Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?

it has a use its good for over watch and destroying vehicles and killing enemy snipers in every fps ever someone has to bitch moan and cry over the sniper rifles but its not going to change anything no modern fps dosent have a sniper rifle plus those players probabley wouldent last long sure if they saw you try to shoot them they would alt4 like a badass mother fucker but any other snipers could easyly kill them with one shot and they wouldent see it coming
  2. You can already load wounded players into vehicles, but you can't access inventory whilst in-vehicle, therefore can't patch 'em up. Being able to access inventory so you can provide aid (also eat, drink etc.) in vehicle would be great. Imagine using a Ural as an ambulance!
  3. I'm kind of torn on this. Although it is sound reasoning, from a 'pvp balance' kinda pov, in my opinion, players should have the freedom to choose their playstyle without getting penalized for it. This different playstyle might get interpreted as pve vs pvp - and as such, not in the intentions of the game. But favoring a certain level of population might also be an individual player's way of customizing the game to his or her respective vision of a zombie apocalypse. In the current state of the game, it seems as if there was an unusual high amount of snipers, camping the cities. Those players allegedly choose to do so, because they have nothing else to do, aka boredom. And even if it's not my personal cup of tea (might as well be, because I'm still new, though), I couldn't blame them. This boredom is a known problem ofc and is going to be adressed, partly by giving players the means of creating things (crafting, base building) in standalone. My guess would be, that the current state of affairs (e.g. players avoiding highpop servers) will change drastically anyway. Not by penalizing players on lowpop servers, but by giving the players incentives and means to cooperate or to engage in pvp (not the onesided kind). People avoiding highpop servers, no incentives to cooperate (trusty friends aside), the fear of getting spawn camped near the cities, the lack of goals/content in endgame (e.g. player created content, like bases) are obviously all linked together and I am quite confident that this will get fixed by the introduction of new features and content in standalone. It is very likely, though, that we'll see different problems in the future, but we'll be here to spot and fix those as well, I guess. That being said, I do not think that the 'problem' of players choosing lowpop servers isn't really a problem imho and even if it was, it doesn't have to be adressed specifically, as it'll sort itself out in the above described way. On the topic of server hopping and avoiding night time, I have a similar prediction and opinion. With the duping problem we are experiencing, nvgs are abundant. Starting out on a night server, though, running through the dark with the tiny beam of your flashlight and an approximate 30 people can see everything, clear as day...and they're hunting you, because they have nothing else to do...is not everyone's favorite playstyle. Some might enjoy the thrill of it anyway and with the freedom to choose the timezone of your server, everyone can find the right server for his or her playstyle. At the moment, the only thing that encourages players to stick to a specific server are tents and vehicles, aka camps aka what is announced to get expanded on and (hopefully will) transform to be a fully fleshed out endgame content in the standalone. The more players will be able to shape their environment, the more faithful to the server they will be (think minecraft maybe). I'd personally like to see another feature, though I am not too sure whether it would be technically feasible or even wanted at all. Bigger maps (including some way to allow people to group up easy without being exploitable as quick travel - but that's another story) and higher player caps - some middle ground between mmo style and the current fps style. Put this together with base building and possible other minecraftian elements and I'd not only be one happy zombie, but players would be forced-by-incentive to play on a chosen home server (ofc keeping the ability to switch servers, unlike mmos). But again, this might be neither wanted, nor technically feasible.

Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?

It's a bloody 50.cal what do you expect?? a 50.cal to fire feathers??? And newsflash DayZ is NOT balanced you don't like it go play a balanced game like cod or bf3 and leave the rest of us to DayZ.50.cals are needed to take out vehicles and as an added bonus they are also excellent player killers. 50.cals should not be removed! op should remove himself if he dosent like them in the game!

Imagine if you could shoot out the windows of the vehicles! It would be amazing.

    Official US 1040 Colony Thread

My US 1040 experience. After walking all the way from the NWAF, I finally reached their compound. I knew it was a risky move to go here, but my curiosity got the better of me and I started down the road, following the procedures outlined in this post. I used my L85 TWS to scan the compound from a distance, and saw no movement. I walked another 100 meters or so and checked the place again, still no signs of life. I started to get suspicious, so I thermal scanned the trees on either side to check for snipers. Still nothing. Then I reached the gate, and I saw it. Bodies up and down the road, and hordes of flies buzzing around them. Dead survivors lined the streets, and there was no one at the compound to greet me. I walked inside and found a tent with some nice gear in it, and I used it to restock on ammo and food. When I turned around to leave the creepy place, I casually scanned the trees again. My heart almost stopped when I practically made eye contact with two snipers on the hill across the street, both of them looking straight at me. I ran behind the fuel tank in front of the building, just they opened fire. An AS50 and a DMR, from the sound of it. Their bullets tore up the grass mere inches from me, and they unloaded what must have been 10-12 rounds trying to nail me. Having no cover to run to on either side, I was contemplating my next move on how to escape the snipers when I heard footsteps next to me. Another player in camo clothing walked right up to where I was hiding, carrying an M4A1 CCO SD. Somehow he didn't see me proning in the grass in my ghillie suit, and he walked right past me. Since the snipers weren't firing on him, I can only assume he was with the bandits. I could see some vehicles parked next to the main building, so after waiting a minute or two, I ran across the courtyard and hid by the vehicles. The guy in the camo that was looking for knew something was up and started coming my way, so I unloaded on him with my L85. He hit the deck bleeding, and his sniper buddies started dumping bullets into the parked cars next to me. I jumped on the motorcycle and tore outta there like a bat out of hell, riding around the south end of the complex away from the snipers. Now I was pissed. I had 4 satchel charges in my backpack, and this place was going to pay for taking potshots at me. I walked the long way around, heading 500 meters south, then east, then circling back around to the north side of the complex, aiming to come up the hill behind the snipers and put a few rounds into them from behind. When I got up there though, there were no more snipers. From my vantage point on the hill, I could see the front gate. There were now 5-6 guys milling around at the entrance. I wasn't sure whether the snipers who fired at me were part of the compound's security team, or just random bandits. Then the most curious part happened. I watched as an unarmed survivor walked up the road to their compound, moving slowly, staying on the road, and unarmed. He was greeted at the gate, then taken into the compound. They moved around a corner, then I didn't see him for about 6 minutes. After that waiting time, the survivor came back out, geared up with an AKM, an alice pack, and NVGs. The newbie walked down the road, and the guards saluted him on the way out. Seeing these acts of kindness, I decided not to bomb their building into oblivion and instead connected to their teamspeak server. When I asked why they fired at me, they insisted that the snipers on the hill were not part of their group and had already killed three of them, and that they had not been at the compound until just recently. I told them my story about having to avoid the snipers and the soldier that came after me, stealing the motorcycle, and coming back to blow the place up. When they said it wasn't them, I walked down into the compound and actually conducted some trades, giving them the satchels in exchange for some AS50 rounds and a GPS. After we traded, they hopped in their ural and said they were going to raid the NWAF, and invited me to tag along. What started off as a bloodbath ended well, with me making a couple new friends and finding out that these guys are legit. Unfortunately, some lame hacker nuked the NWAF and killed us all (including the admin). And I do mean NUKED, the entire countryside was on fire and visible for miles. We hiked up there the long way to retrieve our gear, and just as we got it all back, we were killscripted. No shots, no booms, just everyone dead (again, including the server admin). At this point, the admin restarted the server and kicked everyone that was not in our group. Eventually we made it back to the compound, and they gave me a spare AS50 and a coyote pack free of charge to make up for the ones that I lost to the hackers at the NWAF. Happy to get some of my stuff back, I left the server as quickly as possible and probably won't go back. In summary, there are bandits and hackers plaguing this place constantly, and if you get hacked/sniped, it is most likely not the colony members doing it. I personally watched them help one total newb, and give assistance to two others throughout the course of the night. These guys are legit, stop giving them flak. The bandits are the normal fagtarded bandits there to ruin everyone's day because they have nothing better to do, and the hackers blowing people up and kill scripting are not associated with members of this colony. The other posters in this thread that are accusing the colonists of hacks, are most likely the hackers that keep blowing the place up. TL;DR VERSION Went to the colony, got shot at, ran away, came back to blow it up, found out the snipers were just passing bandits, conducted some trades, went to raid the NWAF with these colonists, got nuked by hackers, went back to get my stuff, got autokilled by a hacker, colony members donated an AS50 and a coyote pack to me for my troubles. In short, this place is constantly raided by hackers and bandits, but the guys that run the place are actually cool and I don't think they are shooting at anyone.

Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?

Well they are both "Anti-Material" Rifles, and seeing there are vehicles in the game and the huge area of land in game then yes i find them an essential piece of kit. So you had a bad day in Cherno, havn't we all?? I have honestly lost count of the "why are there snipers" posts only for them all to reach the same conclusion... Deal with it.. every platoon has at least 1 marksman with the OP rifle, thats just how military things work... best advice i can give you is try and stay outta their sights and move faster and in more patterned shapes :)

Playclaw Test EVGA Gtx 670 FTW Edition

Actually, it's more about the game than the hardware. The more zombies, players, objects and moving vehicles there are on the map the worse your fps will get. I have an i7 with a top tier gpu and I have around 40-50 fps in cities like Cherno & Elektro. Some servers give me 120 fps while I could have 40 on others.

No vehicles spawning on new server.

Same here (DE 1610, ID: 8263). 7 days after setting the server up, vehicles finally started spawning but are dissappearing after each restart. There has been a single occurence where an ural transformed to a bike, other than that, all vehicles vanished.
  10. Mastiff (DayZ)

Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).

Just a quicky, the reason they can run 'current' games is because they are down graded, lets look at bf3 map size, player count and graphics... all massive downgrades compared to the pcs, console can play at a whoppng 720p where as the pc can easily play 1600 or 2440, ye the pc is still pulled downed by the console with key bindings, vehicles and updates.... Consoles are not powerful, they just have games made to be suiable for that gen, pcs only games tend to have a large room to play with especially with up to date tech, not 7 year old crap

    My Camp!

Wish i had your quad :( We got a giant camp but can't find any vehicles ! Been running for weeks now
  12. Yes, this is happening to a lot of people. We spent 2 hours last night finding parts to repair a UAZ we found. We took it to our camp - it was loaded up with 10 frag grenades, DMR Mags, a DMR, 20 AK rounds, Stanag SD, etc - and after a server restart it was gone, along with all our tents and all the items we had in the tents. Also, we recently acquired 2 bicycles and one of them turned into a motorcycle on restart. A lot of shapeshifting vehicles going around in this patch.
  13. Yeah nice. We have vehicles now but we can't use them, because nothing is saved. Tried it 3 times and the vehicles just reset all the time. If this goes on, many people will cancel their subscriptions for their servers.

    An Apology

Kudos to you for having a conscience. I thought endgame was sitting on sniper hill between Cherno and Elektro, murdering folks. Turns out endgame is playing hide and seek with vehicles in the wilderness. I have given up murdering and regained my humanity. Currently trying to become proficient with the crossbow. Please Rocket, can you put a reflex sight on it?!
  15. Friend of mine bought a server for us... I know he can lock it and kick people out, but we really are scared of hackers as we have setup a very nice camp with a lot of vehicles. It's only a matter of time before hacks get updated again. Note: Only 2 people have joined, but left after 5 minutes.
  16. It will be a US located server. And yeah, we had a camp with over 20 vehicles or so.. not raided once for 2 weeks straight.. we where so stockpiled it was crazy.. we had atleast 150 mags of stanag and the same amount of ammo for all the other mayor ones like akm and ak74, we had SO MUCH GEAR. Man those were the days. @Derpy Nice, I cant wait ^^ Can you lead the bronys in the meetup? I am terrible at leading almost 40 people :P I am personally just arranging and organizing it, although the S6! clan will help lead the players it could be nice to have a helping hand! :) /)

The one thing that stops me from playing atm...

Exactly, and I'm at that point now. My character is currently logged out at Berezino and I just don't feel like playing, knowing I've got to walk half an hour to get to Elektro or Stary. There should be more vehicles and less gas stations. Also it shouldn't be possible for people to hoard all the vehicles on the map so others have none.

The one thing that stops me from playing atm...

if we are talking realism here then yes there should be cars everywhere but no fuel. I think a nice balance would be best, have more vehicles spawn then there currently is and take away the majority of fuel tanks

    UK 206 Server Thread

Yeah pretty similar to what we've done. Constantly moving vehicles/camps every time they got found sucked the fun out of the game. Since we've stopped making camps and started venturing into the hot spots more it's been a lot more enjoyable. Couple of our guys ditched the L85 recently as they got fed up with it, would be interesting to see how things changed if they did remove it, would make ghillie suits a lot more powerful than they are already as unless you have superb eyesight, the L85 is by far the easiest way to spot a ghillied player.
  20. Ask Me Anything, I wont get offended. I started because I lost a survivor I had for 32 days, I had my M4A1 CCO and a CZ (I know not amazing loadout) and then BOOM nuked server. I decided that since I know how to hack (I knew how to hack arma from before) I was gonna get my stuff back, we also lost 3 vehicles, I did not spawn those back. Since I have started hacking I have done it for fun, I play on a side chat server and help people in need, go to where other mean hackers are (God mode snipers) and kill them (TP to ocean normally works). I have never nuked a server, nor killed anybody actually while hacking, either than ones that deserve it (I.E. god mode snipers) Here comes the flames

    Horses and wild animals

+1 for the horses! They would compensate the missing vehicles and they would have to eat & drink from time to time, so no more hidden vehicles/horses outside of the map boundaries.

    UK 206 Server Thread

Hehe we found those vehicles earlier that evening so decided to go looking for trouble as we have found it dosent matter where we hide stuff it always gets found[even bikes in trees]. Was abit gutting i missed most of the decent action as i was just sat shooting the infected that ran to the sniper fire, and keeping eyes on the cars incase someone ran up and tried to steal one.Ionly had a SAW as im getting sick of carrying that silly thermal gun about[realy want them to remove it].

End Game / Nothing to do

I have been stuck in the same place you are! You could team up with players (that is what makes this game REALLY fun) find vehicles, make camp setups. I would highly suggest that you should play on expert in a high populated server.
  24. Recently on Day Z i've noticed that I can get top grade loot extremely quickly. All I do is find a tent site with every single item in the game within 15 minutes of playing, it's way too easy! I died yesterday and I already have NVG's, Rangefinder, MK 48, All the medical supplies I will need forerver, Coyote Backpack, Food for days, Ghillie Suit (Although I don't wear it because the Hero Skin is so orgasmic) and anything else I want (Including vehicles). "ERMAHGERD U R SO LUCKY" Not really, i've done this a few times on different servers also. Then I have all this military grade loot, now I have conquered the zombie apocalypse and I will never die to zombies in a zombie survival game. So PVP? I could if I wanted to but I, and other players don't really like PVPing as it's not my play style so the game becomes very boring, and I continuously ask my friends "Where should we go now?" which is normally replied with "I dunno" or "I don't care" so we end up doing pretty much nothing until we get shot or accidentally get ourselves killed by some glitch involving breaking bones or whatever. I think there should either be an ending or at least more to do in Chernarus. I haven't thought much about what a ending could be, maybe leaving Chernarus? Of course you wouldn't have to if you didn't want to, and there would be a lot of prerequisites in doing so, maybe you have to get to a airfield that has a ridiculous amount of zombies inside it (I'm talking like 200+) then gather enough parts to fuel, repair and launch a airplane. (Also this makes me think about helicopters, who in their right mind would fly in a helicopter around the same zombie infested county when they could just leave Chernarus and go somewhere safer?). I don't think it should be a Cure the zombie infestation type ending, because it wouldn't make sense for everyone else that is still playing, but hey at least a ending to a otherwise easy game. I mentioned more to do in Chernarus, I don't know what but I have often discussed with friends 'Money' in Day Z, find it on zombies etc. It would be great to have vending machines you could buy food from (This might make it too easy so it could be junk food that doesn't cure starvation all the way or doesn't heal any blood). Money would be extremely rare etc. and you could use it for other things possibly purchase goods and weaponry from NPC vendors like a Dead Rising kind of deal. When I first started playing Day Z it was a completely different experience from any other game i've ever played. Unexpected things would happen, first time seeing Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk and seeing the bountiful loot they held. Or being paranoid as hell when it's nighttime and you hear the growls and moans of the zombies as you tried to fight the horde with the little ammunition you had. Needless to say, I don't get these experiences anymore Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk are just PVP playground, excluding the hospitals where you can get useful stuff. I mean it's cool if you like PVP and all that I ain't hating, it's just I see myself as a medic/friendly type, I litreally don't kill anyone because if I do get killed it doesn't matter to me. Just 20 minutes and I have all my stuff back, and possibly more (If i get a Kamenka spawn then just travel north to find metric shit tonnes of tent sites). I've debated about joining one of those Medic Clans that go around helping people but eh, doesn't seem interesting to me (If you've had experience with these groups reply to this post because I would actually be genuinely interested in that) I guess this was just a rant post, it was supposed to have some great fuckin' ideas but I guess i'm a bad forum writer/poster w/e. I hope i'm not the only one that gets bored as fuck from Day Z, I just wish it had more to do or an ending. Post whatever you think of the Money idea or Endings - Or even post your own I would love to see some.
  25. There's no point until duping is fixed. Duping can't be fixed in the mod, only in standalone. Not to mention all the hackers who can just spawn items in non-stop for all their friends. Same with vehicles. It sucks, it really does, but there's really not a lot that can be done about it.
