Since the hoarding off the map has been fixed, it's not a big deal to find vehicles. Just get off into the quieter parts of the map and you'll be amazed what you find. -

Hello There, Are you thinking about buying a server and supporting this game, well stop, read and think again. I have been a server admin for 3 weeks now and have been following this forum allmost every day, in that period. I've noticed an increased number of threads and appeals about Admin abuse and being banned / Kicked from servers. I've also seen that many of the threads are being spammed either by other people saying they have had the same experience or people saying its your own fault. I have been waiting for a post like this, but seems like nobody wants to step up and face the fact that the future of server admins in this game is only to laugh about. I Will now state the most common rights you get, when you buy a server. List of Features: Start / Stop / Restart Time Changer Configs of server (Change name, motd .....) Kick / Ban Lock Updates Now this seems like allot of features for an admin, but before i even start i will remove "lock" from the list, because this is not allowed and will get your server blacklisted. I do admire this rule and many hosting companys have applied the rule, so that if the system spots a server with password it will be shutdown until, pass removed. Then we have Kick / Ban, this seems like a fairly command for a server admin. But the fact is that if you decide that a user have broken the rules or actually hacked and bans him for it, you will find a post on this forum a few hours later with screenshots that dosent prove anything, other than he is not guilty of his crimes and shall be unbanned. If the player is smart, he will have his friends backing him up, saying they have experienced the same thing. In a few minutes the thread will have 10 posts saying that you abuse your admin rights. In the end it will be you that gets punished, for the fact that a hacker or a player that just wants to make your life hard entered your server. Now there is something called a HIVE LOG, and allmost everything is reported to this but, it dosent show shit other than spawning vehicles and disconnect. You can actually be standing right behind a duplicator, but in the server log it wont state the same. Yes he is getting allot of loots, by glitches, but if it so easy to see then dayz could make a filter and punish them. my 20cents go on the fact, that it looks like he just loots another alice backpack and not duplicates it.. who will win?! Start / STOP / Restart, you can use this feature but yet again. IF a player thinks you restart the server, just because he stole one vehicle, that dosent have to belong to you. He can make a post and wolla, you lose again. Whats left then? Time Changer Configs (Name, version ....) Updates... IS this worth paying 50$ a month?, in my opinion no!. I gotta say this is a great game and have been allot of fun, but the appeals and abuse threads are clearly out of hand..! My 20 cents, I know this thread will get spammed by people who simply dont care but either way my words are written.

After being in a group that owned a few vehicles it is a really bad state for them. Pretty much they never got taken out, since they were to risky to lose, practically the only thing we used them for was moving gear from point A to point B if our location got found out. Even then, they get stolen pretty quickly, Sad that the vehicles are so valuable you dare not take them out for fear you might lose them, pretty much just a storage unit. With static spawns, people just server hop the spawn points, if your travelling to find the camps with them that detracts from the game in my opinion, much more fun to have to repair a car in its spawn location than just finding it in a camp ready to go. My suggestion is to make them only be able to store spare parts and jerry cans, since right now, vehicles are a more secure storage space than the buggy tents. Could also despawn them every week or something to prevent hoarding, since a lot of the time, groups will have a few vehicles but only take out one when they leave camp, say like having two pickups an atv and ural, never use the atv and pickups and only take the ural out. Basically vehicles right now, are only good for finding other peoples vehicles. Choppers are just unnecessary in Day Z even if they are hard to hide. Just my two cents. -

I got that too once, on one who was moving around, playing... Killed him, FRIENDLY FIRE... Checked his body... no loot... nothing... no name... nothing... also his vehicles disappeared too... -

Vehicles except bikes and perhaps motorcycles should be removed entirely. That includes helicopters. This is supposed to be the zombie apocalypse. Do you realize how much maintenance and fuel it really cost to run a chopper? When the end comes they will all be gone in a few weeks. Same goes for all the military gear. Nice to play with but not realistic. The most realistic weapons in the game are the pistols, rifles, the crowbar and the axe. Oh and lets make the knife usable as a weapon. It's the only fair way to treat the issues imo. -

Whoever owns the choppers owns all the vehicles and all of the tents on any server. Who owns the choppers? The admin. They need a lot more vehicles in this game. We're talking 100 per server. People will wrech the shit out of them and there will be hulls laying in towns as they should be. -

Why don't we just make it so vehicles can spawn over and over and over again forever? Or until they hit a limit of like 3/4, 2/3, or 1/1 of the server's player limit? But give them a spawn chance of like 0.05% or 0.10%, either way statistically they'll be the rarest of items, the current rarest, other than vehicles, has a spawn rate of 0.11% and I think it's the GPS. -

For me, this whole mod is going into the wrong direction! I have a reallife, so when im playing a game i wanna have fun or the thrill(best both)!! But on an 250km map, wich is nearly empty, and all vehicles are hoarded somewhere north, its quiet annoying to walk 30-45mins to get where u want. But if theres a building there are z`s(Infected) u have to go prone, crossing a town in snailspeed is really no more fun!!! To all those "but thats realistic"-Idiots. Where the fuck is that realism? if i sneak around an empty town no Z or Infected would hear me unless they get Superears through the infection! Maybe they would see me if i was dancing infront of them.But its totally nuts they got aggro when they are 50-100m away in city while im in the woods! Hello??WTF!? U ever seen a Z or an infected? NO! But if they would be existing they would still have an human body. And if u shoot a human in the Leg with .50cal or maybe some asaultrifle, ur leg is fucked up! U cant used it, even if it u dint feel pain! And a .50cal bullet in the chest would fuck up ur heart, ur lung etc. Infact ur muscles need blood and O2 to work, even infected would be "Dead" or lets call it out of service! And can someone explain to me why a hit with an magnum deals exactly the same dmg as a hit with an crowbar!? Thats realism??LOL! -

just go off the beaten track ffs.....stop trolling around chern/eleck and expecting to find a jeep etc... finding camps is easy, same with vehicles. like posters above said check the vehicle spawns. they are regularily just sitting in their internet searchable spawn location...if not have some common sense and go look for them where u would hide one! biggest problem with vehicles is hackers, u can spend hours aquiring a vehicle to save it in a nice safe location for it to be wall hacked in less than a day....p.s above poster your right more Bicycles!!! it makes finding a car soo much faster! if u use vehicles to find more vehicles and fix them is the fastest way legit in game... -
Yea the Atv is notorious for that. Hit a little lag and that sucker will flip faster than a indited mobster. Just stay offem. As far as vehicles are concerned, drive like grandma and you'll be ok.

Yours is a good post. But the static nature and hoarding of the vehicles actually makes sense in a post apoclyptic sense. I think the solution for the majority of the playerbase however lies in easily available fast respawning SHIT vehicles i.e. bicycles and also KAYAKs.. kayaks would be fucking sweet for non-server owning proletariat to meet up with friends on the coast without any bs from the zeds along the way and getting sniped from a dude in a shiny pickup truck up a hill with his pro buddies. same for bikes ya know. they should be everywhere. they should spawn over and over. it needs doing imo. -

I've rolled out choppers on all instances now. They should start appearing after server restarts. Servers that havent been upgraded yet will have issues using vehicles (such as location and inventory not saving at all). Old hive will be deactivated shortly and those servers will cease functioning until they've upgraded.- 663 replies

Whats with the suicide bomber vehicles lately? Everything seems to blow up at the slightest touch. I hit a lamp post at about 10kph and vehicle went from fully green to OH GOD EVERYONE OUT NOW ITS GONNA BLOW! ATVs flipping like gymnasts and exploding for no reason... Im sure they didnt used to be so explosive?

Honestly, I think you're on to something. Perhaps the solution is simply to make fuel drastically more scarce. If fuel is more scarce, then vehicles have far less value. It wouldn't be popular AT ALL, but that's only because everyone has already been given their candy, and no one would be happy with it being taken away like this. Furthermore, the storage capacity of vehicles should also be drastically reduced. Something along these lines needs to be done. The experiment can only claim "reality" as long as things are consistent. As it stands, everything respawns in predictable areas leading to saturation of items -- mostly for the haves rather than the have nots because they have access to quick transportation that comes with a warehouse-sized storage locker built in. The only finite resource in this world are the vehicles. Everything else spawns over and over again no matter what -- from zeds, to weapons, to ammo, to medical supplies. Vehicles are the only things that don't, and that doesn't "make sense". The value of vehicles needs to be reduced in that they are really only effective for fast travel and that they only last for a limited time (fuel scarcity). Otherwise, there will never be an effective opportunity for vehicles to change hands. In a situation where anyone can just jump ship and try another server, I doubt you'll ever see many servers get a very large consistent population. Ultimately, everyone will continue to server hop until they find unclaimed vehicles. -
in real life, 50 cal/ 12.7 rifles would tear a whole foot or hand off even if they missed by a few cm... its a reason why they are considered "inhumane" and there are rules to only use them against vehicles/ structures. (not that they will always be followed in a war situation) They are called anti-material rifles because of that. I¨ve shot one, and its literally like a fucking cannon. my 7.62x51 rifle i use to hunt big moose is pretty much a pea-shooter in comparison. and thats more than enough to down a 3-400kg animal in one shot

I think you missed the point. I understand what you mean about the game needing to be hard and challenging, but there's a limit to this. I can fairly say that the new player-base probably has no experience with Arma2 or its engine before and it takes a hell of a lot of fucking around before you have even a clue of what you're doing. Playing standard Arma for experience just ain't the same after DayZ. The point isn't about difficulty, even though that might be the reason that one joins a private server. What Nalestom said wasn't about joining, it was about staying. There is nothing tying you to the hive servers when everyone wants to kill each other, your character can be transferred and vehicles/loot are all taken, that's why we have the server hopping Alt F4'ers around, because there is no reason to stay on one server. If your character is locked onto one server, you get just as much difficulty, I can assure you... and after you're there for a while, you stand to lose just as much as ever. The key thing here, is that when your character dies, you don't lose the people on the server and the community built there, since you can't just disconnect and choose another deathmatch. -
A few Weeks ago me and my two friends were hunting for some vehicles around the map when we landed on Myshkino. We were trying to get a hold of the offroad pickup truck that were supposed to have a chance of getting spawned there. We didn't find anything at the time but one of my friends, Daniel, suggested that we could go west on the open fields and look for hidden stuff, maybe vehicles or even tents. It was a great idea so that's what we did. We searched for an hour or so when we went up the hill about 1500 metres from Myshkino On the way up we didn't knew what to expect but it sure was going to be a surprise for all of us. We almost reached the top when we saw something very exciting. What we saw was infact a tent camp with 5 tents and 2 motorcycles aswell! We were really happy but we didn't know what was inside of the tents. We approaches the tents when we saw 3 guys guarding them! They were clearly an organized group of people who really wanted their stuff safe at the tent camp. Me and my friends had to set up a plan on how to do it. They didn't see us yet so we decided to make a triangle flank around them for us to attack at all angles. And that's what we did. We all got up on our feet and started to fire. Daniel got shot immediately by an AKM while the rest of us took them all 3 down. Me with my FN FAL ANPV S4 and my friend Dawid with his AK 74. We reached the tents and what did we find? 4 FN FAL ANPV S4 3 DMR sniper rifles 2 NV goggles 2 M14 AIM and a few M4A3 CCO's aswell as tons of magazines for both the rifles and many pistols with that. There was also alot of food and medical supplies there aswell. We got shocked by the amount of stuff but I made the plan for the team to place down our own tents on another server and transfer their stuff to our tents. One day later the server host got on vacation and closed down that server : ((((( Thanks for reading! : DD

All the weapons mentioned here (http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Weapons) are allowed in the game. All other weapons are not. Same goes for vehicles like the A-10 Thunderbolt II and Harrier.

Hey guys! Here is a useful link for you: http://dayzmonitor.com. You may register there and add servers you have tents/vehicles on to favorites thus keeping track if the server name has changed. Like in this case when the server gets renamed often: http://dayzmonitor.c...l&hide_restarts I had found a vehicle there on SE 6 and without the site I would lost is just because of server changed name to SE 5. And it kept renaming, lol :)

I have a long experience of sandbox "pseudo RP" servers on Garry's mod. All of them with no exceptions where managed by douchebags who would ban you because you do not play the way they want to: -If you would vote against them as chief of police/mayor/other position of autority. -If you defended yourself as they bullied you. Basically if we let servers do what they want we will have exactly the usual stuff going on. clan [TAG] server, dominated by [TAG] members because if you burn their tents or steal their vehicles you will have broken some kind of rule and will be banned. I do not hate server admins. but server admins are players too and if you admin and play on the same server, in a system where other players can roll over you, you will want to take actions because as the guy footing the bill, you feel you deserve to have fun. -

I'm so sorry to hear that. As soon as I saw 'sniper' I knew it was north. There are big groups up there and they store all the vehicles, helicopters and other vehicles way back off the map. They don't have a sniper they have many snipers over a number of servers. Especially watch out for US servers. Those exmarines are way to well trained. ;) Good luck with your next life. :) -

if been thinking about things that would help the game with over all gameplay and immersion rather than posting them in other threads separately i think this post will be more of a summary i would like people to comment and add things other than "bigger guns" "more vehicles" and that sort of things. these are like small things for game play sake and immersion. 1) since bandit skins have been eliminated i think we can all agree that for survivors ghillies are the new bandit skins, atleast from my experience i think it is sad, and would like a return of the bandit skin, if some what modified to a less obvious yet noticeable change. i suggested arm bands, which you can chose to equip from start in certain colors once you have killed it changes to black and when killing is a habit or your game and you have chosen to wear the armband it will be on both arms ? (or some thing like that) maybe make a notice since it is in game whether it is bandit kill or survivor kill, this would also help with clans and identification as they could use the clan tag option in arma to display a logo on the arm band (this would probably be some work on the devs part to realize but i think it is worth exploring) 2) gutting an animal for meat is a nice feature but it would be nice if the skin or feathers could be used for warmer clothes for example. (then you can have a third option to regain warmth) (personally i think it is a waste to kill an animal just for the meat in a survival situation) 3) cars and trucks have such a load carrying capacity that they are rarely used for what they are meant to be used, transportation, now they sit idle in far of fields as glorified tents which i think is a game spoiler, they should be driven, the roads should be alive with these vehicles, and limiting the load capacity would help with that a lot. 4) no backpack under a ghillie suit, irl you can not wear an alice under a ghillie and not even a patrol pack, a vest yes that can be worn under a ghillie so that should definitely be changed in my opinion because now there are too many pack mules in ghillie that carry multiple guns and loot which i think is unrealistic and does not help the game nor team play. ghillie = no backpack 5) working electricity there is a perfect thread around here explaining all that. http://dayzmod.com/f...l__+power +grid thanks for reading and i hope there are some constructive replies (edit for a bug) i received beans but there is 0 views thanks for the beans i needed that :D
