1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.

I encounter the same problem on our server, the vehicles return to their spawn every day, and when this is not the case they are replaced by other, mostly by bike (today is UAZ and VS3 one we just lost) and every day the server crashes and must be restarted! ! We tried to get the serv. in 1.7.2.4 but now no more vehicles is avaialble on the map! we do not know what to do, and if not Dayzmod.com we will eventually just stop playing! because tired to start each day! ! ! The game is tempered by these problems ! ! ! -

So your suggesting a cover up or a file and forget approach no this is not the solution. This is a problem that happens in almost every game that is online. I have encountered a few hackers not a whole lot maybe been killed 4 times in my total time of playing and I play often. The problem isn't as bad as I see everyone here complaining about maybe you have been unlucky or like to stick to high pop servers but I have only been thunder domed once met one invisible hacker yes I have seen quite a few hackers creating weapons and vehicles but have not been killed by them. I think it would harm the game more if you joined the game got killed by hackers and when you posted in the forums about it you just got locked and ignored. That's would exclude and anger players more what the mods are doing right now is perfect taking proof acting on it locking whine threads and in the background the devs are working on solutions not to mention battleye working to ban as many as they can. While your thinking in the right way save the mod and the standalone your approach in my opinion is wrong. -

they're not used on tanks. the bullet can't exactly penetrate a tank's armor, they're used on lightly armored vehicles and equipment. they are effective ways of stopping vehicles in dayz, rather than just emptying magazines at them -

If they really want to make this game for everyone, and get more players to play I really think in the stand alone version they should let the server have more control over customization. Now servers could stick to the regular, as the players would obviously let them know what they want or think is best. Changing the percentages of items that spawn, and maybe even where such as vehicles, weapons, gear, ect. This could determine how far along the break out is, with having more or less stuff. (Also change game play.) Maybe have a max percentage of how many of something can spawn as to not make servers ridiculous. Any ways, this would take a lot more elaborating on, but it may appeal to a percentage of players that want something different. (And no it's not 0%!) :P -
Making a base, how stable can it be?

If you use a "remote" location your tent and or vehicles will likely get robbed as the remote locations are obvious/well known. Longest lasting untouched tent I had was under a bridge outside a town. -
NE corner of the map camps and vehicles abound on many servers found a Bus and a Boat up that end last night

Up North first 2~3 large squares , from East To West, odds are you can have all the vehicles in one camp by the end of the day.

You didn't buy the DayZ alpha, you bought a fully functional game, to play a slightly functional mod. That's different from buying the standalone in Alpha, which will get proper support, as the reason the standalone exists, is because the mod simply can't progress in it's current state, being very limited in what it can accomplish, such as stamping out hacks, properly implementing weapons and vehicles, etc... -

Vehicles and tents all work fine at Lingor :) No graphical glitches either -
i think there should generally more then only 1 active vehicle (buses, trucks and helis) ingame. there should be 2 - 3 (maybe 4) of those vehicles, generally spread over chenarus, so you still have to search everywhere, but at least a bit more people can find one, or steal one from another group.

Yeah, Leon is trying to sort the time issue out, my eyes are now round and green due to the amount of night playing we have been doing. When Leon got it set back to daylight, the server was 75% filled in no time at all which made the play a lot more fun. We have seen a lot of activity with regards to the vehicles lately too, I have been hunting for a motorbike for 2 weeks now and not found one but yesterday 2 bicycles and a motorbike were spotted on the coast, a jeep and 2 cars were seen racing about and the chopper was spotted heading North so it was busy. The SVD camo might have been my brothers, but i think his other half banned him off game last night so i will phone him later and see if he wants it back, if not enjoy it..:) -

Ive been playing a couple of months now. Ive found just about every weapon and item and been to all corners of the map, pinched and found vehicles, never got a chopper (but im crap at flying anyway). And im still playing although its dwindling fast. The reasons? Getting killed is definatly a part of it, im sick of the PvP element whose only recourse is to kill another player, admittedly im more of a PvE player and i will only fight when challenged i let people pass by without killing them. But it clearly seems society doesn't think this way, to them its better to have an As50 and hide in the woods ( i struggle to see what you get out of this kind of gameplay, when do you actually experience the game hiding and sniping on a hill with duped ammo and guns) On a fresh start, I had a bloke on DC once say nothing in that building as i entered so i went elswhere then he snuck up behind me and started to axe me ?? wtf.. Don't get me wrong i don't mind getting killed if we have started an assault on an airfield or prison and we die in a battle that's fine because the death was worth the gain we receive if we survive as a team, but to have a team slaughtered by an unknown assailant in a ghillie and sniper gun in the middle of nowhere? But i guess that's better than running in cherno asking to get shot. The graphics failures and weak zombies and many of the other seemingly unfixable faults are definatly killing it as well. Hackers and the usual are another part of problem Ive faithfully reported all the faults and bugs i found on the dev section not that it seems anyone has ever read them. Ive played both Chernarus and Lingor Island and liked both. I really hope the devs listen to all the comments and read all the posts when they build the retail version as im not really sure they do. Yes of course they have the path that they are laying out that we cannot see but hopefully they realise they need the community as well. (of late it doesn't seem that way) There are many ways to play the game but worryingly it seems we are going to end up with nothing but PvP in the end even though it was a promising start. Hopefully the powers that be will re-balance the gameplay somehow. Jaded..... but i have enjoyed a lot of it ps im sure there will be some abuse as is common on these forums but im just posting my thoughts whether you agree or not

So according to the OP excuses everyone playing this game has the "right" to hack it due to bugs, bandits etc. And if you don't thunderdome, global kill or explode a full city then it's ok to hack, even when that gives you the upper hand due to weapons, equipment, vehicles and invincibility. This sentence sums it up for me: "After that, my goal was to try some roleplay, like taking players in hostages, but no matter what it always ended in dumb gunfights." You don't ruin the experience for anyone? And if they try to kill before dying then it is a dumb gunfight? OP, you don't make sense and besides that, you don't make sense. -
I agree there should be 3 Helicopters but they should not spawn in airfields, as these locations are already camped by snipers (or they will be once tents and duping is fixed) and the best loot in the game should not be in the same place as the best vehicles. Skalinksy Island is a good location for one, as there isn't any other reason to go there and getting there is a risky venture that usually requires a team effort (you can solo repair the chopper but it takes serious prep). Make the other spawn points random or so dangerous you'd need backup. So I think there is a spawn on top of the hospital in Cherno, and that is a good call because you stand a very good chance of being shot trying for that chopper. Also, we don't need new weapons to deal with helicopters. One good headshot on the pilot and everyone in the chopper is dead, plus they can be shot to pieces quiet easily with an enfield, or one shot from a .50 cal. I would say the chopper should not be able to fly without being fully repaired. This would mean you'd need a team to repair it.

Banned on RU 17 and many other RU servers

I was banned yesterday on RU 17, later I found out that I am actually banned on many more RU servers including RU 13. RU 16, RU 11, RU 20, RU 7, RU 18, maybe there are more. What happened: I spawned freshly near Kamenka and went straight for the north, along the way I found a tent from which I took few items (pretty much everything one could need but no "hacked in" items). I continued going on my way up north and eventually my character started to feel thirsty so I stopped and used a soda can (Cola). I am not sure if what happened next was somehow related to that cola can, probably it was just a coincidence. The moment my character drank it he was transported to some location where there were no ground, just the sky and a message box popped up telling me that I was kicked because of "BattlEye: CreateVehicle Restriction #3". At this point I immediately took a screenshot, here is it: It is in Russian but I am sure that it is pretty clear what is displayed there. The text in the message box says "You were kicked" and the white message below says "You consumed a soda can (Cola)". After this incident I logged back in and went along my way. About five minutes passed and another message box popped up stating that I was banned (BattlEye: Admin Ban). No explanation of any sort was given. After this I could no longer log in to RU 17 and multiple other RU servers, getting this Admin Ban message every time I tried. At this point I created this thread in Russian section of this forum, later it was locked and a moderator advised me to post in this thread which I did explaining the situation pretty much as I did here, but no reaction of any sort has followed. I have never used any cheats or hacks in this game (nor in any other game that I can remember of) and I certainly was not trying to create any vehicles, I just followed my path north, I have traveled hundreds of kilometers on foot in this game and surely don't mind walking mere 5-8 kilometers more, so even if I thought that it was ok to cheat (which I didn't), there were really no point for me to create any vehicles. As I see it now I was banned for nothing just because an admin felt like banning someone and they didn't give any explanation of why they banned me. Sorry for the long post, I am just trying to describe what happened, just in case there could be some important details that could prove my innocence. -
Standalone - Map ideas, Horror Aspects & Special Infected.

Please take your time to read ALL of this before you comment: No special infected, this is not Left4Dead, and so on. DayZ is a zombie game yet the only time you'll ever be scared shitless is when you're getting shot at. Zombies are now only a nuisance. Now my idea includes "special" infected. No, not like the ones in Left4Dead, but just something simple, not overpowered, not playable, and not anything outside the concept of DayZ. And still keeping DayZ authentic. So, first the new DayZ map SHOULD be in Russia or the Ukrain, same region as Chernarus. No, I'm not russian but if the DayZ standalone map is in Russia it just keeps the authenticity in DayZ. Also, a map like Chernarus or something similar suits DayZ perfectly, for instance: It's city's arnt too large that it turns into a massive murder fest, and be able to find a gun anwhere. Think about it, if your city has a shopping mall then chances are it will be in an industrial area i.e major city. DayZ is a game where it is more fitted to being out into the country, therefor making vehicles more useful and valuable. And ofcourse a large city wont be near any forests or out in the country. So you can hide any vehicles you've found in thick forests. Now onto the Horror/Special infected. There is nothing scary about the current DayZ map (Chernarus) simply because that map was designed for arma2, a war zone, not a zombie apocalypse. So my idea is that we could have a few parts of the map where there are grave yards or haunted locations. Now a few people would be thinking, how about green mountain? Yeah well theres nothing dramatic about it, except the fact it reads co-ordinates of deer stands. But if you had a medium-large thick, dark, foggy, forrest, and in the middle of it is a grave yard or some shit scary location then it would be scary as fuck to go in there. Now comes in the "special" infected. Once you enter the dark forrest, there is a rare chance you could encounter some sort of super kind of zombie. They could maybe have a little bit more heath than regurlars, not too much. No special attacks, such as vomiting on you from behind, or strangling you with their massive tongue from 50 meters away. But what features it could have is to be able to stalk you, it hides behind trees or cover as it follows you. And when you stop to eat or something it strikes. My other idea is that when it detects you, it screams, alerts every zombie in your location. Though, when you aggro a zombie, every zombie within 30-50 meters is also trying to rip your face off. But this would happen on a much larger scale. Ofcourse it's all up to the Devs, and what you, the community wants. Another idea is.. Hospitals! Some of the most scariest games are usually set in hospitals. DayZ should have much larger hospitals, making finding supplies a little harder, and more scary. Things to consider: Blood trails, zombie patients. Instead of just shooting a few panes of glass, or throwing bottles at them and then just grabbing a few supplies then leaving. You should have to check rooms for blood bags and other medical supplies. (found in draws & cupboards.) Rocket mentioned in a Rezzed session of a zombie life cycle, which is a zombie that is kind of human like, but gradually turns into a zombie. I was thinking that maybe it could be linked with the special infected, after the zombie has reached its end of the cycle it could turn into the "special" infected. Ofcourse you wont be able to see that many special inftected in the game, but it adds a twist to how they got there and what they will eventually all turn into. http://www.google.co...,r:10,s:0,i:104 Another idea, if these special inftected were introduced into DayZ, they would only spawn in scary locations e.i haunted castle, graveyard or dark misty/foggy woods. But we already have a system that records how many zombie kills, murders, and bandit kills on our debug moniter. If this special infected was introduced into DayZ it could also be recorded on the debug moniter, e.i Demon kills: 3. Ofcourse they wouldent be called demons but you get the point. Conclusion: Lastly, a few of you might be thinking, whats the point of having foggy, scary/haunted areas? High chance of helicopter crash sites ofcourse! Not too higher chance, but you're more likely to find a crash site in dark foggy woods rather than in the middle of the country side. And it makes survivors/bandits have to work a little bit harder to get better weapons at helicopter crash sites. Please comment, and let me know what you think :D- 32 replies

Execute script. Script checks if vehicles are present. Script gets the current position of said vehicle(s), if any. Script changes that position to an offset from the player's position. Or simply create new. Scripters can do pretty much anything. They can create anything from ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: OA. Then can move intractable objects. They can change objects from one to another (Players models. Remember goats?) Then can REMOVE models but keep their position. (Invisible hackers and weapons.) -
