I started this because I want to see how many servers are not saving correctly. It used to work. Just throw a replie and server name if you want. Helo wont save a bus will save in a area but not items. a dirt bike I have will save. But not items. The only Items I have that save are pre 1.7.2.5 and pre latest beta patches. We have rolled back and forward and tried different combos of server files but so far no luck. I know its in beta but Jesus it did work. Like I suggested in another Forum post today If it is a high Id Issue. Remove Low level Id`s of junk like cans and Give the Id`s to good t hings like Helos and Vehicles. If it is a My sql data base Issue Id volunteer and sign a NDA . IM familiar with NDA`s IM gov contractor currently On Blackhawks. BLAABLAA I could go on forever. But IM sure we have the ability in this community to help. With out wanting anything in return but a solid game to buy in a few months. Mike

So we have helicopter crashes, but i thought we could do with something a little more common, and with a little less interesting loot. Car crashes can happen on main roads, dirt roads, and in towns. There will be a few different types of crashes, Single, which will be one Vehicle, that had maybe flipped over or crashed into a tree. Double, which will be two, and triple, which will be three. Chance of spawning Single:70% Double:20% Triple:10% Each vehicle will hold between one and 10 times. The Vehicles will be damaged beyond repair. There will also be different types of Vehicle, spawning different items. Civilian : 40% chance of spawning- Will spawn the same loot as a Residential High yield spawn . Police: 40% chance of spawning- This will drop weapons, such as M9, G17, 810, m1014, colt, revolver, and mp5. I feel that these weapons are even more uncommon the AKs, and i think that needs to change, we need to have a bigger gap, between civilian loot, and the high end military stuff. I think some sort of Police/law enforcement loot, would work better. Medical:10%- drops medical supplies. Military:10% - Drops the same stuff as you would find in a low level military spawn, such as the tents in cherno. Just a random thought what do you guys think?

Tl;dr: Are helicopter fly bys in both rural and urban/military areas the norm? Is server hopping a big problem? There seem to be a lot of hackers, has this number been decreasing or increasing (proportionately speaking)? OK, I didn't really know where to write this but since I'm quite a new player I think it should go here. Disclaimer at the top: despite any complaining it may sound like I'm doing later on in this post, I don't think that anything needs to be done to pkers, griefers or bandits generally (only hackers), as I see it, frustration is part of the game and I should just learn from my mistakes :) Also I've really been enjoying it so far as well. Anyway, so yeah, took me a little bit of time to get used to it, it doesn't play out too much like most other games I play/have played but I wouldn't say the learning curve was high. Had a bit of getting used to the controls (not in a customisable sense but just what was contextual what wasn't, trying to find out how exactly to do everything), I haven't figured it all out but I'm more or less used to it. Had my panic moments, and my incredibly tedious moments - in a fit of stupidity I trekked quite far away from the nearest hospital without even thinking about picking up morphine, in fact I didn't even know that I would need these. I didn't really read the wiki or anything because in a game like this I think it's better to figure things out as you go. Anyway you can guess how that ended up, a two hour trek in prone position back to the closest hospital. I don't mind, it's all character building and learning, not anything I would care to repeat if I could help it though. This was in vain though because about 30 minutes from this point I got blown up in what seemed to be a random fly by chopper. They didn't stop, didn't slow down and caught me whilst I was hiding prone underneath a tree (I don't trust any vehicle noises at this point!). This leads to my first question I guess, is this kind of thing common? I mean I was out in the middle of no where, up a little bit south of black lake in woodland. There was no reason for a chopper to be there really, it's not exactly prime location as far as I could tell, though I may not know enough to judge that. Anyway, I know it's common for snipers to camp out near frequently visited areas and that a lot of players are generally hostile even if they're not bandits but I didn't read anything about this. So was I just unlucky? The next thing I wanted to ask, is server hopping a common problem? It seems to be too easy to do on here at the moment if you're looking for some good loot it just takes a couple of minutes of loading and bam, you can pretty much get what you're looking for. Obviously there are loads of things I would like to see improved already, being able to fortify buildings/towns - but without wiping out Zs as someone suggested, this would certainly help with the "survivor" side actually trying to form a new community from the wreckage of humanity, foraging flora even so far as to make farm land potentially arable, something like water purification (when something has turned almost everyone into Zs I think it would probably be a safe bet that the water would NOT be drinkable), better and more realistic first aid (my god, not another 2 hour crawl), I also think that certain vehicles should be really prohibitive to use, I mean seriously, 99.999999% of people are not going to be able to fly a chopper just because they repaired (hell, why can just anyone repair a chopper anyway? It should be harder than it is) it, raw meat should spoil as should cooked meat, day light times should mimic actual real world seasonal times not be fixed (though I think it was already stated this wouldn't change). Too many things, most of which have almost certainly been mentioned (at a quick glance over the suggestions thread, I'm really impressed by some of the stuff on there), but having a game marketed as realistic opens it up to all sorts of nitpicking and pedantry. Some things can't be changed (like the general dickishness of human nature when there's lots of anonymity and no emotional attachment or real emotional consequence to your actions) which is a shame as this is supposed to be realistic... but as this is partial social experiment, I think maybe you wouldn't want to change it even if you had the means. OK that was a very rambling selection of thoughts and in reality only a few questions.

get bored of fk*ng server
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If they are really working on the standalone, they gonna loose so many players, coz of annoying bugs on the dayz alpha, and fix them take less time Cancel object in ur inventory, same on tent and vehicles, 1 hurt of zombie bleed you(or u need painkiller) on a regular server, bugged ground (broke legs just walking around an exploded building/vehicles) I know why there is so many cheaters, quote Mzly XD -
You know that the vehicles are tied to the server you found it on right?

Literally, IN PUSTOSHKA. They have vehicles, tents, etc... the town of Pustoshka is barricaded off..... plenty of goodies inside... Skalisty Island also has a great number of tents with items available. There is also a chopper on that island, as well.. This is all located in Seattle 123. Go there. Have fun. You should all make a new home on that server, and bombard their bases constantly. It will be easy to follow their trends. It is becoming quite limited in terms of finding new spots to place their tents, so it shouldn't be hard to plot their new locations judging from their past camps. . . . . . . . . . . ~{SoH}~ is the clan. They told me to join a bandit crew, so I did. I don't think they expected me to actually post these coords. Enjoy it while you have them They also have tents up around Guba, and black lake. Alot of these tents are abandoned.. a LOT. Some may have some items in them, some may not... however, you will find high tier weaponry in some of them... (AS50s, M14s, M4s w/ silencer, etc etc etc). Anything you can think of. LITERALLY. RGO grenades, even... Go to PUSTOSHKA first, then go from there. They will be waiting, I am almost certain... they are probably moving everything out as we speak. Move quick! *** TIP *** SCOUR THE OUTSKIRTS OF CHERNO/ELEKTRO/BEREZINO... they have tents set up in many areas... tents are EVERYWHERE... -
US 1560 Battleye antihax ban (object access flooding)
fuzzy4ever replied to velyse (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bumping a 2 day old post to say this - Was just banned for a server for this exact same thing, it happened when I was saving a helicopter. I saved it three times and when I scrolled to save it again, I was banned. I've always saved vehicles 10 times just in case. The 'ol gutman-mentality. Based on what happened to me and what the ban is labeled as, it seems like if you access an object to many times to quickly, you'll get banned. I'm not sure how this could be related to any sort of hack though. Feel free to enlighten me! -
Nice to hear bug is known, never seen a post about it so i kept debating weather to make a post. Lost many vehicles to this.
-
I don't know if anybody said this yet, but the guy is correct. People have all the top end gear because it's spawned in. What rocket needs to do is reset everybodies stats, all the vehicles, tents, servers, etc. Battleye has picked up on banning hackers so now would be the time to do this. Once they did this, you would see how crappy the spawns are. You would see more people with just normal ak's, m16s, lee enfields, etc. The problem still lays in server hopping to get a better chance at a weapon. If you make a trip to the airfield on a low pop server, it is SOOOOO easy to get geared up. The hardest items to still get would be a coyote backpack, NVG, range finders, as50, l85, etc. Any m4, ak, pistol variant will be easy still. I have yet to find NVG or RF at the airfield. I only find them off of players, who probably got them spawned in. This is why it's best to play with friends. It only takes 1 geared person and a few others with just ak's to get geared up. Heck I had an Ak and alice pack, killed a guy in cherno and got m16, DMR, NVG, RF, coyote backpack, etc etc. My point about the server hopping is, if you take that away, people will have a much harder time finding gear.

This camp is so tricked out. Ok they always have someone on so be carful its all barb wired but the main entrance this is were they keep all their vehicles. The base is at Devils Castle. Theres usually a guy on the tower and then there is a guy watching the door. Its worth trying to loot.

Many, many servers are plagued with major cities FULL of abandoned wire fencing. When I started playing, I thought it was a cool idea, but it got to a point where I was getting denied access to the better part of crucial survival areas in major cities by people that aren't even logged in. Duping and scripting add to the problem, but that is another topic. I seem to have a very difficult time finding a toolbox, and I think I may have found more GPS's than I have toolboxes, yet I tend to find fencing kits rather consistently. It wouldn't be so terrible if only newer spawns and undergeared people had issues with fencing, but even when I find myself geared to the teeth, I rarely have a toolbox when playing solo. With the tents and vehicles being terribly unreliable for saving gear, populated servers seem to be restarted less and less, and unmanned fencing can quickly become an epidemic on a server. I rarely, if ever, see entrenching tools and sandbags, so they have yet to prove themselves as a problem. Tank and bear traps are a different story though. They are small, require tactical use, but can be a pain to find. Rarely will 1 tank trap or 1 bear trap shut down an entire area of a high traffic building, but when used correctly, can give a massive tactical advantage against player and zombie alike. Tank traps are excellent for funneling traffic around and inside buildings, and bear traps serve as a great tool for covering your back inside buildings. Neither are easily spammed to make an area impassible, yet can still give a massive advantage to a player that uses them wisely. The only way I can envision to fix the issue without changing realism or immersion is to tweak the rarity of the items. Keep the toolbox and entrenching tool relatively rare, but drop the rarity of wire kits down to that of sandbags. In turn, crank up the commonality of bear traps to that of tank traps. Players will find them more often, use them more often, and learn that they are ineffective if used incorrectly. Before you knock the idea of more bear traps, at this stage, they are pretty unreliable. Honestly, wire fences are more efficient at breaking a players legs, lol. TL:DR: Make wire fencing as rare as sandbags. Make bear traps as common as tank traps. It will reduce fence spamming and encourage tactical equipment usage without effecting immersion.

No, no. I like playing the game just fine. I wouldn't want to play your version of it because it's shallow, uninteresting and short-term which completely defeats the purpose of having a persistent world. Without storage, DayZ might as well play like ARMA 2 - instanced missions that come and go. What's the point of having a persistent world that saves its state if there is no method by which players can accumulate supplies over long periods of time? What if I want to recruit new players into my squad and outfit them quickly? What if I want to create a player-run hospital and supply my own medics with blood, morphine and antibiotics? What if I want to repair a vehicle (which requires more than 3 wheels and a jerry can)? What if I want to have a long-range loadout ready for days when I need to play over-watch and a short or medium range loadout in storage for days when I need to be prepared for urban combat? What if I want to extend the survivability of my team by stockpiling food and supplies so they do not have to enter populated areas and endanger their lives every time they get thirsty? What if I want to run a supply depot and trade weapons for car parts and medical supplies? What if I want to build a larger structure such as a fort or underground base, or repair and maintain the vehicles and equipment I get which will soon undergo degradation and disrepair as per rocket? What if I want to try and rebuild motherfucking civilization? I have to do it out of my backpack? Yes. Sorry. Insane and retarded both come to mind. In what ridiculous fucking universe does it make any sense whatsoever that I wouldn't want to store some survival supplies and equipment somewhere? What kind of survivor says "Well, there's a lot of food and important supplies over there but there's no room in my backpack so I'm just going to let it rot." Fucking ridiculous. Because when I repair vehicles I don't do it like a retard. I find out what the vehicle needs, and then I go gather those parts slowly and methodically until I have every part I need and then I use one of my existing vehicles to drive in, repair the damaged vehicle quickly, and get out safely. Instead of your method which would basically require running back and forth and forth and back and forth and back and forth over and over like a goddamn circus clown to bring items one at a fucking time from kilometers away just because you don't think a pick-up truck has a bed or a military supply vehicle a place to put motherfucking supplies. No, that's not even one of my complaints let alone the biggest. And it's not you I'm trying to convince. I can tell from reading your posts that you will never be convinced of anything. Instead I just plan on following you around and pointing out at every opportunity what a ridiculous loon you are with respect to player storage so that other players who come by and read the discussions won't mistake your ideas for legitimate contributions to the mod and wonder whether they might have to be afraid of the kind of de-evolution in mechanics and depth for which you constantly advocate. Okay, then what fucking difference does it make if I find it in 1 hour or 30 minutes because I have it stored in a tent? You just undermined your entire fucking argument. You're right. Gear is not important. Finding it is not hard. So letting me store some in a tent doesn't really undermine the pain of death. Your problem is you think the game is about gear. When I die I don't give a flying fuck what gear I had. I care about my story, the history of my character, losing contact with friends, getting cut off from my squad, resetting my zombie kill count and days survived, etc. Gear is not the point to the game. So storing it does not undermine anything let alone the "fundamental design" of the game. Link me to these polls where people agree that storage should be removed? Please? Is that the same interview where he talked about letting squads build underground bases for persistent storage that wouldn't be able to be infiltrated while they were offline? That rocket, and that interview? You putz. It's obviously not how the game was designed. Oh, please son. Tear into me all you want. Take all the time you need. I welcome your tiny little kitten claws. Meow. No, what it comes down to is that I understand that gear storage doesn't have any effect on how permadeath impacts me as a player. Because unlike you I realize the game isn't about gear or loot. It's about player interactions, stories, and creating and fostering an emotional presence in the world. It's ironic you accuse me of wanting to play WoW when you're obviously the one who is obsessed about gear and equipment. If you really thing having some shit in a tent takes away the sting of death, then you value gear far more than I do.

Here too. Another restart fixed it. @Demoni, Server gets restarted at least four times a day, usually more. I don't rely on automatic restarts as they can and do fail often (vehicles etc. missing). Once in a while something won't save for somebody but there's not much I can do about the hive. All in all though, things seem to be working well.
-
Says me. There's a big difference to being a "bandit" and being a "shitbag". Im a bandit, not the latter. Let me explain. Bandits aim to kill better geared players to take for themselves. Bandits set up ambushes in and around high population military zones, mainly to jack vehicles. Bandits look for and then raid camps, killing anyone who happens to be in the area. "shitbags" shoot noobs in elektro and pretend to themselves thaty they are the bandit god.

So not to quibble but how much longer do we need to endure Hive 0.7.3?
KField86 replied to ChernoPTA's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I also agree. The new hive has completely broken core mechanics of the game, and if a fix is not imminent, then I can definitely foresee a big decline in active players. Something has to be done. There is no point in obtaining vehicles anymore, or storing gear in tents because tents will not save, and vehicles won't be where you saved them. Not only that, but the ridiculous amount of barbed wire/tank traps/sandbags all over the map because they come back even after taken down on the next restart. It's getting ridiculous. My server has tents pitched inside supermarkets, hospitals, theres barbed wire over a lot of loot spawns, I mean there's barbed wire blocking off buildings in Komarovo. KOMAROVO. You cannot get into the pub in elektro unless you have a toolbox, so for no spawns trying to loot up in elektro it's damn near impossible to get into certain areas. I've been trying to clear things out as much as possible so new spawns can gear up, but it's impossible to stay on top of. -
This doesn't have to get personal, but you are obviously someone who is afraid to play the game. There is nothing stopping you from cooperating with other players. There is nothing stopping your medic from carrying a rifle, 30 healing supplies, and 10 cans of food and soda. And he'll probably never use all of it. There is nothing stopping your mechanic from carrying two primary weapons, three wheels, and a jerry can just in case. There is nothing stopping a squad of players from dividing their loadout and traveling the world as a team with everything that team needs to survive and stay alive. And don't get me started on vehicles. How would removing vehicle storage hinder your ability to repair vehicles? I'm absolutely curious. The reason I haven't been convinced by you yet and generally try to ignore you is because your biggest complaint is, "But then if I die I have to start all over again!" What do you think permadeath means!? Hey, here's an idea -- don't die. What game do you think you're playing? This isn't World of Warcraft. There's no purple gear. There's nothing you can't find in 8 hours of gametime and no max-damage weapon you can't find in 4. And if you desperately need to stay heavily geared, then shoot someone and wear your bandit face because it's obvious you're afraid to handle the type of gameplay that 100,000 new players deal with every week stumbling blindly and cluelessly through a world they can barely comprehend. Of course, according to the numerous polls on this forum, most people find your position to be unmoving. Not many people will take you seriously. Probably because they knew what they signed up for. LOL, yeah. I just finished watching a gamescom interview where Rocket pointed out that starting on the beach alone and disoriented is "fundamental" to the gameplay. You found a way around the point of the game, but that doesn't mean you're entitled to keep things the way they are. If you die you should be totally fucked. That's how the game was designed. That's the point of permadeath. That's what the word means -- you're dead, sucks to be you. If you take out the "you're dead, sucks to be you" then what you have is Planetside with zombies. Hopefully, you take what I said to heart and cease begging me to tear into you again for being someone so afraid of playing a game that involves permadeath that you have to exploit storage to get around it wrapping yourself in the comfort of safe, easily accessible loot. That's really what this comes down to. You can't handle permadeath. You will scream and rant every time someone even mentions imposing it upon you. You hyperventilate and use words like "retarded" and "insane" when someone merely suggests it because it is the one change to the game that you find unfathomable and unbearable...even though you signed up for it.

Sounds like the beta patch was installed and not the hive hotfix. The admin needs to install the hotfix. The tent and vehicles went by by after the hive crashed yesterday. We applied the hive hotfix and everything returned ...I know the feeling that your experiencing.....

Shoot on sight Golden rule for me now, when I started out I was being nice I helped people get to certain loot locations, gave them blood, supplies if they needed them even helped them kill other players shooting at them. My reasons for my Golden Rule 1. I had a DMR/M9 SD saw an unarmed player running from zeds he went into a building and went up the stairs (bad idea) there was no other exit but the stairs the zeds were coming up on. I ran in to help him and told him to stay back and I was killing the zeds, I turn to look at him and he had an axe. He took 2 swings at me and I died. 2. I was in a fire station saw a player with a mak ran in, he said friendly so I was okay. I asked him if he needed blood or supplies and told him what loot where around the fire station since I just got done checking them. I went to the door to close it he took aim at my head and fired. 3. Players who chat "they give up just don't kill them or I need blood i won't kill you if you help me" are just baiting you don't fall for it. I did once 4. Players with vehicles are just picking you up to use you to run into cities for supplies they're low on or pick up everyone they see and take them to their (fake camps) line you up and shoot everyone they picked up (brother fell for that one) I ended up killing all of them the next day when they tried that trick again on my brother. 5. Other players have experienced this so they aren't likely to trust you either and will shoot at you on sight or run away and find a gun to shoot you. if you do happen to find someone that is "friendly" don't turn your back at them and keep eyes on them. They might just be waiting for you to look away while they aim for your head. Side note don't run up to an unarmed player, they can open your backpack and start taking stuff with out you knowing. I shoot on sight regardless of what they have

Dayz, fanboyz myths , and impact of hacking on the game [different approach]
SmashT replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Welcome to online multiplayer gaming. To be fair, DayZ has more "hackers" then any other game I have ever played and that's mainly because the ArmA engine is designed to allow scripting, a lot of that is what make ArmA great though. That being said, most of your conclusions are incredibly weaksauce. No vehicles on a server at all, must be hacking? What about that common bug where all vehicles will vanish on restart, then reappear on a later restart? Repaired a vehicle and the next day found it destroyed? Must be hacking, couldn't possibly be that another player simply found it and destroyed it, I mean it's not like players actually go looking for hidden vehicles or anything and fuck your hiding spot was so good. Spawn at an airfield wearing a ghille and are killed, must be hacking, because nobody ever camps airfields, and hell that ghille suit pretty much makes you invisible, not like anybody uses thermal either. Killed at night, must be hacking, not like there is a piece of equipment in the game to give you vision at night or anything. Since the introduction of the new BattlEye features last week, servers with competent admins can actually significantly reduce most of the hacking players experience each day, 100% of the obvious cheaters I have encountered since then (teleporting, spawning weapons, spawning vehicles, invincibility, parachuting cows, turning players into animals, players dancing etc) have shown up in the logs and they can be banned within minutes with active admins monitoring them, there are even rcon tools to parse the logs and automatically kick/ban when a cheater is logged. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/y7wf6/dayz_antihax_v01_a_very_simple_console/ Obviously things like esp/radar/aimbots are always going to be a problem, that's not an issue unique to DayZ though, nor are the majority of complaints about them. You offered no solutions regardless, so you cheated and risked a global ban to tell us something we already knew. I hope it was worth it. Cheating is a massive problem in DayZ, no doubt. The only conclusion I could draw from your post though was that you are the type of player who will always blame cheating for your own ineptitude. At least this gave me a laugh, ten meats you couldn't code shit. -
Death should really be the end.
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to schrapple's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes, you got killed and it should change EVERYTHING. DayZ is meant to be a sim and death should be PERMANENT. How can it be permanent if you spawn a new character and that new character "magically" knows right where to run to for the dead character's body or tent? In real life, you wouldn't know right where to run and re-gear, so it shouldn't be that way in this sim, either. My vote is if you die, then your tents and/or vehicles die with you. As for the gear on your dead body, it SHOULD be available for others to loot, but not you yourself. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
Freebird (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I have artifacting on my gaming laptop ATI 5870 (did a full format and multiple different ati driver tests to no avail), funny story thought it was my Video Card overheating Lol. Got home yesterday and have the same issue on my Desktop PC using a 6870. "Tried lowering all video settings to no avail." Not using Steam Version however everything is fully updated OA Betas and 1.7.2.5 on both rigs, artifacting seems less severe than 1.7.2.4 - never really noticed artifacting on 1.7.2.3 or prior. I apologize for being too chicken shit to get close enough to identify the objects causing such. Also I bought a server yesterday from HFB, can people confirm that tents and vehicles are still messed up? If so than thats quite bad timing no my part... harhar :P -
I've tried reverting my server to 1.7.2.4, however it did not help with saving vehicles. Seems that the problem is related to the hive.
-
Both the car and boat we logged out next to is now gone :( Saw an ATV underwater close to where the boat was before reset, whats happening? :P Is it normal for vehicles to disappear after restarts? EDIT: We found the car back at previous spawn point, it seems to have reset to the spot we initially found it.

Hi guys, not been playing long, but can totally get this post, just about everything I read says " Shoot first ask questions later " and in my opinion that is wrong. Ive had this twice in game now where the guy was probably ok, and I could have made a friend to play with, but because his gun was out and so was mine, shots were fired and people died. I like the OPs idea. In reality people would not shoot first, people would not have there gun out constantly, Ie: Eating, picking things up, in some cases running, Most people would put weapons away for these things, and that should be replicated in game. I think Dayz is awesome, it certainly needs some fine tuning here and there, but its a great sandbox game. Personally id like to see a few working vehicles now and again, I know its the Apocalypse, but Zombies wouldnt eat cars / bikes, and people would not have destroyed all of them...
