    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Aye, this! I agree as much as anyone that the tents and vehicles not saving and resetting, as well as duping and hacking is frustrating to the point of sheer fucked up, but DayZ is still good no less. And I would strongly concur that development time put into the actual standalone game is priority to the mod, afterall, the more time is dedicated to the game, the better game we'll get, and as said previously, when that happens, all of this will be nothing but a frustrating memory, and maybe even a fond story to tell the newbies to wash up on shore in the months there after.

    Stop fuel leak in helicopter?

This is false. Thanks to vehicles not saving in 1.7.2.5 and consistently respawning at their "initial" spawn location, I've easily been able to repair 3 helicopters in the past week. I can confirm that when you've repaired EVERYTHING, the fuel leak stops. This means: 1x Main Rotor Assembly 1x Engine Parts 4x Scrap Metal 8x Windscreen Glass Make sure you SCROLL DOWN on the repair menus for scrap/glass since there are more than what just shows up on the initial view of the action menu. The HUD in the helicopter DOES NOT show the status of all scrap metal repairable parts nor does it show the status of the windscreen repairs. So, the HUD showing "all green" means nothing at all when it comes to the helicopter being fully repaired to the point of no longer leaking fuel. Again, I've repaired 3 helicopters in the past week and can confirm they do leak like hell UNTIL fully repaired. Then, the fuel lasts forever it seems ;)

    Nuke end game/ server reset

@koze I think you're missing the distinction between nice and fair. It's completely fair for someone to repair vehicles (seriously, what do you need...scrap metal, a tire, a windshield, and engine parts...that's an hour or so of work) and then lose them in a week or less. It's not nice if it happens, but it's completely fair as long as everyone has the same opportunity to find and repair those vehicles later. I found a bike and a tractor in my first two hours of gameplay. And then I ditched the bike and blew up the tractor. This will never happen again because the next guy who found those vehicles put them in the debug forest a kilometer off the northern map and then decided never to use them again. Now new players will never even have the opportunity to find those vehicles while playing the game normally. It's not nice if it happens, but it's completely fair as long as everyone has the same opportunity to find and repair those vehicles later. So, I would still play DayZ if it happened. And presumably the OP would too. And we outnumber you two to one. :)
  4. being forced to walk, or to rely on your team to have transport arranged when you need it does add a lot to the game... traversing the highlands on foot still is a thrill to me, because you never know when you gonna meet that other guy currently running to Vybor/NWAF/Sobor.. if vehicles were overabundant, the map would suddenly become much smaller.. i love me bicycles though, fast, silent and basically indestructible, the most OP vehicle in the game :)

    What about adding AH-6X.

Would be nice, i feel so wasteful and to large of a target using most vehicles ESPECIALLY the UH-1H since i play alone alot. Would be a nice alternative to the Dirt Bike and Bicycle.
  6. Yeah ofc, it can be a bit frustating.. when i play with my friends, we often plan a meeting spot in the map. So lets say we have planned to game like 7 pm tonight, then at 7 everyone is at that meeting point.. and no its not hard to find your way to a meeting point if you have a map and some basic navigation skills :) and i also play alot alone. and often die while playing alone. so i have to run far to the meeting point, but its part of the game.. for the record i only play with 2 friends, mostly just 1. and we have fixed several vehicles, we use the method i talked about earlier.. with one guy carrying all the medic supplies food, and guns.. and the other the parts we need, while the other protects.. both guys have ofc a primary weapon
  7. I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness, and a fair amount of time around the edge of the map and in the empty area beyond, never found another tent/vehicle that a player had saved, well I've found a few tents but they were always empty. That was on of my objectives for awhile, then it turned to just finding all the spawn points for vehicles and fixing them up, going on joy rides etc... I was blaring music the other day through the in game microphone while driving along the coast, was good times... lol... But yeah I dunno. Most vehicles I find at spawns are very broken down and require a lot of time to fix, hard to spend all that time just for a 20 minute joy ride haha.
  8. Give yourself something to do... hunt vehicles and camps, giving yourself an objective spreads the time out.
  9. I don't even mean a base in that sense, just somewhere I can store stuff and meet up with friends... I know the area's I've stored my vehicles in weren't stumbled upon by legit players in the eight hours I was offline to sleep for lol... I don't know. Yeah that would be a sweet addition, and clearly one for the future right, but there's really no poiint in fixing up any vehicle that requires more than one or two pieces of gear, tires, engine parts, fuel lines, they all take up 6 slots, and you have really minimum gear slots, especially considering holding an extra weapon is 8 slots, then there's ammo which I try and have 6 clips of at all times.... You can't be prepared, with morphine, blood bags, food, water, ammo, an extra gun, and do -anything- else. And Tents/vehicle saving don't work, so even if you did spend all that time fixing up a vehicle, going back and forth between it and industrial spawns looking for engine parts etc, you'll only have the vehicle for as long as you're online, when you log off you might as well kiss it good bye. It's like why even have the ability to own a tent, or to save a vehicle, if there's no way it works. and this has been an issue for a long ass time. Either fix it or remove the option, stop dangling the proverbial carrot in front of our eager faces. :P

    Nuke end game/ server reset

If the army was still there I think they would rescuing you instead of dropping nukes. Also you've arrived after the aftermath, the infection is over but those who are zombies will forever be so. If there was a chance that there was someone out there to save you, they have already been turned into zombies. I do not think it is fair that people would have to spend hours trying to repair vehicles e.g ural near skalka and the helicopter in skalisty and then only to find that they will loose it within a week or so. Its not hard to find camps of vehicles, you just have to know where to go, I've found 5 vehicles just be guessing where people would put their camps. Also alot of vehicles arnt very well camoflaged so you can spot alot of them from a distance. Its not fair on everyone els, just because you cant find any cars doesnt meen that EVERYONE should loose their vehicles every week or so. In case you didnt know, there are many car spawns, you will not always find a car even though you visit the spawn point. Another thing is that there a new spawn points, some that are not yet listed on the dayz wiki. They are most likely there, you're just no looking hard enough. No one would play DayZ.

    Still haven't found...

Sounds like luck. I've been playing a few weeks and have found tens of Ghillie suits and Camo Clothing, never in a Military location btw. Cafes, red brick buildings or offices are where I've found them all. Usually I give them away though because they just make me a target. I found no vehicles for weeks and then I finally found an ATV, a few hours later I found a bus and a chopper too. Luck is all crazy and such.

    Just a little help please

Don't feel bad we cant add anything to our tents it goes by by when reboot the server our vehicles re-spawn and don't save anything in them and something keeps changing our time. not sure what but reboots only fix it half the time.

To Joker and Co. on US 2581

here, have my beans! edit: Don't forget the resetting of vehicles everytime you restart the server!
  14. Guys - Join a Private Hive Server they are working like in 1.7.2.4 pretty much. We have one and tents and vehicles are saving fine as are the dogs - these things are awesome!
  15. Jex =TE= (DayZ)

    Saving vehicles and tents.

Because the server hasn't been restarted? We tested vehicles on our server and on a restart they spawn back at their original location all busted up with no gear in them.

    Nuke end game/ server reset

As far as i'm aware atm, when a server dose a restart the vehicles reset to ? well on our server they do anyway most server do a restart every 6 to 8 hours am i wrong ?
  17. The first time I got killed, I ran to a lighthouse, where someone was waiting in the door and shot me. Several deaths later, I realised you couldn't trust anyone. Now I shoot on site. You know, I could easily stay alive for weeks, with full equipment, ghillie, gps, nvg's etc. in the north, we have a camp and plenty of vehicles. I used to do that, but now I do not. I purposefully roam the cities and high risk areas. Why would you wan't to do the former? It is fun, and the adrenaline is good :D My goal is to get as many kills as possible. It is a plus when they have good equipment. When you die, you can just re-spawn, find a lee enfield, shoot a coward and take their better guns and equipment.
  18. Both are unreliable due to bugs in 1.7.2.5. Tents can only save in original states and vehicles will reappear in previous positions after restarts.
  19. I've found and repaired two Ural Civilians now, great trucks, but both times I've hid them they're gone by the next day... I hide them in obscure places and spend a lot of time doing so, so it's really frustrating... I hear about people who make bases out of their vehicles that actually last a long time but I've had zero luck every time... I save the vehicle like a dozen times before I leave it... Anyways I just want advice on areas that I can hide stuff, or how to actually make some progress lol... I've had Nightvision three times, GPS twice, silenced cco M4s.. tons of rare good loot, but I can't ever back any of it up for when I die, cause it's inevitable haha... I only play on low pop servers, like under 10 people, and I stillll run into hackers regularly.... Can anyone maybe suggest good servers? The thing is I've been told to go to newer servers for vehicles, because more are left to spawn and not stashed away by other players, but it's hard to find a new server with an established admin... Anyways I love this game, regearing isn't a big deal, it's just frustrating that there's nothing to work towards. I had my one Ural filled up with about a dozen guns including an AS50 ( I just don't really like carrying them around for general use... ) and I had like 25 cooked meat saved up at one point too in there, and like 10 water bottles shit like that, was starting to save up parts to repair other vehicles... Anyways, any advice is appreicated..

    Saving vehicles and tents.

I'm in a backwards situation for some. On my server stuff saves in tents perfectly fine. But putting stuff in any of our vehicles and then going through a server restart makes the stuff which was originally inside of it disappear and be replaced by the items which were inside the vehicle when we found it... Kinda frustrating when you're on your way back to base camp and BOOM! restarts your have to find your vehicle only to know anything you had is gone. Hell; we lost a whole vehicle because of it. Literally no where to be seen after we spent so much time fixing it... Fucking Alphas >_>

    What about adding AH-6X.

You should ask rocket to make a mod on top of the day-z mod, it can be filled with heaps of military vehicles and the whole point to it is to killed opposing players. I would like to suggest the name ARMA 2 for this day-z mod.
  22. I've been led to believe that tents are incredibly unreliable at holding loot though, vehicles seem to be the only option?
  23. Depends on the server. I used to play with a clan and the amount of action that happened with bases was insane. I honestly don't bother with vehicles, they are too big a target. If your going to make a "base" I seriously wouldn't put more than one tent up. Any more and your going to end up getting griefed. If you put more than one up, spread them out by like 3kms. Larger amounts tend to get "griefed" pretty quickly, whilst single tents seem to be left alone. People will find and tents or vehicles you have, its just a matter of time. The map is way too small to hide them. Although, one thing Ive noticed just recently and I don't know how they are doing it, but some people are pitching tents inside rocks. The just have the end of a tent pointing out of the rock whilst 90% is inside the rock. Probably the best hid tents in the game, wish I knew how to do it. Also this: I presume you know hackers can identify any tent/vehicle on the map. This is why I mostly only leave stuff in tents they don't want, like food and water. I carry the main things I don't want to lose with me.
  24. I'm with OP on this one. Zed's speed is still ridiculous and the only way to lose them is to run through a building, up ther hill, down a slope or just shoot them. Reducing zed's speed makes the animations less buggy and actually hitting them a bit less pain in the ass. Of course you can't just reduce zed's speed and just call it a day. You'll have to tweak the whole system to get it work right. First of make zed's punching animation reach a lot further and not to make them stop in their tracks (I know they sometimesdo this run by hit but you can still safely run away from them). Second thing is to make zed's more slow, maybe just a little bit faster than player running with W pressed, but still lower than player using double tapped W to sprint. Thridly introduce exhaustion when sprinting (note this would only affect double tapping sprint so you could still travel by foot). Also make sprinting bit faster and normal running just a little bit slower to create more difference between them. So in conclusion we would have a system where the sprinting (double tapping W) would be only used in life threatening situations like zed chasing you. You could out run it for a while, maybe even get enough distance to hide, but you could only keep on sprinting for a minute or so and your aim would shake extemely for next 20 seconds making aiming really hard. Also zeds would gain you slowly if you would only run (one press of W) but a less slower rate than currently. Running would still be unlimited to allow people lacking vehicles to travel across Chernarus.
  25. You know I understand it's an alpha. I understand the limitations of the engine. But frankly I thought the addition of dogs was a bit weak... Feels more like something you'd add onto the wish list to complete. What this game has been needing for a long time is a good end game. Something to do with your time after you've got app the vehicles, weapons, equipment. Yes tents are broken - but I haven't died once legitimately in the last 5 deaths! All from hackers. That rare gear I spent hours and hours finding? Gone in seconds even though I'm careful. Tents we're the only thing equalizing the hackers. I feel the lack of an end game kills this mod. It's fun for the first 20/40 or even 60 hours - but then what? The replay capabilities become stale because you know you'll die at some point, probably to hackers and just have to restart all over again. For me I like to play this game largely avoiding other players, challenging myself to stay alive as long as I can. But after 5 days? Nothing left to do... Once this game gets some sort of end game I'll be back. I think that's what the main problem is now - more then hackers/dupers/bugs etc is the chronic lack of endgame.
