    i think it would be kinda neat since arma is a millitary simulator, and is all about squad controlling, to have possible rare npc's that can be found and fall under your list of squad mates. Then if you find extra weapons etc, you can arm them but the downfall is obviously that they will require food and drinks as well, plus it would be kind of neat to have them drive vehicles for you, or carry stuff for you. Alot of people play solo and i think that with this element, it would make things more interesting since it's so hard to find friendlies to begin with, What does everyone else think? I'm also talking about this as being a RARE thing to come by NPC survivors, but would be neat!

I was a long time player of Zombie Panic: Source which I held a mod position on a server for, L4D and Dead Frontier (Zombie MMO). Currently my character is tooled up with M4A1 CCO SD, CZ 550, Revolver and ready to go, I have multiple vehicles/tents set up on different servers and willing to play and move wherever I am needed. I am currently looking for a dedicated clan with multiple members online to experience everything this game has to offer, I'm a team player, never leave anybody behind and will give my blood for the clan if needed.   4. I have had this same problem for a while now and getting pretty tired of it. The Debug Monitor fades away sometimes at completely random times when I just walk around, but most of the times it happens when I loot. Especially vehicles and tents seems to trigger this. All other parts of the GUI are still there, except that the food/water/blood/hearing/visual monitors are not functioning any more. The debug monitor reappears after ~30 minutes with varying consequences: In earlier beta patches (up to 95054) I would get teleported back to the same spot where the monitor disappeared, with no gear lost. Funnily enough, in patch 95208 everything seemed to be working fine. I played a whole day without any problems. From patch 95248 and up I don't get teleported anymore. If I'm lucky, the monitor kindly returns and I can eat again. But in cases when I loot and transfer a large amount of stuff during the time when the monitor is gone, I get a crash to desktop (CTD) with the following error: "too many virtual memory blocks requested". When logging back in I spawn at the same location where I crashed, but with the gear I had long ago when the monitor disappeared. A quick workaround to the problem is to log out and log in back again. However, this also has consequences: Sometimes my recent loot (~2-10 min) is not registered, and I lose everything I have picked up If I go into chock when the monitor is gone, the chock state will be there until I log out. This results in 5 min consciousnesses every time I log in, and the only way to get rid of this is for my character to die and respawn. Other problems occuring when the monitor is gone, adding to the previous list of problems: Can't refuel vehicles Can't save vehicles Can't pick up vehicle parts or jerry cans Can't equip clothing/suits. When trying to equip camo suites, civilian clothing is duped but the clothing is not changed. After a few seconds I'm beeing teleported to debug plains, and after relog I spawn with all my gear on the coast. As I have admin rights to our server (Vilayer) I have checked the web console log and found that my character is not updated during the whole time the monitor is gone. I can't really say what causes this, but I have reinstalled everything client side, and tested with different networks with no luck.

When tent duplication on server restart is remedied add an item ID on each item, unique, and long so that when other duping methods are used all the items with the same ID are destroyed and the ID is recycled for other items. I am not sure whether this will put more stress on the HIVE. Add street lights that work (some not all) that can be turned on by adding fuel to a large town emergency generator or something of the likes - something that takes effort to put on. this will allow people to illuminate big popular cities for a duration and add extra flavor and more a more genuine feel + another objective to focus on. Remove nametags in the game, they make rangefinders obsolete, it may not be able to be stopped in the Arma 2 engine but when it is a standalone game I expect it to be gone. Until the hacks/cheats are stopped, rename this mod "Grief Simulator". Make no 3rd person servers have 3rd person only available for vehicles - it is a joke landing a chopper in first person. Make an automated mailing list that emails every subscriber to this service when a new Day Z patch is out - I manually update since i am not retarded. I think to stop server hopping is this - fully released Day Z should have 1 character for 1 server, and remove cross server play, so you have different lives on each one... it would make field defenses such as barbed wire useful and you would then actually be able to build a real base that no one with low gear can just server hop into... it would feel more genuine if you had bigger server capacity and no cross server functioning... or alternatively make it so you spawn in a random starting zone location on log out?(i know that would make server hoppers jumping through barracks cry but why not half the fun is running around for hours on end).
  7. Part one. Yesterday me and friend of mine have decided to raid some camps north of Gvozdno. (To prevent holy war: our camp was raided several times, too - and i think it's a part of the game). We got there on our stolen volkswagen (stole tractor on the way there). In the camps we found after searching for 20 minutes we found some guns and nvg. Full of ourselves, we drived back. When we were passing Gvozdno, i accidentally touched street light with my wheel. Speed was maybe 1-2kmph - i was slowly moving between the trash pile on the road and a fence. The moment i touched street light, i was BattleEyed from the server 'for scripting', and my tractor instantly exploded and disappeared faster than i could get back online. I was lucky to not get hit. After hearing a lot of new information about myself from my friend, i got in his car and we continued driving. End of part one. Part two. Today me and friend of mine.... ...blahblahblah... ...Gvozdno...blahblah... I got out of the car to check market. He decided to drive out of Gvozdno to wait for me in the forest. And then he touched this goddamn street light. While turning. At almost zero speed. Both of us were crushing into the walls much harder before - but this Pillar... This Being seemed to multiply the damage and transfer some of it into astral form, hitting not only his physical body, but also his soul. He was battleyed for scripting, car exploded and disappeared. I fixed his leg, wounds and made a transfusion. It saved his life, but his love - extremely slow on the dirt, unhideable yellow volkswagen, is now gone forever. End of part two. Epilogue. Wtf was that? What's wrong with this street light? Is it supposed to kick players and destroy vehicles just like that? Why is it allowed to do all of that? Is it some kind of Forgotten Street Light that no one believed to exist since the Crusades?
  8. Whoever said that the tank needed to be armed? And no one said that the vehicles couldn't be damaged. There are plenty of non-lethal weapons systems (examples:LAVs with tear gas, and water cannons) that are used. Besides that there are plenty of civvie craft that can easily be flown.

    I would guess so yes. But a temp fix would be really easy either open a file find xxxxx change value to xxx <this would change the color/visability of barbed wire npc and vehicles so you either have to be stood on top of it to see it or just make those pixals invisable! Or you could delete the corasponding files... Im sure alot of people would be very happy for this to happen, Dont get me wrong im not one to moan "i cant play fix it now the patch is overdue" type of person, I would rather wait an extra week or 2 while they test the fix just incase other players become affected and i cant see anything near a friend!

  11. I dont think there should be more vehicles than guns, or at last, not any vehicle :D I think Bicycles should be A LOT more common. It would make the world more interesting too, because players in vehicles will stick to the roads since they are faster there. That way, villages and towns wouldnt be that empy anymore :/ Military vehicles should be rare, so each vehicletyp should have an own "spawnindicator", meaning that for example Bicycles have a chance of, say 80% to spawn, common civilian cars and Motorbikes 40%, Heavy load vehicles (for exmple the ural civilian) 20% and Military vehicles 10%, the helicopter of course only 5%. This must not mean that any vehicle spawnpoint can spawn any vehicle! Of course not! But, lets say a map may contain 10 vehicles, the chance for a bicycle to be spawned is a lot higher than for a motorised vehicle. Also, there should be more bicycle spawn points. One could also make bicycles an own category, so that they dont influence the pool of motorised vehicles. Whichever way of overhauling you use, there definitely should be MORE vehicles, and i think that at least partially, each vehicle class should be treated with an own spawn propabilty, so that the games "supply" works the same way other goods in Dayz work: Basic goods for basic survival should be found often and anywhere, special goods for not so basic needs should be found in certain places only and not too often. The more a tool or item or vehicle is not "basic" the harder it should be to be found and the less it should be spawned.

  13. There (occasionally) is an NPC who runs around the map, gets in vehicles etc. Sometimes he has good gear and other times not so good. Anyways, these messages (from experience) have shown up whenever we have shot this NPC. Kinda amusing when you see him at/near the top of the zombie kill scoreboard (I think the name is george smith or something).

    Im thinking you guys dont know anything. You do realize that there is easily 8 instances of teleporters and or vehicle spawn in per day, I review logs and ban anybody involved in illegal actions. When people spawn in illegal vehicles they remain until the server restarts, battle eye is so easily disabled that the server console doesnt even show the scripts being run, I have easily 2h spent per day on server maint and banning/log review and it is not always apparant that vehicles have made it in until I run those exact item IDs.... and arma has many many vehicles. I suggest you people join the TS if there any issues unless you have done this you haven done your due dillagence in reporting and you have no right to flame me in these forums. TS is 24.68.136.91:9999 get on it or find another server.

    weee, another person who doesn't know the difference between Arma and DayZ. Also, you can put vehicles/tents beyond the border, but they will get wiped. Do your research, before posting.
  17. The map needs an invisible wall or a giant fence or something. On my server, i am in a group of 9 players. But there are no cars, no bicycles, not motorboats, nothing! Instead we found huge camps with lots of Loot *evilgrin*. We are roaming the server for a week now and all weve found concerning a vehicle was an old Hatchback, in the midst of a forest near the map border! So, of course other players had the car, and thats completely okay. But whats not okay is that many ambitioned Players are so ambitioned, they put away all the vehicles from the map and put them somewhere into the middle of nowhere, Kilometers beyond the maps border! Why? For trolls sake, i guess! Just to make sure no one else will get a grip of it. This_Plain_Sucks! Indeed i think a helicopter should be able to cross the borderline, but only when he is in the air! Once he lands on the land beyond the border, the players AND the helicopter should be killed/destroyed/despawned! Yes, Dayz should be a hard game. But also hardgames must work within some rules! And since most of the players arent capable of controlling their inner troll, i think rocket should do something about protecting those players who still see a game to have fun with in Dayz, and not a place to troll the guts out of all the other players around them! Vehicles are an important part of Dayz, and nobody should be able to put them to rest 30 kilometers beyond the maps border, save it there and then laugh about the other players who are madly looking for one, especially since theres maximum number of vehicles "active" anyway!     Why the hell are there so many guns?

    Picture an outbreak like the one in chernaurus. If something like this happens the army (U.N even) will be there, this for me justifies the weapons and location variations. The variety is good, but ammo would be more scarce the longer you used it. Respawning more ammo is a big no no. That's unrealistic, it wouldn't happen. Unless the map was bigger and allowed more places for military gear. Most people in this part of the world will have a plentiful supply of eastern block weapons, others like American would be rare after intervention, I think the mod relays this well. I do think there would be more vehicles available, however fuel would run out pretty quickly and we're missing some millitary vehicles. Then I wake up and realise its a game.

    Well there are a fair few vehicles, the problem is, the moment they spawn, people go to them and get them all and then horde them on the map.

  21. We just need more. the fact that there are more Assault Rifles in this game than there are bikes is weird... and the amount of vehicles in dayz ( 2-3 per server ), makes absolutely no sense. ( i understand that there shouldn't be a lot of helicopters, but i would say 3 max ( one for each airfield )) let's say for example, i'm in my backyard and a zombie comes out of nowhere, eats my face and i die. My car wouldn't just blow up out of no where. In real life, the car would still be intact. that being said, i understand that having a fully fixed car spawn wouldn't be that much fun either. so what i'm suggesting is that, enable more vehicle spawns, but still make it so that you need to repair the said vehicles. ( repair 4 Tires, Engine parts, Fuel tank, and 4-5 jerry cans, That in itself takes a lot of time if you're playing solo. getting 4 tires from high loot industrials back to the car spawn to try to fix it, let alone being able to find a repairable car. ) as of right now, only the server admins on the specific servers are the only people who are able to obtain and maintain their vehicles. for example, I killed an admin and stole his car. The admin can then proceed to do many of these options that i've been faced with 1. boom, ban hammer 2. temp kick 3. server restart/rollback I know there have been topics about Vehicles but as long as i've searched for none of those topics have mentioned the fact about why there shouldn't be more vehicles.
  22. And another server gets screwed by hackers. My group had a vehicle or two spontaneously disappear, then one of my group decided to check Skalisty Island for the chopper after a respawn. What do you know, a whole crapload of vehicles are out on the island, including two Ural trucks that had mysteriously vanished overnight (same gear in them as before, definitely the same ones) and even two boats in the middle of the island. I don't know who's doing it, but I'd advise avoiding US 322.

  24. Hey all. I'm seeking infos regarding the GE 2 server and potential issues it might have encountered in the past 48 hours. Since Direct Comms isn't reliable in-game and/or the admin didn't see my messages while being logged in, I'm asking it in here. My group and I recently picked GE 2 as our constant gaming server since the ping and server load were always more than decent and all the more so since we found and repaired a Huey and 'borrowed' a good few vehicles someone had obligingly gathered in a single remote location. However yesterday saw us log back in to find no trace whatsoever of both our vehs and tents pitched here and there, and random kicks out from the server happened a few times. Upon checking on server trackers it turned out the server had been restarted a few times in a short interval. Trying to log this morning gives me a now locked server with only the admin and a couple of his chums in. Now, the most obvious thing we surmise is a server defect/trouble that led to the server manager needing to take steps wiping recent local logs/saves, but we're reduced to doing suppositions, annoyingly so. Other players have suggested less agreeable eventualities but given the way GE 2 has been handled so far we doubt it. So, if anyone (hullo ttd. guys?) has infos regarding the recent GE 2 issues we'll more than gladly hear about them. Cheers.
  25. The problem is not that vehicles are to rare, because they are not. There are plenty of vehicles, but most groups hoard them off map. When you can just have one account to save your off map stash every 24h, it's not any problem to keep them there. That's why most players never get to use a vehicle in DayZ. I stash anything I find in the debug zone. It's pointless to spend hours repairing a vehicle only to have it stolen when I'm sleeping or at work by another group that will just stash it in the debug zone.
