Wanna have fun? Forget going up north to get all those awesome weapons and vehicles. The former will go away when you get killed and the latter won't stick around for long with all the bugs and hackers going around. If you want to have FUN, either as a survivor or a bandit, stay near the starting areas. You are more likely to run into other people there. If you want to cooperate, then it's the best place to make friends, and if you want to be just like the rest and kill indiscriminately, that's faster than sniping some hill up north and you may even come upon gear it'd take hours to find. Just my suggestion.

I've been playing on Atlanta Chernarus Server, it's fucking awesome. Vehicle spawns are on high, and it's one hundred slot. It's one of the most realistic servers, due to its large amount of vehicles, and players. It is almost always full, and has extreme lag, however the admins readily ban anyone who uses VON over side, hackers, and loggers. It is pretty fun.

Epic Non Hive Banditry
Jorm (DayZ) replied to arma2eraseditself's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So Friday night, my friend Garrett and I have an epic night of crash sites. Steal a URAL, hit the airfield etc... We decide lets look for helicopters! We drive along the mountains aimlessly and eventually spot a couple of cars in the distance! We drive up, start looking at the gear and... BAM BAM, oh crap it isn't empty. (we are dumb) Needless to say we die and lose the UAZ. I'm pissed, we got greedy and dumb. I run into a bike on my trek North to the URAL and think. You know what, I'm going to go looking for my UAZ. I spend the next 6 hours searching and just about give up. I hear a vehicle in the distance as I'm staring at my map, oh crap! I think I'm spotted and run off. I log in the next morning and decide to check the area I think it was going, JACKPOT! Cars and guns galore!!! I quickly load a small green car up with stuff and take off back to camp and log off happy. I later decide, hmmm I wonder if that was the same group and I didn't search hard enough for my UAZ, I should go look! Log on, it's pitch effing black. Screw it, I don't have a compass but I'm a blood hound I can figure this out. I go running in the general direction, wedge a penny in my keyboard and hope. I eventually find the general area, I break out the flashlight and pray. Eventually, I give up and use some flares I had found earlier. I search for about 15 minutes and find a tractor... I wander the area for 5 or more minutes and... UAZ! I'm thrilled at this point, I grab it and go. I drive for a couple of minutes and decide, I'd rather fuel it up here than run out later. After adding some gas, I save it. I drive off to my camp again high on life. I get to the area of my camp and start looking in this pitch black soup for my URAL, BAM RESET. I spend the next 15 minutes stumbling around looking for my UAZ, nothing. A little voice inside reminds me I refueled the UAZ and saved somewhere in the fields around the damn. If I can find their camp in pitch black I can run into my UAZ again. More penny wedged running, search for 30 minutes bingo. Get it back to camp and I'm thinking I'm the shizzz. I'm super hyped but paranoid. I log in periodically to look at my spoils of war and they are good. Then, my heart sinks. Everything is gone, vanished. Hedgehogs intact. I run around, see that my stupid blue van is still intact and think well crap I better go hide this. Knowing I haven't repaired it much, I try and be careful. This thing has already killed me once when I tapped a tree at 2 mph. I'm driving, searching for a place to hide and... tree. I fall out die. FML About to quit the game and say screw it I decide I should at least run to my body and recover my gear. I run for another 30 minutes and get back in the area, hit up the bus we left out somewhere else and it's tires are shot out and a tree seems to be knocked over. I find an M14 AIM and decide to head to my body. I hear the flies and see the two M4's and some ammo I was holding for friends but no AS50 or ghillie. Thinking it only saved the items in my backpack I decide to transfer them back to the bus. I drop the M14 and start carrying back the guns. I'm going back for the M14 when I catch movement out of the corner of my eyes... I'm close to the M14 now, I could probably run for it. No, I'm going to see if this is the group I took the car from (and UAZ I'll call mine). I run up to him he shouts "Don't move", I decide to at least duck behind a tree. He walks up and says, let me check yout backpack. Not having many options, I stand there stupid. He says "What's your name bud". I say, "Are you the guys we've been trading vehicles with?". He replies "I'm the guy that blew up your vehicles". POP POP POP As I lay dead I respond with the only thought that came to mind, "Oh, ok...." I prompty log off and go to bed. Eff this game. Glad I could make someones day, I appreciate a good case of Schadenfreude. My question, why in the heck would you take that stupid green car over a URAL or UAZ?!?! Oh and apparently I'm an addict, my bad night ended with me still logging on looking for beans when I woke up. Man I'm stupid. -
I'm with the OP on the this. There should be a higher chance of vehicle spawns and remove the server limit. I'd make it about 55% chance of a vehicle NOT spawning at it's point and a .01% the vehicle is fully functioning. Just raising the rate of broken vehicles will keep it tough for players to use them, but have them more frequent so more players have a better chance of seeing them. I've been spending a lot of time in the game these days, and I've never found a repairable vehicle outside of a few run-ins with hackers spicing up the server I'm on. Considering how competitive players are for resources, players will take care of the scarcity of vehicles. Also, players aren't normally wide-spread enough to ever find all the vehicles the current server limit allows. Might as well give player a better chance to find them and learn to appreciate them. Also, I think bikes should be much more common, especially in cities. To compensate, zombies should still spawn where a bicycle rider goes, but let zombies be able to knock players off bikes. I wouldn't have it do terrible damage (some multiplier based on traveling speed and surface hit), but there is a chance you get knocked unconscious, break a bone, get a sprain, start bleeding, or any combination of the afformentioned (also have the chance based on speed and surface landing on).

Hello dayz community, We were playing me and 2 other friends on the server DK11 around 1 and 5am (Gmt +1) and we notice a flying helicopter above electro that crashes close to the city like 10min later and 2 other players (jordan and if i remember well the team tag [ASS]Alpha) disconnect immediately. We assume they failed to drive it and ragequit the game (there were only the 5 of us on the server) and we proceed to go to cherno. When we get to the city we noticed that the 2 same players jordan and alpha recconect, and like 5min later they are above us in another helico. We run away of the city with our vehicles and hide in the forrest. The helicopter then passed so close to our position that if it was daylight they would have easily saw us. We waited there for 5min and disconneted. The fact that they crashed an helicopter , diconnected, reconnected later, got a brand new heli just few minutes after that and knew exactly where we were led us to think that these 2 people are hackers because it really seems highly unlikely that a totally functional and full of fuel helicopter appears like magic near their spawn point. Thanks for considering this message.

How can you even call this a game?
Dereck541 replied to HamTheBacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can hook ya up with some good shit if u need some military items. I play by myself and raid others tents and vehicle's. Its actually fun to do when your bored. I currently have every gun in the game right now by doing this tactic. Just pick a server that you know the tents and vehicle are spawning in. Some server restarts erases all of the tents and vehicles till the next server restart. All u need is a map and maybe compass and just head out to the edge of the map and start looking for the tent cities. You'll find them. Trust me. Found 2 vehicle camps last night and one of the best weapon loot tent cities I've ever seen. Im set for life in this game when it comes to looting. Found a ton of hacked guns too. Just have to be prepared to run for hours till u really hit a jackpot -
Actually I recall the reason being the public hive server you had all your vehicles on crashed and wiped everything. I just found it funny that it took you four hours to realize there was an infiltrator in your group, considering he was communicating with you over DayZ and Teamspeak AND killing you simultaneously. L2identifyvoices lul.

I play on a server, or used to, and now whenever I join, the admins on kick me and tell me to get lost? Is that server report(able)? I dont think it's "Fair" as I've helped the admins make a good % of the vehicles on their server, and all my gear is in a tent at their base.. Could I post a video of this and would something be done or a waste of time?

Story time! :) If anyone finds stories interesting. If not, don't bother reading! My crew and I have been playing DayZ for a few weeks and finally settled down on a server (which will probably be changing soon due to school, work etc.). We aren't really a clan, just a bunch of people who have been gaming together and friends. We found a Ural on this server and spent a few hours repairing it, and because of that Ural we acquired a pretty hefty armoury of AS50s, DMRs, L85s, FN-FALs and the like. We had the Ural for about two weeks and thought "Wow, we've had this thing way longer than we thought we would," and were pretty much just counting down the days until we lost it. And the other day, we did... But it wasn't lost in the middle of the night to some random people stumbling upon it, but only after wiping out an entire clan singlehandedly and forcing them into multiple rage quits and all night searches! Definitely a fine way to lose it, I must say. We hadn't gotten into many scrimmages with legitimate players, usually only getting into battles with people who teleport back to their body immediately after dying, fully geared over and over again or being teleported into a field of bear traps surrounded by snipers (who, if you were wondering, we still killed). We wanted to taste some blood. The Red Sedan We were driving down the road in the Ural, blowing up people's vehicles and running over tents; raiding cities and stocking up on medical supplies. We had heard a chopper overhead a while before, but that's why we had one man carrying an AS50. We are getting bored of the endless driving and decide to head towards camp and call it a night - when not two minutes later a red sedan pulls towards us. We steer into them and they narrowly avoid us, one man ejecting and opening fire on our Ural. While our driver was slowing to turn around I hopped out with my Kobra on semi and plugged a few rounds into the gunman's chest. I took aim at the windows and fired in at the passengers and driver. Blood began to fountain out of the roof and the car came to a halt. A tractor begins pulling up behind the fray and I take fire on them as well. At this point the people in our Ural begin getting out and firing on the tractor. He falls from the tractor, passed out. We thought he was dead - when suddenly, like Bilbo Baggins he disappears. Only one body is left after 5 names appearing in the bottom left and I have only one murder to my name. Laughing and cheering, we loot the bodies and decide to take the other vehicles for a spin. Hell Town But the story doesn't end there. Suddenly, the driver of the red sedan teleports forward due to lag and appears inside a blown up car - catching fire. She hops out and runs, but winds up bloody and broken. Ten zombies appear. Then twenty. Thirty. Suddenly we're surrounded by easily fifty zombies with one girl unconscious and bleeding out. Our sniper bandages her while me and the driver provide cover fire. He drags her body to the Ural and loads her in while I give them both blood transfusions, being covered by our driver. I run up and watch as my kill count has increased by ~80. Our driver hops in the tractor, hoping to bring it out while we drive the Ural out of dodge...... Boom. The tractor explodes. We rush back with even more zombies pouring in around us, our patient still unconscious in the back of the Ural. He throws his backpack into the truck and runs to take all of our driver's gear. We're surrounded again and by this point I've already had to stock up my inventory with ammo from the truck twice. I'm down 23 AK magazines and 11 G17 mags and running back to the truck, down to 5000 blood. We hop in and drive off to safety to rearm and heal. A Long Drive Home We were still about 9km away from our camp. We were down to three while our fourth was off trying to gear up in Cherno and make his way back out to us. We took the main highway and headed north east. I wasn't sure because of how loud the Ural is, but I thought I heard the helicopter again. "... but there's no way. It's only us and them on the server and they all JUST died - unless they've got the chopper down along the coast." *puff puff puff puff puff puff* Dirt all around us starts flying as bullets barrage the ground. A helicopter is overhead. I take a hard right into a field and go under the trees for cover. "LET ME OUT" our sniper yells. I slow down, he jumps out and takes fire on the chopper. I drove across the field, swerving from bullets. We get hit and our fifth (who is quite new and hasn't been largely participating this whole time) gets shot through the Ural and breaks his legs. Contact. The chopper is smoking and spinning out of control, but they manage to safely escape us. We heal up, regroup and make our way uninterrupted back to camp. We find 20-30 tents on the way and destroy them all. We get back, knowing that we're going to lose our Ural tonight. We're being stalked by people with a chopper. We decided to park the Ural pretty far away from camp. It was 9AM. We were tired. A Few Hours Later Well we woke up and tired, our sniper, our third and I log in and to our amazement, our camp is still there - but on the map where our truck was is about 7 markers cursing us out, calling us hackers and saying they found our Ural. THAT made it all so much better :) The butthurt was strong in them. It's pitch black when we logged in and we rearmed. Suddenly, a chopper overhead. They saw us on the map. We took cover and rearmed. I replaced my Kobra with an L85, Rachel her AK with an L85. Our sniper fired a few rounds to get their attention and we heard the engine shut off. It started up again - we suspected there were people on foot. Sure enough, fully automatic shots fired and with a .50 cal fire, they end. A few minutes pass and above us we hear the chopper, very close. After about 20 minutes, *bang bang bang bang* Our sniper takes fire. "_________ was killed" And we never saw that helicopter again. Later that day, we logged on and noticed our camps were gone. Even the pretty far away ones were gone. All In All It was pretty fun. I killed an entire clan single handedly with an AK. I went through 30+ mags while we took out a seemingly endless zombie horde. We destroyed what was probably a duper's camp. We evaded a chopper and almost took it out with a sniper. We almost took out a chopper - again. All with the only casualty being a guy blowing up in a tractor because a car blew up after lagging forward. We lost our camp; We lost our Ural; But in the end we weren't the ones who were raging. Rule #1: Don't get attached to your gear.

Greetings, I would like to share something that I found yesterday whilst playing DayZ. If someone has found this before and discussed it on the forums, apologies for opening a new thread, I did not manage to find any related ones. -------------------------- Last night I joined a random server and as I was just walking around and trying to survive as usual and I came across something very... strange. I saw 2 trucks and 3 cars packed near this pile of crates. After making sure no one else was around, I checked all the vehicles and they were all in working conditions. However, when I checked the crates.... I could see pretty much every weapon in the game, all the ammo, food, drink, skins etc etc... pretty much EVERYTHING x 200. So yeah, I got me a nice looking weapon and some other stuff, grabbed a car a got the hell out of there. I wanted to know what was that ? Is it a hack that the server admin is doing or a random type of drop that happens every now and then or what..... I figured its a hack as later the admin of the server kept kicking everyone from it and these crates later disappeared, but I wanted to check with the community. Anyways, Regards

How do so many ppl have snipers and top guns?
Reece (DayZ) replied to TheMove's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
By repairing a vehicle, and driving around tent hunting... End up finding everything, even more vehicles hidden. Servers need to be reset when duping/hacking is fixed. I've found plenty of legit weapons, in tree stands (M107's). I've seen at least 4-5 crashed helis in the 2 weeks I've played and I haven't found an AS50, but I've killed tons of people using them. I've never found rangefinders or entrenching tools, but I've kill people with them. Most of the loot I find is in tents, and I'll grab peoples shit and stick it in my vehicle and disperse between my group and wreck havoc. You shouldn't be able to play for less than an hour and have all this... (this was today btw) http://i.imgur.com/kYq31.jpg -
Hackers can locate bases/tents/vehicles using ESP hacks, most likely they have gone to your base and messed it up, i may be wrong though and it may be alright.

We caught a scripter trying to run the seagull script, and his 2 buddies were also constantly dropping off the server and reconnecting. We banned the seagull scripter and here is the log from the createvehicle log His other 2 "clanmates" were also banned for constant losing connection and reconnecting at the same time, also alt-f4ing We also retroactively banned 2 players based on evidence from remoteexec logs for attempting to spawn vehicles on the server.

Base building in Standalone.
crockett (DayZ) replied to lazyorc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think as others mentioned variety will be the key to success with bases. If I want a basic semi secure hideaway in a temporary home base it should be quick to set up and give me a place I can stash supplies for a short stay in an area. Like if I want to go sluming down to Cherno or Elektro.. I should be able to dig in a quick somewhat hidden place to stash my loots. On other hand if I want a more secure base out in the woods to hold my high end or the bulk of my supplies I should be able to build something like this as well as a solo player or even joint build with a friend or two and have it be very hard to find. Meanwhile if a larger group thinks they can hold down a fortress of some sort inside a town or on top of a mountain ect..ect then they should be-able to build something to their liking as well. The biggest key would be having a reasonable amount of associated risk to go with the location/size. If I had some apartment or building fortress inside a city or a large encampment for vehicles or a heli then it should be at much higher risk of being taken over or destroyed vs something in an out of the way place in the woods. The problem with the current set up with tents in DayZ is they are just too easy for others to find & steal/destroy all your stuff. It's almost like I have to start over every few days because someone found my tent and took everything or stole it. -
No vehicles spawning on new server.
ChernoPTA replied to DarkEnergy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Our server has an instance ID above 8000, vehicles spawn, but on every server reset they all respawn back at their original points unrepaired. Also tents are not saving their inventories accurately either. Its not making the server very fun for our players. -
For the record, 'douchebags' don't gather all the loot and hide it from everyone else. You seem to have a very odd idea of how the game mechanics work. Loot respawns. They can't possibly 'hide it from everyone else' unless they're on a certain server 24 hours a day, continiously emptying entire cities. The only thing they can hide is vehicles.

No vehicles spawning on new server.
SixZoSeven replied to DarkEnergy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
My friends server, US 280, does not have any vehicles spawning. This is a new server and just started running about 16 hours ago. Any ideas as to why no vehicles are spawning? -
I had everything. Coyote backpack, L85A2, M24, vehicles, NVGs, Rangefinder...everything. So did my group. I was riding on my motorcycle [amazing vehicle, really], picking up a friend and taking new spawns to where they want to go on the coast. Until I was insta-killed. I went back to my body five minutes later and everything was looted. I was really dissapointed. And then the server was shutdown due to hackers. Upon the server coming back up...all of our vehicles were gone. All of our high-end, high value vehicles were gone. We have nothing. One of my group members, DesolateChris, has his stuff still. SVD Camo and M4A3 CCO [i think, might be a different variation]. ATLAAS and myself have nothing. So we decided to head to Cherno and Elektro and gear up like the good old times; gear up how gear should be acquired. ATLAAS helped players and killed murderers. I did the same. We went on ANZ 1/2/3 servers--the max pop servers to do all of this. It was a shittload of fun. Him and myself grouped up near the apartments in Cherno and looted them. A sniper was sitting ontop of the high place sniping him. ATLAAS died, unfortunately, but I did not. I avenged my friends's death and killed his killer. Acquired a DMR and some food, etc. Although, the DMR has no ammo, but that's fine. It's time to group up with the rest of my group and do what we haven't done in a long time. This is where the fun is.

US 9 & US 10 Chicago | RageCageGaming.com - Server Donations & Discussion
Nichols replied to howichrgelazer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes the group I run with has had several vehicles on US 9 and US 10; however those same vehicles tend to disappear or move around a bit on server restarts. -
Many, many servers are plagued with major cities FULL of abandoned wire fencing. When I started playing, I thought it was a cool idea, but it got to a point where I was getting denied access to the better part of crucial survival areas in major cities by people that aren't even logged in. Duping and scripting add to the problem, but that is another topic. I seem to have a very difficult time finding a toolbox, and I think I may have found more GPS's than I have toolboxes, yet I tend to find fencing kits rather consistently. It wouldn't be so terrible if only newer spawns and undergeared people had issues with fencing, but even when I find myself geared to the teeth, I rarely have a toolbox when playing solo. With the tents and vehicles being terribly unreliable for saving gear, populated servers seem to be restarted less and less, and unmanned fencing can quickly become an epidemic on a server. I rarely, if ever, see entrenching tools and sandbags, so they have yet to prove themselves as a problem. Tank and bear traps are a different story though. They are small, require tactical use, but can be a pain to find. Rarely will 1 tank trap or 1 bear trap shut down an entire area of a high traffic building, but when used correctly, can give a massive tactical advantage against player and zombie alike. Tank traps are excellent for funneling traffic around and inside buildings, and bear traps serve as a great tool for covering your back inside buildings. Neither are easily spammed to make an area impassible, yet can still give a massive advantage to a player that uses them wisely. The only way I can envision to fix the issue without changing realism or immersion is to tweak the rarity of the items. Keep the toolbox and entrenching tool relatively rare, but drop the rarity of wire kits down to that of sandbags. In turn, crank up the commonality of bear traps to that of tank traps. Players will find them more often, use them more often, and learn that they are ineffective if used incorrectly. Before you knock the idea of more bear traps, at this stage, they are pretty unreliable. Honestly, wire fences are more efficient at breaking a players legs, lol. TL:DR: Make wire fencing as rare as sandbags. Make bear traps as common as tank traps. It will reduce fence spamming and encourage tactical equipment usage without effecting immersion.

tents and vehicles saved before the patch right? So how would they know about the issue before we tell them? Something broke wow, they'll fix it. It's in alpha, this shit will happen man.
-
So? Best time to loot the air fields/find vehicles.

Humanity + Inventory glitches + Skin changes
Rono replied to Mastiff (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I appreciate that they plopped this onto six updater now basically forcing all the servers I play on to update to this broken patch. Running at night with a glowstick, switches from bandit to survivor, lose the light, can't pick up another until I relog. Upon doing that, my body is duped and I can loot a copy of every thing, so that's cool that the game is exploiting for me. Also, this shitty hotfix was supposed to fix like 4 things, and it fucked up every single one; Ammo still refreshes on logout, artifacts are generally worse rather than fucking GONE, and the humanity thing is obviously broken. On top of everything, tents and vehicles don't save. Good thing I had plenty set up before the servers updated, now not only do they STILL DUPE MY GEAR when I run into cherno solo and die, but with 1.7.2.5 I don't even need to worry that someone will empty them and save them, cause the save is broken. -
How about fixing the issue with vehicles and tents not saving items and vehicles totally disappearing after restart. Never mind all your suggestions for adding things, getting the stuff thats already in the game working properly might be a good direction to start with.
-
Hi I play with my friends quite frequently on this 1.7.2.4 server and we found many vehicles and a chopper which we filled up with weapons and gear that we looted. We then hid them in a forest and saved all of them, however when we returned today after several restarts, all the vehicles are gone and the few tents that we set up was empty. This also happened on the same server several times before. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the server ID?
