Lol its funney how people bash good ideas like this on these forums. They definetly are a part of the group of people that are causing the problem. If they change this their experienced of this game "how it should be" gets ruined. I will vote for the OP's idea just cause it will mess up all those players game experiences and they actually can go to sleep at 5 am in the morning when a server resets and start searching for their vehicles. These people should stop posting untill they have something worthwhile to say. So yes i support this and not because i never found a vehicle (stole them, found them, lost them). Something is messed up with this system. The way it is now you can stash more gear in a vehicle then a tent while a vehicle is for transport and a tent is for stashing. Messed up so ye change that. Random vehicle spawns will definetly give a wow effect if you do find one. Now you just search the preset locations and voila got 1 again. Car parts are definetly a joke. I find them more then cans of beans. If one of my vehicles get broken i have them fixed in no time. Our team just splits up go to a few locations and an hour later we are on our way. More variety of stats to vehicles would be great. Now bigger is better due to more storage. -
This is a bug. NOT a hack. It has to do with vehicles and I am not sure what the fix is but there are a ton of post about this. I would use search here on the forums and even google maybe.

The vehicle system is badly designed, but I don't think adding more vehicles will necessarily solve the problem. Simply making it harder for clans/admins to locate those vehicles by spreading them out similar to helicopter crash sites will allow for a more even distribution of vehicles, as I've said in earlier posts.

Was just on ca79 in elektro and heard multiple explosions/gun shots by the church and fire station. Having picked up a few grenades the night before on the same server I was not to alarmed.....so after scouting out the town and seeing several zombies argoing someone around the fire station, I decide to move in closer. I made it through the school/supermarket/hospital with out a scratch just a few bodies scattered here and there. I made my way to the church , in the doorway lay a body and across the street two more bodies. Looked like a pretty good gun fight just broke out before i got there. the guy had an ak74u but with a grey clip ? so i studied the body and his name was robert or robby ect cannot exactly remember. So i closed the door to see if he had any suspicious gear, but nothing out of the norm except his od looking ak74u. *no it was not the akm* As I'm in the church I hear the sound of a horn and very quietly someone talking over the mic........ THEN BOOM. I opened the door and looked around I noticed two charred up vehicles outside of the fire station, Looked like the white pickup and a black suv I have only seen from videos. as I looked farther down the road leading to the beach there was the biggest mob of zombies I have EVER SEEN IN THIS GAME. I ran my ass inside the fire station to see if anyone else was taking shelter......There was a guy in the stair well just spinning around.....Freaked me right out and I shot him dead on the spot. I walked up the tower only to argo that massive mob my way. As i run up the stairs there was a body on every level except the top where i hid out until the zombies wandered off.....It got really quiet and freaky so after a few moments of almost breaking out into a heart attack I logged off and made my dinner. So if anyone was on around 5pm today and you were there for the action... Can you fill me in on what exactly happened. *note I was so sure a hacker was about to instant kill me at any moment so I really did not care if I was killed, just was really curious on what just had unfolded* Sorry no pictures I didn't even bother turning on fraps I couldn't have been bothered with all same hack attacks coming every few moments, no point in making more videos and wasting a gig a minuet on that bs.

I find the vehicle system to be horribly designed. They are non existent for pretty much anyone but clans and admins. In two weeks, I've found a bus and pretty much just use it for storage as it's a pain in the ass to drive around with all the roads being blocked in and around towns. I found an ATV but it was flipped on it's side and apparently my character is not strong enough to push it back over. I found one truck and one chopper in their spawn locations but the server disappeared. Now, I've only seen three vehicles being driven and two of them were on my first day. The third was a chopper flying over head. I'm not asking for grand theft auto type vehicle numbers. But the numbers now are ridiculously low. -

I hate to break it to ya but jumping to servers to raid a camp is a bannable offense regardless if you or another of your group members jumps servers to find the camp. You just admitted to server hopping. You don't have to log in to 100 servers a day to be a server hopper. So, your buddy was server hopping and logged in on the hill our camp was on. Saw it was there. Called all of you onto our server. You took all the vehicles and probably drove them back to your camp location which is on a different server. Changed servers taking the gear from the vehicles with you and then blew up the vehicles seein as you don't need them anymore? -
What I do is I get all the other clans vehicles and just drive them into the ocean

The tents issue is now sorted on this server, we are now just trying to see about vehicles! -
It appears vehicles randomly disappear and re-appear on server restarts, even after saving them. We have tested this out, with no real logic conclusion. This does seem to be a hive issue though. I can't confirm that cars are currently in, since i had a bus at some point but it keeps disappearing from the spot that i saved it in. A few days later its back in the same spot, now its gone again lol. BTW, No server has settings that can affect the vehicle spawn rate/amount or anything vehicle-related for that matter. If you found one vehicle, then there are more. The map is big after all. I'm sure there are some hidden camps... The server isn't that young, hence why there are a few groups who have created bases. EDIT: So i was talking to other server hosters on the IRC. It appears other servers are experiencing the same issues with vehicles not updating properly from the dayz hive... It's random though. Let's hope it gets fixed soon anyways.

Hehe, yeah stealing vehicles from a clan is a blast. I found a group's Ural full of gear the other night and the last two nights they have been circling the map in their chopper looking for it lol.

Ethanol, methanol, and bio-diesel. You can use "reality" to explain an end to gasoline, you can't use it to explain an end to fuel for internal combustion engines. You'd have vehicles running on vegetable fuels, you'd also see the return of wood/coal-fired steam power. On top of that it won't matter how much gasoline is left because modern gasoline doesn't store very long. You'd be able to find gasoline for years to come, most of it would be useless, though. Lastly, any argument based upon realism is doomed to failure. Realism isn't the main course, it is a spice, and like any spice how much is needed is entirely subjective. :) Oh, and one other thing. I'd be perfectly happy if the vehicle spawns worked similarly to the downed helicopters. Lots of random spawn points all over the map that could spawn any vehicle, while still keeping the total vehicle count relatively low. Any gameplay that can't be subverted with 10 minutes of research on a wiki is a good idea. -
And I agree. Vehicles are first come, first serve; and that's the way it should be. However, there are way too many people that take advantage of the fact that all the vehicles in Chernarus have fixed spawn points. They exploit this by stockpiling them to keep players from finding them in the world, forcing them to resort to running along the very edges of the map to find a vehicle. The idea I mentioned in the OP about having vehicles have a greatly increased number of spawn points encourages exploration and prevents stockpiling for a longer period of time, allowing vehicles to be spread more evenly throughout the community of that server.

I get your point, but that is already happening. So the process would be the same as now: Player is unable to get access to passworded server because it is being "exploited" by the admin/owner/clan. Player comes to the DayZ forums and informs the DayZ Team. DayZ Team blacklists the server due to admin abuse. Problem solved. Same goes for the hording scenario Player joins server to find it has been picked clean and the admin/owner/clan is stocking all the gear/vehicles. So while I understand your point, again its not as big of a problem as your making it out to be and certainly isn't going to be anymore of a problem than it is now.

I guess vehicles with thermal imaging would be a natural predator for soldiers using thermal imaging for their night vision devices. Edit: I.. I think don't want to fight people with thermal imaging scopes on their rifles where ever I go. I surmise that the importance of thermal imaging on the battlefield is one of those paradigms that currently is thought to resolve combat in an area. I guess in the end, such a paradigm will have to be viewed with regard to its context, where the scale of conflict or range of weaponry is factored in.

Me and a friend were playing on UK666 and we came across a camp hoarding 6+ vehicles. We destroyed them and left. The next day we are driving along and get out of our car to raid a heli. As we were in contact with the heli, The server restarted or crashed. Then as we logged back in, someone was taking our car, with multiple people there. Nobody was around before. So upon seeing the person(s) my friend shoots, as he shoots and kills the other player my friend dies. So to my knowledge the admin teleported to our location (Admin Abuse) and killed us. I would deeply appreciate that this server be looked into or taken down.

First, stop pulling numbers from your ass. Second, if you know the vehicles are on the side/top of the map then what is stopping you from going and getting one? The only problem I see is that people want a vehicle to always be waiting for them where a map they downloaded outside of the game says one will be. They're too lazy to actually do the work necessary to find one. Cry me a river. EDIT: If this post irritates you, perhaps you should stop and be honest with yourself about why it irritates you. You might learn something. What you're calling the "Vehicle Problem" is actually a feature. Vehicles are rare, persistent, and first come, first serve: working as intended. There is nothing inherently wrong with that feature, nothing inherently wrong with that design. You're just upset that other players aren't playing the way you want them to. -

I personaly never use any vehicles besidse bicycles simply because they're pure evil. Don't trust these monsters! -
It's posts like these that irritate me. Not once in my first post did I ever say I had trouble finding vehicles. I know where they all are. I'm talking about a widespread problem that, in my mind, needs to be fixed. I'm talking about something the devs of the game probably want to see changed. This is exactly why people like you shouldn't be able to speak out. Instead of focusing on a problem and coming up with a real solution, you just accept it for what it is and say the game couldn't be any better.

Butt hurt cuz you can't find one? :'( poor guy. Found a bus and 2 offroads, repaired them (Taking 3 hours in total) And are now used as inner walls of our base, with wire on the outside, stopping you from getting in. They are also storage, rescue and raiding vehicles. -
when you save a tent it stays on the server. You have to go to the same server to see it again. Same goes for all vehicles

If all those vehicles are up north why don't you just go find them and take them? It really is that easy. Anyone who complains about vehicle hoarding doesn't know how to play simple as that. I'm sorry if my group sees another vehicle were going to take it wouldn't you? -

Today our camp was assaulted and 4 players were killed. I managed to get a msg from one of my friends to spawn in. After i watched them destroy our camp they took off in my very hard worked for UAZ. I shot two of them, one aborted, and I killed one (Tommy). The server IMMEDIATELY restarted. Coincidence? No! If you are going to own a server WHY NOT PLAY RIGHT!? My friends and I got all those vehicles legitimately. Our group is rather angry at these 4 players. Two of witch we know (Tommy & This Game Is Hilarious) We would appreciate if you would play fair, I DONT CARE you stole our vehicles but aborting and restarting a server! Thats just plain wrong. It is our mission to now find you, take what is our back, and kill you all. Good Luck. -

We make it a point to use vehicles to hunt for vehicles, and then destroy them, drive them into towns or give them away. -
