FR35 - strongly suspected admin abuse - msg to their admins
tiri replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Or maybe they can understand that we, as admin, don't have a magic power that allows us to see where the vehicles are. This is called hacking, or bug of the 1.7.2.5, and you can cry to Rocket if there is a problem about it. We have logs, which can allows to know what a player have, yes. And we do warn people against the use of illegal weapons because it is unbelievable how many players use one without caring or justifying with dumb reasons such as "it is a zombie apocalypse, I should have the best gear I can find", or even the "It is only fair against the hackers" (which is funny because if they want to harm you, you get a bomb on the head or get teleported to the thunderdrome, and you can't do anything). And now we got this, a guy who is angry because we laughed at him with his ridiculous accusations (again, read this thread, I'm gonna put the URL entirely so you can see it: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22386-admin-abuse-what-you-need-to-know/), threatening us (because it is, you are not a police officer, you're just one normal person saying to us: "you are going too fast, I'm gonna send you to jail") and launching two separates thread because he is paranoid we are after him. Instead, he stalks every post we have on this thread just to bother us. What can you do with that ? He is sure that we are against him, that we stole his helicopter, that, by warning people using illegal weapons, we are abusing (when we are instead trying to get the game fair for everyone), and he won't hear anything else. It is so depressing that we (well not me, but the other admins who were here more often) resort to trolling and gifs because they think there is no way to talk correctly with them. And they are right, as I'm painfully discovering it. -
This. I did read your post however, and still I say you should play on a private server. Sure there is an occasional hacker, but once they're banned from the private hive they're gone for good. And if you do by chance lose all your gear, you can get it back pretty quickly with the high amounts of vehicles on the server. So yeah.. play a private hive. I usually play on ZUST or Finders. Survival Ops is pretty intense too.

How is this possible? (no dump, no Alt+F4, + timer)
vacalouca posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi folks, i played on a server with these settings below and they really work, I read that many were not possible in the mod but I tested and proved they really are, the server was private, I will not post links, but I believe that many should know, my question is does not even have a way to implement this in the normal servers? SERVER MECHANICS! Our server isen't like every other server, and there are some things you need to know! First off, when you log off, no matter if you abort, ALT-F4 or pull your plug... Your character stays in the game for 30 seconds! Disconnecting from combat won't save you. Going out of bounds, that is leaving the map will result in your immediate, automagical death. It's quite easy to tell where the map ends, as there are no trees and no grass. Any vehicles or tents found outside the map borders will also be destroyed and relocated randomly upon server restart. Vehicles left unused for 7 days will be reset to their original condition. Sandbags, Wirefences and Tanktraps will be removed 7 days after their placement date. Tents left empty for 48 hours may get deleted without warning. . Auto Save to prevent duping itens. This really possible only on privates servers? -
DO NOT POST YOUR GLOBAL BAN APPEALS
num1bananas replied to rocket's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
With all the Battleye Global Bans that I have read in the last hour throughout the "Ban" section of this Dayz Forum I must say there is a disturbing trend developing. They can't all be legit bans... can they? I have been globaly banned for aprox. 10 days with no responce from Battleye. I read Battleye's web pages and listed here their rules when requesting a review of your ban. Below the rules I listed my conclusions. Understand when you accepted and installed Steam, Arma2 OA and Battleye there was a disclamer with each. It removed them from liability to you as a consumer what so ever. You also in the same breath alowed them to scan your hardware. I accept the premise that software like Battleye exists for a good reason. I could care less about hackers/hacking as such and don't have the time or knowledge to even bother. There's my disclaimer! I've owned Arma II OA for around a month. Battleye web page states; ********************************* ! IMPORTANT WARNING REGARDING GLOBAL BANS ! If you are globally banned, read the following rules before sending in a support request. If you don't follow these rules your request/e-mail will be ignored! Otherwise your individual case will be carefully investigated. No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity. Therefore all requests mentioning these things as possible reasons for the global ban are ignored. A shared or stolen cd-key is no excuse. It's your own responsibility to ensure that no one else has access to it. Include your exact (!) global ban ID. The ID is shown in your global ban message ("Global Ban #ID"). If you don't include it your request will be ignored. Do not tell stories. Whatever you are saying about yourself or your situation won't matter. The only thing that matters is the evidence that is gathered for every global ban issued. Do not ask for the evidence behind your ban. No details about it will be revealed. Hackers would love to have access to this information. Do not beg for mercy. If you cheated you will have to live with the consequences. Global bans are permanent and no exceptions will be made. Questions regarding how exactly to get unbanned will be ignored. No support will be given on how to buy a new game or change your cd-key. Again, if you don't follow these rules your request will be ignored! Note that you will not receive a response if the evidence clearly indicates that you or someone else using your cd-key cheated. It doesn't matter if you only cheated on your own private server. Cheating on BE-enabled servers is forbidden, period. ********************************* My simple interpretation... don't waste your time because your concidered to be wasting Battleye's. I did email them anyway but I don't expect a responce in the near future if at all ever. Now that I've been enlightened by this forum and Battleye the global ban placed on me you will find 1 less player on any Battleye protected server. It's sad because I'm in a Clan that's setting up a servers that I was concidering donating to. Clan integrity has always been #1 to me and our motto is hackers beware. So not only has Battleye labled me a global hacker but also localy within my personal community. I'm happy to note that my Clan Buddies support me and are questioning Battleye ruling while waiting for a response from them like myself. I won't say which Clan because of possible GLOBAL repercussion's. On a side note; What I can't figure out is that I don't mind being killed by users or zombies but when servers screw up by spawn killing into the debug and wiping your items etc. is to much and I allmost quit the game for good. Too many updates etc. I paid for this? I can see now why Dayz forums want to stay away from Battleye global bans and the pages and pages that follow them. I'd also like to point out that anybody here telling me and so many others that we're "#%&en hackers" and "deserve what we get" is sadly misinformed. I hope the above info helps to enlighten those in desparate need of Battleye's reminder that they're conditions (rules) are so obviously one sided when one is questioning and requesting to overturn their ban. How many globaly banned players have bought new Keys? If I buy another key to play which software manufaturer am I supporting? 1... 2 or all 3? In trying to be pragmatic I can't help myself and must LOL. It's only a game to me and I certainly won't let Battleye get under my skin. If it wasn't so ridiculous it would be sad. I think the saddest part is I won't be playing with my Fellow Clan members any time soon on the new Arma 2 OA server. Sorry Guys, no more waterboy! LOL  -
I set out with one goal: to raid the legendary north west airfield, obtain the precious lootz, and donate them to new players back on the beach. The rules: under no circumstances would I harm another player, no vehicles, use only the first weapon I find, kill every zombie I encounter. Now, after battling, griefers, hackers, and a broken leg I find myself trapped on a rooftop somewhere in Cherno, Bandits surround me, Zombies smell me, and I only have 70 blood. Is there anyone out there who could donate me a blood bag? One day I shall repay you... unless I can't find you or I forget.

Hey DayZ Fans, since 2 weeks we are playing on the Server LU224, we`ve repaired some spawnd cars and found the Server-Heli. Also we shot some highranked Players , including players named SLJ, Beast(the admin), Winman, Sonja, found out that the players belongs together. We also saw that the named players where shot by other players too. It where fair kills. We saw they fleeing into a barrack in the NW-Airfield. I put a satchel on the barracks and the named players died after the explosion. Some times later a spontan server restart apears. Ok, we logged out, saved the cars. After coming in again our Heli wasnt here anymore. But, for our luck, it appears where we saved it before. We where flying again to another camp where we found tractors, motorcycles, bikes. But that camp wasnt from the hackers. When we arrived at the camp with the Heli, all the players (not including the hacker) and vehicles where ported to the East of Balotta. Our flying Heli crashed on that vehicle location, because it was flying before the hackattack started, I (the Pilot) died, another player died after the crash. One Friend survived after the crash and saw the other players of the server who where teleported sitting in their cars. I dont know exactly who the hacker was. But we think that it belongs to named players before. They have no honour. After shotten down they didnt have the ability to kill us or the other players in a regulary way ant they used the Teleport Hack to have all their cars back. Why are players doing that? No Life, perhaps they are small children, I dont know. Its just a game. For a quick revenge they can play Call of Duty. 2 Days Later (today) i logged on again. After logging in my legs where (sandclock) broken and i must bandage myself. After changing my name everything was normal again and i wasnt hacked. Sorry for my bad English folks^^

Mmm to be honest, in my case i also play on a server that restarts every 8hs, and so far my saved vehicles stay where i saved them, no issues at all. The only pesky thing is that every time the server restarts, RANDOMLY, the vehicles/tents (altogether) will either appear...or not. But i was able to test with time that they DO remain on the spot. So maaaaybe, you might find your vehicle on the same spot you saved it on the next restart, or the next one to that. At first i thought it worked like: even restart -> vehicles/tents displayed. odd restart -> vehicles/tents -> not displayed. Later i tested out that i may have my vehics/tents displayed for 2-3 restarts in a row, as i may not :P So, as long as you save the vehicle, it "should" stay where you left it (as said before by others, as long as it doesn't get stolen/blown away), whether you see it or not. Try waiting for the next server restart, or the next one even, to see if it is displayed.

1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.
Vittek replied to NocturnalS1n's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bumping this cause we also still have the issue, and by now I'm about the only one left playing of our group cause everyone else can't be bothered anymore finding and repairing vehicles cause they despawn anyway. Nice going there DayZ Team. -
Ok but lets assume noone stole it. You mean to say that servers running 1.7.2.5 respawns all vehicles to its original spawn point upon restart ? Cause my fav servers restart every 8 hours, that would mean its no use parking a vehicle somewhere for later use?

Hi, Been playing DayZ since the end of July, I've only met up with people a few times and I'm looking to start up a small group to scout for vehicles, fix them up, and stockpile supplies in a camp in the middle of nowhere, where we can rendezvous for gear should the inevitable death slow the progress of our plans. Order of operations would be: Find UAZ or similar good vehicle, repair and refuel. Use Vehicle to scout for other vehicles, like 1 each or 1 between 2 would be the goal. Figure out a location for camp, and all head out in search of a tent(s). Raid NE + NW airfield and Stary Sober stockpiling weapons and , and try our damnedest to find some NVGs for the group. Once we're fully kitted out we can decide how we can expand, who we go after, who we help, on a adhoc basis, I dont like the idea of bandit or survivor. We gotta do what we gotta do to get that camp operational and in the end find that F'IN CHOPPA! Ambitious I know, seen as Im mostly a solo player, I dont have any clue where to start, but I dont wanna join people that have already achieved this, I wanna carve my own way for a continuous presence on a server, where we eventually become don No.1's. If anyones interested sound off with your skype! Yippee Ki Hai Mother Duckers!

Okay now I can say my two cents. In teamspeak I asked ackdamos if he hacked a hacked account, he said yes he did and I said okay I'm going to overlook that he said I can get some ammo creates on the server but he needed a white list file. He gave me a link which I disregarded because i didn't want hacked things on my server for obvious reasons. That's when he said his hacked account was banned and he brought a new arma for $40 i said well ill see ( I was always going to say no because of a hacked ammo create.) So my proof of you hacking is admitting to me in ts that you had a hacked account that was banned on battle eye and the only way to get into my server is to get the whitelist file. I don't care that you betrayed us that is you as a person it doesn't reflect on yourself as much and it doesn't show other users or anyone for that matter to trust you in this game. As for zippy, and those rules you posted ackdamos, Zippy has had about 3 servers black listed now, when he dies he kicks and shuts down the server when his tents are getting raided he kicks everyone and shuts down the server. So that's two rules he broke so far in every server he has had. So far I've banned 3 players 2 for hacking (including ackdamos) and 1 was banned for 10 minutes for combat logging, (caught red handed) I have died. I have lost my vehicles my tents have been raided, I have not shut down the server when clan members were killed, and no one has been banned or kicked unfairly. I have not broken any of the rules you stated above as when I created the server I read them and made sure that I follow them correctly. As far as I'm concerned admitting to someone that they have a hack and script and a banned cd key is enough proof for me to ban them from my server. I tried to help you when you were getting accused of your stupidity on your own server when they blew up your chopper and you raged and shut the server down and you nearly got it blacklisted but I see now that was a mistake. I personally don't want servers being blacklisted as it kills the dayz community. I just ask admins to be mature and don't be so dumb and lose your server from raging like a 6 year old and having to much power. Zippy I wont explain the reason why we all left you on here because I can assure you that no one will join BLOODLINE again and your current members will most likely leave. You will not be banned from 2372 although if I find you hacking or scripting yes you will be banned. I did not tell the people from BL to leave you, I gave them an ultimatum a choice, they were not forced they chose. If you want to talk to me on teamspeak I'm on when I can get on most of the day so pop in and ill explain why.

How is this possible? (no dump, no Alt+F4, + timer)
[email protected] replied to vacalouca's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You'd be surprised how many of the problems that Rocket deemed impossible to fix in the mod actually already have been fixed by the community on private servers. Or could be fixed in the future. The thing is, you got this guy who's a private server admin who has, what, 50 players everyday? And if people don't like his server they'll just leave and pick another. But imagine THE HOLY SHITSTORM that a 30 seconds timer would provoke if it were forced on everybody, people would find excuses "We need to be able to alt F4 or the hackers will win!" (So cheesy, right?) "I often disconnect just in case when I go take a dump, do I have to hold my shit in for 30 seconds everytime?!!" Let them get used to it for long enough and people will do whatever it takes to protect their right to exploit game mechanics, glitches and bugs. People want to duplicate, they want to hoard vehicles out of the map, they want to play DayZ the way it's not meant to be played because it's the only way to beat it. -
In that case go play arma 2, oh wait i forgot most scenario's spawn people equipped for the job so you can't camp the coast for dudes without guns. So every other player is the enemy now? I find this particularly funny because all the "hardcore pvper's" claim they love pvp, yet kill everyone on the coast and horde vehicles to prevent people being able to pvp with them. Honestly I hope non of those guys play pathfinder or D&D as they would probably make for an awful experience.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Deathcall replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Time to unleash the storm! Two words... Depletable Worlds What's the most transcendental thing about an apocalypse? Well, that things as we know them end. What does it mean for a zombie (infected?) themed game such as Day Z? Ammo is limited Many people keep bringing up the fact that the in-game currency should be ammunition. This is a most realistic assertion simply because the production lines have stopped and it's most likely that even if there are a few people out there who know how to create more ammunition, the tools or "ingredients" necessary for that aren't easy to find. Even more, "high-end" ammunition like that of sniper rifles or other similar weapons would most likely require a level of knowledge not easily encountered in your every day post-apocalypse wannabe gunsmith. Food is scarce Granted, given the decrease in the "living" population after a zombie outbreak, the amount of food initially available for consumption (adjust this if people were able to stockpile before the infection became uncontrollable) would be sufficient to sustain the "starting" survivor population. However, as a server "ages" it will eventually run out. That means that there will be a moment where there isn't anything to be had in supermarkets or previously looted locations. People will have to go from scavenging to hunting and/or producing their own food. Medical care and supplies eventually run out First, think that many medical supplies and equipment require modern day technology in order to remain useful. For example, our so precious blood bags would technically need to be stored in cooling devices so they don't "spoil". Other things, like painkillers and antibiotics might be more resilient, as well as with most "main-stream" medicines (pretty much everything you can buy in a pharmacy), but serums and similar materials most likely won't survive for too long after the outbreak. Combine this with the fact that these things aren't getting "restocked" and that it isn't easy to produce them "at home" and you'll come to the realization that even though they might outlast food and ammunition, once they are gone, they are gone for good. Vehicles and Fuel The fact is that no new parts are being made and no more fuel is being refined. These two resources are as likely to eventually disappear as the ones I previously mentioned. You may be able to scavenge for some vehicle parts (adjusting for compatibility) and tap some fuel-tanks, stations or silos, but, in the long run, you'll end up walking everywhere. Even after reclaiming a refinery (if there is one), the refining process is not something that normal people can perform. The same way normal people cannot build new cars even if they take-over a factory previously dedicated to that purpose. Also, bear in mind that the most "priced" vehicles such as boats, planes and helicopters most likely utilize a non-standard type of fuel which will be even more scarce. Society reforms itself Despite me being a hardcore friendly survivor. I understand the developers' persistence when they say that bandits are as much a part of this game as zombies. And that would make absolute sense in a depletable world. Right now, there's not much point in killing people when you don't actually have a need for anything. This is just my opinion, of course, but in the current state of things, every player kill in Day Z is either out of tedium (because of lack of better things to do) or trolling. In a world where things are starting to run out, it would make perfect sense for those who are striving to survive to fight over the little resources that are left. This would mean that players who prefer violence would actually be justified in their actions. Of course there will still be killing "for fun", but wasting ammunition, food, medical supplies, fuel, etc., will be a punishment on it's own. Eventually, I'd like for the term "bandit" to disappear and have it fused with "survivor". Because we would all be "survivors", the difference would be how we choose to face this new world. Do we break away from the pre-outbreak social order and ethics? Or do we try to stay true, and reacquire what we have lost? Life goes on, or does it? We are survivors because we survive. The ultimate objective is simply to live. This is currently somewhat implemented in our current way of playing the game. People with long "lives" like to boast about how they have endured the apocalypse. The problem is that it doesn't feel as if we were surviving a zombie-outbreak, but an all out, free for all, gunfight in some imaginary land. Players on a server, as a community of sorts, should aim to have the "longest" survival attempt. What I mean is, it's not about how long a single player can stay alive but how long a server can sustain it's own population. If the players allow the food to deplete, they'll eventually starve. If they waste all their ammunition in pointless zombie or player kills, they'll have to go around with crossbows and axes until they can make some more. And so on. *** Very well, that's the idea I've been brewing for the past days. Of course, there are some... Problems Lets start by saying that this entire idea is meant for the Standalone, and I don't even know if it's possible (or in the developers interest) to go for it. I do know that's pretty impossible to do it with the current mod. Lets look at some of the problems and possible solutions to the "depletable worlds". Character bound to server Of course, characters will have to be bound to servers. That means that you won't be able to server-hop in the same manner that you do now. Players should be able to join any server, but they will spawn as fresh-characters when they switch, while their previous incarnation remains on the other "world". This will prevent "resource" swapping between servers and keep true to the idea of "which server can last the longer". Given the possibility of several maps, it may be possible to establish transition areas (or conditions) that allow characters to leave the current server and join a different world, as long as it's not the same map in which they have been playing (for "reality" purposes). Of course, if they decide to go back, they should travel to the same server they left or the entire point would be lost. I do realize that this is really complicated. But, if servers reach the point where they can host different maps at the same time, the whole server transition wouldn't be needed, making things much "dynamic". Also, I have no idea what kind of pressure this mechanic would put on the hive. Perhaps someone with more knowledge in that subject can point it out. Population Control, needed or not? This mechanic would imply that there should be a somewhat static population in a server. However, if too many players where to join and leave without contributing to a particular world, it could greatly hinder the server's "survivability". This accounts both for server hoppers (who might just try a particular one and then drop out, taking away precious resources with them) or trolls (who might come in with the clear purpose of damaging the experience for others). There are some workarounds which I can think of for this problem. First, and most drastic. Invite-only servers. Not really a measure that I see being implemented as it would deter the experience. Second, implement an "expire" date for characters. If a player chooses not to use a character in a particular server for a period time (say, just for an example, x times the amount of time he played on his last session*), everything that player consumed (such as food or ammunition) and holds (such as guns and other supplies) re-spawns, this should be limited to "short-lived" characters. Similar mechanics could be in place for "long-lived" characters, but only for those things that they were holding at the moment of expiration, otherwise, there could be a "flood" of consumables whenever a player who has been around for a long time stops playing, something which could be abused. *Secondary mechanic should be implemented to allow for players with an accumulated played time surpassing X to remain "active" longer. Third, no mechanic is needed at all and I'm over-worrying. Early Shortages "The Great Bean Rush of Chernogosk" could become a real event if resource spawns aren't handled correctly. What I mean is, if all loot just spawns once, this would imply that new arrivals are going to be in a really sticky situation, even if it has been only a few days since the server started. Ideally, loot will re-spawn up to a certain point, and at a slower (much?) pace. Some sort of meter should be instated in order for players to know what amount of "old-world" resources remain in a particular server. *** Well, that's the current state of my idea. I'm pretty sure they are several things which I haven't thought about yet. And some which I did think about, but that could use some tweaking. Who's up for some more brainstorming? -
CaptainCrunch and I (Stings2pee) were playing on this server about 30 minutes ago. Long story short, I immediately repaired a helicopter on Skalisty Island after the server restarted. (We'll discover that this [ETW] clan was also repairing another helicopter at the same time). After the server was up for about 45 minutes, I had mine completely repaired and flew to Cherno. To my surprise, there was another helicopter flying around in Cherno and the door gunner shot me down. My friend (CaptainCrunch) was a sniper on the silos and killed them with his AS50 when they landed and tried to go loot my dead body. I respawned in Cherno and stole THEIR chopper, picked up my friend, and flew away. ...About 5 minutes later, the [ETW] clan owner restarts the server and causes us to lose the chopper (since vehicles do not save anymore). That's such fucking bullshit. CaptainCrunch legitimately killed them and they restart the server causing us to lose a chopper. The server had only just restarted like an hour ago. They intentionally restarted it to fuck us over in a fair battle. What a bunch of poor sports. When you're not trying to avoid hackers, ALT+F4ing dick heads, there's always abusive admins that restart the server when it's beneficial to the clan. /le sigh

Hysterics replied to Thadeum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry you can't wrap your head around these people causing issues, but there's a huge amount of people hacking items into the game, extra ammo, guns, that wouldn't exist without those scripts. I've found stashes of gear I could tell weren't legit, and it's really hard to say no to that... And he even admitted to teleporting vehicles around, as I've said before most of the time nowadays when people use scripts to get vehicles, they're teleporting an already existing vehicle or causing one to spawn at their spawn locations and teleporting that to them, depriving legitimate players of the fun that is finding random vehicles and fixing them up... The list goes on, server stablility, BattleEye wastes their time dealing with people like him instead of ThunderDomers because they have to deal with everything that comes their way, it's just how it works... Server admins have to clean up the messes they make... Anyways. I'm done here lol. I'm hoping this guy isn't just some fucking troll, maybe some logic will hit him eventually, who knows... Also he said he gave his mates gear, who knows exactly what they did with it? lol... -
Finished the video now. Not to shabby I guess... I wish servers could be more custom, not that I'd want them to be anything like this just with maybe the ability to change spawn percentages. More vehicles, less good gear, ect. Whatever the host wants or what ever the players want. =P
-
I think that's a tad of an exaggeration but still, that's more or less what you want to do, find new servers. Better chances of finding vehicles there. I've still only run into a handful of vehicle spawns and I rarely join servers below US2000 ( The higher the number the newer the server, or at least that's what I've been told. )
-
Try joining newer servers. Basically how it works is that when a vehicle spawns it's given an ID. If a player fixes that vehicle, and stashes it somewhere, the ID sticks and that type of vehicle will not respawn at the vehicle spawn point until it is destroyed. So on older servers the vast majority of stuff is already hidden, and in a lot better hiding spots than anywhere even remotely close to the NWAF. Also I believe when hackers 'spawn' vehicles, nowadays they're mostly just teleporting already existing vehicles, or causing vehicles that hadn't spawned yet to spawn in their original locations and then teleport them to them. If that makes sense lol. Creating a vehicle out of thin air raises more alarms on the server end of things, so most scripts have found other ways to get them. ( This is in response to the guy saying go to a high pop server, chances are you might find a random vehicle kicking around, but there's just as good of a chance as that vehicle being teleported away by a hacker while you're offline. )
-
dont play on 2 month old servers ive made 3 characters before i quit to play dark souls EACH server had default spawns on 90% of vehicles i literally couldnt avoid vehicles

The term Hacker was appropriated by the media in the 90s to replace "Malicious Cracker" because some idiots out there would see the word "cracker" as derogatory and possibly racist. Ever since then, the word Hacker has, in about 95% of cases, meant exactly what we're all referring to.... Honestly, I hate seeing people try and mince words. The point is you maliciously altered code in a multiplayer game and it effected other people regardless of how you feel... This isn't a case of black, white, and grey, you are most definitely within the black shade of things here. It's not about being comfortable, It's simply that from the vast majority of peoples perspectives you're wrong. lol. If you were, for instance, constantly invisible, and avoided any contact with anyone, even your 'friends', and you didn't teleport vehicles around, then I could agree that you were in the grey area, and there are others that would still disagree because even those scripts cause server stress and give admins extra work if they are in fact being diligent. ( I ran into an invisible hacker the other day who and I'm not shitting y'all complimented me for being a 'true survivor' the guy had helped me fix up a truck I found, I thought there was just a random glitch because the truck had been missing quite a few parts, and when I came back to it literally two minutes later it was completely fixed up, wasn't full of gas but still had a quarter tank, and it was the Ural Civilian, lots of fuel space etc... The spoke to me about 45 minutes after I found the truck, told me he helped me fix it up and the bit about the true survivor thing, and then nothing. Didn't hear a word out of him afterwards, didn't see him... He was causing server stress by teleporting around and remaining invisible, but that's one of the only examples I could see as being grey. ) At the same time it gave ME an unfair advantage, as I didn't have to spend the half hour it probably would have taken me to fix the truck up... So yeah, It's not a matter of black white and grey, but more about how any little thing you do can effect other people, and if you're effecting other people that's unfair and well, bad. Also, regardless of it being Alpha, it's still a MMO in a sense. You're in a glitchy world, sure, test things out.... but everyone else is in the same environment, and this is the game we have to play, we shouldn't have to deal with other people 'testing' things. One last thing, as far as the argument about alpha being allowed to test things, first of all, these scripts you're using, THEY KNOW ABOUT THEM. You're not HELPING them figure ANYTHING out. At ALL. Seriously. BattleEye exists because this is a mod, the DayZ devolopers have no control over a lot of aspects of the original Arma game, which is where a lot of these scripts target. You're using a bypasser program, essentially wasting the time of the people who are trying to fix things.... You're not helping in any way shape or form, you're simply dragging things down as far as development goes... They try and block access to these scripts, and people like you find ways around their blocks. Thus "Bypasser programs". -
Today I have been legitimally global banned for cheating
Hysterics replied to Thadeum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I sympathize with a lot of what you said, but this one quote kind of irked me. Just because It's in Alpha doesn't mean you should cheat, or that cheating is any less bad. Regardless of how you feel, what you did effected other people, the servers you cheated on, when you "spawn" vehicles, it can teleport peoples already existined and hidden vehicles directly to you. You ran a script, and didn't even know the full effect of it, you only saw the results... Also, when you silently gear up and move to other servers, let's say a bandit comes upon you after you're geared up, the Bandit Vs Survivor aspect is part of this game, regardless of whether you consider it lame, if there was no Pvp it takes a certain risk aspect away from the game, making it more lame. Now, as I was trying to say, you geared up silently then went to other servers, now let's say someone legitimately tried to hunt you down after you geared up, the player would be Pvping, but he wouldn't be cheating, and his chances of taking you out would be drastically reduced due to your hacked gear. I've only ever found a Gps, NightVision and a few of those other nice goodies off of dead bodies, never found them along the NW Airfield or other military area's... It's hard to gather up the amount of gear that a hacker can just script into the game in an instance, and regardless of how you feel it gave you an unfair advantage over other players... Honestly though, you should have given the game more time. I've been here for a few weeks now, and even though I've experienced many of the same things as you, random glitches, zombies going through walls, doors, and all other varieties of bullshit, even through all that I'm still having fun, and you know what, I really doubt I'd be having much fun at all if I could just get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it. Part of the replay value of this game is dealing with all the shit and still persevering. I'm incredibly fast at gearing up now, I know most of the routes to take from any given spawn point in order to gear up fastest and get on my way. I found a Ural Civilian truck the other week and fixed it up, and as you said used it as storage in the wilderness mostly, but how is that a negative thing? Having that storage space added immensely to the continuity of the game, allows you to store a lot more and actually get a feeling of progress... Honestly, I think you jumped the gun in cheating, and while many things frustrate me about this game, it's getting past that frustration and just learning the ins and outs of the game that I find the most entertaining.
