Lost my DMR for no reason.

lost two dmrs, 1 as50, three m107 for some hours ago. Probably after a server restart. Saved the vehicles containing them several times, but still dissapeard. -

You're assuming people who don't hoard vehicles (in other words owns 1 car or such) stashes it close to the coast, which rarely happens. Most likely people who don't hoard vehicles and do not collect them still take them as far away from high traffic areas such as the coast. EDIT: And if you figure that stashing vehicles in general is considered hoarding, would you go through the trouble of fixing a vehicle just to drive it from A to B and then just leave behind? I don't think so. -

heli crash sites are rare, and I've come across plenty with viable loot on a server that's been up for quite a time. I don't believe this merits change. More vehicles would be nice, I'm not against the idea but more vehicles brings more stress on the server. As for vehicles despawning after x amount of time not being used- they already do that. Making it so that vehicles just vanish after a few hours without someone in them is less realistic then they are in their current state. Plenty of servers I've seen reset at the onset of their night cycle. I would like to see that changed. As for the viability to see in darkness, you don't have to turn your brightness up or anything. You have a flashlight. Illuminating your position is dangerous, but it gives you visibility. That's the point. Spawning in more NVGs makes no sense. Night vision is treasured because it's rare AND useful, unlike mountain dew. Again, killing is too grey to define black and white like this. If you're forced to kill a group of freshly spawned bandits who attempt to kill you, all the sudden- you're the bandit with the bounty. There shouldn't be visible or game changing action taken against bandits. Guess what? In real life, it's easier to be an asshole to get what you want than it is to be charitable and kind. So this holds true to our nature in game, methinks. As for hackers; if a game exists- there will be hackers. That's life. -

Honestly, I would think it's rarer than everyone claims. Spent last 2 days running through W and N forests. Found a number of vehicles, but always just a single one, parked under some tree. Found tents too, but rarely more than 2-3 at the same place. -

This has been clogging up in my nerve central and I have to get it out of my system. Time to time we see threads about vehicle hoarding, how it's unfair and ruining the game play for others, such as casuals. Every time this topic is discussed or viewed we get a rather large influx of people posting and playing the blame game. This just seems rather ridiculous to me and so I made this topic, to humbly ask for an explanation that would clarify to me how it's unfair exactly, and how is it ruining anyone's play time, casual or not. I'll try to sum up in a simple example how my mind comprehends the vehicle situation, and it goes like this: Vehicle 1 has a spawn point at location A. Vehicle 2 has a spawn point at location B. Vehicle 3 has a spawn point at location C. Person 1 finds vehicle 1 at A and moves it to a camp site far north, being location D. Person 1 also finds vehicle 2 at B and moves it to the same camp site at location D. He's now effectively "hoarding" vehicles. Person 2 finds vehicle 3 at C and drives around until someone shoots him and the fate of the car is unknown. Person 3 finds vehicles 1 and 2 at location D and proceeds to take vehicle 1 and shoot out the tyres off vehicle 2 for shits n giggles. Now explain to me, what is the difference between person 2 and person 3? How has the person 1 influenced the process of finding a vehicle for them? Because it would seem to me, the only thing that changed is the location from A and B to location D. What difference does it make if a person finds a vehicle at D instead of A, B or C? My common sense is saying that the answer is absolutely nothing. It actually seems that person 3 is happier than person 2 because he found 2 vehicles instead of 1 even if he only took one. Chances are he found a good camp site with tents filled with good lewt. He also has the satisfaction of ruining someones day good n proper. I'm going to say it like this: You can't hoard vehicles. You could when it was possible to park them 15km outside of the map, but now that you can't do it anymore, all vehicles are on the visible map for anyone to stumble upon, be it location A, B, C or D. Argue me please. -

I made a rant post earlier that someone criticized as belonging in the suggestion forum, so I've rewrote it. I'd like some input and bumps, and maybe the opinion of Rocket himself. Helicopter crash sites - There's generic loot, and then there's good loot. There's only a few places worth looting as an end game, which causes players to ignore exploration in favor of making a straight line to those areas. The only good loot to be found in this game through exploration is crash sites, but anyone knows they're pointless to look for on a server that hasn't been rebooted lately. Suggested change: Crash sites should spawn and despawn (when looted) continuously at a very slow place. This will encourage exploration as well as discourage server abuse (constant restarts). Vehicles - They're a little bit too rare, which encourages hording and stashing. We need more vehicles rolling through major cities, causing havoc and getting blown up. We also need less 40 minute jogs. Suggested change: Increase the amount of vehicles on the map and add random spawns, further increasing exploration gain. Night - Servers empty out the moment night hits and/or players are forced to increase their brightness and gamma settings. Suggested change: Slightly increase the visibility during night time and increase the spawn rate and spawn locations of night vision goggles. Bandits - This is a hard one, and I know Rocket has a "do what you want with only moral consequences" type of game in mind, but the game has devolved into mindless deathmatch. The reason for this is because there's too many upsides to being a bandit and nothing but downsides to being a helpful survivor. There's also a large lack of communication, which only encourages the shoot first/ask later response. Suggested change: Add some type of bounty to murderers (I realize there's a lot of shades of grey here and it wouldn't be an easy thing to implement). Increase the text and voice communication distance. Warn players on server join if they have voice chat disabled. Readd the ability to enable global chat on a server. -

great ... another useless and stupid patch. dayz becomes more and more booooooooooooring ... what will be in the next patch or update ??? - Weapons disabled ( we have added stones and tetra packs you can use as weapon. - we have added bio - organic food and fruits you can pick from the trees. the canes are disabled. ( fastfood isnt good for u ) - we have disabled animals. all players have to be vegetarians now - new veg-suit added. sandals, jute bag - we have disabed all vehicles with engine cause of pollution of the enviroment. use bicycles - Chernarus will be renamed into Amish Country -.- bring back the funny DayZ !!! r.i.p side and globalchannel ... Oh Andrej, I'm the guy that shot at you, there seems to be loads of people at that airfield and I was itching to try out this sniper. Not used to the bullet speed yet otherwise it would have hit :lol: That and I was heading there to help Megaman myself, hes the third person in our group (don't let him drive the vehicles you love). He mentioned you might have an M249, that wouldn't be the one I found would it? Anyways since you're just crazy enough to help an armed person I'll give you the location of your bus, but don't think I wont shoot at bus drivers any less. Post it here, we can dish out justice ourselves lol. I will personally go to many of them on my bare assed character and crash their parties. Search the borders of the map, swim to the island, if you see a camp with hoarded shit it is likely the admin and friends. Then just have a blast. Empty the tents into the vehicles. Blow them up or hide the stuff... then save the tents empty. It is a good time. -

Yeah I can understand just having one for transport, but there is group with multiple vehicles. I was just wondering whats the purpose in having so many? Just to say look what we have or do people with those many vehicles Or make like a vehicle convey making raids. But for me there is nothing like having 8 guys in your group looking over a car in the middle of the field at electro in the middle of the night with the car lights on. Not only is fun to shoot people, its funny as hell when we had a player nearby talk to the guys that we shot, saying "lOok boy dont you dare try to steal my car" or stuff like that. -

DayZ.code, dayz.weapons, dayz. equip, dayz.vehicles Those things apparently have been deleted thus I cannot play/join any servers. Do I need to update to 1.7.2.4 for that to be fixed? EDIT: This didn't happen last night...any reason for it?

Have an arbitrary amount / percentage of vehicles that respawn after 24hours regardless. Maybe the Quad & Trials Bike & certainly the bicycle as these have little to no storage capacity. For the non bike vehicles add a more gamey mechanic where the vehicle must be kept to a certain state of repair else it is respawned again after 24hours. ie add engine probs (fixed with toolbox/scrap metal), add punctures so all 4 wheels must be inflatted (either a new wheel or repair & pump), Fuel Tank may leak (pierced by a crash/running over a zombie) so it becomes empty or if its empty from use, no fuel = respawn and lastly if the windscreen is broken (by crashes/running over a zombie), if any of these aren't "fixed" then vehicle is respawned.

* [FIXED] Vehicles with ID's above 1 million didn't syncronize. Does this mean the vehicle that I found a couple hours before the server updated may have disappeared due to this? -
i've had similar experienced with the admins of this server. as of right now at 5:12pm CST the server is passworded with the admin and his group on the server because they are trying to reclaim the vehicles etc. that they lost i'll edit in a screenshot later edit : http://i.imgur.com/rZZLC.png the admins regularly abuse global chat, restart and lock server when losing vehicles, etc. and Curgon, you guys need to seriously rethink the policy for reporting fuckhead admins/servers like us175. i'm not going to waste hard drive space, time, and effort recording these assholes.

question about vehicle spawning

So basically, as every server has a clan, ALL the vehicles (excepy helicopters though no doubt every spawn point is being camped until found) are taken and stashed so there is little to no chance of finding a vehicle therefor no one will ever find 1 again... hmm this is kind of a broke mechanic, no? Surely the engine can handle some temporary "extras"? Even if it were the bicycle, Trials-bike & quads that were duplicated that at least would be something to strive for as a non clan member as it stands the best you can hope for is to stumble across their stash. Just on a brain fart i'd say If the game is to be considered a sim of sorts wouldn't there be a LOT more vehicles - i'd hazard between 2 per village, around 15 for medium sized towns such as zelero & a minimum of 30 per larger towns like cherno & elektro. Half it at least for completely unrepairable apocolypse scenario and tweak further in relation to player count and that should allow a few spares to go around. 50% saveable the other half respawn every 24hours? Surely something has to be done other than preventing vehicle saves off map. -

A major reason why vehicles were hoarded is because tents were fucked up. If the tents are fixed then the need for something like bright blue van or massive V3S are over. As far as hoarding goes,get over it. Its called game mechanics and made into this game with every bit of intention. Take your communist ideals to the open fields of Electra or Cherno where you can put them into practice,I'm certain someone needs your gear or at least your ear. And duping will be ended soon enough. -

i'll roll hard with u guys. i got like 3 months on this game on n off and i still haven't been able to build a sturdy group. what are your objectives as a group? vehicles, bandit hunting, etc? i'm all about positive player interactions, but i will kill the shit out of shady assholes or people not responding to chat. steam name is kumiiyo. -
When we bought the server. It was setup within the hour. All the vehicles had spawned. We had a bus and were driving through the main cities finding vehicles left right and center, we couldn't get them all...

With this new build, after saving vehicles and tents and having a scheduled restart happen an hour later-- everything is gone and has reverted, both for tents and vehicles.
