  1. Hi Guys, i'm new at hosting, and we just got our server online with gamed!de, after a couple of hours we oviously had a group of hackers on the server. they weren't spawning new items, it just looks like they just pulled in all spawned vehicles from the server. What to do? - Reinstall the server so its clean again, then some players might lose their gear. - Announce were the Vehicles are, since i found them (very lucky) - Destroy all Vehicles, so they can spawn new I'm sure the vehicles were not newly spawned since only on car was intact all the others were mostly damaged and not ready to drive. Please help.
  2. Logged in, found an ATV with 3 spare jerry cans, right next to it a red car.. Both of the vehicles was loaded with loot, range finder, m107, night vision, various other stanag weapons. Took the car- drove down the road and accidently crashed- swarms of zombies started attacking us, we took shelter. There we found loads of different repairing equipment for the wheels and windscreen. After defending after 2 waves of maybe 15-20 zombies, we headed down into Berezino. Looted the appartments, found 2 ghillie suits and 1 camo. Hid the car, logged out. Good day with the 1.7.2.4 patch, happy, gg. happy looting everyone.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

Alot of this came from when people would do this for shits and giggles: Player 1's clan finds all the vehicles on the map and moves them to a central location near the edge of the map, They then proceed to drive all the vehicles the maximum distance they can off the map until they run out of gas. Since nobody can get to these vehicles now (the end of the map goes for hundreds if not thousands of kilometers) the offending people suicide and respawn back in the map. The vehicles will stay outside the map for + - 7 days since they don't auto explode/reset till they have been idle for that long, so if 1 person stays with the hoard (alternate accounts quite possibly) they can keep all the vehicles off the map indefinitely. This was fixed since things don't save off the map now, but it was a serious concern.
  4. Hello DayZ Community :D, I've recently joined the community (I think I started playing since 25th July 2012 :P) and am enjoying this mod very much. I just have 2 issues I was hoping I'd get help with. I've tried looking up these issues on google but have not been satisfied. Background: I am looking forward to host a server for DayZ. I'm mainly making this server for future videos I'm planning on making for my youtube channel. But before I go into submitting a ticket for a server, I would like some problems I am having with DayZ troubleshot. I've attached a screenshot of the frozen screen for better understanding (although i'm guessing people have already spoken of this issue). I have Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA on Steam (not pirated). Issues: My very first issue is that I freeze on the loading screen when I launch the server and try to join it. The only server that launches successfully is 1.7.0.0 (I'm guessing that's the right version since the back up file i got says 1.7.0) without using softwares like Navicat. Nothing works after I update DayZ to the latest version. I've already googled/youtubed hoping to find a proper solution. Hasn't helped me so far. So I was hoping if there is any way I could launch the updated server successfully. Note: Knowing Steam automatically updates Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA, I decided I'd manually update the games through their website (since I get the message saying that 1.62 is available on the website). The website won't load for me (attached picture). MAYBE the website's down or something, not sure. Edit: Managed to get my hands on the patch. Guess the website's up again. My second issue is when I was running the older version of the server (1.7.0.0), people who join the server complain about hackers/cheaters. I myself have witnessed players using hacks to spawn vehicles/weapons/ammos/etc. I was under the impression that BattlEye prevented this. I did re-install BattlEye by clicking Arma 2 OA and selecting the re-install option on Steam, did not help. I also re-installed BattlEye manually by downloading the files from the BattlEye website, still no help. Was hoping to get solutions on this issue as well so once I launch my server for youtube videos, people don't use hacks and stuff to ruin the server. I appreciate all the help that will be provided... :)
  5. So you're saying every noob who spawns at the coast needs a vehicle. I honestly can't even tell if this is trolling it's that laughable. If you need to get to you're friends walk like everyone else does what makes you so special? I think you should read my last post about being entitled, why do you need a vehicle more than a clan with 10 members, (just a random number) when in all actuality they probably would use it for far better uses than driving around Cherno honking the horn and getting shot at. Tl;Dr Stop whining... P.s. No i'm not in a clan, i play by myself and sometimes with one or two people. I have no problem stealing vehicles from hoarders whether when they're offline or not. L2P...

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I think there needs to be vehicle spawn zones scattered throughout the map. (75+ to make it harder to camp a spawn) When the server starts/re-starts the vehicles should be randomly distributed among these spawn zones, when a vehicle has LEFT a spawn zone and has been inactive for one hour, it should re-spawn at a random spawn zone. This should increase the chances of stumbling on a vehicle and make it impossible to hoard the vehicles in far off parts of the map. Thoughts?

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I mean, If people really lack self reflection on such a basic level that they don't get the idea that it might be a strange thing to sit in front of the computer all day working on accumulating virtual car representations that have no actual value and will not even be used inside the game, then their problems are probably more severe than my troubles finding a car to do shit with it. I found a lot of vehicles lately, so whatever, so I guess I am less pissed of by that right now. Its probably this roleplaying thing, where people believe they live in this world and fantasize about their life and how it is important to aquire objects that represent value instead of having a good time. Maybe make vehicles explode when they cross the map border. That way people looking for them would actually find them.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

It just seems like vehicles should be used to get somewhere... not for storage. Thats just my opinion.
  9. You're a clown. I don't even know where to begin with you, lets start with the whole immersion factor that you kiddies seem to cry about on a daily basis. If this were real life (as a lot of people like to think it is) then in all actuality this is exactly what would be happening. People who banded together would scavenge all the workable vehicles in an area to their own camp/town so that they could better their own odds, keep other possibly dangerous people from having them, etc. Next let's go with the pretty simple point L2P, it's not hard to stumble onto a camp with a vehicle or two there. Especially after the patch that respawns them if they're outside of the boundaries. The entitlement of this community has been coming increasingly unbearable as of late. When you don't have something that you want you work for it. That's the way the world works, stop expecting everything to be giving to you. If a person/clan is hording vehicles on a server you frequently play on then stalk them and find it. It honestly isn't all that hard. I'll end this by saying the world owes you nothing (in this case Day Z) work for it or quit. Tl;Dr Stop whining...
  10. At one stage we had 5 vehicles between 3 of us on one server, I felt like a hoarder

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

One week is way too long for unused vehicles to respawn. Make it 2 days max. If you don't use the vehicle and just hoard it for whatever neurotic reasons, then it could as well be used for more interesting stuff elsewhere. Nothing wrong with finding a vehicle and hiding it somewhere else to use it the next day or have it discovered by people looking for it. But hoarders hide them kilometers off the map, doing nothing with them, effectively removing them from gameplay. They are hindering alpha testing with their personal issues. Vehicles will be reset anyways from time to time. There is absolutely no point in hoarding them and not using them.
  12. The only way to play the game currently is to treat all your gear as disposable. If you hoard items/vehicles, etc. you'll just end up disappointed when your 2 week char gets instantly killed or someone who just logged in finds and teleports to your camp. If you only focus on accumulating things you'll just end up frustrated.

    Vehicles less rare?

Right because zombies demolished all the cars and their engines so that they are unrepairable. Make vehicles less rare and at the same time make them need extra repairs to run. That way more players get a chance at fixing a car or a vehicle and using it. I have been playing for months now, yet to find 1 single vehicle. Just make them a pain to repair and get working. but make them less rare. Right now its unrealistically, retardedly rare.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I myself have have been person 1 and 3 mostly. I went north. Established a camp site 1.5km north of the north eastern airfield. Then I headed west in a semi direct line, running both in the gorge and on the northern border hills. It took me 4 trips to reach the north west airfield, because I kept running in to stashed vehicles. I found 1 white pickup truck, UAZ, some kind of a military vehicle of another sort and finally an ATV. All within 1 hour. I drove em all back to base, and hid them in the most effin secluded region on the map with other 4 vehicles I had found in the northern woods in the previous week. On the same day, someone walked in on the stash and stole the UAZ and blew up the rest for shits n giggles. Point is, person 3 most definitely finds vehicles because there is no such thing as hidden in DayZ. Anything you TRY to hide will be found sooner or later. Only a matter of time. Try it if you think it's that simple. My point still stands.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I've satcheled vehicles i've had before when I log back into notice my truck or bike is missing I blow the charges.
  16. Are you always this much of a jackass? You must be a real bucket o' sunshine in real life. Also considering that hackers were teleporting and dropping people to their deaths around the same time my loot goes missing, chances are it was a hacker. Especially since my tent was untouched for over a week, before the hackers started hanging around this server. You really have no idea what hackers are capable of do you? Have you played this game? Try invincibility, invisibility, nuking a server, wall hacks so they can see right through the landscape to stuff like tents and vehicles, they can spawn whatever they want, teleport where they want, and teleport you where they want, they can override server presets (as everyone knows, it's a bitch to find things like tents in first person view, much easier in third, us156 is a 1st person only server, exactly why i chose it). So if you think ransacking players tents and stealing their vehicles is a stretch for a hacker in Day Z, you have not played this game enough.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

lol, get a grip ;) But seriously, if vehicles were always respawned they would be a lot less attractive. Who would even farm those spots for more than a minute when all they're worth for you is to bring you from one place to another once ?? Really, I think that's a terrible idea, I hope they never do that. But they could potentially do something like limit every player to saving only one car, you know? I really think these kind of changes would be long term stuff though. That would really need a lot of work and I don't see Rocket (& team) wasting time on these little details right now.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I hate that clan member (the server clan) takes all the fucking vehicles and doesnt use them. They might use them when there is like 10-20 ppl in and they often are 4-5 ppl using a shitty car aswell. Devteam should change that cars that havent been used in 24H should be relocated or respawned.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

I think we should just take vehicles completely out of the game. In the 400+ hours I've put into DayZ I've seen 1 ATV, 1 blown up ATV on it's side, one huey flying overhead shooting at me, and one 4x4 pickup truck. I actually got to ride the ATV for about 30 seconds before some dude shot me off the back of it. I never get to play with the vehicles anyways. Just get rid of them. No more vehicle hogging asshats.

    Admin Abuse on US348

While on server US348, along with 3 other friends, my buddy had taken our White off-road pick up truck out to go pick up one of our other friends when he encountered one of the admins named Zombiegore in another off road pick up truck with a passenger. My friend, Girls gone Cherno, got out of his truck and proceeded to take shots at the admin(s) disabling the truck and killing both people in the enemy pick up truck. Immediately after he killed the 2 people, we were all kicked seconds after and the server shutdown. The admin who abused was Zombiegore. Time Zone Is UTC-05:00 Eastern Stand Time at Approximately 8:55. My friends are: Deeka Reaper Girls gone Cherno and myself, Flex Something needs to be done! !UPDATE! - For the past 50 minutes, My friend, Girls gone Cherno, and I have been waiting to join the server over and over again and EVERY TIME we get back in the server we see them and kill them as they keep trying to take both trucks and then they immediately restart the server again. The admin who keeps restarting the server, kicking us from the server, and locking the server to safely get away with the vehicles is Zombiegore, although he is with 2 "accomplice(s)" who go by the name of {TWD} Rick Grimes and {TWD} Shane Walsh. We believe these people to not only be admin abusers but hackers as well because every time we kill them, seconds later the EXACT same people are back within seconds/minutes and fully geared again. This is all happening right outside of Stary Sobor. They have restarted it about 3-4 times now while kicking us off and every time we kill them and they immediately restart. Shameful...

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

Those 3 words make me laugh so hard I need to pee. If vehicles always respawned instead of remaining hoarded the spawns would be camped and be even more dangerous than looking out in the forest for them.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

OP raises an interesting point. The only difference between his "Persons 2, 3" is that Person 2 found his vehicle at a known spawn location, Person 3 did not. In other words, people look up spawn locations, run to location expecting to find easy vehicles, find that the vehicle is no longer at spawn location, and then proceed to complain on forums that "exploiters" are "hoarding" vehicles. On the other hand, people such as Person 3 who spend time exploring the map can find vehicles hidden at non-spawn locations fairly easily (I know I do).
  23. If someone goes through the massive trouble of repairing a vehicle (sometimes several hours of running around finding parts), then they should be well within their rights to try and hide the vehicle so they can continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor; whether he has other vehicles or not.
  24. The 50cal snipers do so much damage because they are ANTIMATERIAL rifles. These weapons disable vehicles with single shots.

DayZ: Camp Raid, and Satchel Charge (2:19)

Thanks :D. Yeah, we had though about that. We knew some guy had left on an atv before this video started, but I had logged out in the hills over there the day before. The day before they had about 9 vehicles. So it was dumb of me not to realize they were moving their camp in this video until my friend suggested it. When we figured that much out, we realized that most of the stuff would've been in the Ural already. And I didn't want to risk one of the many other camp members getting online. They had quite a bit of stuff fit for quite a large group of people. So instead of pushing our luck, we both got out while we still had our beans.
