Great server, tons of vehicles, easy to get around. Excellent ping, loading in instantly, never seen a hacker on the server for more than 30 seconds. -
How long do cars last, and what is considered "off map?"

I recently hid a car and a tractor in the far northwest corner of the map. I was under the impression that "off map" would be any area that is off of the in game map, and doesn't have proper foliage. The area in which I hid my vehicles was most certainly on the in game map, but north of the area shown by any of the loot maps. The issues I am about to describe could very well be server problems. I hid the car and tractor, then disconnected. The next day I rejoined the same server, only to find that my tractor had been moved about 20 feet south and the car was nowhere to be seen. However, I seriously doubt anyone stole the car or moved the tractor, as my tent (which was in plain view of both vehicles) had nothing missing (there was an M14 AIM in it among other things, and there was plenty of room in the car and tractor to take the gun if it had been stolen). I went down the road to the south, where I finally found the car parked at 16 22, which (interestingly) is on the loot map. The tractor and car were both saved in their hiding spot at about the same time, so I don't understand why one moved MUCH further than the other. Today (a few days later) I spawned in my camp again, only to find the car gone again. This time the tractor did not move at all, but it was SEVERELY damaged. Before the tractor had green for every component, but now it has deep red for everything except the wheels. I walked down the road, and the car was nowhere to be found. This leads me to believe that it was destroyed by the 24 hour "off map" timer. It could very well have just been a server glitch, but the fact that the tractor was almost destroyed in a single day seems to indicate to me that it was indeed this anti hoarding measure. Anyway, I would be interested to know what Rocket considers "off map" if that was indeed what happened here. Is it anything that reads "wilderness" when you spawn in (which seems to include the ocean near cherno sometimes, among other on map locations) or is it areas that are obviously outside the map (with no foliage)? My vehicles were hidden just north of the bend near the Grozovy pass. They were within 100 meters of both a house that spawned zombies and a main road, in an area with dense foliage. This led me to believe that they were still on the map. Was I wrong? Did Rocket change it so cars decay after 24 hours even when they are on map? Just to be clear this is not a whining or complaining thread; I know if I get attached to my gear I am "going to have a bad time." I realize this is an Alpha and I am just trying to determine if this is a bug or an intended feature. -

I hope the chopper spawns at its respective spawn point and not where you last saved it. Honestly, spawning at the last known save point is a bug and i hope it was fixed to keep people from hording vehicles. -
So yeah, we needed a vehicle, we were at factory gathering some loot for a van we spotted and I decided we should set up a trap incase anyone drove through. I figured since most vehicles slow down on grass, we should run them onto the grass. Then Craig would kill the driver, run and hide. And I'd kill any passengers that got out. insolentfool - Staying true to your name. "Destroyed vehicles will respawn in the same location with the same gear on server restart on any server vehicles are working normally", as of 1.7.2.6 that is no longer true.

It's a great mod and completely worth it about 2 months ago but with all the hacking lately. It has really made the game unplayable. 75% of my deaths have been due to hacking. Its a great experience if you don't mind being teleported to the center of the map and killed or if you enjoy a invulnerable player running around shooting your buddies then taking your vehicles or having the fear (thrill) of looting a hacker's corpse and getting banned for having a hacked item by accident. If you don't mind that then the game is really amazing experience.

There are many classes of zombies in DayZ, you know them all by skins. There are military, civilians ( like doctors, village dudes, guys in suits), etc. Hunters are those guys in black jackets and 'russian' bear hats. About hotfix : - Debug UI option is bugged, it applies a new inlay on icons and doesn't update them when needed. So you might start bleeding -from starvation and wont notice because the icons are still green. - For some odd reason vehicles after server restart spawn without fuel ( confirmed on 3 different vehicles ... atleast they didnt vanish :P) - I don't know if its happening on other servers but on my regular (US 571) all the boats, and about 5/6 bicycles were moved ( just after server restart - Iam sure it wasnt cheaters doing ) to one inland spot near Chernogorsk.

so much ignorance. Destroyed vehicles will respawn in the same location with the same gear on server restart on any server vehicles are working normally. Also any vehicles saved off the map return to spawn after 24 hours. I have gathered many vehicles, as after hundreds of hours playing its one of the "end game" type activities you can do. A coodinated crew of half a dozen can easily own 10 vehicles. It has its own limiting factors though. Any camps with that many cars is easy as hell to spot. You can spread your investment over multiple locations but that actually increases the chance of one of them getting found. Imagine you come back to camp and 1 car is missing.... do you have any idea how long it can take 2-3 people to move 6 cars 2+ k's away? Every time you leave the base you risk not bringing back the car. Attrition begins to add up. Quad bikes can be flipped... cars can be crashed.. choppers are risky as hell due to hackers wanting to shoot you down in AA tanks (usually how we lose ours). When we get bored and drive down to cherno/electro for some action we only get the car back 1/2 the time. The only reason people complain about vehicle hoarding is they don't have the patience to go do what the hoarders do... go looking for them instead of just using a lootmap and going to their spawn. Give me 2-3 hours and ill find a vehicle guaranteed. Give me 1 hour and a pushbike and ill find several. Once you have 1 all the rest come faaaaaaaaar easier. Want a vehicle? Make some friends. 3-4 people can search the north end of the map in an hour on foot, checking all the best spots for bases.

I blow them up. I hate seeing one guy with all the vehicles. I know it's a very obama-like mentality, but that mentality at least works in video games.

Servers Rolling Back from 1.7.2.6?

Thanks for the info. My main server just came back online updated and sure enough my vehicles are gone, not that it was necessarily scripters. My other favored servers have all reverted. -
I have fixed and saved the same car twice but they keep respawning broken...

if you are on 1.7.2.5, vehicles and tents are bugged. -
You don't find hoarded vehicles. Hoarding isn't taking every vehicle and hiding them under a tree, it's taking every vehicle far enough off the map to make it nearly impossible to reach alive without a vehicle and extra fuel. I wouldn't call stacking vehicles within map hoarding because they will be found within a day or so.

There's a hack that was released a couple days back that is undetected by battle eye atm, which allows people to take all vehicles, etc. take them to one spot and do what they will. Which isn't a big deal on 1.7.2.5 since they'll revert back upon a restart, but in 1.7.2.6 the saving is fixed, so if this hack occurs, and someone teleports all vehicles to, say, skalisty, destroys them all, then your whole server is without vehicles for a week. Just teleported all vehicles to his location around 7:12pm EST. He was with friends because I could hear them thanking him for the helicopter I happened to be in. Hopefully an admin reads this.

is there a changelog? I don't even see the changelog on it yet lol.. but if it fixes vehicle and tent disappearing and the glitch.. that would rock! I already updated, now just waiting on the servers I play to update as well. nm found it on dayzwiki.com not too much was changed but awesome they fixed the main important things in my eyes, the glitch and the saves of the vehicles and tents. Changelog: [NEW] Bear trap has chance to spawn on infected hunters [FIXED] Graphical glitches with dead bodies (Bodies should now not display graphical glitches) [NEW] Three UI options available: Default (indicators only), Debug (indicators + debug window), None (only base ArmA2 UI) [FIXED] Converting between magazine types resets ammo count (Now only contains previous number of rounds) [FIXED] Vehicle and tents not saving (Now they save correctly)

You may want to hold off on 1.7.2.6 until this new hack is detected

Absolutely agreed. The only reason I felt the need to mention this particular hack is BattlEye's amazing turnaround time last time (just under 24 hours). If delaying the update to 1.7.2.6 by 24 hours for my server saves out on losing vehicles for 7 days, it's worth it. But yeah, for sure, I'll be updating tomorrow regardless for the weekend. I'm just in no rush right now given the new release of the hack today. Not every server admin is in my position though, and it doesn't make sense for everyone to hold back to 1.7.2.5 Some people are really confused about the fact that there are two software packages related to DayZ. Hive 0.7.4 DayZ 1.7.2.6 The confusion has lead to people calling it all sorts of version numbers. They are unique software packages and their versions should be mentioned independently (as above). However, Hive 0.7.4 only works with DayZ 1.7.2.6 and Hive 0.7.3 is required for DayZ 1.7.2.5. -
Vehicles seem to have an increased spawn rate and zombies appear to spawn (1) more quickly and (2) in larger batches. Woo hoo, just had a great drive around Chernarus on a variety of vehicles. If you added more vehicles Rocket, you have done the world a favour. This cries for "drive by" shootings implementation in stand alone, longer term. Separately, the old graphics glitch triangles are gone. I only experienced one new graphics glitch. In a 2-seater white pickup truck, heading north to south past the Electro power station, I hit a glitch for about 5-10 seconds. Similar to the looks of the old one, but smaller more acute triangles and spiralling in colour and black and white and was showing triangles of day even though it was around 9 PM game time at night. So, after a solid 4 hours of play tonight, just the one glitch. Halleluiah!

Everyone is probably tired of reading these but I feel it necessary to vent after waiting since August 10th. I have waited that long for you, Rocket, to fix one of the biggest and most basic cores of what makes Dayz fun and worth while. I am talking about Tents, Vehicles, and Inventories. You know, I could half deal with the hackers if I knew that I had a place to go grab gear. It would be fun to loot gear but whats the point when old tents are weapon factories just pumping out free gear? Why should I scavenge for that AS50 when I dont have a reliable place to put it?? Or why should I even bother playing when you refuse to database wipe thermal weapons that are not in the game? (etc. AS50 TWS) Look, I get this is alpha. I really do. But this all worked prior, got broke in 2.5, and has remained broke since August 10th. Seriously. Have you seen how simple some of the fixes are?? You couldnt find time between jamming your face to a camera to produce a fix? Sorry for the rant but after waiting a month and having to use back channels to get anything fixed I've grown weary. It almost feels like your sand bagging bug fixes in the mod to push interest over to stand alone alpha. After all, your goons new catch phrase is; "Will be fixed in standalone". Why dont you fix what made you a success first... Before a developer shows up with a better emphasis on patching and less on getting his face in the news. /rantoff Edit: ( I agree with some that my original post is on the negative side of things and perhaps an attack on Rocket about his convention attendance is not the best way to find results. I do how ever feel it conveys my passion for this mod and the irritation that comes with trying to cope or deal with some of the glaring issues that, in my own opinion, are hurting the player base and those with a similar play style. I leave my post here in its original form as I am not afraid to stand by my words. I encourage everyone to have a thoughtful and constructive conversation.)

Rocket, In your interviews you have discussed increasing the difficulty level of the infected. I am assuming you have attempted to increase it, because I'm aggroing everything from everywhere. I can't even crawl past an infected that's 20 metres away without aggroing. If I'm crouching or stood up, I noticed I could aggro from 70-100 metres away Is anybody else experiencing this? I understand experimenting with it, but this "fix", if it has been implemented, has completely removed stealth from the game. I haven't had a chance to test vehicles or tents tonight and I know the HUD isn't working when Debug is enabled. Also, ammo exploit is definitely fixed. No more infinite revolver or 1911 ammo. 7/10 (for now) -

Hackers. I can deal with the bugs, I can deal with 4 man teams sniping noobs spawning on the coast. I can deal with graphical glitches completely obscuring my field of view. I can deal with crazy, jerky zombies. I can deal with being hit by a zombie from 6ft away, breaking my legs and crawling to a hospital. I can deal with randomly losing gear..but...hacking....gamebreaker. Literally the incentive to play is getting smaller and smaller, despite the fact day-z would probably be my favourite game minus the hackers and a few tweaks. There's no point in running around gearing up - which was half the fun - when you're either gonna be hacked and die instantly, everyone else is fully geared with scripted weapons within 2 minutes of spawning or you can find dead players on the coast who have full gear. Hell, I haven't been further north than Stary in 2 weeks. Then, even if you have survived long enough to get fully geared, you have to battle the subtle god mode hacks and ESP hacks. So essentially the point of playing the game seriously is gone. Now I have more fun driving a bus through Electro spamming the horn seeing if I can run anyone down haha. Or seeing if I can hatchet anyone straight off spawn. Also, while the game is a sandbox and half the ''missions'' and ''objectives'' come naturally (e.g, spending a hour repairing a vehicle or raiding the airfield), I would like more of a objective and a few tweaks in the standalone. Not ''storyline'' like, or ''console'' like, but maybe more to do. Friendly only towns/trade points, building legit bases/camps as ''safezones'', more vehicles, ''boss'' type zombies - crawlers and normal zombies with like 5 skins isn't cutting it (yes, it's a alpha mod, I know lol) perhaps maps/radios that give coordinates of rare loot spawns like the deerstands. Just more subtle content that doesn't take away from the sandbox nature of the game. -
I just submitted a ticket to ask them about it and they said they don't have a specific ETA other than very soon. "We do not at this time have an ETA on the latest patch other than very soon" I have no double they're working to get it out as fast as possible. Regardless, the biggest fix was the tents and vehicles which already work on their hive. The artifact fix would be nice but I'm used to them at this point. They also responded to my original ticket and a follow up question all within 6 minutes. I was kinda blown away by that.

Trying to set up a lingor server and after sorting out some database conflicts with our chernarus server we have it running sweet. The only issue we still have is that vehicles spawn really strangely. Fishing trawlers in the woods, that kind of thing. I was wondering if anyone could help us out? Would be much appreciated.

Vilayer Vehicle Spawns, Anyone know?

I run a Vilayer server, and have yet to see URAL. The V3S spawns in a hanger on the Souther Airfield in Calamar and somewhere else as well. As far as I know the URAL is possible but has a very low chance compared to the rest of the vehicles. This is however based on Lingor Island. Havent run much with the Chernarus Private Hive yet.
