WOW, lets see I've been playing this game for past 2 plus months. Only seen 2 buses, and a tracktor and a busted up ATV. Forget about vehicles bro, get your own server and horde them like everyone else. -

Do you have satchel charges? I don't have much, but satchel charges would be extremely helpful on my server. I have a bandit problem. The admin is part of the group and they stockpile vehicles, and horde weapons for their team only. I recently stumbled upon their camp and took some important stuff. All the stuff I need to survive. EXCEPT for anything to possibly destroy their campsite and vehicles. One satchel charge would do it. I am not a bandit. I do not kill for no reason. But this group needs to be ended. They need to know what its like to have everything and just lose it in a second. Also, I could become a body guard. I am very good with snipers/assault rifles/ and pistols. I don't kill unless I need to. I am not Australian but I do not sleep, so I can work at any time, and expect nothing in return. Thank you for helping out the days community, and supplying us with weapons to take out the bandits that make our dayz experience hell. PM me sometime. Look at game map, you will see a forest at each map limit and beyond this, a "desert" no tree and nothing, in map it's only brow. The limit is these forest, where're trees. If you park and save your vehicles/tents outside these limit, it will be lost for limbo :} -
I'd like to see vehicles spawn in random locations like helicopter crashes one day instead of set locations. The fact that there's a map to find vehicles out there seems like a flaw.

Majority of vehicles are hoarded by crews. It's one of the few end-game things to do. Try different servers and so on. As Fusty said dayzdb has a good map for practically all vehicles with an engine or without. At the end of the day though they should be hard to find. Even harder to fix.

Occasionally servers can bug out and no vehicles will appear, usually fixes itself at restart. Many servers running 1.7.2.5 have an issue with both tents and vehicles not saving, so you should have some luck finding them at the spawn locations, they will return there again when the server restarts though. Otherwise you probably just aren't looking hard enough, I find vehicles all the time by simply following the edge of the map up North.

Honestly, I don't really give a damn what they do to the mod anymore. I am waiting on the standalone. I don't use storage and I probably never will, definately not in the mod. Depending on what all types of features that are in the standalone, well, that's a different ballgame that nobody has a clue about. and to the guy up there who says everybody has an as50 and a L85, I left both at a crash sight just the other day. They don't have any interest to me at all. I don't have a team so having a sniper is pointless to me. My main goal until the standalone is strictly to find and empty camps and destroy vehicles. Edit. And you do realize I am completely against the OP. There needs to be storage. I agree. I just know that atm the way it dupes equipment in dayZ it is the probem. I don't want it removed. I was just making a over-the-top statement. -

Yeah, we average about 25 players during peak hours (4 PM to 10 PM) but outside of that, we have 10-15 players usually. I never really minded it though because our server was pretty much hacker free. I only ever had to ban two guys for hacking. So, there is some beauty in being under the radar. :) A lot of the vehicles are left on my server too. I find them all the time but we never used them. We would grab one for quick transport to and from the airfield but we'd leave it out somewhere to respawn. We never horded them or stored them but would use them if we found them in working order just for quick travel that day. I awlays found them more work than they are worth and you miss a lot of stuff using them. I kinda liked finding other survivors and helicopter crashes. -

I have been playing DayZ for quite some time now and still learn new things. I have a run down for some newer players looking for some top tips/rules that will help you survive in DayZ: Rule #1) In a survival situation consider EVERYONE a threat unless you personally know them. This means shoot first ask questions later - killing someone on sight doesn't make you bad because 9 times out of 10 they will do the same to you. Rule #2) Not to state the obvious but, find a gun above anything else. A gun will save your life, food and water should be secondary to protection. If you can't protect yourself you're dead anyway. Rule #3) Stay out of main cities unless absolutely necessary. You will find more people are there to take what you have - scavenging previously high population areas is risky. Rule #4) Power is always in numbers. Being alone is an eventual death sentence and in most cases results in a rather quick death. Other people are not the only threat. Anything from falling off stairs to trapping yourself in a corner are easy ways to die when alone. So invite some friends to play DayZ. Convince them, beg them and beat them to join you. Rule #5) Always use the trees as cover. I can not stress enough how excellent trees/bushes/forests are for concealing your activity. This goes hand in hand with making campfires. Rule #6) Carry additional and alternative weapons and ammo. Varied weapons allow for back up in case you run out of primary and secondary ammos. Rule #7) Find an ax, a knife and matches. Why? Because making camp fires and hunting live animals is safer than running to town for food plus, meat heals for more than double what beans do and you get much more from wild animals than you would from a canned food spawn. Rule #8)The best areas to find items are actually outside the cities, in tents, placed by other players. With patience and perseverance you can find all sorts of stashed loot and vehicles in the outskirts of the main map bordering the forest and the "debug forest". Rule #9) Crawling can save your life. Silence can often be a savior when dealing with Zeds and even actual players. That being said, don't shoot your gun unless you have to. Rule #10) Whenever you notice a dead body hide, get to a safe vantage point and check your surroundings, snipers and bandits alike will often use fresh kills to bait curious and greedy players.

To start off with, i am 14, but shouldnt be judged by my age... i am very mature and smart! anyways my current time zone is GMT -7 and am looking for a group to team up with, throw them empty whisky bottles at zombies in cherno. i have a second group thats hardly on, so we will have a hefty clan if i can recruit some well experienced players. I plan on raiding cities, find vehicles and crashed heli's, and just have a good time. I agree however my point was why have 50.cal snipers but not have say light armor or even weaponized vehicles(like the off-roader). Ok than call me that, fine by me, but really m107s and AS50s should be as rare if not rarer than the drivable Heli. Now I think High end gear as well as vehicles should have Unique Ids tied to them to help prevent clients spawning them in game without the server telling the client to spawn it. (as well as duplicates of the ID get auto deleted) -
I did check it for loot and nothing. I might just wait to get the group together so we can all die after I am shot while driving or we can kill some people on the coast. If I had the satchel I might have just gone with that plan though, I am aware that most vehicles end up getting destroyed and it would be funny to fraps blowing up some happy person or group who walked up on a helicopter.

People go out to kill people because there's no objective in the game, you can have a dream new spawn, have 10 tents, all the best weapons and accessories and vehicles in the map, what to do next? let's go kill other people with our good gear so they find it hard to get to the level i'm at... and i'll do it so they're mad and it's fun for me... yeah?

Can they locate players? No, they cannot. (edit - smash_AU is correct, they can pull locations from the logs) A server Admin literally has the ability to do 3 things. Do an announcement or use voice over Global chat. Kick a player. Ban a player from their server. That is it. If Admin appear to be able to locate players, move players (teleport) and or have the ability to locate active vehicles...then they are hacking. Also, servers are limited to 1 server each. If there are two on your server one is hacked in. You should go to the Server Reporting forum... --- By the way, are you sure it's a public server and not a private hive server? Most private hive servers have admin who script/hack as a means to...admin their servers.

IDK how to see people online trough, so the medics sadly have to reply to my post if something. That thing about people offering help, it might as well be a bandit in these parts of the forum, I'll think I want to be better safe than sorry about this time, have died bit to many times recently. Anyhow, I will be offline until I can find some help, no rush really but would be sweet to get it over with. I think there is some kind of vehicles near Elektro, few motor driven and couple of bicycles. If you don't mind that will say to take a trip :-) Oh, that is nice, edited my post to quote you too if you guys wounder about first quote. Anyway, I'll try add you at steam, still I use the standalone version of Arma2 but I guess it works ether way. -

yes i do have an account on a trainer website. If you would have bothered to actually dig around you would have found out it deals in SP games...as in single player. Some games get boring after a while and a trainer just speeds up things. Let me get this out, I am not whining. I have been accused/punished for something and now i request to see the evidence used against me. Did you get the string or should i log on again for a second try? should I make one up for you? I might no have your background in IT but if I do decide to cheat on a game and stay undetected i have the financial means to do so... As I said to TimeDeath when he messaged me, show me the logs that I am using either an .esp or the alleged teleporting, although I am sure that won' happen But since we are at the cheats and exploit point let me ask a few things:\ How come you and your clan get the privilege of using/exploiting flaws in the system? Like your members using tents that are glitched and the other admins using the "I restart servers for maintenance" excuse to replenish the items in those tents Use of weapons that are not in game. Ask McLovin and 2 more of your clanmates. Mclovin died with a silenced PDW on him, and the other 2 were not far from tents that contained such items. DC'ing under fire (McLovin, Whisy or something and 2 more....)...hey I am admin clan I can do whatever I guess that's oki since is the admin's clan So far all you did was talk but i am still waiting for the proof behind your words... To answer your questions, Shiz, I know marvel and his clique. I have played on MG l4D2 servers for a long time.Furthermore I was a donor there. And there it was like it is on his DayZ servers. The admins were ignoring/breaking every rule there was there, issuing bans just because someone got mad of his team lost,or issuing different bans for similar offenses (someone would get a day ban and others would get a week-long one for the same thing) favoring a certain class of players as in giving them ingame items, teleporting them away from danger, spawning loot on coop servers....so yeah, me and him have a history... And ShiZ, you are right, i don't trust them. I saw to many admins here abusing their powers on their own servers and forging evidence. with their it's easy to modify some logs. if they are saved as .txt files they can be edited w/o any trace showing (own experience) if they presented as .jpg or any kind of image format, there is always Photoshop or any kind of image editing software. There is always a way to commit forgery regardless of domain. Fake VanGogh paintings have been passed on and sold as originals,copycats of items, vehicles, although a forgery were deemed original. You name it, it can be falsified. The only gaming logs i deem fairly trustworthy are the ones that are out of the aforementioned admin's reach, stored in a database accessible only to game developers/mod developers, in this case Rocket and his team of DayZ. They are impartial to thisAny kind of evidence that came from the owner/admins of US1037 has the potential of being modified. and I am not talking about just the one they claim they have on me. it's every ban they issued/will issue in the future. -
One would think that during a zombie apocolypse, the human race would band together to reduce the zombie population while increasing the human population? this is a zombie apocolypse simulation right? I try and picture how fun it would be if players were to start being kind to one another and helping each other survive, obtaining vehicles, tents, medical supplies & all the equipment needed to build there camp sites, like wire fencing, tank traps, sandbags and bear traps, allocate tents for storing food & drinks, medical supplies, weapons & ammo, vehicle repair parts, going out in squads using vehicles or on foot to eliminate the zombie population, seeking out more survivors to offer a safe haven, while rounding up more supplies. I just dont understand why survivors want to murder other survivors, suviving solo can be easy, but its lonely, strength in numbers and working as a team is so much more fun. I play this simulation as if it were real, my humanity is currently at +11,531 but i wear camo clothing, have over 1,600 zombie kills, only 1 murder, a freind who was bleeding out and being chased by a zombie, my MK 48 MOD 0 has a hair trigger and this time it decided to shoot a burst of 3 rounds instead of 1, wish it had the option for semi auto, burst & full mode... Is this what humanity has come to? in the statistics thread, perhaps knowing the % beetween the amount of good guys and bad guys out there would show what the human race has degraded to if had to endure a zombie apocolypse?

It's simple: Tents, vehicles, whatever you store items in: If you die, the storage unit and all the items go away IMMEDIATELY. (edit: In the case of vehicles, items disappear from storage. The vehicle does not despawn.) New option for tents and vehicles: Save for Group. With this option, the tent or vehicle will now persist through your death. However, upon selecting this option the storage unit now must be maintained periodically in order to persist. Example: Steve puts gear into his tent. He selects the Save for Group option. Now the tent and the items will stay there if Steve dies, free for his buddies to use. However, maintenance must be performed on the tent every (X) hours and with (X) spare parts/scrap metal. The Maintenance option now appears on the contextual menu of the tent. With this mechanic...small teams would be able to save small camps, large teams would be able to save large camps. The ability of a GROUP'S items to persist is directly related to the group's ability to loot areas and find spare parts. Storage units would still be able to be looted by anyone, allowing raiding if the camp is unguarded. Also...I think that the same mechanic should apply to tank traps and barbed wire. This would give LARGE groups some minimal security. Since larger camps are harder to hide, it would be helpful if they could set up barbed wire around their tents. In the same way, a lone wolf could use barbed wire and tank traps to block other survivors from good spawns, but these too would disappear immediately if he died. Am I a genius or what!? This will almost assuredly be the most awesome way to handle this aspect of the game. Don't even try to argue with me. ...Okay do.... -
3 Servers useless now - Thx Dev Team

Yeah, true story. It's sad we try to bring up a big community by setting up servers and then get a foot in our asses, because we are complaining about bugs, which can't be so hard to fix. As I said, we pay about 100 Euro for our servers and we don't even have vehicles on one server since it was started for the first time. The other two servers don't save anything, that's why we downgraded to 1.7.2.4 now and everything is just fine except of the graphical glitches. I just got the answer the vehicles would spawn within 7 days but as you see in this thread http://dayzmod.com/f...er/page__st__20 many people having the same issue and this is absolutely a no go. alpha back and forth. Having no vehicles on a newly rented server is inacceptable and I don't think it should be that hard to manually spawn them, if a dev would take some time for it. Also the fact, that I got an email from gamed!de they had stopped our server, because we lock them after a restart for 5 minutes, to prevent the database won't load correctly is a sassiness. We tried it several times and when players join the server after a restart and we don't lock it to prevent people clicking on "okay" the tents and vehicles won't appear. So that's the reason why we lock them for 5 minutes. After that we got a threat the dayz team might blacklist our server when we do that again. So I ask you, what is that bullshit about? The server owners already have no rights. We can't even see the log files anymore so since that we can't see dupers, we can't see hackers with locator scripts, who ran straight out of nowhere to our camp and destroy everything just for fun. We aren't allowed to ban exploiters or even ghosters which I experienced again today after a guy logged out and spawned behind us. We are allowed to set up the server name and the difficulty. That's all and that's not okay. In every game you are able to abuse the game when you are an admin. But that's life. There are always people who will abuse their rights and there is no way to avoid that. Like I said, I was banned in several games from admins who were frustrated I was better then them. But I don't care. The rules are way to harsh and when the dev team wants the people stick to their rules, they might have to set up their own servers and don't use people like us, who are students or have families to host their servers and ruin the mod with useless patches or don't even give them what they deserve (like vehicles) when they try help the community to grow. You can't expect people stick to rules, when you don't give anything back to them. So, that's why I'm concerned. The dev team deals with server hosters like they were some idiots and assholes and that makes me angry. I can't program a mod and I don't have to, to have an opinion and complain about dayz. Also I don't expect an aplha to run perfect without any bugs, I wouldn't love this mod so much, if I would, but I expect a give and take basis and that's not the case. And yeah, I did not pay for this mod and I would never complain about anything, but the fact is, I pay for a server, of which I expect, it saves tents and has vehicles though. So, that's why I think I'm in the position to complain about those things. The bugs like a quad flipping over a hill, broken legs from a door or tents, dying from a bug and so on are okay. It's an alpha, but some things are a no go, like those graphical glitches, no vehicles on servers and tents and vehicles don't save. Duping is a problem too, but since our clan don't need to dupe and we don't want to ruin our fun with dayz, we don't do things like that. -
So 4 of us are standing around fixing up a few vehicles and someone with an as50 comes running up, we ALL shot him many times. I alone emptied 1 mag into him, he killed all but one of us, he took over 30 rounds combined.... Is there a hack or something for invincibility? lame....
