  1. Hi just need some input please To Rollback to version 1.7.2.4 with the new security patch installed = 1. Tents all save plus the gear 2. Vehicles all save including chopper Not to rollback and stay with Version 1.7.2.5 = 1. No Tent saves gear, but the tents stay empty after a restart :( 2. Vehicles don't save, which means each time the server restarts you have to do the same thing over and over again 3. the only good thing is, each time the server is restarted the chopper and all the cars re-spawn So what to do? Are there anymore bugs in version 1.7.2.4 then there is in 1.7.2.5 Any help please i want to roll back but im not sure of the negative side of things Thanks PainKiller

    Does sniping need a nerf?

    Simple solution, fix tents, fix vehicles, Wipe hive, Wipe servers. Done. This is very unlikely to happen anytime soon but meh. No more, every crazy sniper has an AS50/M107. However I will say this, you don't want to be shot by a 50. cal? Play at night. Guess what guns do not work with NVG. Snipers do not need a to be turned into NERF guns. They need to be rarer, and the ammo needs to be rarer. Due to the mod item storage being broken at the moment, they are not rare. There are so many gameplay issues that would be taken care of if they fixed the damn tents and vehicles. I personally like snipers, it is such a justified feeling of awesome whenever you sneak up on one and end his existence. The problem is that due to duping he simply runs to his tent, and goes out again within 60 minutes. But that is besides the point.
  3. It couldn't have been that simple. He was kicked from the server for doing one of those events. Someone said to me after I banned him, that they were flying the helicopter. The server didn't restart from when after I banned him. There is no possible way for him to crash it, or him to even have the helicopter. When I got to my base, every vehicle was blown up. Others on the server also complained about their vehicles were blown up.

Denalb US1 Chicago (v1.7.2.5/build 96061) [Private Hive|Veteran|CH:ON|3DP:ON] Only Daytime - Hosted by Denalb With all of the craziness that 1.7.2.5 and scripting has brought, I want to give everyone a second option. I created a 50 player server using a private hive for anyone to play on. Remember, with a private hive, your character will not save to other servers. You will be forced to play on my server if you want to play the same character you create on my server. Some advantages to this are: No server hopping/ghosting. Local bans to cheaters/scripters without the need to justify on the DayZ forums. Always Daytime so nightvision goggles/gamma aren't required for US players who play at night. More vehicles! I've added plenty of vehicles to share including two helicopters for some nice air battles. Vehicles and Tents save! Thats right. Inventories, locations, you name it, it saves. Two choppers, 1 SUV, and about 50 other vehicles to find and use! I created new random spawns for most vehicles. If a vehicle is deemed out of bounds/is destroyed on a server restart, the vehicle will be reset back to its original spawn point. Less lag/desync as the hive is local to my server and not being flooded by thousands of servers. New spawn locations on the east coast to help newcomers explore the northeast part of the map. Moved the southwest spawns further east to help new spawns get to the major cities without running for 45 minutes. *Future Update*Out of bounds prevention. Players/Vehicles will die/explode when crossing over to out of bounds. This will also help those who may spawn out there. *Possible Update in the Future* Alt+F4 prevention. If I see enough requests for it, I am also willing to modifiy your starting equipment if it isn't outrageous. (I was thinking about giving players some food/water and a hatchet). I may also provide a teamspeak server if I get enough requests for it. So come try it out. It will be up 24/7. It will be fast loading with minimal lag. I will also be able to admin it a lot better due to some extra protection I have installed for script kiddies and hackers.     I would vote, but due to un-finished product or atleast updated to work correctly and better then it does turns me away. Don't get me wrong I love the game but it needs worked on to the stand-alone is a huge deal but the mod needs attention as well. Graphics need fixed, saving of tents, inventory, vehicles the list could go on for hours.....Release a working mod and I will vote. Till then good luck!

  7. Problem: As it stands it is difficult if not impossible to secure a camp/base/storage place for your items. Tents/vehicles are easily spotted within a few days even on lightly-used servers, and player "progression" in the game is stifled - not from the inability to survive, but from the inability to secure one's collected goods from thieves. Solution #1: Implement a new tool - shovel. You can use the shovel to dig hidden stashes (in the ground) to store items. To make the creation of hidden stashes more difficult (and to make them more valuable) implement a new consumable item called "Plastic Sheet" (or whatever) that will be used to line the hidden stash and protect your items. When creating a hidden stash a player will look at a spot in the dirt, use the shovel to dig the hole, and then lay down (and consume) 1 Plastic Sheet. The player will cover the hole with dirt/leaves to make it blend in and harder to see, BUT it will appear somewhat different than the surrounding terrain. This will be MUCH harder than spotting a tent or vehicle and a more secure (but NOT completely secure) means of item storage and gear protection. Solution #2: Implement a COMPLETELY secure means of storing items, but rarer and harder to deploy than a Hidden Stash. Such secure means could be footlockers with locks that could spawn in loot piles. The footlocker would take up a large amount of inventory slots until "deployed" - the player sets it up (like a tent) and it is linked to that player, but unlike a tent ONLY the player that it is linked to can open it. Solution #3: The most complicated/complex solution I am currently thinking of - create a way for survivors to build cabins in the woods using the hatchet to cut down trees for lumber and use new tools (saw, hammer) and new consumables like nails to construct a secure cabin with a lock on the door. I'm not sure if this would be a good type of addition for DayZ or not, because it would definitely alter the gameplay, but it is a possible solution nonetheless.
  8. HI there! :) Last night the 29/8 at 20:00 paris time me and my friend were driving around with a UAZ and ATV. Suddenly the server we were playing on - Norway 11 Hosted by Sons Of Anarchy - disconnected us (probably a rs) without a warning, so we lost the vehicles. Now we're stranded without food, water and heatpacks. With other words, we're good as dead without any help. Would be really sad if we'd loose everything now. So please, is there anyone out there who can help us out? Or know some of the admins on the Norway 11 server? Sincerely humaN
  9. I want you to stay on topic because you are notorious for claiming victory about things that are not relevant to the topic at hand. I thought it was clear. I never stated that what I said was always on topic initially, but I can guarantee you that I haven't said anything further on it. 1. And I never disputed this (show me where I have, please.) I simply stated that having less vehicles leads to less losses. 2. His losses would not have been worse. He would've spent less time tediously gathering parts only to lose all that effort. Let's say that he put 2 hours into repairing a jeepand he has ten of them. Let's say he loses eight. That means he spent twenty hours getting parts and sixteen hours were thrown away because those vehicles are now gone. Assuming that he has three other friends to play with, that means he needs a grand total of ten one jeep to transport everyone, but of course backups are needed to he has an additional three in reserve. So what if he loses those three? He only loses six hours. This is ten hours less than the hours lost if he lost 8 out of ten, which means he can spend ten hours replacing those vehicles lost...which only takes about 6 hours if he replaces all three. Therefore, he loses four hours less than he normally would by having less vehicles (but only if we assume that the OP won't replace the 8 missing vehicles. If he does replace the vehicles, then the OP would take an even smaller loss by replacing those vehicles.) 3. I've already addressed that your claim was wrong (if you had read my posts you'd know this), but I really want you to admit that you were wrong. I have not contested your quote, only that you have not proven that I am jealous nor admitted to being wrong. I hope that making it stand out helps. In your third statement, you only provided evidence that you acknowledged the possibility of being wrong. However, you have yet to admit to being wrong about that claim- I urge that you prove that I am jealous or admit that your assumption is baseless and incorrect. You have shown zero evidence that I am jealous, and therefore I can continue pressing this point until you prove your point or retract it.

    The way I see it the M107 and as50 should be removed from the mod, there are no requirements for anti-material rifles since all vehicles in DayZ are easily disabled by shooting out wheels/the driver. There is absolutely no requirement for sniper rifles that insta-kill with extremity shots, they're just a crutch for bad snipers who can't compensate for range and bullet drop; just aim centre of mass and fire for a guaranteed kill no matter where you hit them. Skilled marksmen use the regular rifles. wannabees who upload "420 no scope sick frag" videos on youtube use the as50.

    Is Cherno even a good looting spot?

    I've found so much high end gear on bodies in and around Cherno. I love getting my adrenaline pumping running through Cherno dodging all the m107 rounds fired from ~800m out. Or the idiots with pistols trying to kill you. Or vehicles trolling the streets honking. It's rarely boring.
  12. Hey everyone, my IGN is chiah obviously. Anyways me and my buddies have been playing Dayz for the past few days on one life. We have put around 20 hours into these accounts and they're lives where all ended tragically by some stupid stupid incident. Basically we were ghillie suit heros and we just started playing this decent server with 10 to 20 people on at all times. Well... we really did score. Why on the server we found a AS50, and 3 Vehicles and a boat! Thats crazy right? Well we decided hmm we should go make a camp. We take off on the vehicles, me having a off road pickup, one of my friends having a UAZ, and my last friend have a van. We started driving... We reach this tiny town and out pops 3 players with only lee enfields? I try to run them over but they like get a direct head shot on me and all my friends... It was probably the worst Dayz experience i have ever had... Haha What would you guys do if this happened to you?

    havent had any luck finding vehicles, but i did manage to run towards a downramp (on the second floor) of a barn and instead of going down the ramp i proceeded to jump clean off the edge and fall to my ultimate demise.. when i was still in midair, i was already yelling at my puter screen cuz i knew what was coming.. GRRR !!!!
  14. Even the most ardent deniers of the severity of the hacking problem now need to admit, the game is literally unplayable at this point. If you play for more than an hour without dying to a hacker nuking the entire server, you're incredibly lucky. Private hives are an option, but still in no way immune, there's just too many hackers to ban them all. This is fine though, the devs can focus on the standalone release and hopefully get it out before xmas time. I just really wish people would stop bitching about updates, "give us updates!!!!!!!!!!!!11", who cares? Does it REALLY MATTER at this point if the graphical artefacts aren't fixed? Does it really matter that people can combat log? Does it really matter that tents don't save or vehicles don't stay where you put them? Does it matter that the bandit system is just as broken as ever? No, it doesn't matter one little bit. In my opinion, the devs shouldn't even waste time trying to patch up the mod, it's like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic at this point.

    I believe rocket already said something along the lines of more vehicle customization when it comes to standalone. We may end up seeing a 'portion', or at least a set standard, as to what can be done with vehicles. Please don't quote me on whether it will actually happen or not; I just remember hearing him talk about adding more features to vehicles then what is currently in the system.
  17. There was a thread a few weeks ago about a clan searching for the chopper on their server and finding it underwater. I've been searching for it, but I can't remember the title. It was very detailed, but the jist of it was possibly removing the server from the hive, and recreating it. Essentially it would be a server wipe, with all tents deleted and vehicles respawned to default. Think of it as changing the server ID or something along those lines. I'm not too familiar with how DayZ servers work, so I can't be precise-sorry. If you can find the thread it would be a great help to you in figuring out the next course of action. Blowing it up doesn't do a damn thing. It was a DE sever thread, but it was written in fairly good English. The posts were long and very detailed, and I recommend trying to find it- Sorry i can't be much help.

  19. For the patch. Artifacts -> Tents -> Vehicles. The trifecta of what is utterly broken right now. As for other comments, gear expiring is an awful idea. I was killed three times yesterday (artifacts+zombies, twice bandits), twice i got back to the body and nothing was looted. I consider collecting loot from when own dead body fair (forgiving how strange that sounds) when a ghille m4sd player sneaks up on the car i'm fixing and doesn't take a single item from my corpse. The other time my clan picked up my gear because I was playing a specifc role with a specifc item. Someone gave me a toolbox (yeah can't find more than one it seems) to infiltrate the area and clear the wire. IRL if someone goes down with vital gear you'd grab it off the corpse. If someone passes your gear over and you make it back to it good for you. A body that dissapears (without hiding it) makes no sense. And to MurQ, wire, bags, tank traps stay. Get a toolbox. If someone goes the lengths to make a fortress let them. Snip it down in 30 seconds.
  20. As the title says, I'm looking to trade for your SVD Camo with at least 4 mags, more would be better. I'm offering, either my AS50 with 5 Nato Rounds, and 3 M107 Clips, OR my M4A1 CCO SD with 5 Stanag SD Mags. This is all I have to offer as I'm solo with no tents or vehicles and don't have a stack of gear hiding for me anywhere. SVD Camo is the only thing I'm interested in. I currently have over 13k Humanity, looking for other heroes to trade with. If interested just reply and we will figure out a way to get in contact.

    I can see your point ont he lack of communication lately, but on the flip side it is a small development team that has been understandably busy in the last month. They announce a standalone and started working on it this month, they attend Gamescon, they are currently at PAX, and they are from a small company. How many times can you hear people complain about tents and vehicles (it sucks sure, but at the same time it is still in development and is not supposed to be a polished product) or graphic glitches before you just hunker down and start working on the fixes. What do you want them to say, "we are working on it" when anyone with common sense knows they are both aware of these problems and working on these problems. I am starting to think Rocket messed up by allowing the alpha to stay open and saying it will receive periodic patches during the lead up to the standalone. If they had pulled the plug or just said this is what you have and handed it over to the community people would have just waited for the standalone, but since they pledged some support they are now burdened with hundreds of whine threads everyday by those who think this mod should be priority number one. Many of us see the potential and many of my friends have come back to the game after a couple week break, while the others are waiting for the standalone. I still find this rough product fun but if you do not take a break and read the reviews when it comes out as a polished product, hackers and bugs will continue to be problem for the mod so if it is too frustrating just hang it up for awhile. Most of the community is mature enough to understand that the developers are focusing most of their attention on the actual game that will be released and we are also hoping for some new features that increase the ways to play this game while not breaking the immersion.

I have had three ideas about vehicles that i think would be really good to add; Locking vehicles: Locking your car etc. would be extremely cool, so people cannot just find your car etc. and be off with it, you can lock it with keys you find in the gear, these keys would be specific to that vehicle, plus the keys would be needed to start the car. (Probably alot of you are going to be moaning about how it would be unfair not to take someone's vehicle, so for those people read down more), the keys, if stored in the inventory would take up one tool-belt slot. Stealing vehicles: Ok so if the keys are implemented there has to be a way to take a vehicle without them (obviously you could just kill the driver and loot the keys off him/her), Ok so basically you would have the option to smash the window of the vehicle so that you can open the door from the inside (this would also make you loose blood, say 200-300 due to you using your fist/elbow to smash the window, also you would have to use new piece glass to repair the window), once inside you would have to hotwire the car to make it start (maybe have a chance that you will fail to hotwire the car and you will have to start again) the process would take some time to do, so this would also be a minus, but this would balance out the fact that you don't have the keys and would make the keys more precious, I.e. being quicker and doesn't make you loose blood. Closing doors on aircraft: Ok so say the huey is in the stand alone or something like it with the guns hanging out the side and doors, well i think that the pilot should have the ability to close them so that passengers in the back are less likely to be shot, this would obviously take away the ability for gunners and with the huey, if the doors were to close you could not fit anyone in the gap that remains, so it would decrease the amount of players it can hold (if it was like the Chinook for example closing the door would do noting to the carrying capacity unless the Chinook has a MG on the back which would become obsolete due to the door being closed). EDIT:The doors would only be able to be closed when no-one is sitting in the gunner positions I would like to know thoughts on my ideas, any more features suggested i can add to this making the post more tidy :3

    Please check into server US 422 the admins have been banning people with out reason and hacking items into the game. The admin names are Jared / Deraj, Sledge, Crazy. They are constantly bringing choppers into the game and setting up camps with duplication tents and self repairing vehicles.

    Server hopping.

    I understand Rocket's vision with a persistent character between worlds, but I don't think it works with the small amount of people on one server. If he had servers (or shards) where you could have 1000s of players at once then I think it would work a lot better to have a character that is locked to that server/shard. Because of how crappy the server code is - having to be continually reset the server, tents/vehicles not appearing, small amount of players, servers going down for hours/days, etc. you can't have characters locked to a server. That means you have to be able to server hop in some form. I personally think, and I've recommended this before, that you should be able to server hop as often as you want, unless you are within X meters of another player/zombie or have the shock icon (looted something recently as well?) - throw in logout timers or something then. If you're off by yourself in the middle of the forest, who really cares if you server hop.

    Two suggestions: map and the economy.

    right now every player has every possible resource available to them. if there was some currency (beans, coins, or whatever) you could sell your skills / unique inventory. right now there is so much PKing because the players themselves are worthless - the gear is the currency. Maybe this stems from the ARMA soldier just having all the skills right away. but a regular 'survivor' would not know how to maintain automatic weapons nor skin animals, fix a broken limb, fix vehicles, etc. getting paid to taxi people around, to heal them, to trade goods & services, would rock. Only the truly dedicated survivor could live completely on their own and they have to help dozens of people to be able to get to that level.
