It's a shame you weren't there 3 days ago, then. I killed a bus driver (while it was moving, obviously.) with a CZ 550 and then destroyed the wheel so the passengers wouldn't be able to start it again, in two shots. I'm not even proud of myself, anybody could have done the same even with a fucking MP5. The only vehicle that's actually hard to stop/destroy is the Huey. All other vehicles are civilian vehicles and ridiculously fragile.

Randomly banned for no apparent reason on US 260.
cydax35 replied to cydax35's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I did play in the armory with a friend on a passworded small server only for us that I made and hosted on my own computer. We wanted to try out a number of different vehicles. I've read somewhere that the reason that Day Z is so hackable is because of the use of scripts. I also read that scripts are allowed on non battleye servers or whatnot. So I looked around and found a vehicle spawning script. We went into the armory on the small passworded server and had some fun. After that i went to sleep and when I got up in the morning i was banned... //Edit: I can also play on some servers but not others... Like, I can play on GB #500, but not US 260... -
Hi all, I've created this post to suggest some idea that could increase the already good realism of this excellent mod and its forthcoming standalone version. Some of these have already been written in this forum, so I putted here just to be complete. 1) Introduction of slumber: - Time of sleep should be from 1 to a maximum of 8 minutes (I know it doesn't simulate a real time sleep, but it is an online mod, so think about the consequences), depending on how it takes to recover the "slumber" bar completely. - Obviously a smart player would rest in a safe zone in order to avoid ugly surprises with zombies or bandits. - While sleeping the screen fades to black but you can still hear sounds around you, so that players can awake at any moment if they perceive something wrong (this would add suspence) - Introduction of sleeping bag - Introduction of cofee (that replenishes a small quantity of slumber, due to caffeine contained within, as well as coke) - Consequences of not taking care of sleep: high sway while aiming with weapons, all movements slower than normal (including sprint), probability to faint or falling to the ground, blur and strange shadows at the corners of your vision (the last one was suggested by Daerk) - Slumber should be implemented in a way that player shouldn't be forced to sleep every 20 minutes (you can if you want), but at least once a day. You can even stay 2 or 3 days without sleeping, but then you have to face its consequences - The "Slumber idea" could bring to the game more realism, thrill, strategy, preoccupation, awarness of the enviroment: in other words more DEPTH. - (UPDATE) Introduce a reward mechanic such as regenerating health (1 to 10 points per minute) and stamina (this idea was suggested by Moofactory) - (UPDATE) Sleep on the ground if you have to, but risk sickness from cold and rain and not regaining as much slumber than sleeping in a bed (this idea was suggested by OW22) 2) Zombies adjustments: - The fast respawn of unfinished hordes of zombies in the same area should be eliminated - Slower (a bit) the zombie sprint - At this point, to balance the whole thing, zombies should be harder to kill... - ...and should make more damage - There should be more zombies at night - This way, the challenge won't decrease and keeps going on high levels and, at the same time the credibility, the sense of fear and desperation increase a lot. These should force players to avoid zombies instead of confronting them: survivors have to think twice when there are zombies nearby 3) Introducing Specialties: - Don't get me wrong, I don't want a perk system like COD or Fallout - Only 2 Specialties: Medic, who can heal a little bit more health point than normal and Mechanic, who can repair vehicles and weapons (if one day there will be a weapon consumption feature) - Specialties should be earned through practice, so that a player experienced in healing squadmates finally should be able to become a Medic and to heal more health points for example (same thing then for mechanics that could repair a vehicle faster or to make weapons more durable) - In other words, the main aim of Specialties is to difference players slightly, without compromise the balance of gameplay - (UPDATE) A medic could do a successful blood transfusion without risk of infection, a marathon runner or athlete would be better at running and vaulting, also depending of the weight he's carrying (this idea was suggested by OW22) - (UPDATE) What about introducing some sort of questionnaire (gender at the beginning, previous occupation, obby, etc.). Depending on which character will be created through this questionnaire, players could have different loadout and spawn location. For example a mechanic may have a jerrycan, engine parts and a crowbar and spawn in house near a factory. A tourist may spawn in a house in a small coastal town or on the beach with a flashlight, beans, pepsi and a coyote backpack. A farmer may spawn in a barn with a hatchet, cooked meat and a couple of 2rnd slugs. Then you could have also have medic, policeman etc. Varying starting skins reflecting this could also be used and no further gameplay alterations are made (this idea was suggested by NobleBrutus) 4) Crafting: - The number of items a player could create should be slightly increased. Nothing more (this is DayZ after all, not Minecraft). - A little more fortifications (?) 5) Radio: - Nothing new to say about this, the forum is already full of posts about radio. Just I hope the developers DO NOT add any new media such as TV, Internet connection (depending on where/when the standalone would take place) - What about implementing Morse code? 6) Map: - Possibility to view the map together with your mates (one man or the whole team) if they are close enough, in order to set attack plans, routes, rendez-vouz, ecc - In this case should be introduced some kind of indicator while viewing the map together, such as a hand with a finger or similar, in order to make your mates understand what to do and where to go - (UPDATE) Label function with possibility to make notes and mark points on the map. Possibility to draw arrows from one point to another (this idea was suggested by Moofactory) 7) Misc: - Close combat should be improved (possibly not overpowered) - No unlimited sprint (also, only athletic players can run more than normal) - No currency (money), just bartering - More realistic visual and sound effect for thunderbolts in situation of heavy rain - Addition of actions like playing guitar around a fireplace or play cards with your mates during dead moments (I know this sounds weird or stupid, not all of you will be agree so let me know what do you think) - Improved phisics (further versions should fix this) - More player characters (same as above) - Remove flying vehicles: in a post-apocalyptic world, a player would logically escape from the island as soon as possible. This doesn't have sense if someone wants to play this game - Possibility to block windows and doors using wooden beams or other objects like a wardrobe, couch or armchair - Possibility to hide objects by putting them into a box and dig it underground - Introduce weapon consumption or some other alternative: for example, the player have to clean his weapon once in a while to keep it efficient, especially after he shooted a lot. (thanks ChazSchmidt) - Introduce seasons - (UPDATE) What about lockpicking? (this idea was suggested by OW22) - (UPDATE) Stamina is weakened by lack of sleep, water, food, or appropriate clothing (temperature/environmental conditions causing reduced physical capabilities). Being wounded would also temporarily reduce the maximum level of stamina for a period of time, even if you were just shot and then fixed up by Doc Wasteland's crew, you're not immediately "back to 100%". Instead, you must "take it easy" for a few days. You tire easier, and cannot run as fast, etc. Very slowly, your stamina maximum level regenerates to normal (this idea was suggested by Daerk) That's all for now. Let me know what you think about. I will keep editing this page. PS: I apologise for my English.

I know very little about hacking in DayZ, how diffcult it is or how prevalent it is. I have been in servers where I suspect hacking has occurred, but it seemed to target either vehicles or all of the players on the server. Either way it didn't ruin the game for me, I don't expect to be able to hang onto vehicles and my stash remains untouched after two months of play. Still having fun, still getting a rush, still looking for bicycle :)

must have made someone mad there lol find their server, find their camp, rape them a couple and then destroy their camp thats what i'd do :D Edit: and make sure to record it. Revenge on Youtube is so bitter for those whom have to take it. But, tbh i'd rather have you ragequit over you getting admin powers, and go rageban if someone stumbles across your tents. I have a team, i shoot zombies, and nothing is wrong with placing tents. And nothing is wrong with finding, looting, stealing and destroying tents / vehicles. Also, pretty much selfowned if you publicly announce your name / what server you play on... but sure, blame rocket, its all his fault!!! Edit: i know what server you played on 2 days ago. Took me a few minutes, including grabbing your name from one of your Videos. All I need is my browser. It sucks though, seems its not polling all servers / not giving back all players logged. But I know of better ways to track you down if i needed to, and there's no need to involve hacks. I suggest to a ) change your name b ) change your name daily or put an overlay if you stream/record videos c ) change servers instant or just go your ragequit all the way, like a boss

US 863 shutting server down
melted349 replied to Simonius5000's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well I am one of the admins in of US 863, and you know what pisses me off the most about your post? We have an email ([email protected]) and a mumble server for you to contact the admins about crap like this. Secondly, we never shut down the server for crap like this. We ALWAYS give a 10 - 15 minute warning about server restarts (unless the server crashes, which does happen). But since you obviously never noticed the global message that pops up EVERY 10 MINUTES on our server that tells you how to contact the admins, then you probably never noticed a restart warning. Another problem with your whining post is that you didn't include any names of the players that were in the vehicle, you didn't tell me what time this happened, and you included no screenshots, no proof of your claim, nothing. Just whining. There are times script kiddies get on our server and do crazy things, sometimes this causes our server to crash. There are times we will do an emergency shutdown (when script kiddies are teleporting people and killing them), but that will always be announced first before the shutdown. Simple put, neither myself, or the other two admins of 863 would ever shutdown the server because someone shot us out of a vehicle. All of the admins and some of our friends all died trying to fix a helo and take off in it, we didn't shut down the server because of it. We play fair, we keep our server fair. Shut your mouth, you obviously haven't played on our server or joined our mumble server we host for our players. We go out of our way to reach out to the DayZ community to provide a great server to play on. And we have lost several vehicles over time, restarting or shutting down the server is never something we do. Yes, it should be dealt with in a serious manor. Admins that do abuse their server should be shut down. And there are admins out there that abuse the server. But we're not the bad guys. The jackass that started this topic didn't even provide the names of the players they killed. You saw three murders? Awesome. Who were they? (Admins are myself (melted349), red-404, and dazoe) I was gone all weekend for USAR Drill, and I'm gonna bet none of these murders was either of the other two admins. It so funny, how apparently us admins shutdown the server to save our vehicle, yet we let you back in to torch our vehicle. Oh right, because this isn't a case of admin abuse. Just a case of a whining child that didn't pay attention to warnings about a server restart which just happened to be shortly after you shot some people. Someone else mentioned something about know who the server admins are. Well at least on our server, every time an admin joins there is a global message announcing it. There is always a global message announcing our mumble server and our dayz email ([email protected]) that you can contact the admins directly. You want to accuse me or my fellow admins of abuse? Back up your claim with reasonable evidence. I'd like to think we run one of the few decent servers out there, but players get butt hurt over the slightest restart and throw out claims of abuse when they are the ones that don't read the global messages, don't attempt to contact the admins directly themselves. You are the ones that should be dealt with. And if I wasn't a decent admin, I'd track you down in my server logs and ban you. But that would be admin abuse, and we don't abuse our admin rights on our server. -

The more you know! (Tips and advice for urban base construction)
DahBunny posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Construction When selecting an urban base structure, for example reinforcing a structure Be sure to only barracade main entrances, as you may cause the barbwire to glitch partially throught the wall, trapping you inside, or Trapping sever-hoppers inside. Fire houses make great structures to hold up in, however due to the military grade loot you will find yourself at constant stand off with other survivors on your server, good if you want a challange or if its a temporary HQ, However never go as far as to place a tent unless you want the contents stolen over night if ungaurded. After selecting your structure for your urban survival situation of choice, be it firehouse, large red, or large orange building, often what you will find is zeds may walk right throught your defense, fear not as this is only a minor bug that is easily fixed by the player, when placing the barbwire, be sure to double stack it, by placing two ontop of each other it makes the object thick enough that zed's notice its existance and rather then walk throught, try to go around and find an alternate route. Large clans, or known groups Living in the citys, be it inland or near the coast, you will find often, that large clans or groups of survivors will march throught in hopes of easy kills or medical supplies, evasion is not always the best option as is presumed, if you daring enough, call out to them, and point out that your there, and if they get too close, you will open fire, or perhaps befriend them. The plus with barbwire is deconstruction, you will hear them removing it if they try and sneak up on you from one of your barracaded entrances, double or even triple stacking to avoid Zeds is also great in the way that it causes playes to reveal there locations when removing it. easy self defense and any half decent clan will know to avoid being out in door ways to remove such. Inner-city Fishing Inner-city fishing is the act of making your base in a building with windows over looking a road, by blocking off this road with barbwire and tank traps you force vehicles to reverse out or circle around, or crash, Often giving you time to remove the driver and/or crew, This tactic requires extreme patience and tact, it will get you killed often and plenty untill you learn to deal with groups, main roads and firehouses once again have the advantages here, electro and cherno are the best fishing holes and will often sink you a vehicle if you know theres a group online. The Great Clean up On servers that reboot rarely, it is often helpfull to clean up loot piles, throwing all tin cans out of the building and anything usefull be horded on a non-loot peice of flooring in you base, cleaning multiple buildings will cause a path you can walk to allow stuff behind you to spawn, and if you clean on your way, next time you do the walk after cleaning, the other building will have new loot aswell, as said before, all guns found should be moved to your main base location, while they will disappear on reboot or lack of player activity in the area, the varity of weapons and ammo will be to your advantage in diffirent situations Footnote My spelling and grammar may be terrible, and i thank you for taking your time to wade throught my post. -
I rented a DayZ server from Vilayer 1 week ago and i have set 3 daily restarts, but every time the server auto-restarts everything goes wrong. -Tents and vehicles disappear, every one of them on the entire map. -Day time changes from night to day even though it was set to utc+0 and at 2 pm was night time. I tried changing the time to utc-3 to see if something changes. I will send a ticket to vilayer but first i want to ask you guys if you ever had this problem and if you know a way to fix it since the only way i know is to manually restart the server again and this is not nice for the players :(

US 948, you banned me and accuse me a hacker!
jimothycakes replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I was banned from that server as well. I didn't do anything wrong. I was running around looking for vehicles and stopped to look at my map options and was suddenly banned. I think the guy's name who banned me was USER 1. -
I know there's a bug that when some vehicles crashes - after the next server restart it stays there new and repaired. Is it possible it has crashed somewhere faaaar out of the map (I was high and there was lots of fuel) and after the restart it just stays there completely new? If so it means its impossible to find it and the trick that after 24h all vehicles out of the map just respawn again seems not working.
-
What do you mean "How are we supposed to deal with vehicles?" ? Are we playing the same game? I wouldn't be surprised if you showed me a video of some guy destroying a bus by throwing smoke grenades or road flares at it.

Admin abuse US 137 Tacticalgamer.com clan server
Reinhold (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well said. As a recent new member to TG, and an avid gamer since the days of Doom/Quake, I have never found a community as dedicated and committed to fair and honest play in any game TG is involved with. I have played as a guest on their servers since 2005 and have always been impressed by the cooperation and communication within this community. As for TG in DayZ, this was the game that finally convinced me to join the team. As stated above, I have been killed by bugs, hackers, exploiters, straight up players, and even the AI zombies. I have lost vehicles, high value gear, and my pride more time than I can remember. It's not the stuff in the game that makes me log in day after day, it’s the brilliant implementation of the mod as well as the TG community that brings me back for more alpha abuse. Anyone looking for a good team or a good fight will find it on the TG server. -
Looking for the fix ... (invisible grass/trees)
Levias posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Currently it seems some people at my server are able to disable grass/trees to directly spot tents and vehicles. I have read about this some days ago at this forums but I dunno where.. search didn't help at all. As a server admin I had to include some file check as I remember. Can anyone help me? -
I have to admit to the moderators of Dayz, this game is fantastic with what it can hold with limitless possiblites although flawed to a extent (meaning they can always make it better! its good but can always add more content as it progresses) as it shows what the game can truly do and the outcomes you survive day by day within this zombiefied game. The challenge is there, and you really have to use your wits and trust with pretty much every decision you can come up with. With that being said, the game has many fun and interesting aspects that may be a mod, but it's something more. It's a fun filled adventure where you start off on a island with barley and resources to your person and your goal is to find food, water or soda, and take the environment before you and survive this curel world. Take arm with other players and defend your rights to live as you fight the hord! Zombies just about everywhere and without a silencer, your very much screwed. One gun shot realistically shows how many zombies know what your doing without a silencer, and with bandits ready to kill you on site, it just shows how F%@$ up humans really are! Arnt you just beautiful? Anyways, With all this said, this game dosnt sound bad, does it? Heck no, its probably one of the most fun type games I'll ever play. Did I mention when you die you start off from fresh and new and lose everything 8 D so intense! Of course then there's ya know... So playing the game for almost a week now, I got use to using a internet map trying to figure out locations. I spent time learning the inn and outs, where I spawn when I die. Thanks to the endless waves of multi purpose rotting brain num nuts that stroll all over the map wanting a piece of you. And so with 4 days in I get with a group of people, get some pretty cool gear, learn to loot better, get lots of rare and hard to come by amo for a gun that's silenced. And Im like, wow, Im doing fairly well in this game, I work well with people and Im having a ton of fun! Yay Dayz. I even get a map and learn to use it! Of course there were times when bandits did try to kill me and my friends, no real complaint about that, like I said, wonderfully F%^$! stupid humans (Youd think that banning together would be more common other then see and shoot on spot, zombies are more important in terms of killing and avoiding them and living if you ask me. Can't forget about living) But this is a game so I wont tangent on that subject for much longer. Getting to the point, the way I died was very cruel. No I wasn't sniped for being an idiot and standing up running past Cherno or Starly while some guy up high on a hill or a complex structure blasted my brains out. No I didn't die from someone getting every zombies attention while doing a military base run. And I didn't die because I tried to do a epic jump and broke all my bones in my body. I died by what is called a "ghost" I was rippled with a endless stream of bullets out of no where, with no one near me, non of my friends saw this person. People were being teleported and pretty much everyone of the server died instantly. All the vehicles were blown to pieces, and the server was crashed. By nothing more then our wonderful universal all stars of unknown reeking havick on countless worlds and countless machinery at there disposle to get access through technology and abusing it. Hackers. I died because some hacker jumped into the sever and basically started to blow people up, without warning, without notice of any kind, without mercy. I was on a hill going towards Electro, but was planning to get more people before we looted, as we just came back from Starly. Yes, there are risks when entering a area that is prown to countless bandits ready to eat you worse then the zombies with there bullets bracketing your face off with there keen eyesight waiting to take your blood with there trigger, but that makes it more challenging. What has gotten me to be fed up is, why should I play this game. Why should I waste my time and patient and my own spent time to play this game. Did I mention that this is my time to play the game? I'm pretty sure many will agree. Sure Id be super pissed if a bandit killed me because I wasn't being earful to where they were, but what I cannot stand is a hacker that does all of this in one or two command promps using a program to lay waste to EVERYONE in the server. With that said, Im taking a halt on Dayz, a wonderful experience that staggered in the end. Even if the mod is free and is available for everyone, let me rephrase if I haven't already. Dayz is a very FUN and EXCITING GAME! but I cannot play a game where your death means you lose everything, and I die from a hacker. I can report the hacker right now? but honestly, what's the point, there will be more, and more and every time I play this game, there's a hacker on the server. The only means I have to redeem myself is buying this hack mod and F^%@! waste every hacker I see using there own weapon. But, I have other things in mind other then to waste my time fighting a endless battle of incompetent two year old minds, then play the game to god mod, and killing a Guardian isnt smart btw sweet heart, if you killed me in game play terms, that would be cool, and I would probably learn from my mistakes, and well, get better! But I cant get better with hacks. Nope, I simply can't. Im more complex then you will ever understand, and yes, that was directed towards you because your probally readint this <3 So thank you Dayz team for making this wonderful moded game off of Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation ArrowHead.(And the older version too, even though I never played them) You have truly inspired a well imerce experience by using a simple game and turning it into one of the coolest zombie games to date. My suggestion would be to get rid of whatever piece of garbage hacker prevention program your using and get something that will put whatever these hackers desgined back in there pants. Because I will certainly not play a game for 12 hours, get a bike, a decent gun, health and food supplys, a map, knife, fire starter, toolbox, blood packs, te(list goes on) and then die because I was blown up or teleported to my death. Not worth it. will I ever come back? only time will tell. ~Chrys.

(U)nified (S)urvivors of the (W)astes
JESUSARIUS REX (DayZ) replied to ybm's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It actually wouldn't have to be a city per say. You could use barb wire, sandbags, tank traps, tents, and vehicles. A city would be cool, but with the constant spawning of zombies 30 feet away, it would be impossible. -
Standalone, Arma Engine and if you would play DayZ if they separated.
Never replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its not that simple a question to be answered with just 'Yes' or 'No'. All depends on what engine, what its capable of, etc. also if Dayz standalone has any depth. If it went standalone with the same kind of content it had now, assuming that content finally works, I don't think i'd bother. Currently its a loot hunting game with a lame loot spawning system, and offers little more than PVP and a 'collect 'em all' endgame where guns and vehicles take the place of pokemon. -
Ok so playing in one of the NZ servers i stumbled across a AS-50, NVG, gps, map the works on some poor fellow that got screwed over in a forest, going from electro to cherno, couldnt believe my luck auctually, anyhow. Headed into cherno and decided to camp on one of the buildings, and I noticed someone in a ghillie suit straight away, partilly because the guy was on top of a chimney stack,.. so yeah you can imagine he stood out pretty well. I popped him in the head and a message came up saying "******* was killed by chaosnz (friendly fire)". Kinda never seen that before. Can anyone tell me what it refers to? Anyway, about 10 minutes later i saw someone running towards a building so i watched, up he climbed and he just sat there, I decided to tease him so i threw a few flares in his direction, they mustive landed a few feet from him as he never moved a muscle. We exchanged a few shots, etc, Took him about 10 more minutes to move, funny enough he climbed up a ladder in plain view of me, and so i killed him, shot him in the knee, and the guy bled out. Ok, so im laughing at this point and thinking, that was too easy, not a minute later i heard shots coming from the direction of the firestation so i looked, saw someone shooting zombies so i decided to aim just above his head and shoot, he dropped and crawled into cover, i didnt kill him just decided to watch. Heard a few more shots and turned around looking for them, couldnt see anyone. Crawling back to where i was i heard a vehicle driving around, and to my surprise it was a black SUV. The driver pulled upto the firestation and jumped out. I sat there waiting for the perfect moment to fire but it didnt come. Watching and waiting i saw the SUV pull away and proceed inland towards the main road, where i noticed another suv sitting there. Now this oughta be good i thought, zoomed in, and shot at the vehicles and anyone nearby, wasted about a clip on them and promptly saw the 2 SUV's blow up. Nice little show i thought. All i saw was a ton of zombies running towards the explosions. And i didnt see too many more people in the area after that..

See, that's the problem. That's what I was talking about. It does feel like it's only been a couple months since the infection BUT Rocket made it so 95% of the vehicles in Chernarus are impossible to drive, this doesn't make any sense but he did it for the sake of authenticity, to give us this post-apocalyptic feeling of loneliness, emptiness and helplessness when running in a no man's land for 20 minutes before getting shot in the head and having to do it all over again. So why couldn't he, for the sake of the authenticy, do it again and get rid of military high end gear such as NVG or 50. Cals? Maybe they kinda make sense since it's a military area but they also certainly feel completely out of place in a zombie apocalypse. 25 bikes and 20 drivable cars in a town would also logically make sense. If this was a feature, anybody would be able to defend it because it's completely logical. But then everybody would have a car and the map would feel too small, death wouldn't be so bad because your buddy would be able to pick you up 3 minutes later and you'd get your weapons back from the trunk of the car. Zombies would become even more useless. It would be more of a Mad Max kind of game. It's not because it would logically be there that it SHOULD.

Banned on UK31 - Not quite sure why
Tabbykatze replied to CutiePie's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello all, I'd like to clarify something about this Silver player. He has partaken with a certain now ex-member or even is a bitter rename of said ex-member of our group to finding camps and vehicles. We have no proof he has hacked, he has been killed without his balls even shifting towards our direction. However, the circumstances of what has been circulating around our servers recently when he is online have always been one of great chin and beard stroking. The post he is quoting is completely invalid and he will not be backed up by any of our group as he was seen exploiting tent glitches and was not removed from the group, but when the TS of the community changed it's logistics, he thought he was banned and went QQ imma rage in ma baby bed. As a player partaking in the BSM and RR community and privy to the events that went on, silver/blindingsun (original or 'friends') player name was never one to be trusted.
