fire on any targets that he seen. Once he seemed to understand that, I gave one last order, "If you need to reload, do it from behind the trees." He had a bad habit of standing in front of his targets, I hoped he'd listen this time. His death at the NWAF had come from sitting in the open, taking another player's M4 to his face. So we hit the road, spotting the parked bus and the nearby motorcycle. Without even needing to look around, I seen a man by the name of Mark standing near the bus. He hadn't seen us, and this would be his downfall. "Middle of the road, take him out." I fired 3 rounds from my AKM, then scanned the area for other targets as my comrade openned up with his M4A1. No additional targets were spotted, and when I noticed Mark twitching on the ground I pumped 2 more rounds into him, ending his life. I ducked into the tree line, hitting the other side. I expected to see any number of hidden targets, and instead I see Araon run infront of me. I nearly placed half a mag into his butt, when he reported his location. Then I spot something out in the corner of my screen. "Friendly Medic, does anyone need assistance?" Are you kidding me? I turn to see a person with MEDIC clearly visible in the middle of their name, freaking standing in the road looking directly at me. Without a gun, I judged the target to not be a threat, though he could easily be sending information to whomever might still remain. But as I swept my gun around I noticed the nearby zombies were frozen in place. I switched back to the medic and told him, "Combat zone, please leave" and watched him haul tail away, taking no time to look back. My buddy asked why we couldn't shoot him, but I repeated what I had said many, many times before, "No gun, no target." Meaning in my own special way, that a person without a gun is not a threat in the present tense, and wasting ammunition on them could give away your position. We checked the surrounding area, and found nothing more than the Bus, a Motorcycle, and the body of Mark, as well as a rabbit stuck in a tree, and a zombie stuck in place, crawling near a downed tree (pine, looked like it had been taken out with explosives, or maybe the bus rammed it?). But the things we found on the body were a little disheartening for Araon. We found Mark was carrying nearly no weapons (a PDW with almost no ammunition), but held a coyote backpack filled with medical supplies. As I hadn't seen the medic even get near the corpse, I assumed that this wasn't a clan, or small group of ill-prepared bus owners, but that we had just hit a Medic Escort... Today we took home a bus, which only had engine damage... Well, until Araon decided to try to blow out the tires and hit the fuel tank, which burned it to a husk. And a motorcycle, which is now abandoned at a poorly hidden camp. We claimed a coyote backpack and a ton of medical supplies. But I have to ask, did I kill a medic's guard, or did I kill some random defender of a bus, and a medic happened by? Server was US1180. Happened today, in the evening. Sure, not the best story, but whatever. Outside of stealing vehicles from camps and killing random people in the woods, my days are pretty boring.

look for vehicles or heli crash sites. AKM with 4 mags is far from "geared up" btw.

Legitimate Victimization Thread / AKA Legitimate Bandits/Sociopaths
Cool Sam replied to Cool Sam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I digress, the thread is/was geared for others to share their perverse tales. Apologies if it does not agree with your sensible palate. No need for personal attacks, sir. A bullet spent on a slave is not a wasted resource, and a kill count is an arbitrary distraction. The thrill of the hunt is what counts. Bearing that in mind, a small story. We captured two slaves last night. Lucky catch really. Drove along Cherno in the Slave Wagon...found two fresh spawns running along the coast. All their running and racket caught the attention of nearby Zeds. We did what any sensible slavers would do, we feigned rescue. "You guys sure are lucky we found you when we did." "Holy shit thanks. Where are we going?" the slave asked. "Taking you to our base. Get you guys geared." So we drove back to Bolota, parked in Hangar 1. We slavers always feel its proper to at least give our newest acquisitions a fair and honest rundown of their disposition once they're in our possession. "We have good news and bad news. The good news is that you're alive and in our care. The bad news is that you're our slaves and we will not hesitate to kill you for disobedience. We'll fix you up, and if you're good, you'll be fed and watered. If you're bad..." Our driver tends to be a little rough on our vehicles and we do our best to maintain them to the best of our ability. Sometimes this necessitates checking the suspension. "Lay on the ground. Both of you." The slaves laid parallel to one another. The vehicle purred back to life and promptly rolled over our slave's legs, breaking them. "You have a choice, crawl to away into uncertainty or stay here...to dance." Neither crawled away. After a quick patch, they were up dancing to 'Kung Fu Fighting'. Then their friends arrived... -
Out of curiosity on UK 14 did vehicles reset or something? We picked up 3 vehicles last night and they were gone following the server restarting.

There are jets and aeroplanes
Askar replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Implying jets would be armed. I believe he's talking about a situation where DayZ has expanded in size to the point where ground vehicles, especially foot, would take ages to get from one side of the map to the other. Rocket has expressed interest in greatly expanding the size of the map in the future, probably sometime after the game goes standalone. At this point I feel an unarmed, incredibly difficult to fix and operate aircraft would be necessary and a good addition to the mod. That point is far off, though. -
I was out searching for vehicle spawns and out of surprise on top of Pik Kozlova (where the ATV spawns) i found 4 tents all unlocked and filled with goodies. Had to take out 2 of the players who happened to just spawn right there. It was either them or me.. managed to take most of their gear, a ton of morphine and about 5 camping tents. If the owner is out there i'd be happy to give it back :) once again i was hunting for vehicles, not camping gear :) btw i left a comfy fireplace for them to come back to :)

HeLLo, I am noticing that the ATVs are bugged out and its really easy to flip them and I had this idea and it just may work. Basically you can unflip and ATV if its on it side but it will require two people to do the work. I really don't know if you want to carry it out as far as being able to unflip trucks and cars and stuff but if you do so it will require a-lot more people in the area to unflip those heavy vehicles. But for now I just think being able to unflip the ATV is only necessary.

As you can see, from the 2 screenshots, I am overlooking the Stary Sobor military tent area. To my knowledge, the only vehicles that are supposed to spawn here are a Jeep and a Bus. (Also a helicopter, but we all know the situation with those at the moment). From what I can tell, it looks to be functional, yet upon attempting to interact with it, all of my efforts thus far have failed. I'd shoot it, to determine if the engine would light up, but I'm in Stary Sobor. Zombie hordes, anyone? Anyway, just curious if there's something I have to repair to get this thing working again / accessible somehow, or if I should leave it be and quit wondering about it. Also, I have no idea how one of my CZ550 mags (see upper right corner) has managed to accumulate a 19 round capacity, but I'm going to assume it's something to do with switching between it and my AKM (Formerly FAL). Not entirely positive.

A guy with this info: 26.07.2012 04:10:14: The Chosen One (78.60.227.141:2314) e34832f59a6d586a3b14444790022aad was spawning various stuff, vehicles backpacks etc. I won't put any more details here but can send details from the server log to an admin here if necessary. A friend is going through the server log and there may be others to add.

There are jets and aeroplanes
Redshift replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It really wouldnt fit the feel of DayZ. There is another Zombie mod based on ARMA2 that is more of an "action fps" that has all of the vehicles like jets, tanks, ect in it. DayZ is less action oriented and more survival oriented. -
To kill or not be killed? Three instances that changed my DayZ life… 1) The first time I found an AK74 I was in the apartments near the supermarket in Electro. At the time I didn’t know it was Electro, I didn’t know much of anything. I knew zombies ate people. I knew people killed people. The most I’d ever had in ten hours of playing was a Makarov. This was before the time of hatchets, before even the time Six Launcher was “there”. I didn’t know the game had vehicles, well, not until I got run over by a Skoda. I met two other survivors in that apartment building in the dead of night. They too were new to the game and marvelled at my assault rifle. We decided to go to the supermarket for supplies before heading out to the wilderness. We thought we were invincible, with my leading the trio with the “big” gun, the other two providing light with chemlights. We never even made it to the supermarket. Three sniper shots later and the night seemed so much darker… 2) The first time I killed someone was in a cattle pen. I think it was one of the satellite villages around Stary Sobor. I didn’t know it was PVP land there at the time. All I knew was I’d progressed after a few dozen deaths. I knew what buildings I could enter, how to avoid Zs and most importantly, to avoid Cherno and Electro, those hulking deadwoods on the coast. I crept into the cattle pen slowly, avoiding the masses of zombies outside. Now I know those zombies signified player activity before I arrived. Back then – I didn’t know about spawn rates, loot drops, all I knew was buildings you could enter meant better gear. I picked through the meagre supplies slowly, deliberately. Anything is good when your back is empty. I moved through a doorway into a small side room and there he was. Full camo with a silenced M4 pointed in my face. I still don’t know why I fired my Winchester point blank into his face. Maybe I wanted his gun. Maybe I was scared. Maybe, I just wanted to kill him. The sound of flies filled the room as he died in front of me. Suddenly the direct communications went crazy. “BANDIT!” someone screamed. “FRIENDLY?” a second shouted down his mic. “BANDIT! HE FUCKING KILLED xxxx!” the first said. “FUCK WHERE IS HE?” the second asked. “I see him!” said the last and third voice said as I turned around to see a woman dressed in civilian clothing enter the room. I don’t know if they knew I could hear them – perhaps they were newbies too. Whatever the reason, their chatter saved me. The third speaker fell on the floor dead, a Winchester bullet in her head. Then the zombies began to flood the cow pens. Without thinking I decided to run, sprinting through the throng, blindly firing at any who got too close to me. I figured if I could hit the woods I’d be out and away. Two figures appeared in front of me bearing assault weapons. I fired, they fired, we all went down. They had sprayed. I shot twice. The zombies began to eat them. For some reason, they ignored me. My character unsteadily rose to his feet with just 1000 blood. By the time I bandaged, I had barely 200. I watched the zombies lumber away after eating my two assailants. I felt no guilt. I felt nothing but victory. After looting the four heavily armed bodies of gear I had never seen before I made my way out of the barn to the woods. Their fifth killed me ten seconds later. A sniper shot from purgatory I never saw. 3) I am not a bandit. Bandits rob people. They steal from people. I am more than that. I am less. I am a murderer. I am a hunter. The thrill of the hunt is what spurs me. I stalk people through the city with NVG and silenced weaponry. I camp atop hills and factories with guns made to shoot through tank armour. I shoot people in the leg to watch them eaten by zombies. I am a monster and I enjoy it. Balota Airfield… I’m perusing the gear in the comms tower. A server hopper lies dead by my feet and I rifle through his belongings. He has a DMR, a gun I’ve never had. I think about dropping my trusty M24 for it. Beside me is a freshly spawned AKM. I hear movement coming up the stairs. I switch my sniper to my PDW and aim it full auto at the top of the stairs. 30 bullets of murderous intent await the poor man or woman approaching me. A head pokes up and I fire. As I do I hear a voice. It’s a child. “Please mister don’t kill me! Please!” I swing my gun to the side spraying a good ten bullets into the wall. I’m not good at guessing ages but I think he’s probably not even a teenager. “There’s an AKM on the floor,” I type to him in direct. “You’re gonna kill me?” “Take it and go.” He looks at me and then looks at the gun. “Please don’t kill me.” “Take it and go.” He slowly moves to the gun past me. He picks it up and slowly backs away from me. He notes the dead body by us. “Did you kill him?” he asks. For a moment I feel shameful. The first time in the game. I lie to him. “Be careful kid, there’s bandits out here.” I watch him leave and run into the woods north of the airfield. I toy with shooting him but decide not to. A server hopper spawns somewhere below me as I hear them go prone. Always more to hunt.

Scripters got you down? Ruining your gameplay?? Not for me! Get spawned into the sky and drop to my death? FRIGGIN HURRICANE CAME OUTTA NO WHERE BRO!! Kill a guy and he gets back up instantly and kills me?? OH CRAP he musta been infected already and turned into a gun weilding zombie! My fault for not making sure he was completely dead! See a vehicle spawn out of no where?? OH GEEZ BRO! I am halucinating and going crazy from seeing the things I have witnessed and thirst and starvation?! See an unstoppable group loaded down with Ghillie suits, best vehicles,Sniper rifles,NV, Automatic weapons that shoot everyone on sight?? Must be the military sending in their special forces to kill all survivors to stop the spread of this deadly virus bro! Someone teleports in front of me and kills me?? Was I dreaming? I just woke up on the shore, Must have passed out while I was floating to this weird zombie infested land! Just have some fun playing the game people...There are still actual survivors out there. I run into 2-3 people a day that we awakwardly stare at eachother then go about our own business/ trade small loot (food/drink/bandage/blood transfusion) then seperate, Even met a guy that still runs with me and my group of actual friends and hasnt shot us in the back (yet) hah

How about additing camo net to hide your vehicles and tents? There is few of them in ARMA 2, how about adding them to Dayz?

Time from hunger meter flashing to loss of blood.
bluecrackers posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So yesterday as I was looking around for some vehicles I noticed my hunger meter was flashing so I went into some trees to chop some wood, to my surprise my hatchet was gone. I don't know how I could've lost it but that's beside the point right now, I'm rather close to a town with a supermarket right now and instead of waiting for my friend to get online I'm thinking of just booking it into town and grabbing a can of food. What I need to know is how long before I start to lose blood? I heard it's 15 mins after the meter starts flashing but I'm not completely sure and this is the life of my most well geared character we're talking about here. All I'd like is some clarification. Thanks! -
Set up camp in cherno. Crack shot AI NPC pwns fresh spawned players. Bathe in noob tears. In all seriousness, it would be nice to have a crack shot elite NPC guarding your loot while you are away. But how is that realistic? How many discarded tents come with a spare human being armed to the teeth ready to fight and die to protect your loot? The vulnerability of tents/camps/vehicles left behind is one of the most realistic, and rewarding, elements of Day Z. Have you ever seen a hard to reach area and thought "maybe there's a tent up there" and figured out how to get there then found a treasure trove of silenced guns? Because it's awesome. Have you ever had a spare set of NVGs looted off your tent? That sucks. But you just set up camp elsewhere.

Hey guys, I'm in need of help. Apparently today my favorite server, US 44 has been commandeered by hackers. A couple of friends and I were playing on the server and in Stary when we engaged the DUDE clan. My friend and I killed nearly all the members of the clan when we engaged the last one. He was using some sort of hack that prevented him from dying. After my friend and I unloaded a full clip on him he survived and killed both of us. After we respawned we were teleported to some sort of despawn forest. Several players had spawned vehicles and killed my friend and I practically instantaneously. We lost extremely high value gear in the venture, including an L85 AWS... I just wanted to report and receive input. Watch out for the DUDE clan.

Ghillie suits and helicopters are still in game?
darkanima270 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since i started playing this game 2 month ago, i never found a single ghillie suit or at least a "working" helicopter, do they still respawn in the actual patch? or they will in the next one approaching? it would be a lot appriciated also if you could give me some tips finding them, because i really want one them, its my end game since i saw every item in this game, except vehicles and the leggendary ghillie suit :( -
Air Drops, a way to mix-up the PvP and camping
Womb Raider replied to Gogster (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, something like this would be nice and would certainly add to Day Z. I'd like to see them really spread out though as people do just grab vehicles and drive to all the spots where the helicopters have crashed, but I suppose you could still do it with something like this. -
I've had a couple ideas mainly to do with camp sites. 1. Cut down and be able to move vegetation to setup as camoflauge. 2. Add a large tent like the ones at start sobor, make them take up 9 or 10 slots. Make them have the inventory capacity of the ural. 3. Add camoflauged netting to further hide vehicles.
-
My new hobby (as some of you may know) is finding hoarder camps and redistributing to nubs/people who don't KoS. We find probably 2 big-ish (roughly 3 or more vehics counts as big-ish) camps a night on various servers in 2-3 hours, so in the last few weeks we've had our fair share of big camps. We've got it down to a science now, it's amazing how common it is for people to hide things in the same spots. With amazing reliability. Like you could almost give grids for each "camp spawn" (that's what we call them they're that reliable) along the north of the map. It's insane. What's the biggest one you've ever found? From memory mine was about 12 vehicles, 3 of them Urals, about 30 tents each paaaacked to the brim with shit. I think that camp had about 14 AS50's in total, 12 MK48's, 13 Ghillies, about 15 NVG's, 15 M4 CCO SD's, 52 SD mags (no joke), 60+ M107 mags, tons and tons of vehicle bits, the lot. It had every single item in game at least once. Tons and tons of bear traps (which we placed *all*, around 30 of them, around the camp for a night before stealing it all for teh lulz). EDIT: Can't have one of these threads without pics! Here's one of the Urals from said camp

Are all the vehicles taken?
Quagmire (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
You've got it pretty much bang on. Clans/server owners usually take all the vehicles when the restart the server by locking it for a while. Only advise I could give would be to study your map, think if you had a vehicle you didn't want anyone to find where would you put it? That's how I raid camps and blow up their vehicles frequently. -
Please add the amount of vehicles on the server.
