If you could change one thing about DayZ, what would it be?

1 - More enterable buildings, Lingor shows this well its smaller than Chernarus but the amount of stuff you can enter makes it feel as big if not larger (personally I will not buy standalone if it has more than about 10% sealed up buildings). 2 - Randomise loot (this requires #1 to have been done) makes loot maps worthless still have classes of building but randomise which buildings actually have stuff in them so people really have to go searching while they are looting. 3 - Make survival harder there are enough threads discussing that so I wont detail it here other than it will give the game some depth beyond the short time it takes an experienced player to gear up. 4 - Wipe the hive now make 107's and as50's rare its got silly that almost everyone now carries weapons that are very rare (I see more people with L85's than enfields) I even know a guy that started playing with 1.7.2.5 was given a duped L85 straight away along with the whole kit set and has literally NEVER had to try and survive (meaning to him this really is a slow paced COD), I suspect this is common. 5 - Combat hackers by giving server admins better powers. Ok there will be some madmins and badmins and some people unfairly kicked from a server but thats better than the state of public servers now. 6 - More civilian vehicles per server seriously from all the humvee wrecks in cheranrus it seems the place was full of movie star car fans before the apocalpyse yet all that survived are a handful of rusty skoda's.... 7 - Make fuel rarer so it becomes a bit more prized maybe limit the number of cans a tank can fill and when its empty give it a 7 day cool down before it refills. 8 - Spawn the occasional Zombie in the woods just to make us loners jump. 9 - Add a BMP that is very hard to repair. Ok thats 9 things but meh -
^ +1, I'm an admin on UK333 and will vouch for this: He moved all veichles from their locations. He global killed everybody online. Ported Players around. Ported himself and his friend to players and killed them using a M4A1 SD. Ported himself to me invisible, and started talking trash in direct chat. Quote "If you ban me, i'll just keep coming back. Have fun with your destroyed server" ~~Server restart fixed the entire server, he wasn't smart enough to save the vehicles. ~~To all those playing when this occurred, we apologise for what happened, and the hacker and his friend are banned from our server as of the 3am server restart on September 3rd.

Ok. Thanks for the answers. I'm going to keep a jerry can with me in the future too, just in case. :) So apparently we lost that chopper since it client that disconnected. We also are loosing all the vehicles too due to a admin abuse, but that's another thread then.

There is a bug where all tents and vehicles vanish after a server restart, if that's the case here they should reappear at the next restart.

Operation Cleanup Dupes DK100/LU319: Initiated!

Alright so tents are saving again with the latest patch, and DK100 is fully updated with automated anti-scripting features. Unfortunately this doesn't prevent douchebags from spawning ammo boxes it seems.. Bleh.. Due to this, we (the admins) started cleaning out the obvious tents. I.e. we found a tent with 5 x L85A2 AWS (yeah suuuuure those are legit!). And we got plenty of vehicles, and even a Huey that actually saves! Imagine that :) So if you feel like starting over on a Veteran server without crosshairs (yes we're much into John Wayne style!), DK100 might be a good place for you. We invite you to give the server a try, and it really runs sweet. Never crashed so far. Only downside is the server will reboot 2 times per day, which is 12:00/14:00 and 00:00/02:00 GMT/CET (forced without warning). Unfortunately we aren't able to run B.E.C, so we cannot give warning messages unless we are actually playing at those times. If you got any issues with the server or its staff, we'd very much like to hear from you at [email protected] Thanks in advance, and see you ingame! EDIT: Seems the server isn't showing up for some with PlayWithSix. Add the server with this IP: 94.242.227.210:2322. Or if you use the ingame browser filter for DK100 and remove anything from the mission field. P.S: -

you can use dayzcommander to search for servers. Or go to http://arma2.swec.se/server/list I will say that most of the action happens in the city of Calamar, it's the biggest on the map and close to spawns. Overall, the map might be confusing especially to newcomers, but I wouldn't label it as bad. That would be like all the noobs who complain they died of starvation in Chernarus. OMG IT SO HARDZ I HATE THIS GAEM! The artifacts were fixed, and so were the tents. I also see a lot more vehicles spawning but that is probably because there is less places to horde them and they get destroyed. While 90% of Chernarus players were either getting owned by scripters or artifacts Lingor players just played on. -
Last night me and a friend playing on the above server we had the chopper (legit) all of a sudden a scripter teleports all vehicles to 1 spot and kills every1, we checked our maps to see location just before death so both ran back and yes we did get aload of gear from a scripted ammo crate but that was after losin everything including a chopper. Log onto server this mornin to find out both me and mate are banned :(

JUST WATCH, crank the res if you can. I have seen whole server killed, hacked tents and vehicles containing everything, invisible players and teleporting but nothing on this scale. Part 2 coming soon.

This has been clogging up in my nerve central and I have to get it out of my system. Time to time we see threads about vehicle hoarding, how it's unfair and ruining the game play for others, such as casuals. Every time this topic is discussed or viewed we get a rather large influx of people posting and playing the blame game. This just seems rather ridiculous to me and so I made this topic, to humbly ask for an explanation that would clarify to me how it's unfair exactly, and how is it ruining anyone's play time, casual or not. I'll try to sum up in a simple example how my mind comprehends the vehicle situation, and it goes like this: Vehicle 1 has a spawn point at location A. Vehicle 2 has a spawn point at location B. Vehicle 3 has a spawn point at location C. Person 1 finds vehicle 1 at A and moves it to a camp site far north, being location D. Person 1 also finds vehicle 2 at B and moves it to the same camp site at location D. He's now effectively "hoarding" vehicles. Person 2 finds vehicle 3 at C and drives around until someone shoots him and the fate of the car is unknown. Person 3 finds vehicles 1 and 2 at location D and proceeds to take vehicle 1 and shoot out the tyres off vehicle 2 for shits n giggles. Now explain to me, what is the difference between person 2 and person 3? How has the person 1 influenced the process of finding a vehicle for them? Because it would seem to me, the only thing that changed is the location from A and B to location D. What difference does it make if a person finds a vehicle at D instead of A, B or C? My common sense is saying that the answer is absolutely nothing. It actually seems that person 3 is happier than person 2 because he found 2 vehicles instead of 1 even if he only took one. Chances are he found a good camp site with tents filled with good lewt. He also has the satisfaction of ruining someones day good n proper. I'm going to say it like this: You can't hoard vehicles. You could when it was possible to park them 15km outside of the map, but now that you can't do it anymore, all vehicles are on the visible map for anyone to stumble upon, be it location A, B, C or D. Argue me please. -

This is what ive experienced. - Tents save correctly. - Vehicles save correctly. - Artifacts are gone (never had one since this update). - When Debug monitor enabled the thirst, hunger and all those icons will have a green overlay. All in all I think the update was great! Really nice work dev team :D

I confirm this is a 1.7.2.6 bug, new servers have no vehicles. Fucking great. -
- found 2 tents, placed them, put some stuff inside, Saved. (1 tent from store, 1 from wooden house) - 1 tent saved, 1 did not (tent which didnt save just wont save any objects - artifacts from berezino bridge gone and from cities too. - new artifacts I never had before from wirefence now show up, can sometimes be flushed tho (not always) - vehicles save fine but even if fully repaired & fuelled up, (ATV, hatchback, uaz....) after server restart the fuell is empty Can anyone confirm that destroyed tents are gone for good? I've hit 2 camps with hacked weapons(ammo crate contents) yesterday and I dont want to do it all over again and again.

Shouldn't drive past the burning wreckage of a bus; Or drive right into two destroyed vehicles... And you certainly shouldn't attempt to investigate said wrecks, might just find a lonesome satchel charge.

Bicycles is where its at. They must be the most OP vehicle in the game. Almost silent. No Fuel required. Small target area. Easy to hide when not using it. 50kmh+ On Road. 30kmh+ Off Road. Top speed 92kmh downhill on the wilderness hills. I've lost 2 this week after hackers teleported all the vehicles on the server to one spot :( Would give my right arm for another bicycle :D

Just to say this, instead of people wanting the devs to make looting and surviving zombies as a fresh spawner up until you get some good gear - they should add something worth playing after you have the ultra gear, something that wouldn't make it boring, because you know you have all the loot, vehicles and killed alot of people and nothing else to do now.

Yeah we ran into him last night on UK333, a really stuck up punk, over confident little shit. I killed him once and a friend of my mine killed him when he teleported himself behind him. He then proceeded to basically screw our server, teleported me into a building and then killed me, killed all of the pubbies and crap, all vehicles gone etc,but nothing a restart can't fix. We talked to him for awhile and he said if we banned him he would just come back because he had "infinite" amount of keys. We banned him and he didn't come back after that we got his GUID and IP so we are reporting him eventually.

The only vehicles I would take over an ATV are the Escalade (Vilayer Hive) or the Huey, so much fun doing power-slides and very easy to flip back over once you know how.

you should probably do what I do. When ever I fix up a vehicle or just steal one I don't try to take the main roads as much because of players near by that could probably hear me around the area. Once you reach your location and park your vehicle just get out and go stand like 40+ meters away from it and hide yourself. Wait about 4-5minutes if no one comes over then you should be fine. I've had that happen to me where a player was following me who was near by the area (vehicles are ALWAYS SO LOUD). I got off the truck and went to put some stuff in before I head over to the town to loot some supplies and I see a player 150 meters away running towards me. Another incident I wasn't able to prevent the player from getting into the vehicle and he started driving away. I threw my grenade to blow up the vehicle and the player =). If I can't have it NO ONE CAN. -

You know vehicles are bound to each server right? You would have to find someone from your specific server to trade with -
What's up all, So I think now that 1.7.2.6 is released, and the tents/vehicles now save properly, we might start seeing more action in the north, as the current tents (Everyone knows about, the ones that reset all loot inside on each server restart) from 1.7.2.5 ~ start to get emptied and saved, provided all those servers update to the current dayz version.. these tents/camps will slowly start to dissapear, I mean I know people will still be able to spawn in items, but I don't think 90% of the players spawn their own items, I think like 10% of players have hacks/cheats and can spawn items, so we'll slowly see a lot of the AS50 TWS, and other hacked guns slowly dissapearing. as people die with them and they no longer just respawn back in the tents at which they were obtained from. Personally, this opens up a lot more of the game again, at least over time I think it will.. and I've grown pretty tired of roaming the hills around Elektro/Cherno & all other coastal cities, killing snipers, who are killing new spawns they disconnect after dying to come back 15 mins later, fully geared again, as the tents slowly get cleaned up of duplicated items or at least have had their ability of respawning all items on server restart removed, people will actually need to go north, to loot places like NWAF/Stary Sobor, and this means we might get to see some more pvp in these area's that before duping, were always a place you could go to have a little fun. granted not all duping is fixed, but a major part of it is. and for those players who enjoy roaming the wilderness looking for player camps looting/destroying them, that brings a whole new level of satisfaction back to the game, now that when we destroy or loot these camps, the people who made them, will now know about it, as their items won't just return the next time the server reboots. [not related to 1.7.2.6] -- As for the hackers/cheaters whatever you want to call them, I know from experience in many online games, this is something that takes a long time to get rid of, and you will probably never be able to get rid of it 100%, I know a lot of the issues can't be fixed without changing the arma 2 engine, and this is why you're working on the standalone, a lot of the script abusing that allows the cheaters to teleport everyone into a bus or something is part of the arma 2 engine being easily modded (legitimately by players who develop missions and such). once that ability is removed, hopefully in the standalone, the cheaters will really only be able to use the same kind of cheats 90% of us deal with in other online FPS type games, such as wallhacks &/or aimbots, and at least then, these players will still be forced to somewhat play the game, they can't just come into the server, and press a button, kill everyone on the server at one time.. So, on that note, I would just like to say thank you to Rocket and the rest of the Dev team, for this great mod, and keep up the good work, most of the community appreciates it.

If its an open public server then its probably hackers during the night teleporting all the vehicles to one location, sometimes its off the island. We have the exact same problem and no solution. Of course it could be just a respawn glitch. -

In order to modify the map you need to modify pbo files outside of just the dayz server file. This means all your users would have to download that version and only play on your server. It is the same way if you want to add more kinds of vehicles. If you have some other way to make it work I would be shocked. -

1. Modern anti-material rifles are not anti-tank weapons. They are ineffective against modern armored vehicles. They are used for disabling vehicles such as technicals, equipment like generators, radar, comms, gun emplacements and other soft targets. 2. The proper way to balance them would be to make them use up far more inventory space (20 slots or more) or take up both the primary AND backpack slot, and give them enormous barrel swing when not being used from a prone position (you can't fire a 30lb rifle accurately without a bipod), and reduce running speed and eliminate sprinting. The damage is fine, I'm have no issue with being killed by a single shot from one.
