    Vehicle Spawns

    This would in no way discourage the hoarding of vehicles, are you saying you would not hide avehicle that you spent hours gathering the equipment to make? or that you would not make more vehicles to have at your camp to store goods and just for the sake of having a large range of vehicles to distribute to new people joining yer team? This would make it so that vehicles are super easy to aquire, making them less valuable, in turn giving less incentive to seek them and steal them from other players, making human interaction less, not more. Leave vehicles rare so we have something to fight over and hunt for.

    Sweet, so is the update out already or? Yesterday my buddies and me found 3 vehicles and a helicopter would be epic now :D
  3. So it is possible that our vehicles respawned as well? Lost quite a few ones in different locations and considered theft the most reasonable answer. Maybe there still is hope. :)

    First impressions

    too hard with extremely sewere consequences. One small mistake and you loose hours of accumulate rewards. Funny, I think it is abit too easy, although I remember my first 3-4 lives, God I was bad. Very rarely any feeling of triumph (at all) Huh, I guess you have never turned the table on somebody who shot first. Never found NVGs, haven't set up a base with vehicles. Instead of “+100 headshot points” you actually have to work for it and do something worth noting. Really unprecise controls ?? Lack of auto-aim? Or bad wording? The controls are pretty precise, you press D, you move right, you move the mouse...your aim moves. Everything Is just normal ....with extremely severe consequences - which is fine if the in-game possiblities match the challenges. They don't: unrealistic in a bad way - why can't I use a hunting knife or my bare fists to fight zombies? have they grown fangs when they became zombie? lack of melee-weapons: I'm sitting at a laptop now: used right I can kill people with it. Why can't I beat the zombies with 2x4? branches? the big hatchets in the chopping blocks? every household has a kitchen; what about the butchers knife in there? Because Soldiers prefer using a 2x4 over a M4.......This is due to being a Mod in alpha on a milsim engine and something you can expect to be fixed in a standlone. So far a Axe and Crowbar has been hacked in. More than enough. (Do your research) Bad affordance: you can't see which houses you can loot and which you can. Again, learn the difference between DayZ the Mod and Arma the game...This is a limit of Arma (do your research) Controls are very different from other shooters (Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Battlefield) and way to complicated for this game. Shave them down. Learn to open your controls settings, and set up to your liking?? or are you are a console gamer? How come a whole colonne of dead soldier doesn't have any weapons on them? did the zombies take them? seriously? Fair point, and one that has been made 15 times before. Extremely little chance of escaping zombies once you are detected - essentially: detected = dead. Trololo, losing zombies is extremely easy, run through buildings...run up hills, run up on rocks...run through a fucking pine tree...Easy peasy, learn the mechanics before you bitch, please. Really really annoying with the grey screen when you are hurt. And this is because: in a proper version, you will not have a debug monitor or little icons to tell you if you are hurt...it is all done with ingame cues In conclusion: You are a newbie, who don't know the engine nor the mod. If you had actually taken the time to research or play it

    Random Skill Sets

    OK, with the news that choppers are on the way back, it got me thinking. In real life I only know two of my mates who can fly a chopper, I know two that can properly set a broken bone and one guy that could refit an engine in a car or truck. I don't know anyone that could butcher an animal for food and I know I couldn't run for 15 miles without stopping :D So, how about introducing completely random skill sets for each character. At each spawn, a RNG would allocate skill points to certain skills, allowing you to do some things and not others: Pilot Skill - Allows you to fly helicopters Mechanic Skill - Allows you to carry out advanced repairs to vehicles (everyone should still be able to change a tyre) Medic Skill - Allows you to permanently fix broken bones and carry out blood transfusions - morphine would only be a temporary fix for a fracture. Hunter - Allows you to get more meat from a butchered animal and allows you to move with less noise Athlete - Allows you to run faster and longer for your current water/food level Weapon Specialist - allows you to recombine ammo Soldier - damage increase (each talent for each weapon), hp increase, accuracy increase, etc (RapturJesus) Now, not only would this stop every single person on the server from running to get a chopper and kill everyone in the way, but it would also enhance team work and make you think twice before shooting a survivor - what if he is a medic and you need blood? You could be low on ammo and he could be a Weapons Specialist and sort you out. Skills would reset only on death, not on respawn, so no-one could continually try to break bones to respawn and get the coveted chopper pilot skill, and would be truly random, hell you may end up with all of them or none, just like people in real life. Could add another layer to an already deep and rich game, what do you think? Any other classes/restrictions that could be added?

    Just came to me...

    A dinosaur Sanbox survival game would be good, but not on this map and with these conditions. The map isnt really great for that sort of thing, i,e, not enough foilage, not enough big urban areas etc. You would need more enterable buildings i think and more vehicles as the dinos would be very very fast! Also the weapons would need more consideration.

    Random Skill Sets

    I like the skill tree idea but not in the way your propose. My Idea... Engineer - Easier to drive vehicles, ability to fix vehicles, ability to store more engineer type equipment in bag, ability to store more in cars, etc Hunter - ability to run faster, ability to run longer, ability to create fire, gut animals, cook meat, increased damage for crossbow, ability to go longer without food/water, etc Soldier - damage increase (each talent for each weapon), hp increase, accuracy increase, etc Medic - ability to give transfusions, faster bandanging, faster medical anything, ability to give transfusion to self, etc To unlock each talent would require a set number of points. Ex. 250 zombie kills would equal one point in which you could unlock or upgrade a talent. Also it would be a talent tree system. Meaning 1 unlocks 4 and 5. While 2 unlocks 3. All talents reset upon death. I don't mean to undermine your thread. This is just my idea. You some good ideas too. I think adding this element would mean for more cooperation. In real life if a party member needed attention you couldn't just give him blood. You would probably have to find a doctor.

    Yea poor picture lol, I just picked up the phone as I was sending the pic to friends over IM in all the excitement. Yea probably was us, didn't see any other vehicles on our travels. You weren't the guys in the barracks?
  9. Most of our vehicles are back today, missing 1 ATV which was probably stolen. Grats to the guy/s that killed us as we were leaving a bus, we found out it was a magic bus that respawned tires and ended up getting delayed by a minute or two, those minutes proved fatal. My only question is how did you spot my friend when he was prone behind several trees, using the side glances to keep track of him?

    Barb Wire & Vehicles

    Seen the same issue with fortification emplacements, they just respawn every time the server restarts regardless of how many times you take them down. This is especially problematic in the large southern towns where people will put out cat and sandbags in critical buildings to try to keep others out while they're there, but it unfortunately keeps most people coming off the coast out of the building for the rest of time, or until removed emplacements don't respawn on server restart. The pile of vehicles outside the map is likely due to someone driving them out there and blowing them up, anything outside the map borders should technically disappear after a bit, as people were setting up camps well outside the map boundries back before May and anything set up out there should be disappearing within a day.
  11. Lowered my video options to gain some fps, from 15 to 30, and this was one of the effects. Easy to spot tents, vehicles and players in a forest, no fun in my opinion..

    New Server- Vehicles?

    The same here..... since Monday the server is running and still no cars. We payd for this shit waiting for so long time and than there are no vehicles ? Fucking Joke ?...
  13. click on this link : http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles it contains a full list of vehicles in dayz with all the info about every vehicle, that means general inventory slots (beans/mags/drink etc) weapon slots, backpack slots and number of seats, and what you need parts you need to repair it. it also tells you where the vehicle normaly spawns, this usually don't mean shit since clans and other groups have most likely repaired this vehicle and moved it outside the map. hope this helps someone :)

The server in question is Country# (1.7.2.3/95208) dayzmod.com - Happy DayZ - Vilayer.com - Our group stumbled across multiple vehicles (5+) as well as a number of tents that were set up within the perimiter of the North West Airfield earlier this afternoon. As you would expect, we took a couple of the vehicles and the loot that was useful to us and thought nothing more of it. We continued playing on this server until just 10-15 minutes ago at which point the whole group received the 'no message received' text that appeared on the screen. When the server had reset, we attempted to rejoin to continue where we had left off previously and found that every single one of us received the 'Battleye: Banned' message upon attempting to connect to the server. At the minute, there is only one person on the server, I'm guessing the admin, who is probably busy getting all his stuff back having realised the stupidity of leaving such a camp set up within a high traffic area such as the North West airfield. It's a shame to see server admins behaving like this as it ruins what is otherwise a very enjoyable experience with DayZ.

  17. Suggestion; Easy night time fix, give us light sources in the game world. Current Light sources such as torches, white chem/flares and vehicle lights could be adapted in a few instances to be static street and select building lights. It could then be taken a step further and linked to power stations. Have power stations repairable (like vehicles). Repair power stations and with night onset a city/town/road way gets partially illuminated. Repairable power stations also give the player base a common goal & reason to unite, its a grouping incentive.

    How do vehicle spawns work?

    No vehicle spawns in locations where they are supposed to spawn. Vehicles spawns woth some parts fixed up but most of the time missing the engine. They don't respawn after a restart though

    All the shit went down just after I logged off it seems. An utter disgrace that these cheating wankers actually had to shut down the server to prevent one of their own from dying. Spawning in vehicles, Alt F4ing and shutting off the server to prevent item loss are enough to get this server taken down for good. And there is PLENTY of video proof to back all the claims as well as the testimonies of 800+ viewers of the stream last night.
  21. So, I see you have to find a vehicle and then repair it, using a few parts but I was thinking(As was nearly everyone at one point) that vehicles could be built from ground up. Requiring some sort of perk where your character would have been a car maker before or something like that with blueprints, and you'd need around 7-10 parts to make a chassis. It'd make them much rarer and I found 4 vehicles within the space of 3 hours, so they aren't that rare.

    There should, in my opinion, be at least one or two off-road vehicles in a town (like the Hilux and UAZ), four or so civilian vehicles, one or two trucks/vans, and half a dozen bicycles. Maybe a smattering of motorbikes. They could spawn with a random set of broken parts, or even just an empty gas tank (and finding gas is a chore in itself), and if they go unused for, say, 48 hours, then they disintegrate and respawn on the next server restart. That said, overall I'd like to see Rocket go over his current spawn locations and rates and redo them completely, so that living in Chernarus isn't all about making your way to one or two of the Big Five Loot Spots: NWAF, Elektro, Cherno, Berezino, and Stary Sobor.

    Tents could be simplified

    I was looking through Rocket's database structure. The tents have owner id attached to them, Well for starters the id is not even GIUD of the player but some artificial id created in the game which allows for duplicate GUID entries. Which means you as 1 player can have 30 different ids, and if you place a tent and it gets assigned 1 owner id doesn't mean tomorow it will still be your tent, because tomorow you may well have another id and the tent will become nobody's tent. Another thing is that to query the name of the owner you have to query across 3 tables. First to match id to GUID then to match GUID to name. I mean the existing database is really inefficient in many ways so don't be surprised you get desyncs and what not at peak levels. My suggestion is this: Drop the ownership of the tent. The only way user will be able to pack a tent if he removes every item from it. Empty tents can be packed and taken by anyone. It just doesn't make sense. Why cars can be driven by anyone but tents can be accessed by anyone just not taken. Without owner id you do not need to bother about tons of stuff. If a person that placed the tent died, so what. The tent would still be there like a vehicle. In fact are even in the same table as vehicles. They are also classified as objects. Remove ownership add simple rule, if(tent !=empty){can't pack it}.
  25. 1. Item coding is weird 2. Where else would it go? 3. If all the Vehicles moved then every server would be full of Vehicles around 1000 vehicles which would cause HIVE to fail. 4. Zombies Can't teleport, so you either have bad connection or graphical glitches. 5. Dafuq, how do you swim through a Floor? 6. In what game can you apply pressure to stop bleeding? Get a bandage man. 7. You can use an Axe or Crowbar. 8. Hands vs Zombie = Hands bleed and Zombie virus get in. Bare knuckle fighting makes your hands break or bleed. 9. Blame Arma. 10. You can now, some servers have it enabled others don't.
