NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
Tjdz4ever replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm running this map on my private server as well. Multiple admins on throughout the day. DayZFallujah - 1.0 - (UTC-6) - (Veteran|3D:ON|CH:ON) - 80 vehicles-Hosted by Tjdz4ever-Server TeamSpeak 64.31.13.66:4013 password inside IP: 74.63.242.26:2312 -
I’m still somewhat of a new player and have only been playing for a month or so, but I’ve realize that Dayz is the kind of game I have been looking for for a long, long time. Finally a game that lets me CHOOSE what to do instead of telling my what to do and forcing me to grind for points, levels, etc. I have come up with a number of ideas as I’ve been playing with my friends to improve the immersion and “adventure” feel of the game. I’ll list them here: Bodies – when I come across a body I want to be able to study the body and find out exactly how that person died. “There are small gunshot wounds in his torso”, “He appears to have been hit in the head by some sort of large caliber rifle”, “blunt force trauma”, “he appears to have been shredded and partially eaten (in the case of zombies)”, “there are no external causes of death visible”, etc. I’d also like to know how long the body has been dead with something like “the body is still warm/cold/etc.” These things will give the perceptive and patient player an edge helping to know which towns to avoid, if there are snipers in the area, etc. All of these things could possibly be done visually as well – perhaps showing the wounds depending on how the person was killed, perhaps a pool of blood that slowly dries/evaporates as time goes on so you can see if the person just died recently and stuff like that. I also think the same could apply to fires – you could see if they were still warm or doused by checking on them, etc. Trash – When you use a bandage, blood bag, drop an empty magazine, etc. I’d like to see the remains of these items remain persistently on the ground – at least for a time. They could be picked up and/or moved by players but if not could leave a “trail of events” for the next experienced survivor that comes by. For example you walk in to a town, and upon exploring a barn you see an expended magazine, several dead zombies that died of gunshot wounds, and an empty blood bag outside on the ground – you now know that there was recently a cooperating group in the area with at least one military grade weapon. Had they been more careful in hiding their tracks they may have forever been unnoticed. This would add a huge element of excitement for the surveil and survive style of player. Sniping – in my opinion sniping needs to be re-worked simply because it’s so damn effective. First thing to change needs to be grass and underbrush disappearing after 100 meters or so which makes it virtually impossible not to be spotted (this would also help with tents being more easily hidable). After that, extremely long range guns such as the AS 50 should not be able to be fired farther than a few hundred meters unless prone on the ground, and certainly not from standing. I think that the AS 50 in particular should have to be set down on the ground and then utilized as an emplaced weapon to make longer range shots, so that the player can’t just switch to “run and gun” mode the second he sees somebody closely attacking him (he'll have to pick back up the rifile, etc.). He should have to rely on other players helping him for closer range support, or a backup gun. Anybody who’s ever held a .50 caliber rifle knows that the gun would be completely ineffective from a standing position. This should relegate the .50 caliber sniper rifle to a true "special purpose" rifle rather than a "yay time to go snipe noobz" gun. Birds – I’d like to see smaller birds take off in startled flight and and/or animals run when loud shots are suddenly fired. If you’re in a city and you hear a sniper shot you can look to the treeline and try to see if there are any startled birds flying in to the sky to get a fix on roughly which direction the guy is in, etc. Vehicle Repair – In a real life situation you can “reserve” your vehicle for you just by taking out the spark plugs. I’d like to see something similar in Dayz since vehicles remain when you get off the server and are a lot harder to hide. Maybe not spark plugs but I’d like to see players at least able to take off a wheel or two and hide it in a remote tent (the same way you put on a wheel) before they log off so that somebody who finds your vehicle hideout at least has to work a little bit for it. Rare encounters – possibility of roving military patrols that will go from one area of a map to another with orders to “clear the quarantine area” meaning KOS. It would take a coordinated ambush and a lot of risk to take them down but would be well worth it in gear/ammo if you could do it. They could travel at walking speed through the map on roads maybe with a truck or two driving slowly so that once spotted you could have time to run ahead/set up an ambush with some fellow survivors if you knew which way they were going. Plants/Gardens – ability to plant plants that would persist on the server and grow and provide food after a few days that you could plant in a forest or field depending on the seed. Would make more fun things to do “at the camp”. Hunting – add deer/elk/bears. They will get spooked and run if you don’t kill them with one shot or get too close (no more hunting with a Makarov or hatchet). Make hunting things other than livestock (which are near towns and thus a little bit dangerous to hunt) a little more challenging and require use of a larger caliber bullet and risk of noise. Burying bodies – should take longer and the ground be slightly changed afterwards so a curious player could dig up the grave and see what’s there. If players want to bury bodies (or loot) they should have to drag or bring it to an obscure spot if they want to ensure nobody finds it. Character classes – mind you, not your typical “engineer, support, recon” or any of that. Choose between a few character types with slight differences and maybe give one additional starting item depending on which you chose – here’s a few ideas: Soldier: Maybe start with an M9 or camo clothing. Slightly faster runner and more physically in shape so he can have slightly more health and a better chance to survive short falls. (more likely to spawn at airstrip or military blockade?) Civilian townsman – Start with toolbox or local map. (More likely to spawn in small town?) Good at gardening to get more produce than average (see above plants entry), cars take slightly less damage while he is driving them due to being “used to driving in the area”. Local Hunter: Could start with a hatchet/hunting knife. Ability to get more meat from animals, better ability to creep silently and an run faster up/down hills due to hiking boots. (More likely to spawn in wilderness or outside of a town?) Businessman/medical professional – Could start with a few extra medical supplies. Could make a splint using harvested wood (acts as morphene), and revive unconscious players by using CPR (acts as epi pen). (More likely to spawn in big city near hospital or near military hospital area) Survivalist/Alex Jones fan – Could start with a compass and/or personal map indicating a stash of “preperedness gear” somewhere on the map that would have some supplies and possibly a rile and some ammo if he found it. Slightly better at shooting assault rifles and pistols accurately due to preperedness practice. (Likely to spawn in towns, cities, or outskirts of town) I’m sure there’s plenty of other ideas that could be explored along those lines. The point would not to make any of these “defined roles” meaning that you are forced to play a certain way, but give each one ever so slight differences or abilities that could encourage a little bit of teamwork. This is a few of my ideas for now, I’ll add more as I come up with them or remember them.

Serious rise in Hackers over the past month?
digital0 replied to Random_her0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
At the beginning of this month I must say I was mostly very annoyed by the destructiveness of hacking. Teleporting vehicles to one spot and throwing some of them into the sea. That is something that requires a server restart and even with an hourly backup people that played in that timeframe will loose stuff. Or even worse I see it too late and events overlap. There was a time were I IP banned players, used 1-2 hours per night just making sure I get rid of them. But in the end, you are always on the short stick. It has gotten a lot better in recent weeks tough. -
NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!

It's getting worse (whenever it is possible...). Every server we joined, we found script kiddies teleporting vehicles and players away.. they were systematically joining every single server doing this. -
Some people dont know what a coward is.
GoodGrief replied to Jeff the killer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Was rushed last night but have a moment now to elaborate; Concealment, deception and ambush are all valid military tactics. Guess that folks in the west are raised by TV to think these are the tactics of non-state actors, terrorists (but not freedom fighters lol). Really nobody uses deceit more than western military forces. The most important aspect of fighting a smaller invisible enemy is intelligence. With that intelligence you can use counter-intelligence to lure the enemy to the location of your choosing, or at least be there ready whereever they happen to be moving. Much the same as a guerrilla force might wait in hiding by a water pool. Awww, those guys only wanted to get a drink but you shot them? That's not fair! The guerrillas should write a letter warning them its coming lol? Maybe in never-never land.. Really if your eyes have been opened at all in this world and if you have seen anything beyond the grim confines of a little estate, you know the brutality that exists beyond say a place like little Britain. I feel like mentioning that tried and tested RL bandit tactic one often hears and which would happen in a post-apocalyptic scenario of the beautiful woman running down the road with her clothes torn flagging down loaded up survivor vehicles. Hopefully they will stop, to offer help. That's when the drivers would be shot and their supplies looted. That probably happened in RL as I am writing this thread, be it in South America or whatever. The world is a nasty cunt of a place and people can be fucking awful. Deal with it bros -
Game Server Hosting by SurvivalServers.com *** INSTANT SETUP | CUSTOM CP | FTP | CUSTOM MODS | ANTI-HACK **
R.J. replied to SurvivalServers (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
US 3340 The server was set up quickly and appears all vehicles spawned. Within 20-30 minutes of being on a brand new server, I was dropped from the sky and died. The tents my buddies and I set up were flattened, helicopter, Ural, and other vehicles are now missing, presumably teleported into unknown territory. Very frustrating indeed. The server cleared out quickly after that incident and just amazed how rampant this problem has become. What exactly is the Community Hive? I assume all survival community servers are linked through the Bliss hive, but how does this differ from being a flat out public server? How does this option reduce the issue of hacking or is being private the only option? Now that the vehicles, tents, and gear are now gone, is there any way of resetting back to it's original vanilla state? -
Vehicles should be tougher to total.
S1ippery Jim replied to hatfieldcw's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If a car is unused for a long time the battery goes flat, brake cylinders corrode, seals perish and leak, and fuel in the tank becomes unusable due to oxidation and contamination, and evaporates. Automatic transmissions would deteriorate after the oil dries out in clutchpacks which then absorb moisture. Engine components would also dry out and corrode. The tyres would go flat, perish and crack. These things take months to years, depending on climate. This means that vehicles left abandoned and unused during a Zombie apocalypse would eventually fall into disrepair and become inoperable. Chernarus being a coastal region would mean accelerated deterioration and corrosion due to salt in the air especially around coastal areas such as Cherno and Elektro. -

Fairy costumes suit everybody. No exceptions. They make you look pretty, and magical. Keep 'em, you won't regret it. I like that a comment about fuel availability was prefaced by "On Topic:". You guys are on so many tangents that going back to a previous tangent counts as buckling down. The vehicles that spawn are riddled with bullet holes, spotted with rust and missing tires, but we're able to fix them up and ride them to death and glory. I want to be able to do the same fix-up magic on vehicles that have been disabled in combat, instead of having "killed" cars go supernova. That's the topic here. -
Hell no its not wrong. It is just a matter of what you want from the game. The beauty of DayZ is that everything is at risk all the time. Keep that in mind and don't get to attached. For me a camp is pointless. My style of play is if i cant carry it on my back i dont need it. I dont even use vehicles. Well i have used a bike on a few occasions and drove a truck into a ditch just for kicks once. Do what you enjoy and enjoy it while it lasts.

Gauging Interest: A "True" Hardcore Immersion-based Server
tandwan replied to 9103's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
There are a lot, and I mean a lot of 'hardcore' servers that are currently on the server list so i'm not being rude when I say this ( take it how you want ) but you're not the first nor the last. You rehashed an old idea and the issue is simply that people have tried servers like this and they either worked or they didn't. After 30 years of gaming I have learned one important rule : People think shit sounds great until they try it, then they quickly back pedal and say this 'This is terrible, fuck this.' . There are a lot of games where super - hardcore has been tried and failed miserably and this one does it fairly well. You want immersion but you spell out things which are not immersion based. Worrying that a sniper is tracking in on you? Man you should be worried about this on EVERY server. No waypoints? Ok fair enough, see above though, it's been done on a lot of different servers. No Crosshairs? Well there goes the chance of anyone using the grenade launcher on the M4A1 Holo but again, this can be overlooked. I'm not sure what you want to be honest because the things you list as wanting off your server are kind of petty. As for why people bitch about having first person restricted? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_sickness This is the reason I can only play on servers that have third person. I have severe motion sickness to the point just laying down in the backseat of a moving vehicle causes me to get sick. I CAN play some games but it requires me to take medication in order to stare at the screen. Arma II is one of those games that this hits me fairly hard in, and changing the F.O.V or Head bob does absolutely nothing. Granted, i'm the 1%, but i'm giving an example not fighting for a case here. All in all, there are servers out there already doing this and some of them are successful and long running (see the SurvivalOps) server so this is just another server that's coming up. If you want to make a server that's new and hasn't been done before then make a server with all russian weapons. The games in Russia, why are there more NATO weapons then Russian? Add new skins to entice clan war players to join your server (players can all dress up as X to show which team they are on) or maybe add vehicles that are military grade that have not been done yet. If you can accomplish this then you will have created something new and exciting that people will want to try over 'Another Hardcore server'. Good luck all the same. -
Military vehicles aren't tracked. They have tons of radios and a xxxxx system that allows them to communicate via satellite over a "GPS" style map and offers real time positioning. However if the system is turned off you can't get real time positioning. Also the system currently requires a crypto key once a month to encrypt data or it can't be read by the vehicles role members. <---- Seven years SATCOM in the military. Now I feel like a dick. . .

Kicked/Banned from us 401- Abusive Admin "EXILE Gaming'
kwark posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi guys, Pretty much made this account to report these idiots.... I've been playing for close to a month now with some mates, and because us401 had a day/night cycle that matched our playing times - and it has decent ping to all of us - we chose it to plant/save our tents and start building vehicles. US401 also had pretty active admins from the EXILE multi-gaming clan that play there, so hackers were often stopped before they could cause any major havok (a plus when you have decent gear). Anyway, after a weeks work establishing our tent city we were moving north from Cherno back to our tents to deposit items and we decided to stop at Zub castle and see if we could pick up any extra food/items. When we got to the castle, every single hole in the castle wall had been sandbagged and barb wired - but the main entrance driveway was open so we walked in. Inside the castle walls was about 20 full tents, a bicycle, motorcycle, two atv's and a GAZ...pretty much a jackpot for fledgling noobs. We figured it must be only clan on the server "EXILE", and where they keep their gear.We left two people guarding the entrance while the other two started looting tents and loading the GAZ. While we were holding the entrance 2-3 clan members came back so we shot them. Us 401 has never restarted (except for patches) while we've been playing on it, but once we shot that first clan member it restarted twice in about 10 minutes (dodgey?) . When we opened fire on one of the guys in the entrance - he aborted(which makes this ban even more ironic). We managed to log back in safely, the GAZ was jittering in a wall so we decided not to risk it and just take what we could carry. The guys i was with ran the new guns to the tent city, i logged out at the top of Zub castle because i had to go. Considering what we could've done to the base, i think what we did was pretty tame. The next day i logged back in, the main entrance was sandbagged, most tents were flattened and the vehicles were gone, they were in the process of moving their base. While i was looking around i saw one of the EXILE clan members at one of the tents and shot him. I left the castle, and halfway to our base i was banned/kicked for "Server Hopping". 1 How could you be stupid enough to put 100% of your tents and vehicles in Zub. 2 Why would you ban people for playing the game (even if it is exposing and profiting from your stupidity). If you want to build a cute sandbag base that isn't going to be potentially raided, make your server private (or just hide your shit properly like everyone else) 3 Maybe use a better pretext than server hopping for banning players like myself. Now you've lost probably the most active players on your server, as well as your super secret base. And while we're on the topic of super secrecy.... One of my mates who wasnt banned decided he'd try find wherever they moved their base too. These guys didn't seem to be interested in hiding their gear, and liked places that could be holed up instead of hidden - so someone suggested taking a look at Devil's castle. Yep. Sandbagged/wired off base with tents full of sandbags, wire, engine parts and a few big guns. Looks like they are migrating there from Zub. Its there at the moment if you guys are feeling picky, or maybe wait a day for them to populate it with guns and vehicles. There's also still plenty of guns and items in the tents at Zub castle. Consider this retribution against admin abusing duds. US 401 - Devils Castle. Have fun Cheers kwark -
Sorry to hear that. I don't normally give rides but this guy has good trader points so what the hell. No issues at all. Vehicles are fine except you have to refuel them after every server restart which sucks but they get repaired for free so it's a trade off.
-
I just wish there were more vehicles to find period. A full week of Day Z and the only repairable vehicle I've found was a fishing boat grounded on a rock in a field a kilometer north of Cherno.

Vehicles should be tougher to total.
Forgewolf replied to hatfieldcw's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Even after a year of a Zombie like infection.. There is bound to be 100's or maybe even 1,000 of working vehicles.. I wish a few vehicles would actually start out usable. -
Looking for a ride.
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I heard vehicles were broken on official hive servers. -
At first I was gonna write a "get shot here beacon" but after reading, that is actually quite a cool idea. I think it should only apply to specific vehicles though (the military ones) and maybe other like a police car (if they are introduced) Otherwise +1 OP :)

Detta Company is Now Recruiting!
CajunSnowNinja replied to Statik (DayZ)'s topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
How long have you played? 2 months How old are you? 19 How frequent do you play? typically every day What role would you like to play (e.g. Sniper, Support, Medic, Assault)? I'd like to be a medic, but I can snipe extremely well if needed. Can you pilot a heli, or drive a vehicle with a decent amount of skill? I haven't tried land vehicles much, but I've gotten pretty good with the helicopters in ARMA 2 Can you navigate the map? yes What area of the world do you live in? Central US What is your current load out [*Optional]? M4CCOSD, NVGs, ,Ghillie Tell us a bit about yourself. I'm in the USAF, currently in the process of getting my bachelors and becoming a Combat Rescue Officer. A few of my friends got me into this game, but they quit playing so I'm stuck playing by myself when I do get on. It gets really boring really fast when you don't have anyone to play with.. -
What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?
[email protected] replied to Dynami's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think taking anything out would improve DayZ, but If the anti materiel rifles are ever going to be used as intended 12.7 ammo will have to be made rare as fuck, and vehicles shouldn't explode/burn up when you burst the engine block (that only happens in Lethal Weapon films anyway. AFAIK) That and make the kickback more jarring so a miss is more costly. It would probably be easier to hit a 2M wide truck first time than a 0.5M wide person. I think that would encourage snipers to use anti personnel weapons against um... personnel. -
Lojack is the most popular but it sends out radio signals (chirps) not a satellite signal. To communicate with the satellite your tracker needs a gps antenna to broadcast a signal 22,000 miles into space which requires a good deal of power also (and is visible on the car). Realize that the satellite in orbit sends out signals but they are positioning and time, not usually messages. The satellite would have to be reprogrammed to send out the location of vehicles. Sorry if this sounds like trolling. Maybe make it where you can acquire a radio and track the car via the chirp signals? <---- Seven years of satellite communications. EDIT: GPS satellites are 6 to 12,000 miles, my bad.

What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?
hatfieldcw replied to Dynami's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Truth be told, I'd be in favor of a Chernarus+ with no US military presence, where you're packing Nagants, hunting rifles and the odd AK at top level gear status. Too much gun going around, really. The .50s are dumb, I say. Lose 'em. As others have said, there's a very satisfying sniper experience to be had with the .30-caliber rifles in the game, and the big dumb guns just allow jerks to be jerks more effectively. Yes, Alt-F4 is a problem, but a guy alt-F4ing out of your sniper scope is no more unfair than a guy alt-F4ing out of my shotgun's sight or out from under my hatchet. Fixing Alt-F4 is important, and one-hit sniper rifles are not fixing it, so stop trying to make the two discussions more closely related than they really ought to be. If I found a server with no .50cal rifles or thermal/night vision (except rangefinders, that's legit), more common vehicles and parts to fix them, and a private hive with good admins and a monthly hive wipe, I'd be willing to pay a subscription for that version of DayZ. The game has an awful lot to offer, and even when you take into account duping, you can fix most of that problem by either removing items wholesale or making them more common to begin with. -
What's wrong with "bandits" in this game?
UnunseptiumAD replied to yoshez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Snipers on hills "camping" spawns are different from the many bandits you find. Most bandits will shoot you from in order to steal your things. These bandits accelerate the speed in which they gain high tier items, by murdering those who have them often while those players are at a significant disadvantage. I.E. a player looting a building for food/car parts, shot in the back of the head. The insane people up on the hills who murder for beans'n'giggles, often times skipping the beans and going straight to the giggles, are just that, insane. They really don't deserve the title of bandit, they probably need something more along the lines of "sociopathic murderer", and those players deserve a bullet to the brain. I personally am a "Hero" but I tend to use the term loosely (BOOOOOOO, a HERO at the BANDIT campfire, yeah, I get it). I consider myself more of a thief, and while you ask what the hell I'm talking about, and that I just said I was a hero, think of this: Why bother with the murdering? I tend to skip the step of murdering someone and skip ahead to the looting. Those snipers up on Electro's hills? I sneak up behind them, take everything in their packs, and place a bear trap behind them. Those bandits I just saw leaving their camp in an off-road pickup and an ATV? Take everything I can carry from their tents and run off with it, after having dumped all the items out of them, saving the tent, then razing it with a satchel charge. That or popping all of the wheels on the vehicles if they're not around, then taking all of their spare tires. The "Heroism" (I really hate that word) of it comes from what I do with it afterward. A good portion of the items I take from you bandits gets given to the survivors on the shorelines. EDIT: Back when I rolled with a bandit group, our most common strategy was to loot another group's camp, kill whoever was guarding it, and then lace the tent zone with all of the satchel charges their tents had. We'd wait in a nearby treeline until the remainder of the group came back now that their (dead) guard alerted them through Vent or Skype or something. We blew the satchel charges, killed the still living using the one member who had our group's L85, and loot the corpses. Dealing with those snipers is simple, outsmart them. Get behind them, and one makarov round is sufficient to earn yourself a helluva alot of loot. -
As the server had only been online for 3-4 hours when ALL the vehicles disappeared then I doubt it is hoarders. This is more than likely a hack script (imo) that has removed the vehicles from playable areas.
