  1. My server experiences very similar issues. However our issues are very intermittent. Sometimes the tents save, sometimes they don't. I have yet to have a vehicle save in a position it was in since the upgrade to 1.7.2.5. Our helo keeps popping up in new locations, as well as all of our vehicles. We've done testing with server restarts every 15 minutes after moving/saving things, all with the same ultimate end result. Tents are intermittent and vehicles straight up don't save.

    Dealing with hacking (Server rollback)

    Consider cases where an entire server gets killed, and all vehicles destroyed or relocated to the desert, im not talking about serveradmins cheating death and destruction, nor do i think that it should even be in their power to do so in a "hive based persistent game"

    No vehicles spawning on new server.

    So far I can tell that vehicles are spawning just fine on our ID ~8700 server, still once rebooted the V2A truck turned into a bicycle. Surprisingly the vehicle seems to remember the state of damage it was in, as I was able to repair the engine of the bicycle (which was the only damaged thing remaining on the truck before). Seems like the vehicle class gets lost somewhere in the database during the save and reload process.
  4. Not sure who, but was venturing out in the forests, saw two vehicles (Tractor and some kind of car), includine a person near it. Was looking to see if he would D/C soon after, randomly saw two ATVs driving toward me but I was proned in thick bush with a ghillie so it must have mate it hard to see me, I emptied about 6-7 shots of an AKM from 50 meters or so, guy got out of the ATV like nothing, then emptied the remaining clip (20~ish) directly into the second survivor. No dice, shortly after, one guy teleported directly behind me (I saw it) and started firing his Bizon, luckily since it's such a weak gun, and he's such a bad shot, I had time to abort before the inevitable happened. TL;DR: Two of the following 4 people other people on the server are suspected of hacking: DinoBarf, GodlyKills, mark, OldManMcD. Sorry if I wrongly accuse anyone, but with no nametags theres no way of knowing which. TL;DR: Hacker was GodlyKills, confirmed. He talked in game while spawning choppers etc. Good luck!
  5. Unfortunately I have seen personally and read about numerous occasions on this forum about Server Admins actually restarting their own servers as soon as they lose their stuff or vehicles. So this sort of rollback does already occur. Personally I would be pissed though if I was on a server that got rolled back cause someone lost their precious car only to cause me to rollback to just before I picked up this leet weapon .. No easy fix im afraid.

Like alot of you im getting tired of hackers, either getting killed loosing days of progress or going AFK and come back an hour later with ALL your stashed vehicles missing on a server (If you are a hoarder, like me, that is). So I have a suggestion, it may get your panties in a bunch depending on your view of the game, or you may think that this could be a temporary solution till dayz goes standalone / gets fixed. Before proceeding im blatantly assuming that vehicle location, tent location / loot etc is stored in the hive. What about making some sort of makeshift server rollback system. when ANY player connects, store login time and server id (?) in the hive (I dont know if you are doing this already). Also store inventory at this stage. Vehicle positions and player inventory could also be backed up at fixed intervals (Put in a backup table / database along with a timestamp and serverid). Now if a hacker attacks a server, what do you do? If you don't care and really like starting all over (I like it, as long as its an honest death, and not a hacker telling me "One of these days... POW!!! Right in the kisser! BANG, ZOOM! Straight to the moon!" prior to actually sending me there) then just login to another server, rinse and repeat. If you LIKE the persistency in this game, wait for a server admin (or user?) to report the incident. And don't join any server till the servername changes the [reset:dd-mm hh:ii] tag to a timestamp prior to the attack. Maybe there could be some other means to notify players of a reset than a server title (dont even know if its possible). A website, RSS feed or some data send to the launcher? I don't know how much hacking there is exactly, so i have no grasp of the amount of man hours would be spend in analyzing and responding to such reports. It might be really unfeasible, in that case just disregard this entire post, or recruit some volunteers, I would gladly be of assistance PS. I fully understand that this might seem like a waste of time, since the standalone will be realeased soon and will be "hacker free", but if the standalone is somehow delayed, or suffers the same amount of hacking i think it could be considered, as a temporary fix. PPS. excuse me for this long and messy post, I have fantasized about lines upon lines of SQF, code and DB structure, to detect hacker attacks, keep track of inventory / vehicles and handling rollingback on incidents, i DO realise that this would be quite some endevour at this stage, but i really feel that this game is broken because of hackers and its a shame.
  7. are you sure they are not saving ? in my case they save all the time but what ever server i choose a hacker will log in during the day locate the ural and destroys it + the camp. i know the difference between an unsaved camp and a destroyed camp. i can clearly tell you the last 5 days , all my vehicles got destroyed by hackers . the save bug occured once and that time there where no wrecks or tents arround.

  9. Hey all, quick short story about our fun last night. A hacker hit our server, summoned us all to Electro and fully equipped everyone with the latest equipment and guns. Thankfully though no-one went postal so my friend and I were able to crawl away and then quickly abort out to change servers. This will prove a telling point shortly. We joined a new server, hadnt seen it before and the ping was great so we jumped on. Turns out the server had only just become operational so it was a race for the vehicles :) - My friend was running North of Berenizo, not far out of town and a helicopter appeared, must have seen her and began chasing with the occasional shot being fired at her, she was in the trees running but came across a clearing, the heli was there (turns out it was just lifting off after depositing someone) so I saying for her to shoot it !!, she is not much of a pvper but she had some nice gear from the hacker above so she starts shooting at the copter with her as50. Must have hit the pilot cause you see him fall out the side and hit the ground. Her success was shortlived as she was shot a second later. I run her back to her body and it was gone.. :(, so was the dead pilot however we could see smoke not far away so we went to investigate, theres a crashed heli on fire, took out some trees as well and there were a couple of bodies around it. She was able to gear up again off the dead bodies. Off we go, we meet up with 2 other friends and our purpose was to now find a couple of vehicles. Head back from Polana, we have a tractor and a blue S1203 van (this van took us hours to complete, we actually put 4 tyres on it, fixed it up and forgot to save it, came back and it was needing all of it again... ARGH, did it again and we drive off). Hacker hit... the worse kind, this type of the hacker is the one that is invulnerable and teleports :(, for some reasons the BE does not get these guys as this is the 2nd time is as many days we have encountered one. He was standing in the middle of the road, I swerved to avoid him but hit him anyway, he was intent of being hit for some reason, however this did not kill him. He then took out my friend in the Tractor behind us, I kept going and he teleports in front of us and calmly headshots the 3 of us. All 4 of us dead, It took me nearly an hour to get back to the scene but he had destroyed all the vehicles and hid the bodies... On a serious note though, have you server admin people thought of colluding and sharing your BAN files ?, im talking about server specific bans, some hacker finally gets caught by an admin and banned from a server, he just jumps on another server and continues hacking... would be great if you all got together so a ban from one server results in ban across many. Just a thought. Battleye is doing a swell job in banning people, saw quite a few last night but the teleporting and invuln hack seems to be missed.

    FUCKING SERVER ADMINS Bunch of cheating no good bastards they are! They all want to ban us and horde vehicles! They don't care about the community and edit logs to frame us! Hurr Durr I am community dipshit support team and you will obey the law! God this shit makes my head hurt. I can't wait for a standalone game with dedicated servers already. Hell I'm canceling my server as soon as my time this month is up. I follow the rules and haven't banned anyone yet, but this is just ridiculous. Fuck paying money for something I have no power to protect or no room to work with. This fucking game is broken at the moment anyway.

    But there is still on bug between ID 6000-8000 Vehicle are restet if the restart the server. Partner clan report that bug on DE 925 I hope vehicles above 8000 did not have the bug. I wont waist my time...
  12. Im in the Clan, we like fty but no he does not represent all of us. Quit being a tard William Wallace. And we revertedto 2.4 because of tents or vehicles not saving location or items. You guys are welcome to play w/ us when we revert to a later patch that has been fixed.
  13. Weve got a or a few that really like to fuck with us. Opening doors and closing them, laying bear traps in walking paths of our camp, breaking legs, hoping in vehicles invisible so you cant get anyone else in. Its annoying, but the creative and less harmful ones do add something to the game youll never get anywhere else lol.

Yes they are, sorry but anyone telling you otherwise is kidding themselves or playing on empty servers, expect to be turned into a dog, chicken, seagull, sheep, cow, teleported into the ocean or to the moon, vehicles and guns that don't even exist in DayZ being spawned, chased by invisible/invincible players, parachuting cows and you and the rest of the server to be sent to thunderdome (a purpose built death match arena from mad max where you must fight to the death) that being said, it's still a load of fun, at least some of them are creative: http://i.imgur.com/I3G21.jpg

  16. that comes from crashed/destroyed vehicles. its a bug that exists even in basic Arma II from what Ive read. A restart will remove it but im currently examining logs so itll be a little bit.
  17. Not a lot, sadly. Most people have to ask... :( And, yes, having a team does make things easier. Such as the fact most players won't fuck with you because they see that you have 8-10 other people with you. Even smaller groups of 4-5 players tend to back off when they see us rolling through. Oh, and not to mention, we can clean an entire camp out with everyone on and 2 vehicles going :P
  18. Hello there, Possibly raging post here, but as of tonight, I'm done with this game in its current shape and will address why. First of all, to the people who will jump on me to tell "it's just an alpha", I agree with you, that's why I'll wait for the standalone. But to be a little sarcastic, dayz is in alpha while the hacks are in full release mode :) So let's back on topic, here are some things that made me quit this game (once again, on its current shape): - Item duping, and i'm talking as someone who benefited out of that bug. My friends and I setted up our first camp one week ago and realised soon that some tents were bugged when we packed/moved them, they reappeared at their initial position full of stuff, gg we now have unlimited items. Sad thing is we really wanted to delete some tents, but we just can't, the more we delete them, the more we have until the point where we have now 50ish AS 50, 15 ghillie suits, full ammo, full of everything, not even on purpose, every server restart, we're getting full stacked again no matther what we do. It leads to an obvious imbalance and create a boring gameplay since you don't have to farm anymore, just find one item and it's like having it on an infinite loop. - Vehicles : let's get it straight, you're looking for them when you're on the learnig curve, and at the end, you don't want them anymore, they're full bugged: can't past bridges, auto-repair/refuel when you leave them, so unpredictable they're not worth it. - Server Hopping: We spotted our first chopper on Starinsky, so my friends and I gathered around the island and one groupe got on town looking for a rotor. After a few minutes, we heard the heli flying around and crashed somewhere. Server hopping, what a nice feature. I mean, this network architecture can't work. You can't have private servers that feed a centralised database. It's just ok, let's find a server where we can abuse, it's all good, we will profit from that everywhere else. - Hacking: Second chopper found, server was empty. We repaired it, landed it close to our base where we know there are none close. One hour later, still a few people on the server but the chopper is gone. Many hours are also spent to recover from hacking death. After one hour of quad riding to grab a friend who just died from a hacker, i came back to the camp, while i refuel at the camp, my friend is blindly headshot at a close range (heard the gunshot so close), i stand up, check around, see the fire from a gun in front of me without seeing the guy: GG hacker once again, here we go again for a one-two hour run for nothing. repeat that once or twice a week and you just want to quit. - Server administration: I thought, oh well I'll handle hacker by myself by buying a server. Then I realised hackers have more power than you do, so yeah, you ban, sometimes not accurately, so yeah you need to hire a server admin that could spend his entire day looking at the log. But too late, the arm is already done no matther what. With people bitching everywhere about admin abuse, and admins being almost powerless with hacker, i don't know the point of getting a public server anymore. If you want people to run server by themselves, then give them some easy and powerfull tools to admin their servers. - And the ice on the cake, I logged off the game and got a global ban message when logging off. At first I thought, yeah might be a bug and I tried to log again since then, still global banned. No need to say I've never ever used a hack on this game or any other games (For what it's worth, I'm running a sponsored clan/guild since 2008 zzzzz). I read later on BattleEye that this a bug on their side and that they will unban, sill waiting for my unban. But it's ok since I'm gonna wait for the standalone so I don't really care about that. If i was caring I would have emailed battleye etc... So basically, we were looking to PvP this week and just had a one hour fight at zeleno out of 30 hours played together, I let you figure. The concept of this game is great, almost the ideas thrown into this game are - in my humble opinion - great. But everything around it is just unefficient to the max. So please, consider all those concerns in the standalone and hope those issues will get adressed cause once again, the concept is brillant.

    Admin see someone driving around in a Black SUV, right? If this would have happened our server, you would have been told that the vehicle was hacked in, and to get out so it could be destroyed. If you refused and quoted the ridiculous rule of Rockets, "you can't be kicked/banned for using a scripted/hacked in weapon/vehicle if you didn't script/hack it in" you would have been kicked, the vehicle destroyed and that would have ended the problem. Saying that it is wrong to script in a weapon/vehicle that is not in the MOD, but it is ok to use it as long as you didn't introduce it to the game is asinine. Why do you ask, well Players A - E all pitch in $5 to buy a BE Bypass. They then proceed to have Player A script in multiple weapons/vehicles, and everyone grabs one and goes about their merry way causing havoc in the server. Player A could be banned, but players b -e could not, how is that right in any universe? They should have asked you to get out so they could destroy it, if you refused, kick you, destroy it and continue having fun.
  20. ok.........So on my teams server which is fully updated arma2 version and dayZ version blablah.5 i set up 10 tents, save them each, put something in 2 of them and saved them again. restarted server. all tents there with gear in them. havent check vehicles yet.
  21. i been actually playing on very low population servers . 5 to 10 players at peak times , 1 in normal times (me) the problem doesent come from server choice , i tried 10 differents servers , high pop , low pop , server friends with no players at all . the result is always the same. i have no problem stashing tents none of my camps without vehicles gets busted so my conclusion is my camp get busted because of the vechicle and because of the wallhack tents/vehicles/players locator (esp). all my camp got unbusted for like 3 weeks now , but every time i bring back a vehicles there no matter what the camp will be destroyed the next 5 hours . its not vehicles disapearing (i got that bug once) because i see the behicles destroyed wrecks and flat tents. i understand a ural is big and might get my camp busted , but that happened as well only with bikes and motorbikes hidden and impossible to see without tree hack or esp wallhack.
  22. So after you were killed by hackers again and again you thought they might stop when u were stashing vehicles? Sounds like It'd be more likely you would be targeted really. Hacking is becoming a major problem, don't expect to be able to stash up all kinds of vehicles and equipment and still have it the next day. That said, not all vehicle and tent disappearances are caused by hackers. An awful lot of people out there are farming camps rather than risking high end loot spawns. You think you found a super-secret hiding spot that no one else could have thought of? Think again my friend, if you've thought of it then everyone else has as well. All of that aside, if you want to minimise your chance of having a hacker take a giant shit over your game time, then I would suggest staying away from high-population servers that are full or nearly at capacity, as these are just the kinds of servers that hackers target so as to piss off as many people as they can. Also if you see or hear ANYTHING that is even slightly out of the ordinary, log out and go somewhere else (large amounts of livestock in one place, dogs, chunks of people dying at one time, zombies aggroing onto nothing at all, flying saucers ~u know the drill). Does anyone knows a server that doesent broadcast ip in dayzcommander and 6 launcher ? so i can avoid "hackers hoppers" i don't wanna stash all vehicles, the previous camp was just ural + few tents , nothing huge i used to drive it at night so i store all the weapons i collect and bring them back. what options do i have now only 3 i bet. -finding hackers free server -finding a server that doesent broadcast name -starts to hack and cheat people tell me stashing is bad but im playing the game is not like im leaving my ural there all day long , when i logs in i drive it all night.....

    Is using a satchel charge a bannable offense?

    I hid the satchel charges at various tents/vehicles. My friends will be logging in soon to aquire them. I'll give the server admins a chance to respond, but if they don't my friends should be able to verify that either the SA or BattlEye is kicking people automatically for using satchel charges and then this server is banning people for it.
  25. The issue is not with gameplay on the locked server being unfair. The issue is on that server clans/groups of admins/whoever has access can stockpile gear in tents out in the open, use all of the vehicles to easily and quickly navigate the map, and stockpile gear from the airfeilds and downed choppers and then jump to open servers using their unfair advantage against others. If you can keep a stockpile of weapons in a tent right at the NW airfield on a locked server and easily jump back and forth to public servers you have an unfair advantage. Or, if you can drive a bus straight in to Cherno with your entire clan on it and leave it there while you jump to another server with your easily looted weapons because no one on your locked server will steal it that's an unfair advantage. It's the fact your player and personal inventory can hop with you to unlocked servers that make the locked server inappropriate and a potential vehicle for abuse.
