Hey guys. I've had a Lingor Island server set up for a couple of weeks now. We've got a bunch of enthusiastic people already calling it home, and I'd like to increase our population by inviting everyone to join us. I'm renting a monster of a dedicated machine, so the login times and lag are almost non-existent. 8 cores, 16gb of RAM, and hopefully an SSD next month if donations keep going the way they have been. I've banned over 2 dozen people for attempting to script. I'm using all custom exceptions and monitoring tools to keep the skiddies out. I've added the Lingor Units mod (found here[1] ) to spice things up a bit. There are a bunch of Police APCs and armored jeeps running around right now, as well as a MiG trainer jet and a Cessna prop plane. There's a bunch of other stuff too, but I don't want to give away all the surprises. Speaking of vehicles, I currently have between 70 and 80 in the server at any given time. This includes 3 helicopters. I've changed all of the vehicle spawn points to custom locations to encourage actual exploration instead of just using dayzdb or something. I've been spending 20-30 hours a week on server related stuff, and have gotten a ton of positive feedback for being an active admin. I reboot the server 2 or 3 times a day to keep the login and respawns quick, but even after being up for 12+ hours it's still faster than most servers (20-30 seconds at the most) to log in or respawn. I'm very open to suggestions about tweaking things to make it more fun. I enjoy a challenge, so the difficulty is currently on Veteran, with 3rd person enabled but crosshairs off. Personally I hate 3rd person, but it's the most popular option. This is rapidly turning into a wall of text, so I'll try to wrap it up. We've had a couple of events on the server controlled by myself and a few friends. Assassination missions, airstrikes, and other stuff. It's been a lot of fun. I hope to do one this evening if we can get enough people to make it worthwhile. One more thing; I have sole access to the database, and I am extremely proud of the integrity and trustworthiness that I am known for. I will never exploit this access like some other servers for personal gain. I do not view the coordinates of vehicles, tents, or players. I also do not edit my inventory or the inventory of any other players (exceptions include donators and special events). I will never kick you for killing me. I will never roll back the server if you find my tent. I hear nightmares about admins on other servers, and have experienced it personally. I hope you'll give the server a shot. I plan on running a Chernarus or Takistan/Fallujah map if we get enough people to fill it. Happy Hunting! TL;DR: We have an awesome Lingor server. Some hacker/scripter had pulled all the vehicles on the map to one place just outside Elektro (even the boats it looked crazy). The vehicles were stuffed with all sorts of stuff including different clothing so I wore the Soldier one for a bit. It went with me when I blew up one of those ATV's hitting a hay bale. Good times :D

Hehe to bad, but it would seem like the NVG idea is never gonna go through. Im gonna remove the poll. Its wierd with that weather btw, had several people saying it was dark as fuck last night, i was even on and it was really dark hehe. Well i already rebuild it mate :) Tbh i wasnt thinking og moving to Fallujah, merely "vacation" over some weekends, perhaps. I wanna stay with Chernarus, its awsome :) But i know NOTHING about Rmod, do you? Coz i dont want any crazy military weapons or vehicles in the server. Perhaps a better variety of none plated vehicles and maybe one very rare armored. dunno. The base fortification is what attracted me to Rmod in the first place :) -
Your right. I have never done such a thing before and have always detested people who could not play a game the legit way. my actions were wrong i admit that. I only did such to help prevent myself from being hacked to death. i never called in items/vehicles or anything else just wanted to know when i was being teleported to. I am not defending my actions merely trying to convey why i took this path.

Hi guys, I've been playing on this server for a couple of days now and I have to say, it was the most enjoyable DayZ experience that I had so far. I am definitely recommending this server to anyone looking for a diverse and (nearly) hacker-free environment on a really stable and up to date server. This has to be one of the very few servers I found where tents and vehicles actually save fine (vehicles even seem to retain their fuel status) and items in tents are not duped. I also like that the community on this server is quite diverse. There are many friendly people, even a dedicated medic (Aisling, I'm looking at you). But I also met a few people who kill on sight, which I think is good because it would be boring without them and I also witnessed some serious betrayal already. So yeah there's a lot of depth to playing DayZ on this server, it's not just the pointless PvP in Stary/Elektro/Cherno. From my limit experience I noticed a couple of squads forming at this server atm and I wonder how this situation will develop in the future (e.g. will there be fighting between the squads or friendly trade relations - we will see ;)). Also big kudos to Byrgesen and the other admins. Best administration I've seen so far. Though I've got no idea how you manage to do all of that while being drunk/high so much! LOL. Here's my opinion on the topics currently discussed in the thread: Mods - Fine with me. It will be good vs. hackers and hopefully bring some fresh aspects to the DayZ gameplay. However installation needs to be documented on the front page of this thread and very fast / easy for new users or it will slow down growth of the server population. It might be helpful to offer a self-installing archive for all mods on this server in the future. Moonlight - I was on the server when you guys were testing the full moonlight and I have to agree with most other people in this thread that it was a bit too bright. You could easily spot people at 600-700m. However if NVGs get removed it might be a good idea to keep it this way (hard to fly helis at night without NVGs or full moonlight). NVGs - Can't vote for some reason but I'd say keep them. Farming for these gives people something to do in the "end-game" and may cause conflict at Airfield / Heli crashes, which keeps the game more interesting. With brighter nights there is really no reason to remove them because they don't give such a great advantage anymore. DayZ Fallujah - Might be interesting once it is fully compatible with the hive software. Is it possible to have a backup of the Chernarus DB before switching? In that case one could decide to go back to the saved Chernarus status if gameplay on the new map turns out to be not so great. See ya in game. -

Adding more vehicle spawns

I believe it will tell you what vehicles have spawned in the "blisshive" log file. Just search something like "UAZ", and you should see a big line of script saying that each vehicle has spawned and what it is. That file also tells you where helo crashes have spawned. -

Wow mister negativity. Its a VERY nice arma map, some even say the best custom map for arma ever made. The mounted guns could ofc be removed from the spawn script, vehicles are details. I see a urban enviorement, with 60-70% enterable building (from what i could read) a million buildings, wich means a million zombies, wich mean very hard to get around without a fight. It has alot of potential tbh, and i think it would be a shame to just wipe it off, coz its new. The shere size of the city is also what will make this NOT a DM map. its 4.5-5km wide, with 3.300 buildings. That means people are gonna be far from each other and there is gonna be a shitload of zombies. And theres even a HUGE area around the city with airfield, trainstation, gasstations and a couple of dams. To me that sounds like fun and pretty damn difficult to survive -

Youre serious, guys? That map got almost no details, it looks scraggy, unfinished and as if the creator only put some buildings and trees randomly along some streets. And what about those mounted guns on vehicles? Thats not DayZ anymore, its Left 4 Dead meets Crysis. Thought we were all having fun in Chernarus again, even if -or especially because- its not as "difficult" as on public servers, but well, if you want some kind of Deathmatch Arena, go ahead... I definitetely don't. -

From 19:00~ till 19:20, timezone is GMT +2, server logs show it in GMT -7 or something. 15:00 in log time was 0:00 where I live. * What happened during the incident At 19:00 our time, a player called DISON logged in the server. Soon after, we heared reports of people getting killed with an M107 with infinite ammo (we did not know it was DISON at that point). This went on for a bit, as people started getting picked off one by one. At around 19:20 a player called DISON crashed a (stolen) helicopter on our vehicles (logs show proof that he was pilotting the heli when it crashed), while we were standing still trying to figure out who was hacking. Noone in their right minds would crash a chopper like that, but anyways. He couldn't have known where we were, and he probably wanted to get back at us for preparing to ban him. Edit: While I didn't screenshot it, when we looked at the corpse of the player in the chopper that crashed on us, it had hacked items like Makarov SD, radio, etcetera. Since DISON had these kind of items (see logs below), it must've been him. * Proof While we don't have any screenshots, I've pulled all the relevant info from the logs. So at first glance this seems awesome right? map is big and buildings are enterable. This must be a good thing right? No. Since almost all the buildings are enterable AND the map is massive, it will be hard for any one to meet another to meet up or PvP. Only way to make this work is if you had 100-200 people on the server but this would never happen because of hackers (hackers will rape the server if it goes over 50 people). I prefer to have some pvp/banditry and I don't see this map delivering it. I don't see myself able to horde vehicles/make a camp anywhere. I don't see where I can help freshly spawned players easily like I can on the coast. So what can you do on this map? Loot every building until you are fully geared? I guess I will see how people feel about the map after they finish looting. /endrant -
I would also like to see car crashes... not like the normal broken down vehicles in game.. but more like this.. you run around in up north in the farmland for example.. and you see a car crashed against a tree (or maybe hit a cow like in that other arma: zombies mod) burning with smoke. You should be able to look in trunk (gear) .. and maybe pull out bodies and loot them (: this is what I mean.. take a look at 18:50

If I could I probably wouldn't be on the main hives too much lately.. Having fun on Lingor and a couple private hives for Chern. Less hackers, more vehicles and overall better times it seems. -

Well, you see, I just don't join private hives. That's how. Lol, my group/friends and I have had several vehicles on a particular hive for a while without being attacked by hackers. -
Firstly I would like to say I am not looking for sympathy, just wish to tell my story. A friend of mine one day tells me about this alpha test on a mod for arma 2, I searched it on you tube and watched a couple of vids. I liked what I saw and bought both Arma 2 and OA and promptly downloaded the DayZ mod. the game i became immersed in even with its bug's, artifact graphic issues, and disapearing items. i made kills and was killed many times at the time of my ban i believe my humanity was around 30k+. I played with friends we found trucks and all manor of vehicles had a couple of camp sites (when they saved) game bugs were discouraging and demoralised our group somewhat. still to come was the hackers... they would teleport to us and kill us while in the middle of no where, spawn all vehicles to them selves fully repair vehicles spawn in outrageous weapons and be un-killable. effectively ruining legit gamers fun. a friend of me sent me a link to a program to which in my ignorance used without researching it. later i met with a server admin and after some chat he made me a server admin to help police his server. yes i was still teleported to and made to dance while hackers killed me, but i was able to perma ban said hacker from the server, eliminating hackers one at a time. it was working apart from logging in and finding hackers destruction previous to my entry to the server. Then today i tried to log in and see that i have received a global ban. i am a little upset by this but not without understanding as to why I am banned. I will miss playing DayZ as it is a game i enjoyed whole heartedly. with my ban i hope all those that hacked in helicopters and teleported to people and vehicles and ruined the legit game suffer a ban as promptly as i did, however unlike me i am sure they will just find another hack to bypass the global ban system and continue wreaking havoc on your game. to Rocket. Hackers have ruined your game as im sure your well aware of, I hope for your sake that your player/fan base does not diminish to such a point where any further developments in the mod and stand alone suffer. I did the right thing using a bad method, but got results... if only on one server and suffer the penalty. GG battle eye Flame on.

This Map is EPIC! I was in the BETA Testing and its absolutely awesome. You don't have to run for 30 minutes to reach the closest town anymore. This is one massive city, and when I say big, I mean that the city is about 4.5-5KM wide. There are lots and lots of vehicles, and very large airfield that has loads of aircraft. This map will not disappoint. Way to go Lee! -
found out yet? cause I was reading my SQL table and realized the Helicopter hasn't spawned and wont since 30 vehicles have spawned.

I've had the chance to play Fallujah during a beta stage... here are my impressions. ITS THE BEST THING AFTER THE INVENTION OF FIRE! The map size suits quite well, not too big, not too small, enough to accomodate 50 players, but you sure won't feel lonely with 20. The enviroment... EXTREMELY BLOODY HOSTILE. If you are a carebear stay hidden in Chernarus woods. Fallujah is no mans land. Teamplay comes in the first place here. Unlike others, you WILL NEED FRIENDS to stay alive... and mind you, without some squad tatics your group might find itself ambushed as soon as it finds the first canned beans. No more hours of walking from Kamenka to wherever, it's a COLOSSAL, beautiful and dangerous city occupying the whole freaking map. Vehicles everywhere. Helicopters, everywhere. Zombies? EVERYWHERE. Players? Hiding on every corner. I would like to express my appreciation for all hard work Lee's has been putting to keep DayZ alive. (He expent 20 hours a day coding Takistan and Fallujah at times whilst supporting players with server problems. All while fending off his partner).- 248 replies

Hi... so little funny hackers came to my server ported all the vehicles to skalisty island and it seems like they saved all of them. the heli just bugged into the sky and was never sen again. it is possible to reste the server or the database? i just tried restarting the server like 100 times but nothing changed.

Pretty bad ass video even if it is a private hive with added items/vehicles
