[From a bandit] You suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it
malcotch replied to Creambomb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree ..one fix I want to see, if you die you lose all your shit, your inventory gets reset, including saved tents, vehicles etc. -
Hi. Am I the only one who thinks that there are not enough vehicles ? Don't get me wrong, they should still be rare but not as rare as at the moment! If I am playing DayZ with my friends and we hear a enginge sound we are freaking absolutely out ! We already hat cars to and it was a lot of fun. I dont' understand why 98% of the vehicles are broken or destroyed. this is just not very realistic. If a apocalypse would start and the people would die there would me a lot more vehicles out there. I mean the cars don't crash theirselves and If I get suprised by zombies in my garden and die, my car is still there. I know chernarus is not a city like New York where you can find cars on every street. But this Island has 3 airstripes........c'mon :D where are the cars ?? The second problem is that 90% of the people who get a car, drive it to the North and hide it in the bushes where they can find it again. So it will take reeeaaally long until this car will be destroyed or stolen and spawns again. So if 3 more groups do the same on the server.........yaaaay almost all vehicles are in the woods and may never be seen again until the next server reset. Don't get me wrong, this is not a wine thread. I love the game and I will still play it, even with that less vehicles :P I was just wondering if you think the same. Anullu

Dayz guns - what changes could guns use? My opinion.
Cyanide_Power replied to Cyanide_Power's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I get it, but every sane person I met agreed even upon having L85A2 AWS that it is overpowered. I know what you mean about harshness and unfairness of the game I get it. Id just like to get some more action going. For me I guess action isnt laying down in a bush 800m away from my victim. I prefer the CQB, face to face contact. But as you could see I gave some reasoning and agreed that sniping is a fine art and should be kept a fine art. And you cant tell me with a straight face that 15y.o. kids running about around elektro/cherno with duped AS50/M107 + L85s is an answer to "Someone needs to pay for their mistake". I know thats a really aggressive point but I killed those kind of guys, I despise of them and I encountered duping even in my group. Thats absolutely the worst kind of shit. Theres lots of people in these forums which are having troubles surviving their first 40 minutes every day. Im not one of them. But I feel for these guys and I hope some day we will resolve these issues and make it a better place, (A bit balance, no duping and a big items/vehicles wipe) -
Inventory Not Saving on Logout
KField86 replied to AquatikJustice's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It's not just inventory. It's the hive itself. It's just plainly not saving things properly. Thats why we have this massive amount of duping, inventory disappearing if you disconnect too quickly after obtaining it, vehicles reappearing fully repaired. Driving a vehicle, hitting something and breaking it, only to hop out and back in and it's fully repaired again. Things like that. It has to be a problem with the hive itself. -
DE 184 - Closing/Locking Server and kicking.
[email protected] replied to revxspray's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah that's lame how people do that. I don't agree with it. Locking and passwording the server to steal vehicles and stuff. It's just the same as hacking - it's cheating. Sure maybe they locked it to test their patch or upgrades or something? But all the time? Unlikely. Also on Server DE 184, my buddies and I found a camp with about 8 tents, 2x ATV's, white pickup, green Ural, blue Ural, blue scoody doo van, red car, tractor, and UAZ. We stole a couple of your vehicles and blew up all the other ones. Took all the shit from in your tents, threw it away and saved your tents with nothing inside. Then drove away with all your good jew gold! Bahahahahahaha!!! OH YEAH! Then we found a camp near Elektro and fuckin wasted like 5 guys trying to get to their camp. One guy we questioned at gunpoint over ingame comms, then I executed him with a 50 cal to the face. Lmfao -
So i recently bought a server like a week ago, we managed to finally play alot today and acquire some vehicles. We saved each and every vehicle literally 10+ times. We put a tent down also to see if it would save. Once i restarted the server, all the vehicles were gone (the tent too) Nothing was out of bounds, or even close to it. The vehicles are also not at their initial spawn points. What happened?

A tale of the stupid vehicles...
[email protected] replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Admins cannot reset vehicles, admins can reset the server and thats about it. if someone were to steal all vehciles from an admins camp, then the admin can't do shit about it. There have been issue's with vehicles loading in from time to time, and ofc there are always hackers. So far we have had no vehicle issue's xcept the UH-H1 but bout to make a threat about that. all cars have always been loaded in succesfully, at their left off positions. If a car happens to be missing, and u don't see it dissapear as u described, make sure its is stolen. Remember; NOWHERE on the map is safe ! people will find your camp and vehicles, its only a matter of time. -
Need help to understand car item logic
[email protected] replied to suito's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
50 Items means 50 ITEMS, their slots are not calculated. meaning u can have 50 weels in there ( eventough they take up 6 inventroy slots) 10 weapons is a harder one, Its is weapon and tool slots. ex: 10 AK-74's can be stored, or, any combination of this: weapon + binocs + gps + nightvision+ rangefinders+ matches + hatchet etc ... everything going into your toolbar + binocs, rangefinder and NV's count as weapon slots. Backpacks means u can store those (even with items in it!) when server restarts, u will loose EVERYHTHING stored INSIDE the backpack tough. u will not loose the backpack. VERY important: do not forget to SAVE your vehicle with the desired items. If u do not save the vehicle, items may dissapear. Also there are some bugs still with tents/vehicles not saving corretly or not at all. but as far as i know, vehicles have been saver to store then tents atm. Hope this helps u a bit -
- Friend's Rangefinder gets duplicated every time he removes that item from main slot, and after each server restart. - Same thing happens with NVG and GPS but only after server restart. - Friend's Grenade has countless of uses, yeah - he doesn't even need to relog nor wait for server to restart, he can throw countless of bombs in row. - Our vehicles (3x) are spawning gear after each server restart - no matter what we take from our stash that gear comes back. - Our tents, same thing as vehicles. - About 20 tents we found while looking for places to hide vehicles also spawn gear after each server restart. - Etc... Question: how? We didn't do anything to cause this, played and looted as fair as possible and still this happens all the time. It's kinda stupid, ruins idea behind this game. Sure, I can chose to "forget" about access to every weapon in this game by just running to the nearest forest and play with Lee Enfield in Elektro but still... it's just stupid. Is there something we can do while looting/taking vehicles/tents to stop them duplicating gear?

You guys seem quite impressed with yourself over a feat that took "weeks" of time. I've been around for months and AFAIK (or can remember) you've been here the entire time. So it's taken you months to do this? Xerpt, we knew about your "infiltration" for quite a while. Some of us knew for certain about what was going on once you took screenshots of Charlie Squad's base. We recognize what was happening immediately (mainly Salgor as he witnessed it). He mentioned it in TS: that you had taken screenshots and posted them and that you were attempting some kind of "infiltration". Members asked for your removal from the guild and that you be banned from the TS. But without proof, I assume nothing was done. I thought at one point that you had been banned, but then I came on and you were in the TS, so I assumed it had been "worked out" in some way. Not really my problem so I didn't say anything. Plus, I've taken up for you and been nice to you and had no reason to speak up against you yet. You recall that you were on our forums complaining about "immature" behavior after prior to that complaining about sound clips being played here and there on the TS (on pretty rare occasion). So when you were on, those of us that did it, stopped doing it while you were around to please you. You kind of have to ask yourself after your actions (which are now proven in this post) who is guilty of being immature. The answer is pretty obvious. In response to Fengshen's post above: if your footage is "loads of GBs" (which you are uploading) or even a GB for that matter, you're doing it wrong and don't have a clue what you're doing. You don't upload raw Fraps footage to YouTube. If you can't get it down to a few hundred MB at max then something is wrong. As far as Charlie Squad's base: we don't care. Salgor and I bring in loads upon loads of gear daily and have been doing so for a while. We eventually just started giving away the position of the base as we were able to get loads of chopper crash gear so easily in droves that it just didn't matter. 99% of the time we own nearly every vehicle on the server ourselves, because we put the work into finding and getting them (the same for the gear that we have). Also a lost chopper is not a big deal, because we can have it back (Charlie) within 2 hours max with incredible ease. The game isn't even fun for us anymore because of how easy that it is for us (between just the two of us knowing how to get the gear we want quick and easily). I barely even play now because of it. People lose vehicles in 5 minutes and we manage to keep ours for weeks upon end. Personally, I have never once lost a vehicle (or chopper) in DayZ. That's how well we manage to keep gear/vehicles. In reality, you worked for 6+ weeks on a failed operation, "exposed" a base which we willingly gave the position away for (for at least days prior to the screenshots I know for a fact) on purpose because we didn't care if anyone knew anymore (and after this you took screenshots) and took out a few clan members (shown in the video) next to a chopper (and failed to destroy the chopper from what I'm told) but even if you did destroy the chopper, I know that within 1-2 hours of this video we had it again (fully repaired with the gear we have stored in multiple locations for this very purpose). So you must ask yourselves: do you need to work on your "META" game? I think so.

Glad to hear you got your problem fixed JFZ. I think of JFK everytime I see your name. It has been confirmed by multiple sources that the Battleye 55 error is related to vehicles. Many people say its from Choppers crashing or cars crashing also. Explosions, or related scripts to cars. -

weve been having problems with our backpacks turning into older versions (still carrying our new loot though) that we had. (have a coyote backpack with say 4 cooked meat turn into an alice with 4 cooked meat) and the vehicles might come back on next server reset if thye wernt stolen. -
A tale of the stupid vehicles...
Disgraced replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles are resetting all over the place. Its either: A database fuck up from adding helicopters back in Or Your server admin resetting vehicles so they can grab the helicopter on their server. I had two vehicles in two very different locations, and they disappeared. So it's a database thing. -
So basically, my friend and I are heading towards a place where my car is located [it has plenty of weapons; 3 DMRs lol don't ask why] and we get there but my car is no where to be found...we're basically stranded. We find a tractor nearby but it is completely fucked. I ask my other friend to pick us up in the offroad truck, but somehow it's not there. Brilliant. The only other vehicles we have are two tractors and a VW [we used to have a URAL but it was blown up in a raid]. My other friend checks the tractors for stuff and, magically, the VW disappears before his eyes. Ultimately, we are stuck. 5k's off any town...8k's off base camp. We have no other vehicles that can fit more than two people. Such buggy vehicles and servers. OH I forgot to mention: My backpack, upon logging back in after dinner, ate up my M107. Brilliant, isn't it? Anyway, I guess we'd better start running.

If everything was gone its more likely that the tent just failed to save and it all your stuff just disappeared on server restart, itwould explain the loss of enfields, nobody that far up the map has an interest in stealing them. A server restart will often spawn another tent right next to it. It has happened to me a few times now over the last week and I have heard from a few admins that tents and vehicles are not always saving correctly in this current version.

Hello, I am bringing up my third server and want to try something a litle different. I have one wild west anything goes server, I don't do anything to it but restart it.I have one private server, I play on alot, and now I would like to have a clan server. I don't want to run a clan, no time, I don't want to do anything but play. The clan would have to have someone who knows what they are doing so I can give them some admin access. I will be playing some in the morning and some weekends other then that the server will be admin free. I will shut the server down for a week, month, for good, if there is any spawning of vehicles or weapons. I don't care if you shoot every new spawn you see but do it fair, no bs hacking. Other then that I don't care what anyone does. Message me if you have a group that might fit the bill.

If you fix up a car and switch servers, does the car go with you?
[email protected] replied to Dr. Disco's topic in New Player Discussion
I think this is the second most fun thing in the game for me right now. So don't get discouraged that you can't take them with you. Once you get one car (faster road vehicle) it's loads easier to look for other vehicles. -
Friend and I play on this server due to having a boat and a late bicycle (RIP). We are cruising down the East Coast near Solnichniy, when two cars passed us heading north, they give us a few short range rifle shots and we book it out to sea. We're low on fuel, come back to visit the gas station in the three valleys area and we hear their cars coming back down, they pass us within 10m quite obviously looking for our boat. We get back on the boat and go around the south coast looking for any signs of those juicy vehicles. While stopped at the lighthouse between Cherno and Elektro we spot them again. After losing them again and finishing up our tour we head back towards Skalisty Island. Then stuff gets fairly tense, a fishing boat is on the island that wasn't there before. We pull a "gone in 60 seconds" and 3 minutes later we see a guy come down to the coast looking for it. I make a 500m shot which earns a kill on a clan tagged member. We then decide to get off the coast and then the server goes down for 30 seconds. Logging back in we get kicked again (only clan tagged people seem to be on now). We got back on, made it to the island and my partner who took the boat out to sea after I got kicked again picked up the car on the east coast which followed him as he turned around back south. He beelines it to the island, losing the car around the point, and we hear a helicopter. These guys were serious, but they obviously didn't know we had an AS50 with NATO rounds. We don't get a clean spot, and they disappear northwards. Deciding we threw them, we go to loot the body, which turns out to be a ghillie suited fellow with basic gear on him... An fairly exciting day, but it sure wasn't cool abusing admin powers to deny us loot and attempt to gain our PBX. copy-pasted from the reddit topic http://www.reddit.co..._server_de_653/

I know the game already and i know what i'm doing for the most part. I play to have fun but i do like to play serious and try to stay alive for the most part. I have decent gear. I have always been a lone wolf in DAYZ so i havent gotten to experience certain things like raiding, vehicles, or traveled the whole map yet. I mostly play around NW airfield, Cherno, stary. I have decent gear. Fav weaps: I haven't touched a whole lot of guns yet but my favorite ones so far are the m16 or m4a1, glock 17 or PDW, not a lot of sniping lol :]. More about me: I am very very friendly, i don't single anyone out, i love teamwork, im very trustworthy i do not/will not betray my fello team, i am loyal and once i join you guys i will stay with you guys for as long as you let me and i will treat you like family. Intro: Hey new players, presumably a lot of you bought ArmA II for DayZ alone and I'm just gonna make a little post on how you can improve yourself at DayZ/Arma in general, as well as not losing interest, which I'll point out some keys in the way you should look at your starting days. How to prevent losing interest: Now, I've had lots of friends buy ArmA for DayZ then lose interest after dying a few times, and haven't ever played again, and I realize that dying when you just start if frustrating. However, there's measures you can take to prevent these deaths and overall loss of interest. First thing's first. Learn where each spawn location is, and where you should head from them to find some mediocre loot while maintaining a relatively safe route for PvP. This will drastically decrease your amount of deaths, and will set you up for success later in these lives, as you'll have loot to set off for friends, or even solo with. You can find the name of your spawn here, and see which places offer the easiest, yet necessary loot. http://dayzdb.com/map. Now please note, this map does NOT show high PvP areas, but based off the loot/sizes of areas you can see which places are common for snipers/PvPers in general, I'll also include a list down below of each area where PvP generally happens, and the danger of it. Also, another thing you can do to avoid deaths is notice patterns, or behaviors you take that lead to your deaths, such as not being careful enough, getting too impatient, etc. The last thing to keep in mind to avoid losing interest is that there's not much in DayZ that gets interesting fast. Everything in DayZ, or in ArmA in general takes time, and if you're expecting to find the best loot, a helicopter and have a tent full of guns in 10 minutes only to die, you'll be disappointed. Getting better: Now for getting better at Day Z. One thing you could do is get a group of buddies to play with you, and have each of you communicating via TeamSpeak, Skype, etc. this will give you a lot of support, my only warning doing this is be prepared to fight over guns, and be the leader, and break up the fight before it turns into something ugly, and breaks the group apart. Next thing you could do is try to play some other ArmA gamemodes and practice in gunfights. ArmA is a really really realistic game, and if you wanna get really good at it, I'd suggest trying ACE mod. ACE is another gamemode in ArmA where you basically try and clear enemy presence across the map during player made missions, which is pretty cool, but it also allows you to have certain jobs within a squad so you can practice teamwork as well. Ex, medic, in ACE being a medic is very similar to DayZ in the sense you have to pack a lot and always be ready to throw yourself on the front to save somebody else, while still maintaining safety for the rest of your buddies. However, that's not all you can do in ACE, in ACE you could be a squad leader, which will help you, when making decisions for the team in DayZ. One great thing about ACE is that it gives you the feel of getting shot at and the reflexes on how to react to it. Because I can't even count how many times my buddies whom solely bought this game for DayZ have died because they think during a firefight it's appropriate to just prone and hope the other guy loses sight, which in some cases (Ghillie suit in a field of grass), it is an acceptable response but a majority of the time in cities etc, you have to revert to an all out firefight, and at times it's a 2v1 firefight at times its a 5v5 at times in really populated servers I've had a 10v12 firefight, but that's besides the point. The point is that you can lose interest in Day Z and ArmA as a whole solely on the fact that you're not well adapted to how the style of game should be played, and my suggestion would again be to play more of ArmAs offerings, and play in a group. Playing tactically is gonna make you win your gunfights a whole lot more, and survive a lot longer. YouTube Tutorials: One last thing before the PVP chart, do NOT I repeat do NOT follow a YouTube tutorial on how to play Day Z. Not that they're bad or anything but a majority of them are made a million times, which means every jackass troll in Day Z has seen them and makes tactics to counter them. You want to develop original routes, original tactics and learn from the best of ArmA. I can almost guarantee to you those trolls in DayZ with the AS50 (Not to say it's a troll gun it takes plenty of skill to use without rangefinders at distances about 500m) only came to ArmA for Day Z, so if you can practice up, get yourself built up in strategy, manpower, leadership, and firepower you'll be an unstoppable team. Dying: Dying is part of DayZ and yes, it sucks. However, although losing everything you just worked for is a real bummer and can sometimes be from the most absurd reasons, don't take dying as a chance to call it quits. Each death is a new learning experience, so take it that way, and just try again. This ties in with the whole losing interest topic, and really it's a part of Day Z that cannot be avoided because eventually you're gonna die, everybody is gonna die, and the only thing you can do to try to stop it is make it less frequent by following some of the tips here. PVP Zones: Please note that these notes based off of my experience in Day Z. Northwest Airfield - The most common place for experienced, and well equipped players to camp for loot is here. Snipers are incredibly common here, and if you go in here recklessly you'll more than surely die. There's a lot of tension and firefights here, if you plan to loot it I'd recommend being quick, but quite. It's one of the highest PVP'ed areas in Day Z. Stary Sobor - This city is just as normal to every other city, with the exception of the tents in the back of it which allow for some quick, semi good loot, to good loot if you're lucky. And that is what turns this place into a sniper haven, let alone looting these tents gives any sniper enough time to calculate your range, and carve your name into his next round. Be careful here, and try not to attract much attention. Balota Airfield - It's a common place for newly spawned players to have conflicts with each other, and a fairly common place for mid-tier equipped players (Remington 870, guns in that category, maybe a M16 etc.) to look for ammo, etc. However, the tents closer to the shoreline have the best loot here in my experience, and are rarely ever watched because they're covered by trees on the northern side, and have no hiding places on the southern side. So they're commonly safe to loot. Elektro - There's snipers who sit on the hill directly north of the power plant (The place with a firestation, and huge smokestack) here. They mainly watch the top of the schoolyard and hospital but they will be looking around occasionally, most of the players if not all the players you see in the city itself are gonna be newly spawned. Experienced players don't like to come here often because it's not a source of a lot of loot they'll be needing other than a hospital but even then it's probably already looted by all the newly spawned players since most of the games spawns are on the East side of the map. Cherno - There's snipers who camp the silos and back of the city (near the hospital/apartments), but they're easily avoided if you're safe not to expose yourself for a long enough period of time. However, there's plenty of rogues in the city itself too, so be cautious when running through Cherno, especially on highly populated servers, and if in a group always be looking around for other players, and be careful going anywhere. A lot of the players here will be newly spawned, there is however a chance you could run into well equipped players looking for med supplies to restock their medical tent at their base, so always be on the lookout for them, and if you see them, it could either be some easy loot, a ticket to book the hell outta there, or a death, you decide. Zeleno - This city is located almost in the middle of the far west side of the map. It's pretty large, and contains a lot of residential loot (Ghillies, food, water etc.), but I've rarely ever heard gunshots here, and have never actually killed anybody here. I've seen a few people walking into it in a team, but other than that, I'd call Zeleno pretty safe from my experience, but still despite what this guide tells you, be aware as it is a place for people to come looking for ghillie suits etc. Berezino - Definitely the largest city on the game, as well as the least traveled. It holds 2 shopping centers, 4 military spawns plenty of gas stations/industrial spawns, but rarely any dead players. I've seen a collective of 3 dead players here, but unlike other major cities in Day Z there's not really many vantage points for snipers so most of your engagements will be close quarters. a lot of this is contributed to the fact there's almost no tall buildings and you're surrounded by large empty fields, which let it be known, can house a lot of helicopter crash sites (which contain some of the best loot in the game, including the AS50). Northeast Airfield - This is one of the least traveled areas in the map, and to be honest I've got no idea why as it contains a helicopter spawn, which is probably the cause for most the gunfights that go on here, but besides that this airfield is relatively safe, but not really worth going to. I'd rather go into the city near it for industrial loot to try and fix up one of the vehicles that may spawn nearby. That's it guys, I hope I helped. Enjoy Day Z, and I wish you the best of luck. - boat

My group of friends had several base locations and supplies on US 810, one night we discovered an area full of tents. We took the most valuable loot and ran over the remaining tents with our van. I know this isn't the most ethical thing to do, but it happens. We ran into the owner of the base on the way out; a group member of ours was shot off the back of a motorcycle shortly afterwards. I found the nearest road in our van and went as fast as I could. I hid the van in some trees and listened for any other vehicles approaching; after about 5 minutes the server shut down. The server will come on at random times early in the morning for a few hours, then shut off. I just want to know if this kind of behavior is permitted. This is an awesome game and an even more original modification, I really appreciate all of the time and effort that has went into it and don't want to lessen the experience of another player from this post. https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/216.244.82.202:2302/

Becoming your typical FPS PvP game?
@ndreas replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
... the "problem" is that you can hop servers with your gear whenever you want. If you were forced to stay with your complete character on one server, you would probably think about being the guy that jumps around for fun, shooting whatever runs along. Eventually your server would know who you are, where you hide and could decide to chase you down, so server population could keep their world as "clean" as they like it to be. But by being able to hop servers fully equipped (even while engaged, which is clearly cheating/exploiting as well), your actions don't have a real consequence, because you will not meet the same players every time and if you die, equipment is fairly easily obtained if you are only out there for killing spree. So there should be something implemented that forces you to stay on one server with your character (like your tents and vehicles do) and for those who equip twinks on other servers maybe a limit of say max. three characters (I'd prefer only two, just for being able to play if your home server is down) being alive at once on different servers. I really think you would see a decrease in silly killing then. -
OP, if the jerry can doesn't have a big red cross and say empty, then it contains 20L of fuel. To save, simply mouse wheel down/up and wait a second or two (you might have to move around a little), then left mouse click or press your action key (Enter by default) on the 'Save ATV' option. The vehicle only stays on the server you saved it on yes, and make sure you save it often if you move camps or location, as on a server restart if a vehicle is unsaved it will be reset to the last know position and gear items. Just a quick tip, don't get attached to it, nor the gear inside of it, I have lost three vehicles (including an ATV) to hackers already, so if there is anything you really desperately do not want to lose, you may want to keep it in a tent that you know has stopped emptying itself, or keep it on your person/in your backpack. Hope this helped :)
