Me and my friend was hunted by a hacker sapwning zombies in Cherno just a few minutes ago. I also suspect he was the one that all of a sudden blew me to pieces. Anyway, we've been enjoying our stay so far and have set up camp with some stolen vehicles we found, but these hackers are ruining the fun. Keep up teh good work.

I don't think that was a problem: we have a new server and it spawns vehicles.

Configure Server Time + Vehicles
[email protected] replied to iAcorn's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Our other two servers had vehicles right after the first start. The new one hasn't. So what? -
I have to disagree about the realism argument. Vehicles left unattended may need work - find new engine parts etc - but they would be mostly operational. I mean how long is it supposed to have been since the zeds moved in? If we are talking anything under twenty years there would be plenty of working vehicles around which must be the case as there are piles of bodies, non-expired food etc.

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
will this also fix the problem with no vehicles on new servers?? -
I can't see a valid reason to increase the number of vehicles. Maybe a bit but not too much, otherwise the sense of desperation would decrease. Whenever I see a car or a truck, I should feel surprised, relieved and lucky because of the survival nature of the game. If the number of vehicles increase, these feelings won't be anymore (and in a game like this would be a big loss). Also, the game would be plenty of players who use vehicles to run over zombies (like Carmageddon) and this is not good. And again, in movies and videogames about post-apocalyptic worlds there are not so much vehicles (mostly are damaged), especially when we are in a 225 km2 open world state only. DayZ is about a challenging and thrilling game where basicly you have to survive. I dont' want to play GTA mixed with Black Ops.

When are you really gonna to stop OFF-MAP vehicle hoarders!!
Redshift replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's simple really. Off map is not meant to be valid play area. This is evidenced by the fact that nothing is out there, not even grass. Anyone applying even a small amount of critical thinking skills will realize that this is a video game and as such has a limited amount of playable area due to various processing restrictions, so there by necessity must be a defined "edge" to the play area. Most game handle this by adding invisible walls past which you can not move, and this works in most cases. The reason we do not have these invisible walls is because of the ARMA2 base game. In that you have jets and such flying vehicles that travel very fast, and sometimes have a very wide turning radius. So the developers decided to leave the edge of the map open to allow these jets ample room to bank and turn without hitting an invisible wall and blowing up. Which makes sense for that game because there is no reason for anyone else to travel off of the map (since ARMA2 is objective based and there are no objectives "off map"). DayZ does not have jets, but it is still based on ARMA2 so the non-invisible wall off map area is still there. Because of the lack of jets in DayZ there is no legitimate reason to go off map. Defending the idea of hiding vehicles and tents off map is the essence of a carebear attitude. You have your things and you dont want to lose them, so you take them outside of the normal playing area in an attempt to hide them. You are attempting to avoid the harshness of the game, and avoid other players and the consequences of this. I have multiple tents (some work, others dont) and have had a number of vehicles that I found, repaired, and used. All of them eventually have gotten raided and stolen because I intentionally keep them on the map where you are supposed to. And it doesnt bother me because that is part of the game, just like being killed is. It happens, shrug it off and move on. But man up and play the game like it is meant to be played. -
Can I stop my server at night when none of my moderators are playing?
YoChris replied to commandercaleb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
you sure thats your only reason? or is it at night you dont have guys online who can look over your vehicles etc. Also even if there was a hacker during the day, there is nothing you can do about it. also cheaters are on the daytime servers. not really on night servers -
Hello there, don't forget there's a plethora of unused vehicles from Arma and the DLC's that are unused in dayz and many which would fulfill this role (probable not as economical fuel wise though). It's more likely to see one of them in game at the moment rather than an entirely new vehicle. Check em out in the editor. Regardless, a nice idea for a new form of transport. rgds LoK

This game is such a rollercoaster lol! Was having a pretty crappy night as far as luck goes... was on a fresh spawn and made my way to elektro to roll the dice one last time before calling it a night. Didn't run into any players, but I wasn't finding crap for loot and was getting pretty frustrated. When I joined the server I was on (can't remember which) it was pretty lightly populated, but by the time I got to elektro it must have filled up. I was at the fire station looking for a decent weapon when I started to hear gun fire, explosions, and vehicles coming from the direction of the grocery store. An unarmed survivor comes my way a short time later, and he's got the blue & white face paint from braveheart?! uhhh, that's weird (hacker?)... He's talking to me over coms saying "friendly" and all that... I'm thinking "yeah sure, until you're armed..." I plugged him with my revolver a couple times so he'd leave. Next thing I know I see a frickn rabbit running around near me, and I didn't see it directly do this, but suddenly there's a M4 CCO SD w/ 6 mags of SD ammo on the ground in a non-typical loot spawn spot (hacker spawned?)... uhhh.... ok! Nabbed that thing as fast as I could, and ran for the hills outside of town! I almost got into a fight on the way out, but the player was being shot at by someone else so I continued my dash out of town. Started hearing sniper fire from what sounded like the steep hills near the power station, at first I was worried I was being shot at, then I considered going after the guy, but thought better to risk my prize so soon after finding it, decided my luck wasn't gonna get any better and went to bed! Anyone else notice things getting whacky the later it gets? I found a dead body with every desirable piece of gear in the game next to a blown up truck late one night last week, including an AS50 TWS... which isn't supposed to be in the game any more from what I've read... guess it was most likely a hacker or something... tho if they can spawn all that stuff, how did he die? I've run into players who wouldnt die after I shot them in the head 10 times at close range... meh... who knows lol!

How about instead of removing guns...put in the ability to have ammo boxes so you can store larger quantities of ammo in tents. Maybe have ammo cans that take up 2-4 storage slots in vehicles/tents due to the weight and then you can keep your magazines after you shoot them so you will be able to reload the mags or have the option of using the empty mags to distract the zombies. HOWEVER if you toss the empty mags you can not reload back at your storage location unless you find empty mags in the spawns. Also remove the simply ridiculous option of not being able to shoot regular ammo in silenced/suppressed weapons. That in and of itself is just plain dumb. Suppression does reduce the amount of noise that none sub-sonic ammo makes but it doesn't remove the crack of the ammo breaking the sound barrier which is the bigger issue.

bad luck mate .....keep hunting and you will find more ,that is why making friends in this game is awsome as you can cover ground faster looking for parts and securing vehicles when you need to find spares usually we have at least one person secure the area while we are off hunting for parts ,and ofc its not impossible to do it solo just makes it that much harder my advice would be to go hunting for a fully repaired vehicle if you are solo as they are not that hard to find and usually you will find a nice stash of weapons nearby also :)

So this idea kind of evolved while I was typing the last post... I didn't flesh it out there, because it was the end of the day and I was trying to pound it out before I left work (DON'T JUDGE ME!). But in any case... while I firmly belive that people should have to EDIT: SHOULD NOT HAVE TO (lol) resort to cruising the edge of the map looking for vehicles to have any chance of finding one, I've decided that it's exactly what I want to do. I hearby commission the Vehicle Redistribution Force Chernarus Economic Management Authority to go out and destroy vehicles and tents found on the outskirts of the map. Don't just steal it and move it somewhere else... destroy it so it respawns. Maybe steal ONE, and use it to find others... But it sounds fun for a number of reasons: 1) sticking it to the people that are breaking the game (to an extent, not comparing hoarders to hackers by any means, just think it needs to be limited) 2) reduce item-inflation by stoping the item-duping cycle 3) bring the joy of finding a sweet vehicle to more players 4) last, but certainly not least, the rush of raiding a bunch of camps... eventually you're going to run into the hoarders themselves doing this, and it should make for some fun PVP. If someone catches me destroying their crap, no matter how they acquired it, I would certainly expect them to defend it, and that's fun times right there. There are few parts of this game that are as fun as the rush of a close encounter/combat, so anything that gives me more of that is a good thing.

That's not what i ment... Of course you can have some vehicles as long as you use them! If you're only 3 people and have 10 vehicles i dont really see a point...
-
Part of the game, why leave vehicles out there so other players can search the map faster and more efficiently and then have a better chance of finding your base? Common sense in my book and yes we have a bunch of vehicles at camp.
-
Naaah im not into hacking. Just name what server you are on and we will find out! Yeah i've been... Its really annoying to find vehicles when people stack em up in there base! -.-'

Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
Vipeax posted a topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hey everyone, many of the changes in 1.7.2.4 include changes in the way the game communicates with the Hive. These changes require every server to be running the latest version of both the mod & the Hive component, run with BattlEye enabled, as well as a recent beta build (>= 95389). To make sure every server is in sync with the recent developments, we are required to disable older versions of the Hive extension from being functional in the near future, which, at this point, is estimated to occure in about 36 hours from the creation of this thread (subject to change). Tomorrow morning there will be a final wording regarding this subject. The re-introduction of Helicopters is directly affiliated to this change and thus they will not be functional till previous versions of both DayZ as well as the Hive component have deflated, as the changes of the recent patch are mandatory to make them functional. Further testing also showed a small bug in the Hive component, for which we will be releasing a second update for on the server side (0.7.2), which has been made available in the regular distrubtion areas for hosters. Changelog: * [FIXED] Vehicles with ID's above 1 million didn't synchronize. * [FIXED] First object in the database not being loaded. Again I'd like to remind all hosters that running a build that is >= 95389 is required, BattlEye has to be enabled for your server to be fully functional and it is very import that you update your Hive component to the latest version within the next 36 hours.- 663 replies

I really do like DayZ and undoubtedly it has taken a great toll of my playing time. But there's two things which are nearly ruining the motivation to play it and which I think should be addressed at top priority. I know these points I'm about to say has been mentioned here before in multiple different threads. But I really want to put extra weight on these two, because they are maybe _THE_ most important changes to make. 1) Teleport wars Describtion: Aka. Disconnecting at the server A, connecting to the server B, relocating your position at the server B and then connecting to the server A again. OR just simply disconnecting to avoid consequences, like getting eaten by Zeds, shot... etc. I've faced this countless times in my PvP encounters and I confess I have done this also myself by the purpose. Haters blaming the player for doing wrong, but I can tell you it's naive to whine for others to do so when it's generally a feature of the game. You can disconnect and you can connect to the other server and both of those "features" are completely legit and they doesn't require any knowledge of exploitism. Like pressing specific keys in certain order etc. Like here is an example: You know the Berezino military camp and those 3 multistore buildings at south of it. Sniper watching the military camp from one of the buildings windows. Then you spot him from a very long distance with your binocs/rangefinder and you don't have the firepower to shoot him from that far and you can't cross the opening unless you flank it(if you know the Berezino it's a long run). So what this bright guy will do is he will disconnect and find an empty server where he is able to cross the opening and relocate himself behind the sniper to the other room at the very same building. Next thing is he will connect to the server and move silently(tapping forward doesn't make any sound) behind the sniper and the threat is about to get removed. I have seen this scenario myself with my own eyes. It's unrelevant whether I was on the delivering or receiving side. The point is it's completely possible and top of all, easy. At this point somebody might say that servers are outlawing such manuevers, but honestly first of all on most of the servers you are anonymous player killing anonymous players and secondly even if you somehow would get banned whatsoever there's thousand of other servers where to play and the damage is done anyway. Those rules simply doesn't work. Not a single admin has time to check thousands and thousands whines about people disconnecting "wrong". There must be a fix in the system itself to prevent this. So there is basically two entities to fix easily. Preventing server hopping and preventing the insta disconnect. Both of those shouldn't be too hard to implement I'd guess? Lets start with server hopping. That should be easy. Though you must remember one thing that sometimes people just want to search for a server they like and I don't think it's necessary to punish them for such. Like if you want to play in a server which has a day time and those timezones on the title are most of the time wrong. So the only thing which basically needs to get penalized is the server hopping from A to B and back to A. Like 15 minutes connect timer would certainly prevent this teleport war completely. For playing later on the same server the extra connect timer could decay like in 1 hour. Then the prevention for the insta disconnect. This should be even easier. Either just make an adequate disconnect timer(5 seconds is certainly not!). OR make two kind of flags for the disconnect. First one would be a basic disconnect, it could be this 5 seconds suggested by DayZ. Second one would be the one which would get triggered if you would either shoot/hear shots or aggro zeds and it would mean a longer disconnect timer. Lets say like 1 minute and it would reset if you would cancel the disconnect. This extra DC toll could get decayed like the server hopping timer. Perhaps after 10 minutes. These times are just examples. Then there's a last remaining ingredient to fix this problem "once for all". Like in my mentioned example there's still a very big problem when you are able to "teleport" behind the enemy. Even if the system would be able to prevent the people in the same server to do so, it's still unable to prevent the people who are not yet connected to the server and perhaps have the knowledge of the enemy in the specific house. Like the one guy who is in the same voip and who is about to join to the same server. SO there's only one reasonable prevention for this and it's to prevent completely spawning/disconnecting on the loot areas or at their close proximity. Yeah you could still spawn to bush X which could be behind the sniper Y, but it's still a far much better. If you have a better idea be my guest. So basically you have to be at the specific distance to disconnect and even if you would somehow getting DC'ed at "no no" spawn area the server should record your last position where you were at the disconnect area and you would spawn from there when you spawn next time. Then to the second problem which is not just ruining PvP, but the whole game's economy. 2) Duping items and save function Describtion: Tents and vehicles duping items after the server restart when they are not saved. New tents doesn't work and old ones duping items, sounds familiar? This is a VERY big problem. Like our crew currently have more than abundant supplies of everything you could possibly need, like dozens of NVGs, GPS and all other top tier stuff. Honestly I would more than happily give all them away if this system would get changed. All this rapid increase of your economy takes is to write enemy tents locations up. Like XXX-XXX Enemy tent (Server A), B and C and then just loot them at daily basis. OR if you are a bigger crook you can just plant items you want to duplicate in these tents -> save -> loot the duplicates after the restart. This is so blatantly wrong. I dunno if the fix could be easy as making the "save the..." function automatic everytime you shuffle the contents? Because everytime you save them they seem to stay, but if you don't save the contents will stay as the same as before the restart. But either way this problem must get addressed quickly... please. My zed cents.. dig, hate, discuss!

Greetings ladies and gentlemen. I would like to offer my services to a trustworthy clan. I am a bit of a lone wolf, I like to work alone which is why I have not officially joined any clan as of yet. I would like to find a clan with an established base of operations, I would like to put my skills (and my life on the line) to work gathering food/ammo/medicine/ect. I'm not much of a soldier, but I am great at sneaking around. I'll get you whatever you need, I'll even sneak around and repair vehicles if I have to. I am looking for a friendly clan, no dickheads please. I would also like an active clan with a larger playerbase. I don't mind working with groups, especially in a bigger city like Cherno it does not hurt to have someone watching your back. A bit about myself: Age - 26 Personality - I'm nice to friends, after all I like keeping my friends. I am cautious, and I play the game like someone is aiming with me at all times. I don't need anyone to hold my hand. I'm a kid at heart, and I have a good sense of humor. If you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Play Times - I am in the est timezone, I will often play in the morning and afternoon. I have Tuesdays and Thursdays off work so depending on my schedule I play evenings, I log off when it gets dark because I'm far too blind irl to play at night. On Bandits - I am not a bandit, but I will kill someone if I have no other choice. You can be dead in less than 5 seconds in this game, so I treat any unknown players as a threat quite often. I will not randomly kill someone for shits and giggles though. I am not interested in working for bandits. P.S - I have a microphone but not a headset. So you might hear a few other voices around me :D

When a server first starts is there a timer on vehicle spawns? I heard choppers take up to a week to spawn, but is it like that with all vehicles?

What does script restriction #55 mean actually?
pvtjelo posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So a few days ago, I fixed a helicopter, and when I tried to fly it, it bumped around so it exploded, but right when it exploded it kicked me from the server for "Battleye script restriction #55". Today, I try to drive a tractor, and suddenly me and my buddy got shot, so I got out and me and my friend hidded behind the tractor, the guy was shooting on the tractor, and suddenly I got kicked (My friend didn't) for the same script restriction and when i tried to log back in my friend told me that the tractor disapeared. Anybody else have this when they get near or drive vehicles ? I'm going to email Battleye about this, I'll let you guys know if I get a answer.
