Nope. They are perfect the way they are. The game is about running around, vehicles make the map feel very small, and it makes everything very very easy.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
SystemiK replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally, I fucking love the vehicle hoarders. They find the vehicles. They repair the vehicles. They drive them all to one location. They fill them up with fuel and loot. I drive them away one by one. Fucking brilliant. I heart the hoarders and I'm willing to give them at least half of my beans (maybe more). -

The sad truth is... kids with mental illnesses like you are usually the ones who make worthless posts on internet forums which I guess make them feel happy. Own 3 servers, have a clan, own more vehicles than most of you in this thread; walk away please. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Entropic replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not the hoarding that pisses me off. It's the fact that large groups of 12 ~ 20 people gets ALL the vehicles, and they never play all together using them... What's the point of having a car if it's only gathering dust in the corner of the map? Me and my friends were looking for cars since the day we started playing, after a whole week we found a camp with almost every single vehicle parked in there. We stole it ofc but, we got chased and HUNTED by a large group just because we had 1 of their cars. They found the place we parked it, and instead of just getting the car back, they camped it for THREE days, just to shoot us with an AS50 and get a "revenge". It was pretty fun... But did they really needed that car? Bet it's back in the forest... -

Vehicle hoarding is fair. Always was, always will be. People just want this game to be so damn easy and want things brought to them on a silver platter. That "Vehicle hoarder" spent just as much time fixing up those vehicles as any one else would have. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
v1ktor replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry kid, not everyone has countless hours to run through forests looking for hidden vehicles just to have the autistic admin lock the server and have you lose that vehicle you have just found. Plus admins appear to piss their panties and restart servers every time one of their many camps gets raided -

aussiestig replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If a clan or player goes to all the hard work of finding vehicles before other players, then his/her hard work should not be undone, no matter how angry you are that you don't have a vehicle. Deal with it. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Rayth replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's what I'd like to see happen: Vehicles do not spawn at specific points, they spawn randomly throughout towns/farmhouses/on roads Vehicles have a 3 day rollover save timer instead of 7 Most problems, if you can even call them problems, which I don't, would be solved with those changes. -
So, I've been playing a while and I don't see how to get better...
NFK replied to VikingBerserker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been playing about a month now, my current character has 16 days. The game definitely opened up for me once I learned the map. I've spent a lot of time exploring the north, and the more common places to find camps. A lot of people are lazy when it comes to camps and set them up near obvious landmarks (lakes and ponds, hilltops, rock formations). Most of my high-tier weapons and equipment came from raiding camps and vehicles. I have yet to set foot in NW Airfield or a Heli crash, and currently have no need to. I guess it comes down to two things, learning the map, and a lot of patience. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
batcaveslimer replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not whining about the vehicle situation cause I'm lazy. I've done the hard yards of searching ON FOOT for days for hoarder's or anyone's camps on the fringes. Makes me think cars are still being held off-map. That is days and days of game-play of just running around living off the land and not finding squat! = Boring As stated before, if I had a vehicle then my team could get more vehicles. Perhaps vehicles are being found and destroyed and are forever cycling in the 7 day respawn phase? Some actual statistics from Rocket concerning vehicles in play might be helpful. -
The constant whining on these forums are a sign you guys are doing great. Implement nothing they suggest as it will fail miserably. I'll make the distinction now, there is a huge difference between a well thought out concern for the game, and a post about how bad player killing/vehicle hording is etc. etc. You guys are doing great and i know i for one am looking for the finished product. Of course there are many things still wrong with the game but it is only an alpha and i'm more than certain all of these problems will be ironed out by the time it is released. To all the people who do nothing but complain and offer no viable solution to you're complaint, you're just making it harder for constructive criticism to be heard. Player killing is not out of control although it could be a bit lower in my own opinion, and i have no doubt in my mind that something will be implemented soon enough to make it so people group up to achieve a common goal. It just isn't there yet and people need to be patient. I've read a lot of threads on the issue and most of them basically said the same thing, at this point of the "alpha" there is more to risk than to gain by being friendly. Especially when you have better gear and more time played on that character, it just simply put, isn't worth the risk. Even if you do actually meet a genuinely friendly player how long does your alliance even last, my personal time was about 3 hours and we went our separate ways. Maybe as the game progresses further they will implement a feature that would make that risk worth while, but as it stands the game is fine, but i'll touch more on the player killing later on in this thread. I read a thread earlier about vehicle hording and how it is unfair. My question is, how is it unfair? Almost everything that spawns in this "alpha" is random. Yeah in certain places loot is going to be better, but as far as i see it the same goes for vehicles. If you have been playing on the same server long and haven't seen any vehicles at there spawn location, then more than likely a player/clan has hidden them right? Okay so where do we go from here there are a few options a simple option would be go to the NWAF more than likely if you spend sometime searching that general location you're bound to find at least one. (i know i have) Option two if you frequently play on the same server try stalking a few players every now and then especially on the NWAF and up north you might just get lucky and they might lead you to their camp. Shooting on sight isn't always the best policy in this game you need patience otherwise this game just isn't for you. To put it as frankly as i can vehicles aren't meant to be a common thing just like NVG's or Mountain Dew. (<- lol) Is it wrong for the player who initially finds the vehicle and spends the time to fix it up (which can take hours if he's by himself) to want to keep it and not let other players steal it? Let's be honest with ourselves here, do not pretend that if you found a vehicle fixed it up and packed it with goodies that you would put it back at its spawn. So i ask again how is this unfair? Immersion/realism is another big topic, i'm sure we've all read about how unreal the player killing is and how unreal this and that is. First and foremost...it is a game! A mod not even a stand alone game yet and its a mod in its alpha stages for Christ sake. An alpha in more times than not is not even playable it is more of an idea with some coding in these stages to get the basics down. With that being said let us touch on player killing and how it apparently affects peoples immersion in the game, i'll try to stay away from getting all technical with the human psyche and how it would be affected in a post apocalyptic world. I'm not going to spit a whole bunch of unsupported nonsense at you and call it fact like so many have tried to do on these forums. Simply put i don't think many people can rightfully say how they would or wouldn't act if the world were to end tomorrow. Let's get passed all the manly bravado of saying "oh i'd kill everyone with a smile" or "i would never kill someone on sight" the reality is in my eyes you don't know what you're capable of until it happens. Based on that logic you can't rightly say people wouldn't just go around killing other people for fun, although i will say this in my own opinion i wouldn't expect to see it as much as we do in Day Z. Again we won't know, none of us have survived the apocalypse so player killing shouldn't break immersion for you. I'm a bit tired i'll finish this post tomorrow as it is far from done. I would like to see some things that i haven't touched on yet in the comments and as long as it isn't trolling or whining i would be more than glad to have a conversation about it. To that end goodnight Day Z and let the trolling begin! Tl;Dr Stop whining...

TX20 server - all items in tents gone, bug after update?
YeeDeed replied to YeeDeed's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
both of these are completely possible, but we also have vehicles, and none of the items in the vehicles were touched. -
Where are they. I have never seen a single sandbag in my entire gaming experience. I have 4 mountain dews, found 18+ vehicles, have around 5 AS50's, 4 MK 48 Mod 0's, a tonne of ammo, and a L85A2 LWS. Yet I've never seen a sandbag. I've even seen around 2 Coyote packs and a NVG spawn at Stary all at once. So where, for the love of god, are sandbags?

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update
ctrl-alt-DESTROY! replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
been playing 1.7.2.4 for hours now with little problem. there was still some desync whilst riding in vehicles (driver had no issues, but it was scary as shit sometimes as a passenger) but nothing like 2 or 3 arma 2 beta patches ago. ghillies are working again (donning them removes your zombie and murder data, but a login restores them), as are 1,000,000+ id# tents. the tents only began to work after the hive update we installed 3 hours ago. there is, however, TERRIBLE artifacting that wasn't present before. we think it's coming from the already dead, static bodies at such locations as the stary military camp and by the berezino hospital. it was impossible for us to approach the military tents in stary from any angle and be able to tell what the hell was going on. zombie behavior is much better with the new hearing fix. shooting a loud gun in a town now draws the horde... overall, it was a great day of surviving and this patch makes far more improvements than new issues. we can't wait for heli spawns... -

US 1436 No vehicles, server disabled or hackers?
East Clintwood replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Do you know how long the server has been around? I don't know if they still do this, but back in May when we first got our server, you had to wait for vehicles to be added to the mission ID, so it's entirely possible that they haven't even had them added yet if the server is a new one. -
Ive played ~100 hrs now ... and i saw a bus ..... its just stupid ... on 99% of the servers all cars / vehicles are already taken away... maybe a solution would be to have to build a "parking lot" in order to save a vehicle from respawning... like .. you would have to build one . and only there u can save your vehicle and if you cant do it it will respawn as a damaged vehicle after 48 hours .. the thing would be that it has to be a pain in the a** to build such a thing .. like you would need 20 wood + 20 metal parts + 3 tents+ a shovel + 5 tank barriers +20 empty cans (there for a reason)... that way the hording would have atleast a downfall i think ... still there would be players hording it .. but bandits really would have a punch .. because .. which survivor would carry empty cans with them the first time going into a city ... . it would be a win/win i think .... more possible car spawns ... cars get even more valuable and bandits might have to enter a city themselves to find what they need yes i know there still could be like a gang of 20+ bandits lurking around elektro and shooting anyone whos going out .. but against these large groups you cant have an impact ... just avoid clanservers .. there u always just get raped

We have been running around the map a few days searching, vehicle spawns, cities, wilderness, airfeilds, boat spawns along the coast we checked the shore from cherno to the NE airfield, there were NO vehicles not even any tents. We thought there could ony be a few reasons why this may have happened, 1. the server disabled vehicles (if that is possible?) 2. hackers blew up all the vehicles and tents and they take 7 days to respawn 3. some one has hoarded every single vehicle on the map in one spot that we havent checked. (which i highly doubt, even though some dicks do) Anyone know who runs the server or any of its admins?

It was another blissful day in Chernarus, this current character or mine is on Day 12 thanks to avoiding people, gutting animals and even somehow surviving a failed press of F to return to my rifle and instead throwing a grenade at the zombie right in front of me. I decided that Seattle 1337 was just elite enough for me and that's where I decided I'd spend my day 12 adventure. But today I saw something weird on the map near my position, and when I moused over it, it said ATV, so I decided to check it out. I scouted the area, spotted the ATV, moved toward it. It lost, found it, and as I got close, I was kicked by Battle-eye. Okay, I log back in, go to investigate the ATV again, see that it has a broken wheel, see that there's ammunition and supplies in the gear option, and then I am kicked again. I moved to another server and finished out the time I had to play without further incident. Now. Does anyone know what happened, and do vehicles actually show up in blue on the map when you get close to them? I've never seen that before. This end of the world experience is getting weird.

DayZ map expansion. go big and go home
3rdparty replied to kwhy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeees I like this idea, each map must be linked by a sea border, to reduce issues of number of vehicles/items/players/zeds transferred. It'd be cool if ye couldnt spawn on them either, you would have to make your way there by boat XD -
My rant on why DayZ is getting worse
tacooftwister22 replied to jimykx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Don't forget that 9/10 other players are out to get you and will kill you on sight. And there are no vehicles because all the clans hoard them and make sure no one else gets a vehicles. And that tents don't work so you can't store stuff. And that zombies can appear through walls behind and knock you out without you even knowing what hit you. And it now takes a full clip from any pistol just to kill a single zombie now, if you manage to find a pistol. And the assault rifles are pointless when it comes to zombies also. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
[email protected] replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Jesus christ, you people are idiots. The vehicles would be fucking useless if you lost them after not using them for a day. Some people log for a few days at a time, why should their hard work finding and repairing the vehicle go to waste because they're busy for a day or two? Shit, in that time someone else has probably found it anyway. Yesterday we found a motercycle at spawn up north. As there is actually little high value industrial outside of the 3 major cities, it took a few hours to find all the wheels, scrap metal, fuel tank and jerry cans to get it up and running and self sustaining. Most of which was me as my mate who ended up with it was watching it while I found all the parts. Are you saying neither of us deserve to have that motercycle for ourselves and not have it disappear when we log so some other wally can drive it around and get it blown up? Fuck you. Also, people are only upset because they're using online maps to try and farm vehicle spawns. You're just as bad as hoarders, fact. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
batcaveslimer replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the problem is that when a group finds a vehicle, it makes it a lot easier for that group to gain even more vehicles by searching spawn locations (sometimes across servers) or to search for more hidden vehicle locations on the outer edges. Have any of you seriously tried to search on foot for hidden car locations? Exhausting, time consuming, boring, and you better take plenty of water as you risk dying of thirst.
