One thing I would like to see in Day Z or more so for the stand alone game, was something I saw in Fallout factories were taken over and controlled by gangs now it wasn't very in depth in the game but basically if you completed a few quests for the gang they would let you use their factory to make ammo. I think that Day Z should use this idea to make more game content atm this game is more like a limited weapon and vehicle BF3 on a huge map. And like all FPS's they get old after a while. I think things that we need to progress in the game should require the use of facilities like factories, car repair shops, and lab's. And these facilities our something you can control like territory or 0.0 space in EVE and you would need a gang to control the facility. I think it would create a power struggle in the game that would make for more interesting fighting more of a gang on gang rather then over equipped guys killing flashlight coastal's. And give players a goal to work for as well as a reason to work together. Currently one doesn't need anyone else to get vehicles and high end gear I can do it all on my own and currently the only safe way to play is to shoot any player on site. So a lot of the time it feels more like I am playing a single player game with a really smart AI well sometimes its a smart A.I. Just a thought sorry if its long winded but I think it would be good for the game and we know it works as its been used in other games. Let me know what you think.

I guess this has to do with the WarZ/DayZ thing. I don't see how WarZ has any defendants. They went so far as to copy DayZ's name. It's like calling a game "Warfield" and copying Battlefield's idea but add in a worse game engine and some shitty new mechanics..but, now on to your question. DayZ could change the enemy (AI marauders and such), scenario, map, terrain, character model, guns, vehicles, and so on. You're asking the wrong question, you should ask "what can DayZ do to NOT make you want to play it?"

New player looking to join up with a partnar or a squad
Slickback (DayZ) replied to Slickback (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
sorry I really did not know how to phrase it properly. I don't want to be always PvP'ing. Killing some players on the side is fine, but most of the time I want to be looting things: vehicles, weapons, camo -

New player looking to join up with a partnar or a squad
Slickback (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Edit #1: Found a seemingly nice fellow. Don't need a partnar as of now. My skype name is jhendrixns. Feel free to PM me. Things I am not looking for: 1. Not immersing myself in PvP; however, if it's something as little as "lets go to elektro and kill some people" i'm fine with that. 2. Not putting myeslf into risky situations e.g. raiding/looting NW airfield at 2:00 P.M. -.- 3. Not looking for a bandit partnar. Sorry it's just I probably would not trust you ^.^ Things I am looking for: 1. Somebody that is willing to find or repair vehicles for use 2. Hoarding caches of weapons + ammo + misc 3. Somebody who I can trust (you could lie, but you're better than that) -
Every restart will leave all the vehicles repaired respawn at their spawn point.. and no longer usable untill repaired again, Sooooo... I suggest you take your server, Downgrade it to 1.7.2.4, Repair every Vehicle there is to find, leave 'em at that point and when youre done?... Patch the server to the latest, This way, people can allways find a Vehicle after a restart, and people dont have to repair their car wreck 3 times a day,

Come to US 2498 we are open for business. Vehicles galore. You cant save em but we have em!!
-
Well thank you i can now stop thinking your just posting to be a d**k and i take back my harsh words. What i was saying about no lag is when you join a server and all the players experience the same server lag (server needing restart etc) and also loading times, some server you need to wait 3-4 mins to join on loading screen again mainly due to server "clutter" and i was merely pointing out this server aint one of those ones :) The server has been pretty busy the past few days, so busy that when our group was landing a chopper to drop off an assault team to push in on stary sobor where players were, our pilot got sniped from somewhere when we were 30m from the ground LOL. We dont do the whole D/C bitch thing and we really did give someone a very pretty display of death and fireworks. Wish we knew who it was to have a chat with him, was a nice shot and would have been nice to say well done. Today we lost our only 2 vehicles, due to a hacker (seen in logs after we noticed camp destroyed and vehicles gone) and after we blew up all the rest to provide other random players with vehicles... we were pissed to say the least. But one of our guys who was down at Electro almost got run over by our stolen V3S so we got a chopper up and chased the fkr down....buy he got away! :@ Then we thought we found them in the NWA and again dropped an assault team off with some thermal weapons and snipers since we seen 5 guys running into the forest in the Southern Barracks, but after seeiing they were surrounded by 5 guys on the ground and a chopper above with 2 gunners they D/C ohhh the rage! So yeah servers getting a bit more fun now, Again sorry for jumping down your throat but when you see people on the forums acting like a 12 y/o it seems like a troll trying to rack up some forum post points but gratz for putting things straight.

Becoming fully geared is suddenly so easy
TheLoneRanger (DayZ) replied to metaminer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Between my group of 4, we have a stupid amount of gear that was not duped. Vehicles+crashed helis is the easiest way to gear up, period. Granted, my on-foot learning curve was ~ 1 week, vehicles/ tents ~1 week, and crashed choppers ~ 3 days. After about 2 1/2 weeks of play on a home server gearing up is easy, and once you memorize the map you can easily predict where choppers might be, vehicle spawns, and even campsites. After about a month of mod play you know how/where vehicles respawn when blown up, see the signs of a hacker, and to stash things in multiple sites across the map. I learned everything the *hard way*, server hopping the Elektro/Cherno Sniper hills is just as bad as doing it for the NWAF or intentionally duping items. -

I believe you found a server with 1.7.2.5 with the vehicle reset bug.. There was a bug a while back that prevented new severs from spawning any vehicles.. A hotfix was applied, and now all the vehicles reset after a restart. My group had to revert our server back to 1.7.2.4 because of this. -
Looking for friendly players? Hit us up
Found2bmissing posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Me and My buddies are constant players and we have a number of other players who come and go as they please... we have a team speak server. We aren't really all into Player killing more just killing zombies fixing vehicles and trying to help other survivors that don't blast at us without asking questions. My steam name is Found2bmissing and the invite applies to anyone looking to team up make jokes and kill zombies... I'm fully gear'd with ghillie suit and silenced m4 so you're more then welcome to any weapons we find... We're just about playing for fun... we try and stay on low population servers to avoid the trigger happy bandits. We aren't trying to be "Law keepers" just trying to have fun. Honestly we prefer to play with people 18+ players do to the implied maturity We aren't looking to team up with hackers or people that are stricly player killers. Our ONLY rule is "Using our teamspeak server to meet up with and kill another player will get you perma banned" In a world laid waste by chaos... Humanity is more often then not Found2BMissing -
Tl;dr: Are helicopter fly bys in both rural and urban/military areas the norm? Is server hopping a big problem? There seem to be a lot of hackers, has this number been decreasing or increasing (proportionately speaking)? OK, I didn't really know where to write this but since I'm quite a new player I think it should go here. Disclaimer at the top: despite any complaining it may sound like I'm doing later on in this post, I don't think that anything needs to be done to pkers, griefers or bandits generally (only hackers), as I see it, frustration is part of the game and I should just learn from my mistakes :) Also I've really been enjoying it so far as well. Anyway, so yeah, took me a little bit of time to get used to it, it doesn't play out too much like most other games I play/have played but I wouldn't say the learning curve was high. Had a bit of getting used to the controls (not in a customisable sense but just what was contextual what wasn't, trying to find out how exactly to do everything), I haven't figured it all out but I'm more or less used to it. Had my panic moments, and my incredibly tedious moments - in a fit of stupidity I trekked quite far away from the nearest hospital without even thinking about picking up morphine, in fact I didn't even know that I would need these. I didn't really read the wiki or anything because in a game like this I think it's better to figure things out as you go. Anyway you can guess how that ended up, a two hour trek in prone position back to the closest hospital. I don't mind, it's all character building and learning, not anything I would care to repeat if I could help it though. This was in vain though because about 30 minutes from this point I got blown up in what seemed to be a random fly by chopper. They didn't stop, didn't slow down and caught me whilst I was hiding prone underneath a tree (I don't trust any vehicle noises at this point!). This leads to my first question I guess, is this kind of thing common? I mean I was out in the middle of no where, up a little bit south of black lake in woodland. There was no reason for a chopper to be there really, it's not exactly prime location as far as I could tell, though I may not know enough to judge that. Anyway, I know it's common for snipers to camp out near frequently visited areas and that a lot of players are generally hostile even if they're not bandits but I didn't read anything about this. So was I just unlucky? The next thing I wanted to ask, is server hopping a common problem? It seems to be too easy to do on here at the moment if you're looking for some good loot it just takes a couple of minutes of loading and bam, you can pretty much get what you're looking for. Obviously there are loads of things I would like to see improved already, being able to fortify buildings/towns - but without wiping out Zs as someone suggested, this would certainly help with the "survivor" side actually trying to form a new community from the wreckage of humanity, foraging flora even so far as to make farm land potentially arable, something like water purification (when something has turned almost everyone into Zs I think it would probably be a safe bet that the water would NOT be drinkable), better and more realistic first aid (my god, not another 2 hour crawl), I also think that certain vehicles should be really prohibitive to use, I mean seriously, 99.999999% of people are not going to be able to fly a chopper just because they repaired (hell, why can just anyone repair a chopper anyway? It should be harder than it is) it, raw meat should spoil as should cooked meat, day light times should mimic actual real world seasonal times not be fixed (though I think it was already stated this wouldn't change). Too many things, most of which have almost certainly been mentioned (at a quick glance over the suggestions thread, I'm really impressed by some of the stuff on there), but having a game marketed as realistic opens it up to all sorts of nitpicking and pedantry. Some things can't be changed (like the general dickishness of human nature when there's lots of anonymity and no emotional attachment or real emotional consequence to your actions) which is a shame as this is supposed to be realistic... but as this is partial social experiment, I think maybe you wouldn't want to change it even if you had the means. OK that was a very rambling selection of thoughts and in reality only a few questions.

So we have helicopter crashes, but i thought we could do with something a little more common, and with a little less interesting loot. Car crashes can happen on main roads, dirt roads, and in towns. There will be a few different types of crashes, Single, which will be one Vehicle, that had maybe flipped over or crashed into a tree. Double, which will be two, and triple, which will be three. Chance of spawning Single:70% Double:20% Triple:10% Each vehicle will hold between one and 10 times. The Vehicles will be damaged beyond repair. There will also be different types of Vehicle, spawning different items. Civilian : 40% chance of spawning- Will spawn the same loot as a Residential High yield spawn . Police: 40% chance of spawning- This will drop weapons, such as M9, G17, 810, m1014, colt, revolver, and mp5. I feel that these weapons are even more uncommon the AKs, and i think that needs to change, we need to have a bigger gap, between civilian loot, and the high end military stuff. I think some sort of Police/law enforcement loot, would work better. Medical:10%- drops medical supplies. Military:10% - Drops the same stuff as you would find in a low level military spawn, such as the tents in cherno. Just a random thought what do you guys think?

get bored of fk*ng server
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If they are really working on the standalone, they gonna loose so many players, coz of annoying bugs on the dayz alpha, and fix them take less time Cancel object in ur inventory, same on tent and vehicles, 1 hurt of zombie bleed you(or u need painkiller) on a regular server, bugged ground (broke legs just walking around an exploded building/vehicles) I know why there is so many cheaters, quote Mzly XD -
You know that the vehicles are tied to the server you found it on right?

My feedback before leaving this game on its own.
Deuzerre posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, this is an alpha, right? So I'll give the feedback that should come from an alpha, before I leave it somewhere around. As a social experiment, DayZ is sort of a success. not quite here yet, but close. This Alpha proved that many people are assholes when there is no limit to what they can do. It showed, in my opinion, that the Sandbox idea mixed with the possibility of PvP is flawed, that there is an actual need for rules, limits, reward and punishment for actions otherwise some people become petty random killers, grievers and whatnot. The successful aspect of the social experiment is that, when a number of people are jerks and can't be contained, when being a jerk makes you stronger simply because you are alive and the other one isn't, "Normal" people become jerks themselves and/or "Isolate themselves into groups". It's a strange concept, but people don't play really alone, or they become frustrated and leave (like me). I've played with a group over skype/mumble, and needless to say it was fun, with that feel of invincibility. The group eventually split though, since it wasn't really a challenge, and we never met other groups to wage war against, only single targets we most of the time left to their own business. The disappearance of global chat is a big part of the reason of this: Sure, there was a lot of baiting, it wasn't in the feel of the game, but then, isn't teamspeak and similar bullshit too? As a PvP game, DayZ sucks. This engine isn't made for that kind of thing. Most of the time, sounds don't work when they come from someone else. Desynchs make you appear where you are not and take bullets when you are perfectly hidden, makes targetting moving people hard to do at best when they just jump backwards every few seconds. Hits not registering, stuff like that... And that's not to speak about the weaponry available, it's a slippery slope. I will just say that semi-automatic sniper rifles feel quite out of place, and might have been here for the rule of cool, but they aren't that cool. They just sound cool. As a PvE game, it has gotten better. It used to be terrible, but recently it's been better, much better. Less pro sprinters Zig-Zag screw laws of physics, more "right". Zeds are an annoyance you must always take care of. The only major downside of PvE is that Zeds don't follow player rules. By that I mean they go through furniture, sometimes jerk around, and when you want to remain hidden from humans you are still visible to zeds, and the opposite is true too. As a looting game... Partly due to scripts, but mostly by design, it's not great. Finding stuff is relatively easy, thanks to predictable loot areas, and the best way to find stuff is... PvP. Find an enfield, find a good camping spot out of one of the military areas, kill your target, full stuff, or a good way there. PvP is the best way for everything actually, but it shouldn't. It should be "A" way, not "The best way". Since being "Low stuff" general means you don't care, to get loot you can just kill a dude. When you have acceptable gear, to finish the set you... Kill a dude. Then, you have your ideal set and all you have to do is to go for a lake to refill, and hunt an animal to get some meat. As a survival game, it does it quite well, but it reaches its limits really fast. You barely ever get ill. If you die from lack food, it's because of absurdly bad luck or simple idiocity. If you die from zeds, it's either because you did something stupid (got stuck in a building and fought by the rules without disconnecting) or by bad luck (9K limit, meed your broken leg maker), but they are here to keep you on your toes anyway, not to kill you. If you die to players... Sometimes it's a random snipers you can't do anything about (otherwise, check every bush in the game, and pray someone doesn't move in one of the ones you checked) or ambushes (I'm fine with that) or bad encounters, but anyway you are on your toes... but too much, since encountering a friendly is less frequent than finding a prostitute without a STD. I can say I encountered ONE player I didn't know that didn't shoot me on sight since my Makarov spawn days. Because there is no reason to try apart if you are an idiot like I am, hoping that humanity isn't made of e-boner kids. Survival should mean actually trying tu survive, not killing people for what they have in a game of russian roulette or for shit and giggles, or at least not as the only valid way of playing outside of a teamspeak group. As an Alpha, it was, sorry to say it Rocket, but terrible. Since I came in, the only major changes have been the removal of weapons at spawn, and the LoS breaking for Zeds. The addition of axes is fun, but limited. Most of the rest has been some fine tuning... But there has been no change/evolution/improvement in terms of features. You mistook an alpha for a game. People will whine about bugs (Like the current dead body glitches) but these can be resolved separately/later. Add features, remove them, that's what an alpha is for dammit! We are here to test your ideas, just throw them up on us and we'll be happy! We are your playground, for you to know what to add/keep for the stand alone. We are a bunch of whining prats, but we can live with dying to a hill slope (happened) rocks and trees, we can survive with graphical glitches (they can be fixed on a separate schedule, but, man, they weren't there before, what's the change that made you cause them?). But repeating the same tasks for ever without new things gets boring. And some of the features saw their limits: Vehicles get hoarded (I still found some, but you know server owners just abuse the system most of the time), humanity is currently useless since over 50% of the player base kills on sight while the others die, sickness only happens on really rare occasions, global chat not being there only prevents people from communicating in game (further increasing KoS while preventing groups forming). Lots of other things. There is probably a lot more to add. Let's just say that I'm glad to have participated in this (lucky me, I already had ARMAII before, just bought the DLC for the skins) but I have no hope for this game to go, even slightly, in the way I'd wish it to go. It has given me all I think it can give, and frustration but I knew some of it would come. I've played alone, in groups, survivor, bandit (a bit) and in my last life bandit hunter. But that's it, there is no more. Note that I don't expect anything from WarZ either, I suspect this to be a dung with a bit of sugar coating. I'll still follow DayZ's news, but I won't take part in the alpha anymore. Oh, and to the guys that will say this is a QQ or something: Shut up, grow up. -
US 1560 Battleye antihax ban (object access flooding)
fuzzy4ever replied to velyse (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bumping a 2 day old post to say this - Was just banned for a server for this exact same thing, it happened when I was saving a helicopter. I saved it three times and when I scrolled to save it again, I was banned. I've always saved vehicles 10 times just in case. The 'ol gutman-mentality. Based on what happened to me and what the ban is labeled as, it seems like if you access an object to many times to quickly, you'll get banned. I'm not sure how this could be related to any sort of hack though. Feel free to enlighten me! -
Nice to hear bug is known, never seen a post about it so i kept debating weather to make a post. Lost many vehicles to this.
-
I don't know if anybody said this yet, but the guy is correct. People have all the top end gear because it's spawned in. What rocket needs to do is reset everybodies stats, all the vehicles, tents, servers, etc. Battleye has picked up on banning hackers so now would be the time to do this. Once they did this, you would see how crappy the spawns are. You would see more people with just normal ak's, m16s, lee enfields, etc. The problem still lays in server hopping to get a better chance at a weapon. If you make a trip to the airfield on a low pop server, it is SOOOOO easy to get geared up. The hardest items to still get would be a coyote backpack, NVG, range finders, as50, l85, etc. Any m4, ak, pistol variant will be easy still. I have yet to find NVG or RF at the airfield. I only find them off of players, who probably got them spawned in. This is why it's best to play with friends. It only takes 1 geared person and a few others with just ak's to get geared up. Heck I had an Ak and alice pack, killed a guy in cherno and got m16, DMR, NVG, RF, coyote backpack, etc etc. My point about the server hopping is, if you take that away, people will have a much harder time finding gear.

So i found two ghillie guys having fun with a Ural in middle of elektro and they got killed... stole their ural and went north the server was going to restart in 5 minutes so i save the ural and after the restart the ural wasnt there... lost Pipe bombs that were in the Ural :(. When will they fix this?
-
No, no. I like playing the game just fine. I wouldn't want to play your version of it because it's shallow, uninteresting and short-term which completely defeats the purpose of having a persistent world. Without storage, DayZ might as well play like ARMA 2 - instanced missions that come and go. What's the point of having a persistent world that saves its state if there is no method by which players can accumulate supplies over long periods of time? What if I want to recruit new players into my squad and outfit them quickly? What if I want to create a player-run hospital and supply my own medics with blood, morphine and antibiotics? What if I want to repair a vehicle (which requires more than 3 wheels and a jerry can)? What if I want to have a long-range loadout ready for days when I need to play over-watch and a short or medium range loadout in storage for days when I need to be prepared for urban combat? What if I want to extend the survivability of my team by stockpiling food and supplies so they do not have to enter populated areas and endanger their lives every time they get thirsty? What if I want to run a supply depot and trade weapons for car parts and medical supplies? What if I want to build a larger structure such as a fort or underground base, or repair and maintain the vehicles and equipment I get which will soon undergo degradation and disrepair as per rocket? What if I want to try and rebuild motherfucking civilization? I have to do it out of my backpack? Yes. Sorry. Insane and retarded both come to mind. In what ridiculous fucking universe does it make any sense whatsoever that I wouldn't want to store some survival supplies and equipment somewhere? What kind of survivor says "Well, there's a lot of food and important supplies over there but there's no room in my backpack so I'm just going to let it rot." Fucking ridiculous. Because when I repair vehicles I don't do it like a retard. I find out what the vehicle needs, and then I go gather those parts slowly and methodically until I have every part I need and then I use one of my existing vehicles to drive in, repair the damaged vehicle quickly, and get out safely. Instead of your method which would basically require running back and forth and forth and back and forth and back and forth over and over like a goddamn circus clown to bring items one at a fucking time from kilometers away just because you don't think a pick-up truck has a bed or a military supply vehicle a place to put motherfucking supplies. No, that's not even one of my complaints let alone the biggest. And it's not you I'm trying to convince. I can tell from reading your posts that you will never be convinced of anything. Instead I just plan on following you around and pointing out at every opportunity what a ridiculous loon you are with respect to player storage so that other players who come by and read the discussions won't mistake your ideas for legitimate contributions to the mod and wonder whether they might have to be afraid of the kind of de-evolution in mechanics and depth for which you constantly advocate. Okay, then what fucking difference does it make if I find it in 1 hour or 30 minutes because I have it stored in a tent? You just undermined your entire fucking argument. You're right. Gear is not important. Finding it is not hard. So letting me store some in a tent doesn't really undermine the pain of death. Your problem is you think the game is about gear. When I die I don't give a flying fuck what gear I had. I care about my story, the history of my character, losing contact with friends, getting cut off from my squad, resetting my zombie kill count and days survived, etc. Gear is not the point to the game. So storing it does not undermine anything let alone the "fundamental design" of the game. Link me to these polls where people agree that storage should be removed? Please? Is that the same interview where he talked about letting squads build underground bases for persistent storage that wouldn't be able to be infiltrated while they were offline? That rocket, and that interview? You putz. It's obviously not how the game was designed. Oh, please son. Tear into me all you want. Take all the time you need. I welcome your tiny little kitten claws. Meow. No, what it comes down to is that I understand that gear storage doesn't have any effect on how permadeath impacts me as a player. Because unlike you I realize the game isn't about gear or loot. It's about player interactions, stories, and creating and fostering an emotional presence in the world. It's ironic you accuse me of wanting to play WoW when you're obviously the one who is obsessed about gear and equipment. If you really thing having some shit in a tent takes away the sting of death, then you value gear far more than I do.
-
Here too. Another restart fixed it. @Demoni, Server gets restarted at least four times a day, usually more. I don't rely on automatic restarts as they can and do fail often (vehicles etc. missing). Once in a while something won't save for somebody but there's not much I can do about the hive. All in all though, things seem to be working well.

Says me. There's a big difference to being a "bandit" and being a "shitbag". Im a bandit, not the latter. Let me explain. Bandits aim to kill better geared players to take for themselves. Bandits set up ambushes in and around high population military zones, mainly to jack vehicles. Bandits look for and then raid camps, killing anyone who happens to be in the area. "shitbags" shoot noobs in elektro and pretend to themselves thaty they are the bandit god.
