  4. Yeah, James, the situation that happened to you is no longer possible in 0.2.4. The shed issue theanes mentioned is no longer possible when you first get to an area. If you were to hang around that shed for about 20 minutes, the numbers would grow to about 40 zombies there. But it would take 20 minutes of you sitting by that shed and not killing any zombies. Still, like I said, I'm not perfectly happy with the zombie mechanic yet. But it's going in the right direction. I do like that the barracks at NWAF become death traps if you don't sneak into them or have a buddy or two to help clear. As for the EU server, I'm ready to turn one up now (didn't think I'd be saying this so quickly). But I have no knowledge of EU based providers. As mentioned before, if anyone knows of any quality Windows 2008 VPS/Dedicated Server hosting over there, I'll get one turned up for you folks. Although, I will miss playing with some of you. I think the server is disproportionately compromised of non-USA survivors, which only makes me sad in the sense that I hope the mod will continue to grow in popularity and get some numbers up to replace those on the US server who end up going to the EU server. Note that the servers will not exist in a collective hive, as I can think of no reliable and consistent way of preventing people from ghosting or otherwise abusing that mechanic. I've yet to determine to what extent, but I will be 'transferring' survivors that elect to go to the EU server should they want it. I probably won't let you take vehicles or tents just to ensure the server has a somewhat fresh start, though.

    Non-pvp Servers

    I ask wheres the fun in collecting the best weapons, vehicles and equipment? And not finding some bandits to engage or stick up, its how people deal with confrontation in DayZ. DayZ isnt a game its a social experiment which means your going to have to meet new people and make friends.
  7. We'll be releasing the new version of Bliss with rMod very soon. I hate to delay rMod another day as it's ready but we'd prefer launching at the same time as we have Bliss v3.5 up and running. Huge update, Takistan and Utes are ready. Question for our community regarding Utes: Do you guys have any problem with no vehicle spawns for Utes? We're debating whether or not we should spawn vehicles. If you guys think we should have spawn locations, which vehicles and where? Look in the BlissHive.log for the line: call proc_loginSurvivor('XXXXXXXXX', 'USERNAME') XXXXXXXXX - user id (profile/survivor table) USERNAME - user name (profile table) That said, whitelisting for Bliss is being removed on v3.5 - which will be a mandatory update for all Bliss community/private servers. The best whitelisting option at the moment can be ran from your computer but has some issues with whitelists over 100 players in size: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/87083-whitelist-to-the-rescue/ We're looking for another alternative to this software is the creator decided (for unknown reasons) to stop development on this project.
  8. I recently bought a server and have no realised how time consuming it can be to make sure everything is running smoothly. Are you allowed to shut down the server for periods of time? I only have a small group of regulars joining and most of them play at the same time as when I'm at home. Pretty much every night I've had hackers join, with one even teleporting all the vehicles to Cherno. It's really difficult for me to monitor 24/7, so would it be possible to just shut down the server for half the day each day? I've checked the rules and havn't been able to find anything regarding this situation.

    Side-chat is turned off on the private hive, atleast for now. Cherno has always been a scary place with no communication and that is the way it's supposed to be in my opinion. The new server is now running on the following adress Name: DayZChernarus - (1.7.2.6/97240) - (UTC-3) - (Veteran|3D:ON|CH:OFF) - Two Vikings | Private Hive, Admins (PW: pvp) IP: 94.242.227.242 port: 2312 It is password protected but the password is in the name so it shouldn't become troublesome. Double amount of vehicles. Deathmessages are on (Did not have that on previous server) See you in Chernarus!

    Snipers aren't a problem. People should stop moaning.

    Cool, you may not think it has a place in a zombie apocalypse, but realistically you would find civilian grade rifles in and around a place like Chernarus (Being Russian). As for military snipers, maybe not but that still doesn't stop some people from having some fun. The only thing that can take out a helicopter (not the pilot) in under 20 shots is an anti-material rifle. With things like vehicles, there has to be something to counter them. It's a game.
  11. It really makes no difference, Dayz staff will be capable of seeing if they have suspicious activity, like spawning boxes/hopping in vehicles to fully repair them like they've been doing. So no problem :)

    Operation Dogfight -- Private Servers

    The idea is when u spawn instead of the same starting gear each time... There is a chance of a different set loadouts i.e Huntsman loadout 5%, hunting rifle cz (rare in lingor anyways), hunting knife Camper loadout 5% map + compass + water bottle Woodsman 5% hatchet + water bottle Default loadout 85% Note just came up with the above loadouts... so the % chance + loadout are still up for getting changed... Also like the thoughts of a different player skin for the loadouts if possible aswell (assuming they fit the role) -------------------- -------------------- Have already found examples of server side code for v.similar job. Just need to change it so instead of completely random there is a % chance. Am hoping to have it done at the latest by thursday, work+rl etc... :( note:- Server Vehicle spawns reduced to 50 for now, atleast till i get to add in more spawn locations + different vehicles

    I am no lawyer, I have no college experience, but this accusation is lacking real evidence, so I ask that these points be clarified. +Why was the only tent shown one that had no scripted equipment as described? +No direct proof was shown that the battleeye ban messege was from that server? Why wasn't it included in the video? +What's to prove that this "informant" existed. I understand privacy must be kept, but for the actual abuse accusation, his testimony is key. This further asks the question how did you actually find it? +Is it wrong for players to horde vehicles? Even if it may be an admin? Whats to stop anyone from just finding it and taking it from them? +Use of satchel charges? Destroy evidence key to your arguement before documentation? Strange. Not only once, but four times you did this, and none of this equipment was documented? For someone who claimed to be doing us justice and "planned" this event, this didn't cross your mind? +Why wasn't the names of the accused taken with the server name included? Such as holding the "i" button to prove direct association? +Whats to prove this Scurvynuts was actually him. A problem exists within the program that one can change their name while keeping the Guid the same, creating the ability to mask one's identity? This would cause the player ranking to show multiple scurvy characters? +Why was the equipment used by the four other personnel not also documented to prove the equipment used was also legitimate? +It was also stated that the server was reset multiple times? Other than heresay where is the direct evidence for this? 10. As a server admin: You are not permitted to ban players for killing yourself or clan members. (no direct evidence presented) You are not permitted to ban for suspected cheats or exploits, you need solid evidence, IE logs. (n/a) +Finally, I ask this directly to the Global Forum Moderator. With the large gaps in this arguement you were quick to decide this case "approved" even stating that, "But beware those screenshots could easily be of another server, before X or Y happened." What is the basis of this confirmation when no real direct evidence was presented?

One thing I will say is, if your on a fresh server try placing a tent sticking some gear in it save the bugger, then restart, your .rpt file should now be modified with the tent placement listed... Just below that a list of server vehicles should now be available...however you may have to wait for the heli or place additional tents etc I had a fresh server 1 hr old no vehicles, placed a tent restarted and I had all but heli Coincidence or ? Try it nowt to loose
  15. Server says status unknown so im unable to restart the server or stop. Could you guys look into this as i cant even restart my server now. I restarted it earler when we couldnt connect when we went back onto it we noticed it was night time and our vehicles wernt there when the vehicles we had should of been right next to us and also should of been day time.     DayZ Standalone Suggestion

    My suggestion is simply that if rocket decides to implement new maps that he should try to add a winter tundra map. This could add many new features especially to temperature for obvious reasons. It would also make driving more difficult and the need to maintain your vehicles. I think this would make a great map and add many new features to DayZ.

  19. Anyone who's looking for a great server, well run by trustworthy, impartial admins, regular restarts to keep vehicles spawning, join this server. More importantly, FAVOURITE it, and keep coming on!!
  20. My group and I's private hive have been having the same problem. I had to ban atleast 50 people yesterday due to spawning vehicles and ammo boxes. It'll slow down soon though, once that new bypass is detected the hackers will thin out like they always do.
  21. I know you will never implement something unrealistic to deter banditing, like warping you into a prison for 2 hours if you kill more than x number of survivors in less than 20 minutes. Personally if the game turns out to be good, I will buy the game solely to shoot each and every survivor that I see on sight with no explanation. I wouldn't do any quests/mission or whatever shit you'll try to implement to keep people busy doing something else than deathmatching. I will not coop, I will not do missions, I will not waste my time looking for rare 'survival' items like power generators or building supplies. I will look for a gun and I will shoot each and every survivor that I see with absolutely no reason at all. When people turn into clans for safety, and start trusting no one outside of their clan, I would apply and join clans on here, reddit or any other site, join and kill all of the clan members and blow up their stash of vehicles and loot. In a couple of days, I will turn dayz standalone into nothing but a deathmatch w/ zombies like dayzmod is about. And when I am done turning dayz into dayzmod, I will sell my copy of dayz standalone.
  22. Well, i am spectating on my server to keep it clean and it's working. Keep in mind that i DO NOT play the game, i just host it. Vehicles & gear have no value to me, they are just pixels.
  23. Just throwing some things out there off the top of my head: 1. Weapons plentiful - Lots of standard M16s around (government came in, military personel everywhere). Ammo RARE (they killed as many zombies as they could but still died)... Make the ammo spawn as 0.01% instead. End result? Tons of people using melee weapons, and pulling out the guns only for PvP. Makes zombies more dangerous... Plus - everyone walking around with a weapon but do you shoot them or not? Maybe they don't even have ammo... 2. FM Radios and also - FM TRANSMITTERS. Would be awesome if there were radio towers around that you could hook into and broadcast radio signals from - community radio stations? Or misleading traps being broadcast over the radio... Safe zones broadcasting warnings or such things. Also - radio relays which work for everyone, but you can blow them up or take away their power source/etc to deny communications to an enemy/anybody in the area. EDIT: How cool would a community radio station be where you could record say a maximum 1 hours loop that you can transmit (so you can upload a message/news feed/music)... 3. ARMA2 ACRE style communications using mostly unencrypted chatter over finite distances (think UHF 40ch radios, some radios with 500mW energy, rarer ones with 5mW, etc. Encrypted radios extremely extremely rare (0.001% ish). Means squads far away from each other can't communicate unless they have a command type radio or a vehicle radio, close together they can communicate unless they're in a valley or behind a hill or something. Check out the ShackTac whisper/yell mod they use with this too. A player nearby you can hear you talking (like direct chat) but if you yell, they can hear you further away - or if you whisper they can only hear you very close up... 4. Strongholds. So for example - if you secure a selected area or clear zombies out of a certain building and you have the items to fortify it - you can choose to spawn in an NPC when you logout to protect it. NPCs only RETURN fire at normal players or heroes, but auto-fire at bandits within range. So you can have a building that you logout of with four friends, and the NPCs will attempt to defend it. When you log in, you replace the NPC, or if the NPC died, you log back in the same place but don't get a new NPC spawn ability for 24 hours... Makes for ad-hoc bases and means no city will be completely safe ever, even if you're the only one on the server. Needs to be tested - maybe you can create a group of people by their individual names/Hive ID so that your NPC doesn't fire on other friendlies in the area or other friendly NPCs? Conditions for spawning the NPC might be - Your NPC hasn't died in the last 24 hours. - You're in a 'group' (make sure you can't just log out randomly somewhere and leave your NPCs everywhere) - You have created a 'stronghold' of sorts (some kind of barricades on special doors/windows in the building) and the NPC can ONLY spawn inside there. - Your NPC uses the same weapons you have whether that's a pistol or a SAW. - Ammo used by NPCs is counted against your usage so you probably want to create strongholds in less frequented areas (or maybe Ammo is NOT counted against your usage to encourage people to use their NPCs. 5. ACE2 type physics for snipers. Given accurate windage, plus very scarce ammo, people are much less likely to sit on a hill and snipe into Cherno/Elektro. Firstly, they probably won't score a kill. Secondly, given the scarcity of ammo, they might want to save their ammo on targets with more ammo or with valuable items (bandits, players with custom skins/hats that you pickup after playing a while, etc). With this, add in a wind/drop calculator like in ACE, but make it that it needs a battery. It runs out of juice (just like a car) and they'll need batteries to power it. 6. BATTERIES. NV needs batteries. Batteries are almost as rare as NV so you only use NVGs some of the time - like when scanning a field to see if it's safe to cross as night or when stalking an enemy. 7. Separate scopes from the weapons. AIM sights, holo sights, ACOG sights, NV sights - each require a backpack slot. But they work on the weapons they're designed for and any of those. If you find an M4 with a sight, take the sight, leave the M4, put the sight on your M14 instead, or your M16 instead. 8. Vehicles plentiful, gas rare. 9. Custom clothes you can pickup. If you can pickup like a bulletproof vest for example, it might give you a little more protection from 9mm bullets to the chest. But it also marks you to everyone as a player who's probably geared up and potentially a good kill for loot. So finding it is good, but wearing it might not work out so well for you. Maybe people will leave it in their pack until they start PvP-ing. 10. I44 style hand movements. Would be cool if you could signal people in a squad with just a few hand movements (3 or 4 easy to use ones with obvious meanings...) - halt - pointing in direction (indicate where another player or object is quite easily) - get down! People could use these instead of direct chat or radio chat so that enemies close can't hear them. 11. IEDs! Wouldn't it be awesome if you could slowly over time become a bomb maker? Every time you make an IED there's the chance it might injure you but eventually you get skilled at them the more kills you get. Players in vehicles need to watch out for IEDs on the roadside - max damage might be to take out the wheels of a vehicle (not destroy it completely) but its enough to stage a pretty effective ambush! EDIT: 12. I don't necessarily agree with russian weapons - I think you can leave the weapons pretty much the same as they are. Just make it so you need batteries for NV, add in Wind and Auto-ranging (means you need a range computer for snipers), very small amounts of ammo - snipers won't engage unless it's a sure kill and they're GOOD. And they won't engage unless it's very profitable for them - no point shooting into Cherno because it's too dangerous to reach the body of the dead guy - only good for target practice but with scarce ammo, who can afford to do that? I'll have to think of some more... EDIT: 13. Shoot out of CARS!! Crazy inaccuracy (can't hit the broad side of a barn), but at least you can return fire out the window instead of being a sitting duck driving away. Plus the car chases would become more interesting. EDIT: 14. Ability to mod vehicles - perhaps you can pickup a M249, plus some scrap metal and if you are someone good with your hands (you've crafted a few things in the past) you can create a in vehicle mount! M249 mounted to the passenger seat of a car - removes the windscreen (you get RAINED ON/visibility goes down in bad conditions) but you can shoot out the front. Ability to put similar mounts on the side windows/back windows so you can temporarily mount weapons for better aiming while driving. EDIT: 15. DEPLOY against objects. So even without bipod, you can brace the weapon on a car/wall/window sill/table - and reduce recoil. Effects compound if the weapon is fitted with a bipod (but a bipod takes longer to deploy/undeploy). So now you can get out of a car under fire, and deploy against the car, reducing your visibility to the enemy while also reducing your recoil. EDIT: 16: Specialisation. Each new life, your previous specialisation gets erased. You can level up every skill to like 4 out of 10, but to increase past that you have to choose just one specialty. You can increase your skill by reading books you find on your chosen topic or performing actions in your chosen field. Off the top of my head I'm thinking: - Mechanic (create vehicle mounts, repair vehicles, mod vehicles, etc) - Builder (create more elaborate bunkers, concrete fortifications as opposed to sandbag/wood fortifications) - Medic (can heal faster/better/using less supplies and at the top levels, can revive 'dead' players up to 5 minutes after they die) - Weapons Smith (can convert Armour Piercing to Hollow Point, can clean/fix weapons/make them more accurate/clean them/etc) - Explosives Expert (can create IEDs, convert RPGs to Satchels, convert Satchels to blasting charges for digging out underground bases much faster) - Survivalist (can scavenge roots for food, ground water for water, create ad-hoc camo shelters in the woods, ad-hoc bandages, booby traps [think Predator style]) - Weapons Expert (only class that knows how to operate a sniper rifle [just make it so only this class can hold breath when looking down sight, use range computer/etc]) The idea behind specialisations is that someone can theoretically setup a shop somewhere and people might need their expertise in one of these areas to help them. This would discourage them from killing these people cause if they die they can't help them in the future either cause it takes time to level up. In a squad you can have a bunch of people, each of them specialising and working together to help each other. EDIT: 17: SEASONS. A very fast seasonal shift, perhaps every 2 to 3 days the season changes from - Summer (liquids required more often, body armour/heavy clothing causes fatigue much faster and dehydrates much faster, hats slightly decrease liquid requirements) - Autumn/Spring (Nothing in particular needed, can wear body armour without adverse effects, liquids go down as normal. Just don't wear winter Jackets.) - Winter (SNOW!!! Heavy Jackets required and when you stop for an extended period of time you need heat packs [lot more than normal] or a fire nearby. Walking in snow makes that crunch-crunch sound. Heavy jackets come in a bunch of colours [bright colours] with a very rare amount being in camo or white). EDIT: 18. LIGHTS. Would be cool if you could create a power source: - Solar (silent power but only works at night in conjunction with large batteries and very low power output) - Diesel Generator (loud, works anytime, more plentiful, heavy to carry, high power output, requires diesel) Lights could be used inside bunkers to light it at all times (being underground you need lights to see properly without vent shafts). Lights could be used in 'safe zones' in conjunction with large floodlights to light up city areas at night time or 'safe areas' at night time, or electric fences at all times (try to cut through one, get knocked out)...

    Admin's can see our location?

    Options 1 & 3 are as bad as each other IMO, I mean come on spectating people is far too open to abuse and ESP/Maphack is cheating Option 2 is Admin abuse if they use it to see where players are. Either way I would find a new server to play on and report the Admin because they are scum in my eyes, I have admin access and can read the RPT file but would NEVER use it for finding out where a player is unless I knew he was 100% cheating and had TP'd vehicles to himself.
