I think the hack that aggravates me the most is the locater hack. Why is this? Like most groups you try and accumulate supplies and get a vehicle, generally due to the size of the map. We have found that whenever we find a vehicle it is gone within a short time of logging off. I know you could attribute it going missing to a degree of bad luck, but this has happened for every vehicle we have got. I don't think we've managed to hold onto one for more than 6 hours. Given that you store your spare equipment and meds in them it's bloody annoying. A prime example would be yesterday morning. We took a pick-up truck to the top of the map and hid it in the woods and logged out. One of the lads who works near his house went home at lunchtime, logged in and the truck was gone along with the tent equipment we'd stored 4 squares away. So aside from sheer bad luck, we know for a fact there is a hack which shows you vehicles and tents on the map - if they could fix or detect people using that, it would be a boon. Thanks for listening, you may now abuse me.

You do relize that some people might have the vehicles already saved up north?

Anyone having an issue with no vehicles spawning on a new server? I was hoping the update would fix. Anyone else having this issue? Thank you -
shot server admin in the face he got mad and killed everyone
F4ll3N replied to pvthoch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
server admins dont have this power, any admin that teleports, spawns vehicles, script kills or thunderdomes are actually hackers, most of which say they are admins to give them more time to hack. Find the server info and confirm that he is an admin in the server or via a ping admin screenshot before making these claims please, it defames the server w/o cause. We can Kick, Ban and review logs thats it and of course shut down/restart the serv. love your little game you play though that is some wicked fun stuff and if it happened to me on my server i would say ty for the lulz (the trivia part not the hack). -

I lost all my vehicles and tents but I never really suspected hackers. Figured since they spawn weapons and vehicles by themselves there wouldn't be much purpose. -
US 1857 Admin bans for guns we had
F4ll3N replied to wurocket's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
dont pick up weapons you know arent in the game. If you do youll get kicked or banned. Do you honestly think it is conducive to a legitimate environment of gameplay to allow ANYONE to have hacked in items regardless of how they got them? People that pick up or have hacked weapons are 2 kinds of people - hackers or people prone to exploiting to have an edge ingame. Both parties are undesirables in legitimate servers. Want to have a ban free game? research whats ingame and whats not and never exploit, dupe or pick up hacked items/vehicles. I highly doubt rocket will come along and say "Oh yeah and hacked items are totally going to be allowed in the standalone, dont worry I wont let those bad admins ban you" more like fook those devious suckers ban away. -
getting the hang of this game enough to not be a noob anymore. looking for one or maybe two other people to run with. i am not into rampaging other players or zombie annihilation, but i am curious about what it would be like to try to set up like a permanent camp and try to live for as long as possible, maybe assemble some vehicles, etc. etc. well if you're interested i play pretty much at any time. skype: pettigree09 steam: pettigree

Back into the game after work - they've had 11 hours and they've found both our vehicles (motorbike and truck) across a 225km map... OFC a helicopter might make it easier. -
Loot Damage! Making you think more before PlayerKilling
mattldempsey replied to mattldempsey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Its just a base idea to work from, I didnt put much thought into the details. But as I say NVG would get blown apart in a headshot from a sniper. When you think about it, item hoarding (not vehicles, just items) is actually not a bad thing. It is just an alternative end game to sniping. Item hoarding could encourage creative base building, not to mention game development, whereby the scenario develops and power and wealth (through items) becomes more important. But yea, item hoarding doesnt negatively effect other players, unlike mindless murderers. -
I do have one ghillie suite id be willing to trade, unfortunately i do not have any vehicles for sale, i only possess an atv that i use

So here I am logging in with a friend after a few days of not playing. I spawn on one side of the map where I left off while my friend played a few times since I've logged so he's somewhere on the other side. Since he had a GPS and I didn't he told me he'll just meet me where I am but he told me to go look around to see if there's any tents or whatever. So I begin running around the woods when I see something out of the oridnary from the distance. I zoom in to see a truck. Thinking to myself what are the chances of a truck being here, I go crouch run up the hill to actually see it's a truck(V3S.) I tell my friend "OMG there's a V3S here get here fast, I'll check what's in it" so I check it out and it had every shotgun an AKS-74 Kobra, ammo, fuel, food, scrap metal, etc. Although the guns weren't that great, I was excited at this point, and to make it even more exciting, I look to my left and I see a UAZ! I go to my friend again saying "Holy S*** there's a UAZ here too, I'm gonna check to see what's in here." I rummage through the UAZ and I find alot of medical supplies, a ton of AK ammo, survival tools(hatchet, knife, etc.) At this point I was so excited but nervous because what I was thikning what if the people that left these here came back and spotted me, so I hid in a tall tree until my friend came to my location, 15-20 minutes later. When he finally got there we checked the conditions of the truck and UAZ(I didn't do it prior obviously) and the V3S had some engine damage, but runnable, but the UAZ was mint condition! What luck! So we end up stealing both cars and we were driving to a waypoint where we could hide these trucks, when my friend pointed out there was a tent next ot a tree. We got out and looted it. More med supplies, food, water, and ammo. Finally after looting that tent we kept driving these vehicles when my friend spooted two more tents in an open patch of land! I was thinking to myself "We hit the motherload." We park our vehicles and go to check out the tents. What we found was amazing. Two Ghillie suits, a GPS, 2 M4A1 CCO SD, 20 rounds for the M4A1's, more med supplies, enough food to last us days, same with water. We ranshacked all those tents.

We've all heard stories about the Dew, and how it is bad luck, and you should never ever pick them up, right? Well, my friends and I found one and decided: Fuck that! Since I found it, I decided it shall be my drink next time we go to raid a camp. We got in two of our pickups and rode out, two of us going to a camp we found earlier, two of us going to the NW Airfield. I went to the camp. We regrouped just outside Zelenogorsk, and decided to try to find one more camp before we go back. No dice. I drank the Dew. We head back to camp. Now, before I go any further, I have to explain the scale of our camp. 6 tents, all have one or two really good items in them (because I didn't want to have the tents desync from massive amounts of items), and 5 vehicles: One GAZ, two Pickups, a tractor, and a V3S. Our V3S is literally at it's limit on loot. AS50's, MK 48, L85 Ect. Ect. Anyway, when we get back to camp, we notice our V3S is gone. I thought that we should move camp, but no one (myself included) wanted to play anymore, and we decided that we'd get on later. We all logged off, a bit spread out. My three friends decided to get on before me. I was playing Gmod with my friend, and they all got on. I started getting steam messages by the boatload. They were things like: THEY'RE RAIDING! GET ONLINE! I closed Gmod, much to my friend's dismay, and got on DayZ. I was at the camp, and there were a LOT of dead people. Like 10+. My friends had dropped many. I looked around, and saw a dust cloud in the distance, and noticed one of our trucks were missing. I hopped in the other and drove after them. Shortly after I saw them, I heard shots. Had to be SVD Camos. They blew the truck, and killed me. We discovered that they took all the other vehicles, too, and ran down the camp. Ditch the Dew!

It's Raining, It's Pouring! - You better watch out!

Aha same thing happened to us. These hackers copy youtube videos and streams -_-. So this kid joined our server, destroyed our vehicles, gave us rides and then killed us.So my whole clan decided to cuss this kid out. (no admins on at the time) He was only like 15, and, well since we couldnt just cuss him out (he would have come back) we got his address, his telephone number, his facebook, his ip address, his skype and his youtube. Well after that he got scared spawned us in the Thunder Dome, and said "there guys take whatever you wanted." But we procceded to still cuss him out, for you kno playing like a bitch. and well he left the server and hasnt been back since. BTW he never changed his name, (tracking him using dayz commander) and he hasnt been to our server since. -
Got hit by the respawn bug where you 'die' then it respawns you at the beach. Wasn't looking forward to an hour march back north. Within 5 minutes I found a GAZ sitting (badly) hidden in a tree line north of Cherno. No shots rang out as I drove 15kph through the field to a road. Made it to camp in half the time (ran out of fuel too far from a gas station and had to run there with an empty Jerry) I have to agree for the most part that vehicles are only worth it in a large group that can defend it. Otherwise the noise and banditry makes them not worth it. I learned quickly never to park near my tents as choppers or hackers can find your vehicles practically instantly. Bicycle is the way to go. Silent, fast, easy to repair, no fuel. I love the Ural though. That has Boss written all over it. I love the chopper too but never kept one for more than a couple hours.

Restructured Loot Tables (Pretty long post)
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to KnT47r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While I agree the loottables should be re-evaluated based upon experiences and data, there is one thing that is missing from this whole post... ADD MORE ITEMS TO SPAWN!!! Adding more items will automatically put 'pressure' on loot-drop-chances, only a couple of items can spawn each time and the chances of the items that can drop that time are always 100% when combined together. So shifting % around only makes one items spawn more often than another. But add more items to the loot tables and other items just spawn less, because this new item needs a % of chance to drop too! ... also, once more buildings are enterable there are going to be a lot more places where loot can spawn, and thus there need to be more items! Possible items: - Clothing of all sorts, tons of it - More different food items, based upon calories instead of just 'filled' - More different beverages, based upon 'hydratation' instead of just 'filled', esp. sugary or alcoholic beverages would also provide calories. - More different types of melee weapons - More 'trash items', partial maps, notes, postcards, shopping lists, w/e - Now that upgrades and guns can spawn seperately, do so - More different types of bags, also broken ones (http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30663-cut-down-inventory-space/ ) - More types of tools - More types of base building items - (rechargeable) bateries, batery boxes for vehicles, generators, light bulbs, electrical cord, soldering iron, solder, fuses, resistors etc... electrical items using bateries... - etc. and so on... After all these things get added, THEN the loot tables can have a good evaluation, and it's fairly likely several items will spawn way less just because there are now more items that can spawn in it's place... -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
Capco replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really didn't think hacking was that big of an issue until it happened to me. Two separate, highly suspicious loss-of-chopper incidences in three days was enough to bring me to this thread. The first one occurred after my clan had gathered two vehicles. We were near a dear stand raiding it (with our cars stupidly parked in the open field; lesson learned) when we heard a chopper approaching nearby. Sure enough they saw the vehicles and began lighting up the forest with their M240's. We all took cover in bushes, and held firm. Eventually they landed (probably thought we disconnected) and we lit them up pretty damn good with 2 M4's and an M24. We saw from the kill list that it was members of some other clan. We then stole that chopper and flew extremely far northwest sometime after the engagement (just off the DayZdb map). A couple minutes after landing, our (undamaged) chopper exploded out of nowhere. Maybe 30 seconds after this, we heard the sounds of another chopper (and this was after the patch where there is now only 1 chopper per server), who subsequently mowed us down as we had very little cover where we had landed. Not only that, someone with a silenced MP5 was somehow on the ground (out in the middle of nowhere) and killed the last one of us who was perfectly hidden in a ghillie suit. The second time, we had actually found a server with an unfixed chopper on the SE island. We spent the whole damn day searching for parts and jerry cans, taking the damn 14km/h small boat back and forth, until we finally had a fully-functional chopper. The next day, we spent another 6 hours flying around the server scouting for vehicles until we had collected 6 vehicles and a bike to compliment our chopper, along with 2 days worth of loot tucked inside them, all tucked away in a remote camp. Just as we were getting ready to disconnect to take a break, the last three of us came under fire from a guy in a ghillie suit with a silenced M4. However, this wasn't a legitimate bandit attack; he was teleporting around us and killing us point blank. I saw the guy with my own eyes disappear right in front of me after shooting my friend 100 meters away and then simply reappear right next to me in my bush! Our last guy alive actually managed to get to the chopper and get it in the air. As he was taking off, this hacker teleported right in front of him and started to shoot him, but to no avail. The pilot came to me on the coast to pick me up. We were headed back to our camp at quite a high altitude when out of nowhere (with no gunshots being heard or felt), we were instantly ejected from the helicopter; about 10 seconds later, the chopper exploded and we were killed in mid-air... Like someone said earlier about the loot/vehicle loss, if it's a genuine bandit killing you, well that's part of the game and whining about it is like whining about the brutal truths in life like taxes and death: it's unavoidable, so why give it concern? However, when it's someone who kills unfairly just for the sake of doing so... well that is game-breaking when you can lose the accumulation of hours of your life at the push of a hacker's button. After reading about how the mod is basically a script itself built on top of the Arma II hard code, the state of scripting in the game makes a lot of sense (not that it makes it any more excusable). I just hope the standalone has at least an average amount of PC hackers; that I could deal with. Losing the only two choppers I've ever come across to hackers in the past three days out of four weeks of playing is just... sadface :( I can take losing a chopper fair and square (like how we took our first one), but I can't stomach it from scripting..... -
Latest "patches" not really fixing key issues?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to kicktd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ARMA 2 released in June 2009. rocket started employment with Bohemia Interactive 1st August 2012. So, no, I don't "realize that" because it's not true and never has been. Unless you're proposing rocket is capable of time travel in some regard? Vehicles exist in the ARMA 2 engine by default. However, they were never meant to be persistent for weeks or months on end and have a persistent "saved inventory" mechanic. They were designed to exist temporarily and then go away when the mission ends which is usually less than an hour. ARMA 2 doesn't have any concept of a persistent world that must be saved indefinitely - rocket had to cobble that all on top of it with the hive database and the ARMA engine is not designed to work that way. For this reason there are many issues with data integrity and reliability, especially around inventory and storage, that are just not easily fixed in ARMA 2. The feedback has been given, and rocket responded saying exactly what I've told you. What more do you want? Take it or leave it. But do stop spreading ridiculous misinformation about rocket being the "lead developer" on ARMA 2 because that shit is hilariously inaccurate. And please spare me your "I wrote some Perl scripts so I know how development cycles work." When you've participated in a full life cycle from concept to live ops with a full team of engineers and testers in a commercial environment you can bring up your "I'm a developer, too" argument, okay? -
Not sure why but it seems a lot of the key issues aren't being fixed by rocket. Tent issues, vehicle issues, server restarts causing tents/vehicles to disappear until the next server restart (players hop on right after the server reboot and forces the server to load without any saved tents/vehicles), infected behavior needs tweaking yet again, and a whole slew of other things, yet we get patches with "Additional optimizations to login process", I mean yeah he's working on the graphical problems which is good, but there are other things that need to be prioritized over "Additional optimizations to login process". It just seems like recently rocket has been cherry picking easy things to fix instead of actually fixing core game components that are bugged to hell and back. I mean hey this is his mod yeah and yeah I know IT'S ALPHA HURR DURR and all that, but still shouldn't he be trying to iron out the major problems first and THEN work on the smaller optimization of things? I think the dev team really needs to sit down and actually talk and prioritize things, test things BEFORE release, and I mean actually test them and then give us good patches. I'm not trying to sound like I'm telling rocket how to work on his mod, but when it comes to programming and all prioritizing your fixes is a main thing and the more breaking it is, the higher on the list to be fixed it goes, not the other way around where you choose the easy things to fix and just ignore any posts regarding the other major issues. Anyways just my 2 cents from my view as a programmer. Feel free to flame away but like I said I'm just trying to understand why rocket has let some pretty major bugs go by now for at least 3-4 patches.

Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
Flaminglamb replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I start seeing characters from TF2 appear on my server, I want to be able to find a flame thrower and hide out in the fire towers with an Engi and Heavy covering my back. Otherwise, I am not exactly thrilled about having dudes on my server f**ing around with my hard work! I would say that I have experienced 7/10 of these hacks on various servers (inc. my own) in the past week: The following is a DayZ Script Hack Package (V.I.P LostDay) with the following features: 1) Boost Hack (move to the direction of view in set number of meters specified in settings) 2) Give Weapon Set Hack (give a weapon and an item, specified in the settings) 3) Change Skin Hack (change skin to any here) 4) Heal Yourself Hack (recovery meter temperature, hunger, thirst) 5) Repair Car Hack (repair vehicle next to you) 6) Car TP Hack (randomly teleport a vehicle to you) 7) Spawn Object Hack (spawns an object - house, tent, helicopter crashes, the lighthouse, etc) 8) Map Hack (Shows the location of the players, vehicles, tents, crashes, etc) 9) Spawn Vehicle Hack (spawn a vehicle) 10) Invisible Hack (you are completely invisible) YOU NEED A BYPASS TO GET THESE HACKS TO WORK, SOME MAY GET YOU BANNED INSTANTLY (VEHICLE SPAWN/TELEPORT) source: **************************LINK REmoved Fun times! DO not post links to Hacks/Sites,,,,, whatever the reason. 4 posts and you're out already, ffs. -

Yesterday we found on 2 servers 3 AS50 TSW, today we found a G36C SD, yesterday we killed a guy with a soldier clothing, we found RGO Grenades in a guy we killed, we were killed about 10 times from hackers in Elektro (6 to 8 man Squad). We found another G36 last week. 3 days ago a hacker ported every vehicle to one place, a guy ported eveyone to the airfield, a guy nuked the server, another one bombed whole cherno and spawned choppers everywhere, another guy spawned hundreds of vehicles on our server and our base was looted about 6 times from hackers. And so on and so on... Battleye is even saying they are aware of the excessive hacking and they can't do anything. I really start being frustrated. We are a good organized clan and most of us are progamers and we have no chance, although we play absolutely with tactics and everything. No chance. That's ridiculous and if there will be no change in the near near future, dayz will be dying. I've read many posts about hackers, but since we are more at the cost like Elektro, Now I know why. It is really getting annoying. Do something!

Ok, but still I can't see a valid reason to increase the number of vehicles.

The community is unanimously against classes in the stand alone. I get this and I am too for the most part. I think there is a better idea for this though that more people may accept or agree with. My idea is more like you pick a trait when you make your character. Hear me out, because I know this sounds ghey at first......... It's kinda dumb that anyone can just hop in a huey and fly it (though most people just crash I know  ) ARMA Domination required you to pick a pilot before you could fly any aircraft in the game. My idea is a character trait chosen at character creation that dictates your success with certain difficulties in the environment. Nothing to do with starting weapon or what weapons you can use or how well you shoot. At creation: (M/F) Before the apocalypse you were: (Mount and Blade style)...... Some examples: (these are just examples off the top of my head and I put little thought into them) a pilot - You are able to enter and operate aircraft if you ever find one. No one else can do this. a hunter - You can butcher animals with better precision and the carcass yields 1 extra meat. Anyone can butcher animals but the hunter starts with a hunting knife others must find one. a mechanic - You are able to repair most vehicles as long as the parts are made available. No one else can do this. a doctor - You are able to treat wounds, sickness and successfully perform blood transfusions or set broken bones if you have the proper equipment. Anyone can bandage but doctors are needed to perform blood transfusion and set broken bones. a cook - You can make any campfire a banquet. Food cooked by you yields extra blood. a student - You start with a small back pack. No one else does. a thug - You can hot wire other peoples vehicles. No one else can take owned cars because they don't have the keys. Anyone can take an unclaimed vehicle. These are just random examples to make my point. I think giving individuals value would decrease the kos epidemic as well. As it is I kill anyone I don't know because their only value to me is what they are carrying. If individuals had skills of value I might be more inclined to let them tag along. I want to re-state that No trait should ever alter the rules of combat. This should be left to individual skill. I just think its more realistic that individuals have more value than their loot.
