Blue truck at vybor gas station on DE 362
Nille (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey truck guy, just in case you are wondering what happened. I was shooting at you with an m107 from the fields and this toy seems to be quite effective against vehicles. Did you manage to get out of the truck before it blew up? Best regards -
I hope you're a bad troll as well. L2read. Let me break it down for you. The vehicles are "returning" to their spawn points, not where the drivers left them.

Kicked off by BattlEye: Script Restriction #55
Redshift replied to kyriel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My buddy and I are getting this as well. We were playing on Server A, took a break and logged off. Jumped on Server B because it was night time and we had a long cross country run to make, so nighttime was our friend. Once we got to where our tents were we tried logging back into Server A and we both got kicked for this before we could load in. No vehicles, hadn't even picked up any new gear (not even a can of food). When we try to "re-install battleye" we get a missing string error. -
So me and 2 friends repaired a car, and we saved it often, and suddenly it said session lost. We spawn in and it is not anywhere to be seen, will it be back where we last saved, because if it is not I will probably rage quit, no joke, 3 hours to get it together, and we lose it for a stupid reason. Is this normal, that every time a server restarts or crashes, normally 4 times a day, we will need to get a new vehicle. If so I think this is stupid, so what should happen after a restart to our vehicles?

Okay so, Whats the deal with cars?

Here's been my experience with vehicles in the last 3 days. 1. Get in vehicle 2. Travel to desired location 3. Hacker teleports to vehicle, kills everyone, hides/destroys vehicle 4. Rinse and Repeat Something needs to be done SOON!!! -
Hello there, This is more of a curiosity post than anything. Because of the tent bugs that has been going on for the past couple of weeks, our server has now become flooded with top value weapons, kits, food and all those lovely things. But for the majority of people in our group (20-25 of us) this is now ruining the game. As well as those bugged tent locations have been publicised on reddit and a couple of other high pop forums so people are just logging on the server every restart to grab kit then going onto their own server. What we are thinking about is flashing the server so everything is fresh again, we can have a new influx of players that can make camps because of the decent camp locations are filled with tents that are bugged or just empty (or full of wood). Also a lot of vehicles have glitched so when theyve been destroyed, they are no longer coming back and it has been like this for the past week. I think in the server, the only vehicles still operating are 2 ATVs, 2 bikes, 1 bus, v35 civilian flat bed, one pickup truck, ural and a skoda. Our group has grid searched the map for the past week and none of the vehicles are there. We have also searched the Debug planes. We are not doing this because we're being attacked etc etc or we have lost all our kit etc etc or because of the helicopter being stolen. The server is now overloaded with just tonnes of kit and because it's constantly respawning and idiots have been moving items round the tents (not by one of our groups) and saving them so one of the camps is spawning 6 L85s each reset and don't get me started on the 50 calibres -.- Tabz

Okay so, Whats the deal with cars?

was it out of bounds? they patched it so vehicles move if they are parked out of bounds -
Server: Norway 2 Time: 21:00-22:00 CET, 1. August 2012 What happened: Two buddies of mine found a big camp last night with over 10 tents and a lot of vehicles, including ATV, Ural, Pickup etc. It was the middle of the night so they took their time to drive all the vehicles up to our camp, but they left one vehicle. The next day, today at 21:00, which is less than twenty hours later, we revisited the camp as a group of 4. Now they had a bus, two or three ATVs, two bikes, GAZ, an old truck (not the Ural but the other kind) and a lot more vehicles, and they had additional tents. We looked through the tents and they had even more gear compared to yesterday. We started looting it, when someone either teleported or logged in. He killed all but me, and I killed him. I went to our car and went to pick up my new-spawned buddies. We went back and now there were more people, all using L85. We killed three of them and the camp was clear. Then all of a sudden we start hearing someone running around us. We start asking who is running on skype, but everyone is lying prone. We start scouting with the L85s and NVGs we loot, and we can't see anyone, but we can hear someone. Then we get shot one by one by someone invisible. Later I come back to retrieve the car I had hidden about 800 m from the camp, and all of a sudden I have a red GAZ behind me. I am officially in my first DayZ car chase, but I tell my friend on skype to get in a position to unload into the car if I drive all the way to his position. About five minutes later I'm there and he starts shooting. The car stops but he did not recieve a murder. We scout the area but cannot see anyone. I drive towards the car and I can hear footsteps, but I cannot see anyone. I continue to circle the car but I cannot see anyone, and neither can my friend. I get out of the car to see if someone is rolling under the car or something, but still nothing. 10 seconds later me and my buddies blow up, and we hear that someone start up the UAZ that I drove. We're pretty sure he went invisible again and started putting satchel charges around us. The weirdest thing is this. About 30 seconds after I respawn, another hacker teleport to my location and said that he had been watching us while invisible. He said that the other guy that killed us was named Umar. I know that this information probably cannot be trusted as it was a hacker that told me, but I checked the playerlist and there was a guy named Umar there. The hacker that told me was named Scrub or something. The coordinates of the camp is approx. 088096 on Norway 2. It should be south east of Guglovo. I'm not sure what kind of power the devs have or how they would go about punishing anyone for this, but if someone want to get all equipment ingame, they can go to this camp and hope not to get shot.

Yes another "get rid of sniper guns" whine
Nam Otatop replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So the best way to fix duping issues is to set unrealistic limitations? You can't come here asking for balance under the guise of realism then demand unrealistic features. Basically what you mean to say is "Duping needs to be fixed" (which it can't be, Rocket has already said this too). So the way to stop duping is to punish legit players like me who have multiple tents filled with rare loot gathered through legitimate means over the space of 3 weeks, not a few hours camping one spot. This isn't going to stop dupers, you only need 1 tent to dupe. Infact you can dupe some items without even using tents. Most people who loot cycle use vehicles for storage anwyay since putting your tents near a high activity area is idiotic and lugging loot miles would defeat the point of loot cycling. And once again, how is loot respawning at all realistic? I don't take something out my fridge, come back after 3 hours and it's replaced. Yet again, you're asking for balance changes and throwing the word realism in to try and justify the changes. -
Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info

new vehicles don't reliably save. -
Mine would have most of your things, along with these. Complete Seasons, (fall, winter, summer), maybe depending on what the server location season is More vehicles - Snowmobiles, planes, ultralights, boats Huge map including Islands that take maps and boats to find. Massive cities like Atlanta size ALL houses to be enterable Naval warfare - the ability to raid boats and drive them incredibly far with instruments only The ability to move vehicles (Especially the PBX, be able to carry it in shore and hide it) Streams and rivers that cut through the land Zombies that don't glitch out, maybe slow down the zombie movements but increase the frequency of them by a ton. Also maybe Zombie hordes, with 50 to 100+ zombies gathering and roaming the countryside. More weapons and equipment. The ability to create player housing. Gather wood and supplies to make a cabin or fortress. Different types of ammo per gun. FMJ, Hollow Points, Tracers

That's the joy of this game. It is what you make of it. First it was about surviving, then it was about finding vehicles, then PVP, and now it's about destroying your clan. All good fun man. Don't get butthurt over the metagaming.

On top of hills on the far western and northern borders of the map (I mean right on the edge) you shall find tents and vehicles. Also because of the new heli spawns, Skalisty Island is a hot spot. -
WHAT IF: Region's Zombie Spawn was linked to Humanity?
bbilbo1 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like to propose a new feature. This proposal is a non-intrusive, region-based environmental reaction to general player activity. I have no intent on railroading players into any specific gameplay, nor am I proposing a direct 1:1 cause/effect directed at individual's zombie spawn. This will, instead, apply an improved, dynamic, player-driven world. PROPOSAL: -Zombie spawn was region-referenced instead of the current player-zombie spawn system. -The region kept a log of all player interaction, such as PvP, bandaging, blood transfusions, trading, looting, etc. -When entering a region, the player's client would query the region's Humanity Rank on the server. -The zombie spawn for players would be proportionate to the region's logged humanity. -Zombies would NEVER go away completely (nowhere is completely safe), but would be a less in high-humanity areas. -Places prone to high-levels of murdering, stealing, and PVP would be swamped with zombie spawn. Things That Will GIVE Humanity To a Region: LARGE GAIN: Giving medical attention to another player. (to always help, or at least do no harm has been the cornerstone of medicine and society) MEDIUM GAIN: Dropping food and drink to the ground that another player consumes. (breaking bread and sharing food with others has culturally always been an indication of civility) SMALL GAIN: Fixing objects/vehicles (tool-making and realizing "the whole is more valuable that the sum of it's parts" is a human concept that gives us strength as a community unit) TINY GAIN: Killing Infected (ridding an area of the infected menace means a benefit to all) Things That Will REMOVE Humanity From a Region: LARGE LOSS: Killing another player for any reason (bandit or not; taking the life of another human being will ALWAYS remove humanity) MEDIUM LOSS: Shooting at and wounding players (to do harm to others is to cause suffering, suffering drains humanity) SMALL LOSS: Vehicle and Object destruction (To take something useful, and destroy it goes agaist our ways of survival) TINY LOSS:Looting (although justified by resource scarcity, taking something that isnt yours from a body, or someone's residence is wrong.) So, Here we have a system in which players are free to do whatever they want, as they can right now. But now, players' decicions have an actual impact! Currently, we have a static, cold world that offers nothing, no matter what we do. I'm hoping in this system, the world would offer several things: It gives objective, feasible consequences to actions. Many folks believe it is our actions that ultimately shapes the world around us. This finally gives us a feature that does exactly that! It finally will give players a visible metric to measure the community's level of game-based humanity. No more idle speculation on the forums and complaining about what other players choose to do or not do. We will esily see the work of other players. It will finally allow non-civilized areas to spawn infected. In short, If there are other people, there will be possible infected. Cities, farms, wilderness. ANYWHERE. Players are demanding a safezone? Let them make a safezone for themselves! Kill the infected, dont be assholes to each other, and eventually, with a little upkeep, maintenance, and player-run policing, you have a *relativaly* low-spawning player colony. (Until a clan of bandits show up, over-take the colony, and throw the area back into hive of lawless infected and criminals.) I'm not saying 1 player kill would spawn a swarm of zombies. Nor am I saying 1 or 2 backpacks full of bloodbags and transfusions would make the region friendly. That notion is way, WAY, too small-scale for what I had in mind. What I'm talking about here is VERY LARGE NUMBERS. How large? My idea is that it would take a community of players (one way or another) for an extended period of time to influence the region's environment positively or negatively. That means one or two players spamming an action couldn't, practically speaking, be solely responsible for influencing an entire region. In order to min/max my system on a solo, small-scale, you would ultimately need to repetitively collect incredibly massive amounts of resources. Ultimately, increasing your chances of encountering other players and taking those resources just to spam actions for ridiculously extended periods of logged-in time. In short, players won't actually see their actions influence a region on a solo-minded scale. Only in cases where there's an strong overabundance of positive or negative Humanity actions, whether that be the result of player cooperation and teamwork, or a more passive, "Everyone ends up doing 'X' in this location" activity. What would happen and what would the effects be to this system? Tell me how all this would pan out?- 96 replies

There are a lot of posts recently about this Battleye Script 55 Error. We are hoping Battleye releases a fix soon for it soon. It appears to be related to vehicles in general, but happens a lot around choppers. A work around is to join another server, move away from the location you got the error, then attempt to relog back into the server. -
In this episode I start just west of elektro where I find a bike and have a Big problem off the bat .After that I ride my bike looking for cars I find many along the way some work but most dont. Welcome! You will encounter much hax and buggy deaths. Still a wonderful mod (for a shitty game) though! The chance of finding better gear is much greater up north. Check out the Northwest Airfield on this map: http://dayzdb.com/map#5.044.051 All of those red dots have a chance to spawn nice weapons and accessories. If you like hunting people, get gear then go hunting! If you like helping people, there is a thread on this forum detailing a group of people who go on rescue missions to help wounded survivors. If you like hoarding shit and amassing wealth... well, I'd say make a base, but with the rampant hax going on it'd likely be a waste of time. IMO the best way to have fun after you're geared out is to group up with a couple friends and go hunting for other groups' bases and vehicles. I've got a pretty solid set-up for gear, and all I do is run around with my friends looking for bases with mass-dupe caches (250 .50 cal rifles, 250 gps/nightvision/rangefinders/etc.) and destroy them. The most fun I've had in DayZ was riding in a vehicle with three pals and driving right past another vehicle with strangers in it. There were 9 people involved in the fight that ensued, which went on for about 10 minutes. One of my friends survived. Myself, everyone else, and both vehicles were blown up. We ended up contacting the other team and joined their Ventrilo. Now we're friendly enemies who often hunt each other! We even give vehicles to the enemy team when they don't have any, and they reciprocate. The dynamic of vehicle battles... it's so much fun. I strongly disagree with the "there needs to be" part. I agree that running forever is boring as hell, but having to physically locate friends typically forces city/zombie/player interaction. This is also what vehicles are for!

Tools to kill, but nothing worth killing.. we're drunk with power.
Gooch0 replied to robinhood (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually, this is the best statement I've seen about how I feel about the game. I personally enjoy hunting other player, and get satisfaction in knowing that others are doing the same. It just makes this game that much more exciting. I DO NOT however hug the coast with a sniper rifle picking off re-spawned players. There is no fun in that. I think a small problem is having decent lot so close to the coast. Now, nothing is going to stop a$$hats with a 2 inch stubby e-peen from hawk-eyeing the coast, picking off un-armed or under-armed spawners. But having 2 large cities and an airfield on the coast kind of makes this unavoidable. For example, I'm way up in the northeast coast of the map a few days back, minding my own business when I get put on my back by a sniper round from way out. I never heard the crack, only the whip. So whoever shot me was WAY out. I was on day three, had a nice set of survival gear, crappy guns, but my first ghille suit! Was I upset? Sure, but not raging angry. That's the game! I was in what I would have considered, swapping places with my killer, a free kill zone. I spent a good hour last week sniping folks in Electro before I was finally spotted and sniped out. I wasn't in the mood to farm food, I had plenty especially with a hatchet, matches and knife I'd never go hungry again. So what's a guy to do with a hunting rifle? It's really hard on populated servers where groups are already formed to get any ground as a solo player. They are always watching each others back, they will just camp a body until their buddy comes back, so good luck looting a kill. I've seen a bunch of folks in some servers have fleets of vehicles, haha kinda funny. Or they will just camp high value targets, which is what I really think the games meta should be about, at this point anyway. The problem is, some of these high value areas are on the coast. I don't want to have "respawn" areas, I like the freedom that this games gives, but the people that play this games half a day everyday with their unemployed buddies who are armed to the teeth kinda bum out new players and players like myself that....well lets be honest, actually go to work, haha XD. (A little jelly ;) ) I'm not crying "It's not fair" or anything, I'd rather have a job trust me haha. I guess what I'm getting at is as this game gets more involved internally it's going to get harder and hard to just "pick up and play". At this point, on populated servers, I kind of feel like a sea turtle. If I can just make it just far enough inland I'll be safe for a while, until I build up gear and brave the more valuable loot areas. I'f I can't escape the coast it's because I got F'd by commando joe and his band of merry men after I spawn. There is no really big reason other than the main airfield in the north west for anyone to venture and stay inland. Other than that airfield it's one town in the center of the map, and then the huge towns on the coast. All that to say, maybe new maps like this new "island" themed map will help issues like this. Also, once my buddies see the brilliance of this game I'm hoping they see the light and join soon. It's really hard to trust the "friendlies" that shoot you in the back when you turn around. -

Apparently Day Z players are not the only ones sick of Arma's engine
a sleeping dog replied to Bad Science's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
After reading this I now believe that we should be able to scrounge up parts to make IED's and place them on the roadsides to blow up vehicles. Other than that, the Army offering a specific dollar amount for a product they want to see made is no different than your local grocery store putting an in store brand product out to bid. -
"Sorry you may have been a friend, you just weren't worth the risk"
Icus replied to Gogster (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It amuses me that, in a real zombie apocalypse, many on the forums seem to think everyone would hold hands, sing Kumbaya, and work together in a world full of monsters ready to eat them at every turn. That's not the case. Ever see what happens in a city during a mass evacuation? Here's a hint: It's not cooperation. Sure, many people do the right thing and flee with their families, but many also stay behind and pilfer what was left behind. They smash open stores, homes, etc and loot whatever they can because at the end of the day, humans are opportunists. Sniping a lone player in a field is an opportunity in this game. An opportunity for rare loot, or basic supplies, that enhance your ability to survive. Believe it or not, there is already a great incentive for group play: It's more fun. I usually play solo but also often manage to get friends together once or twice a week to go on loot runs, hunt for players or vehicles, etc. You can't trust someone you just met, that's the way of the world. A false, videogamey reward for group play like bonus damage against zombies or a higher chance for loot or whatever it is you think the game should do to force players to play how you want would undermine everything this game does so well: the freedom to do what you want. -
ok so me and a friend were just looting the barn in elektro and out of nowhere I was banned? admin if you see this please unban me for I havn't done anything wrong. My camp and vehicles are on this server. My ingame name is anthony

No need to bump as he answered your question. As frustrating as it is you will need to wait till the next server restart for your tents and vehicles to come back
