Vehicles & Tents not saving on 1.7.2.4
lukepker replied to LemonGrapist's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I'm getting the same thing mate, on 1.7.2.5 servers aswell, wish Rocket would fix the tents/vehicles database, game is pretty much unplayable at the moment, me and my squad will spend an entire day repairing a chopper/gathering loot and setting up a camp, only for it to be removed after a restart, its horseshit. What server are you on by the way? -
taking down a helicopter at night in a humvee
NoRegrets replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
no im not .. i actually enjoy playing on private hive server ... side chat on ... its fun ... whenever i feel like i want to run around at the coast again because im bored rolling on the floor in the camp , waiting for people to play with ... but i constantly find vehicles all over the place or 3 or 4 douchebags obviously running the server flying around in a chopper ... sometimes there are multiple choppers on the server and ive read here in the forums that some people even sell vehicles for a donation ... play on a private hive server but i simply dont like videos of people taking down a chopper out of a humvee since this has nothing to do with what people normally do in DayZ ... also this: -
AS50/M107 used against light armored infantry?
Darkwater (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not claiming to be any kind of knowleable about military grade weapons, nor weapons in general, but aren't these weapons designed to be used on Military equipment, like armored vehicles or the likes? Don't get me wrong here, the fact that they one shot kill is more than alright, as the fact of the matter is that the poor sod being hit by one would very likely lose a limb if they were unfortunate enough to survive this, and being a cripple like that in a zombie apocalypse would more than likely spell death, but to use it against a running person just seems over the top. They seem to have been designed for large moving or stationary targets, and the usage of such weapons are mostly done in teams, due to heavy weight and the lack of mobility of the weapon. It's DEFINATELY not meant to fire from anything other than a proned position either, yet they are fired from crouched all the time. Not to mention their sheer size! If you had one of them, you simply shouldn't be able to carry more than one side arm at best. All I'm saying is this; If these weapons are in game, there should be some cons to them aswell, as they per now are extremly powerful, extremly accurate, seemingly extremely easily supplied with ammo, all around extreme, really. This game/mod has taken inspiration from EvE Online in some aspects, most notably the brutal punishment of death, but it should also take atleast some from it's weapon aspects aswell; HUGE weapons are less accurate and require either their target to be big or stationary. Or atleast some kind of reprecussion for using them? They are loud aren't they? Make it so that they hurt the ears to fire.. you've done that with explosions, why not a weapon like those? Make it harder to aim, they are afterall massive. At the very least, they require some form of nerf, just not to their damage.- 83 replies

The Bicycle is the god of all vehicles. Nothing is more superior than the Bicycle. It's so god-like it deserves to be a proper noun. It's silent, but deadly. Reaching an average of 50k's per hour on road and up to 100k's maximum, this is something the world has never seen. Do not underestimate the power of the bicycle. OKAY?! Making a Squad to begin the work on a dream of survival
Othra replied to Othra's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Our squad is now usually five members with an extra pair of two every so often. We have been consistently raiding Stary Sobor and up and down the Northern and Southern middle of the map for various vehicle parts and small vehicles (UAZ, GAZ, Pickup). We seem to consistent with Marksmen (accurate AR) and snipers (AS50, M107) and are really only lacking at this point probably Heavy Weapons as well as Spec Ops (silenced) and Explosives Tech. It is important that you know of using DayZDB is one of our best strategies for survival and knowledge of the map. -
Looking for fellow noobs to play with
Othra replied to Smart (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am always looking for new squad members. I am in the process of banding together a small but well armed squadron with the intention of gaining multiple vehicles (between 3-5) and then loading said vehicles up with scavenged defense barriers and traps and putting together a well made base on a healthy server (have been hopping frequently due to hackers) and could always use a couple good reliable people. We have flexible roles just based on what you prefer to use and where you prefer to be in terms of combat. If you become interested feel free to add me on Skype AND Steam (We use Skype frequently) Skype: euphoric.night Steam: Kaos0704 -
I am always looking for squad members, and we have quite a few (between 5-7) daily squad mates constantly scavenging for vehicles, fixing, and mobilizing to create a base on a healthy server. I am going to be recruiting until I've found maybe 8-10 well reliable people that I will work to keep geared, defended, and will require help as well with the construction of a base. skype: euphoric.night steam: Kaos0704

I have been playing DayZ a lot recently and dreaming up some ideas. I know a lot of you are VERY turned off by the thought of a no bandit DayZ because it is a core game play mechanic, but I would like you to keep an open mind for this one. Don't get me wrong, I love the bandit aspect of DayZ, but I think it would be cool to try out a all-survivor server. However there is one big flaw with this idea... Imagine if people did not, or could not, kill each other in DayZ anymore. What would they do? Explore? Get the best guns and vehicles? Stop playing? Most would probably do the latter. But for those who did stay, they would probably go out and explore every inch of Chernarus with a few random strangers. It would be entertaining and cool, but for how long? At some point, you would do every thing you have wanted to do. You will have flown the Helicopter back and forth of Chernarus. You will have conquered that castle in the middle of nowhere and made it your stronghold. You will have found those 15 Sachel Charges and used them all at once on one building just to see what happens. But then what? With DayZ in its current form, we are all way to concerned with survival to think about anything else. But what if we were to take away that element of fear and add it with a new element of hope or determination? My thoughts are on this: A common goal all players on a server work to achieve. Something large and not easily done in a few days of work. However at this point... I became stumped. The only real idea I had which would work somewhat interesting would be players working to take back Chernarus, City by city, castle by castle. Some could go out to farther north to harder areas (Such as the air force base) to collect more rare loot, while other smaller groups go and try to weaken a nearby city's zombie count. And maybe at night a server could have to deal with excess zombies who are more easily agitated. This would make players have to decide "Should we bunker down in our place with no lights and hope we are not found? Or should we cover our place in lights and hope we do not get swarmed by an amount we can not handle?". This is just a thought I had. Obviously some things would still need to be thought out more (The whole random players joining any server, night and day cycles, etc...).However I think if we went away from the horrible "kill or be killed" theme and to a more positive "All for one and one for all" idea, some interesting things could happen. I apologize if this might be hard to read, I know if i put more work I could make this post more fancy with hidden spoiler boxes and what not. It would probably come across better, but I do not have that much time or focus. But what do you guys think? Does the idea of a server of just survivors sound good at all? And if so what common goal could these people strive towards?

Vehicles dissapearing after Hive issues?
Ped replied to thefishstick's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We had vehicles disappear and some became other vehicles. Myself and a mate spent the day fixing up a UAZ. (6 glass windows...really?) only to drive it to our hiding spot before the server reset. After the reset the UAZ turned into the Offroad White Truck. Which I had hidden elsewhere. When the UAZ transformed into the Offroad Truck, I lost a shit ton of gear because the gear was reset to what it was when I had found it. NOT what was in there when I parked and saved it. Frustrating. -
Streamer? NONONO! MY steam is DimonatorZ. I dont stream lol. Im geared and need a clan to get vehicles with :)

DAY Z SQUAD TEAM. ME AND MY FRIEND ARE RECRUITING NOW FOR THE NEXT WEEK. Our aim: Our aim of creating this group/clan is to make the game more enjoyable for I and many others playing with us. At the moment I believe there is not much point playing by yourself as you seem to live for about 1 hour due to lack of protection from hackers, so I believe this would be a good idea and starting point to prevent people from hacking themselves. What players we are looking for. - We are currently recruiting any kind of play style. Willing to recruit anyone from a survivor to bandit to noob. - We need someone who's willing to play often and help out the team when needed. - Don't need a dick who is just joining to kill us all. - We also want people who are out going to talk to, so we can chat on skype without arguments. - We need someone who is willing to kill intruders or to put someone into order. - Our team would like to have a few pros so the people who are noob can be helped out. What we are going to do as a team/squad. - Going to go on a range of missions with lots of travelling. - Go on raids through main cities, the country side, bases and the airfields/airstrips. - Search for vehicles. - Search for HELIS - Help out noobs. Where can you contact me? You can contact me on here just personal message me or post your skype name on the post so I can add you and have a chat to you as soon as possible. Skype name: sean.gauci -
They should really fix tents/vehicles not saving correctly before anything else.
-
I played on 4 or 5 different .5 servers, repaired numerous vehicles, and stuffed tents full of gear, but after each restart, vehicles reverted back to their positions they were in in .4, and vehicle inventories reverted back to what they were in .4. Artifacts are manageable; just go back and forth from windowed mode to fullscreen to fix it, but having all in-game progress deleted after each restart isn't.

As of now me and my friend will be recruiting new members into our Day Z team. My Aim: My real aim for creating this team is to exclude hackers from the game and to try and shift focuses for some who believe the game is losing to hackers. I want to re assure people that the game is a lot better with a team. What players we are looking for. - Any hardcore player, bandit or just normal survivor can join - Will only be recruiting you if you are willing to kill any intruders or other survivors - Need American, Australian and NZ players. But willing to make spots for others. - Up to 10 players who are experienced enough to help out a few noobs. - A person that is okay with playing later at night. - Easy going and prepared to have fun and be serious. What will we be doing? - A series of missions, really whatever the team wants to do and there will be a few selected leaders who are very experienced. - Raiding main citites, camps and the airstrips/airfields. - Creating our own camp as well. - And we will be on the hunt for any vehicles, including helicopters. How to contact me or my team mates? Firstly contact me on skype. Don't stress team speak is coming soon. sean.gauci

As tempting as it is to have a streamer in the clan, it's a huge risk, for us and for our vehicles/camp

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
The_Weasel replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Any news on the tents/vehicles issues with this patch? Really surprised to see it went official, we rolled back less than 6 hours of trying it. We won't apply it again until the vehicle saving is fixed. We don't particularly want to be playing a game where all progress is rolled back every server reset. If I have missed a thread addressing this, then apologies, but is this been looked into? I have not seen a response from the dev team in any of the relevant threads. Rocket can you give us some info on this please? -
Would like to try out Arma, now that I bought it - where to start?
grezvany13 replied to Fector's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
About the ACE mod; yes, it's by far the best mod ever made for ArmA2 and should be used by everyone. However, due the chances it makes it also makes the game a lot harder. For example I play ArmA2 with some friends now at our own (home)server and I suggested to use ACE to make it better. Within 2 hours everyone begged me to return to vanilla because it was too hard :D - it adds even more keybinds to remember - you have to watch which gear you carry, otherwise it's too heavy - AI is improved (better and harder) - aim and fire doesn't work, you have to calculate distance, height difference and wind when you fire a weapon - teamwork is required, otherwise you won't make it at all Here's my order of learning ArmA2 to the fullest: 1) complete the SP training missions (learn the game) 2) complete the SP campaigns (experience the game) 3) play around the Armory to use other weapons and vehicles 4) play around with the Editor to master the vehicles (especially choppers!) 5) play some MP domination (learn teamwork) 5a) play some other MP gamemodes 6) download and mess with some mods (extra weapons, vehicles, etc) 7) download and play some COOP missions with friends (armoholic.com is your best friend) 8) install ACE and go back to point 3... If you noticed you really like ArmA2 (which you'll know when you hit point 6), try to find a clan or community so you'll meet players with more experience. They're happy to help you to go further and even teach you some things you've missed by playing "alone". And don't be afraid to go back to the Editor and train how to fly or drive a vehicle, because everybody will like you when they see you know what you're doing and you'll enjoy it even more when you saved the lifes of your teammates. The default COOP missions (as in SP mission) are terrible. I suggest, when you're ready for it, to download some custom COOP mission or even COOP campaigns which are designed for it. They're a bit harder, but much more fun and usually without the bugs. -
The Outlaws DayZ Clan Now recruiting! We are a clan that adheres to military style tactics and discipline We currently recruiting new members to The Outlaws, our goal is to have a fully functioning unit comprising of x4 squads of x5 men in each conforming to our squad structure (see our clan forums). Here is a breakdown of each squad: ALPHA - TASK FORCE ONE This is The Outlaws primary unit, Alpha will be the spearhead squad in the field. Their job is to seek and track survivor bandit terror cells and their camps, neutralise the enemy at all costs and destroying of their equipment and supplies. Anything that could be of use to The Outlaws should be commandeered. BRAVO - TASK FORCE TWO If you fancy yourself as a bit of a hero this is the unit for you. Bravo is The Outlaws supporting unit, you will sweep along side other squads preventing enemies from flanking during their key objectives. You will be called upon by other squads as backup and will be responsible for assisting and getting to the conflict ASAP! You will need good navigation and communication skills. You will be involved in most large or important missions. You will need to be handy with a weapon as you will find yourself being called to dangerous areas frequently and will need to be cautious whist getting to the conflict zone. CHARLIE - ENGINEERS Fancy yourself as a tactical driver? Maybe a even a pilot? Then Charlie is where it's at. Your primary missions will be to raid garages and hangers to gather as many vehicles for The Outlaws as possible. You will be responsible for dropping squads in to their area of operation and making sure your their for their safe extract after the mission. You will often be driving through 'hot' areas and will see a lot of action. You will also be called upon to take out other survivors vehicles so you will also need to gather explosives on your travels. DELTA - SILENT OPERATIONS It's time to get you sneaky beaky on! When large forces of enemy are holding our troops off it will be Deltas job to get in their un-detected whist other squads hold their attention. You will use ONLY silent weapons if you choose to join this squad. You will be a master of stealth and will have extreme patience waiting on stand by to move on a target. Night vision or thermal scopes will be advantageous as a lot of your primary missions will probably be assigned at night. If you would like to join our clan please visit our website and sign up today! FOR THE OUTLAWS! http://www.dayzoutlaws.enjin.com/

Vehicles disappeared (US2)
The_Weasel replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
We rolled back to 1.7.2.4 as a result of this, vehicles are fine. I'd rather avoid Starey Sober (Graphics glitch) then lose all my progress each server reset! -
1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.

I have also tried rolling back and so on, still wont save neither tents or vehicles. Some word from the Dev team about this would be nice....
