there was a hacker on AU #500 (1.7.2.6/96584) [vet](GMT+1)Multiplay :: AUS Dayz 323 the time was 9:25 PM Eastern standard time i was running up to Devli's Castle and two guys spawn in a car in fround of me i kill one person then the player named (Cobra) spawned a winchester infrount of me i should him close range with a AS50 and nothing he then got into the car and tryed running me over when i then fired 6 rounds into it and ran up to Devli's Castle where i see they have spawned in boats, atvs and all the other vehicles in the game

There was a hacker on AU #500 as the title reads. Time was about 12:30 AM Eastern standard time Just a normal day when everyone on the server was teleported to one spot and the players, after the general "What happened?" reaction, scattered with just me and someone named "LEG!T" left. The hacker took control of my character and killed the LEG!T (who I suspect was the hacker after they stopped talking and moving, and also has 5 million zombie kills) and proceeded to spawn an AK in a box, teleport to all other players and hunt them down. Our journey came to an end with a player who just spawned. The hacker then proceeded to teleport all the vehicles on the map to one point, and after me telling him to get on the bike, and then him doing that, he left the server and I was stuck in place and eventually kicked from that server.

We currently have a player base of around 25 players but are looking for more, we have 3 established teams on the server that are all about the squad firefights. We have currently removed the helicopters due to the ridiculous imbalance they possess but there are plenty of land based vehicles around. I'm a noob/novice and have had generally good experiences on this server. I think my two squadmates would say the same. Main complaint is communication with players, I really wish the admins ran a website as well. Less severe is despite being a "24/7 daylight" server, I tend to log on for a bit at lunch and find the server in the dark. Not really a problem as it makes tents stick out like sore thumbs and finding crashed helis easier. Haven't had any problems with hackers, though I'm mostly a scavenger and avoid big shootouts. I do not know if vehicle hoarding is prohibited or not. I found a cache of vehicles (motor bike, UAZ and Ural). Seems a bit excessive to have both a UAZ and Ural, but I don't think this is really hoarding. I did steal one to share the wealth, though. Side chat is pretty busy if that's your thing. People are mostly friendly and rides are often offered over side chat. I find it distracting, personally, but everyone has their prefs. Starting with a crossbow is a nice touch. Hoping the server eventually goes whitelist, but don' think this can happen without a website. The following are more concern than criticism, as I'm hoping to get a response from some or one of the admins. Last weekend a friend of mine said that the server was password locked, I believe it was Sunday 10/7. I logged on the next day and there were no problems, so I cannot confirm this. This evening it appears the server may be down as I am stuck on "wait for host" despite having the proper Arma2 beta patch. DayZ Commander is getting no ping value and the server is grayed out. -

What is "numpty"? I don't care how you type, I was simply informing you and anyone else reading my post that you quoted, that your opinion will be considered more valuable when presented it in a manner consistent with someone who graduated from high school. This applies to everyone posting online and not just you. You are correct, a belief is something that usually has little more than circumstantial evidence to support it. This is why I said I have a belief and did not conclude that my observations were correct. Yes I did read your original post, as well as every post in this thread before I replied to each person that I felt I needed to reply to. I am doing my best to counter each point with the least amount of emotional content possible, however, without re-quoting a number of your posts, emotion is something that your posts are not lacking. Your arguments lack substantial evidence and thoughtful discourse. You rely on derogatory comments to drive others from the conversation, effectively ending the debate by being the only person left willing to comment. I do not disagree with certain aspects of your original post, however your conclusions in regards to the helicopter are flawed. I have spent the time to grid search the entire northern area of the map using vehicles and walking, the rendering of trees at distance still allows tents and vehicles to be easily spotted from the ground. The only difference is the amount of man hours it takes to conduct the search. In fact, my limited experience with multiple spotters in the helicopter you still must travel at less than 60 kph to have an effective search pattern. I have a hiding spot in the northern forest where the UAZ cannot be seen from the air, yet it is rather obvious from the ground. The problem is not with the helicopter, but with the rendering of objects at distance and this issue is not exclusive to being airborne as I pointed out in the previous paragraph. Having spent time introducing novices to the shooting sports, I would agree that it would be possible to teach someone the basics of operating a firearm in 10 minutes or less. I must point out however, that in only 10 minutes you could only cover the very basics of operation and maintenance and in no way would the student be proficient or effective with the firearm. How much of that 10 minute orientation would they actually retain? Using my wife as an example, she picked up the basics yet there were a number of areas where she was not proficient and needed to be reminded of the correct procedures. I would say that it took a total of two hours to train her to a reasonable level of proficiency and there are still things she doesn't retain, such as rapid magazine changes and clearing stoppages. A firearm is one of the simplest mechanical devices man has ever invented, so again you are correct, it isn't very likely someone with no experience in a helicopter is going to be able to get the turboshaft engine spun up never mind fly the thing in one hour. That said, how does this apply to the issue at hand, which is that the rendering of distant objects do not have the detail to effectively be used as cover for hiding places. I have read your responses and while you may not agree with me, I do not believe your responses were reasoned. I do not believe you put sufficient thought into your original post for it to be considered reasoned. I will not deny that you have made the occasional valid point, but you lack the social skills to effectively present them. I hope that you take the time to write an educated, thoughtful response so we can have a meaningful conversation. -

I see what you mean. I am not positive but in a C130 I am fairly sure the player can walk around the massive cargo hold. I imagine that these derelict ships would not be identified as vehicles, but mere objects like a building. This would prevent awkward vehicle mechanics applying to the vessels. As for flooded compartments, that would take more time to code, if possible. It wouldn't have to be complicated though.

Took this opportunity for a small patch to tweak some things. RELEASE 0.2.5 [CHANGE] M240, M249, Mk48 removed from barracks loots. M249/Mk48 left as HeliCrash loot, M240 no longer in game (Reducing to 2 LMGs now bring it in line with the 2 snipers and 2 silenced weapons) [CHANGE] Guns with optics removed from military loot. I just don't like the idea at all. Let's say you are either at airfield or approaching military tents but then your GF shows up at your house unexpected, you receive important call, etc. You just got screwed over for having a life. Playing 10 hours a day is already a big advantage (more time getting loot, more likely to find vehicles or crash sites, etc.), punishing someone for not giving a middle finger to the real world is just uncalled for. If you want the real thing, just enlist in the military.

you sir are win, as i can see the hardest part would be hull damage in sinking, not only that simulating the flooding in each compartment or whatever. This could be more interesting if in the distance there was(were?) some islands. It depends more on the power that they could tell, like vehicles do. One question before i go, what if boats let us fish? that could be nice. Oh yeah, the only bad thing is that the engine would have a bad time letting you walk inside a ship, you know from that fishing boat that the only way is to be "riding" it or in the passenger seat. And in arma campaign, you walk in an static object not a real vehicle that you could drive. So, what do we do to let us walk inside the ship but also let us drive it? Sorry if it makes no sense, gotta go and english not my lang. Love ur idea!!!

Okay okay dudes, something big is rolling here and it's definetly going the wrong way! Let me tell you something about DayZ Panthera/Vilayer/DayZ Commander and my view of this and why this discussion started. I noticed that many people out there are discussing what is not bad but many facts are forgotten and I dont want to see wrong stuff about me/the conflict used as arguments. Let me clear this first. I neither want DayzCommander to be removed, nor do I want Vilayer to be sued or to be gone. Although I personaly dont like their practice many customers are happy with them and they do a good job with hosting servers. Never the less there is stuff I get upset with and I will tell you what it is. I made the Dayz Panther port that was/is released on Tunngle at 28th of September. The port featured newly determined lootspawns for all custom buildings that are introduced by Panthera, and many small changes that made the map work with vanilla Dayz without changing too much of the gameplay. For example adding the ability to refuel your jerry can at fuelstations while their ability to automaticly refuel vehicles is removed. It became quite popular not only for the clients but for servers too. The serverfiles count over 200 dowloads and the clientfiles over 2500, not counting mirrors of communitys that host my files. It took me like three days to figure out how the basics work, what I have to change and how to make dayz work on Panthera Island. When Panthera by Vilayer was released I was just snoopy and wanted to find out what they did and stuff. I didnt bother about the second version in the first time because in my opinion a little competition is not bad to give some extra motivation. Up to that point everything was allright. But I started to get mad when things started to be unfair. So here are the facts that bothered me: -The denial of support for the community version of DayzPanthera from Dayz Commander: -Incompatibility: -Restricting access: -Copyright?! -Code stealing(Not the perfect words but my lack of english skills did not offer a better title) What makes me sad about this is that all this discussions are not necessary at all. Vilayer could have used the already existing port, it would have been okay for me. It was build and ment for the community and this includes everyone that plays Dayz. No matter which hosting company he rents his server off. It would have been even less work for them. They could of course make their own but then under the same conditions everyone makes a mod in the arma2 community. I dont want to say that my port is the ultima ratio. But for me it looks like they dont want somethign everyone can have, they use their monopol to spread their own stuff and make people bound to their services. And again I clearly dont want them to be removed or something, all I did was bringin my anger to their and the communitys attention. With success. That IceBreakr got involved was just a matter of time but the actions he takes are totaly independent from my point. Everything he does is related to his Island. About Dayz Commander, well its a great tool that helped many players to play this game, of all those that just want to consume (not ment to be negative in this case) because arma2 can be confusing sometimes. Never the less, taking others hard work and releasing it under new name is not okay in my opintion. It always suggests that they did all of it on their own, and thats definetly not true. For the future I hope that this kind of problems may not arise again. They are the result of lack of communication and care taken of each other. We all should just have one goal. Enlarge the experience of this great modification and the great Arma series. Currently I'm working on another big project. It will be released at the same place and under the same conditions DayZ Panthera is released. Maybe Vilayer are interested in cooperation on this and we work hand in hand to bring it to the attention of the players. One could learn much of each other. I'm open for it as Teamwork is always the way to go. They are free to contact me about it. If not its okay for me too as long as this bullshit does not repeat itself. One last word. This are facts and my personal feelings about it. You dont like them? Its okay, but dont even bother to reply and bash me, I wont discuss with you. I just want to point out whats going on here before people get a wrong picture of the situation. Many discussions are going on here and on reddit and wherever not but not everything is true. I wont discuss my feelings of this. This was only ment to inform you. I personaly would love to see nobody answering at all but just reading the wall of text and keeping it in mind. But I fear it wont take long for the first troll :/. Meh. -

It's 11:30 CEST. I'm on US 1204, minding my own business, driving my freshly fixed up car, parking it where my friends logged out and I'm about to log out when suddenly: Red chain. I think nothing of it and that it'll go away any second, like it usually does. But instead, suddenly, I teleport in my car, to somewhere on the map, where seemingly ALL vehicles are. I see a guy with a Ghilie suit running about, and aiming at me through the window - My car is blocked in between a bus and a tree. I get out, hit the floor and think about taking a fight with this scumbag, but log out instead. Don't want my 56 day old character to die. Now I'm here. The other players that were online at the time are named "Jimmy" and "David". Please get rid of whoever did this. :(

I'm just concerned about 2 things in the standalone, im noticing that most people are just focusing on weaponry which for its just secondary, we should focus on survival terms and how zeds can be more dangerous ill suggest a couple of things and ill try to be quick! first of all zombies or zeds or whatever you wanna call em, im concerned about them not being dangerous enough in the standalone, i have seen many suggestions of how they should change but none of em seem a real treat or challenge for the players, some time ago i made some decent suggestions on how they can be improved in every term and im gonna post the suggestions real quick. Zombie skills, what is this? simple they should have some kind of animations or skills that can be really dangerous to deal with for example: 1- Zombies have a chance to grab on you for a couple of secs biting you in the process and immobilizing you for a few seconds, imagine the horror the player would feel and the team work that it would require for the game, lone wolves will have a hard time but they can still play alone it will just be harder. 2- Zombies have a change to make you drop your primary weapon when you are being overrun by them! i just cant imagine the tension you would feel is that happened and you are being overwhelmed 3- Zombies should not be able to pass through doors and stuff instead of that they should be able to break through doors and windows by hitting em! it would be fantastic to see you cornered in a building and see a bunch of zombies moaning and breaking through the building! i would shit bricks! 4- Zombies in berserk mode (lets say really pissed off infected) should have a chance that when they go after you they can do a mini-charge and tackle you! imagine being cool and all of a sudden BAM tackled by a zombie! i would have a heart attack man! it sounds AWESOME i don't know about you guys! but i would love that even if it sounds op for the zeds hahaha! 5- Military zeds should be extremely hard to kill because of their armor and should be faster thanks to the training they had in life! and they should be able to have all the above skills to be bad asses! Any other idea for this will be welcomed! this is just a start to make zeds harder! and i know... those ideas might be hard to implement but dang!! imagine the realism of it! the horror and all the new history´s you will hear with this kind of things! be creative give more ideas for the zeds which should be the center of the game or at least the survival part. Now in the other hand im concerned about the 50 calibers weapons, they are game breaking for me because they are just too powerful, and with the current mechanics in sniping terms they are just too easy to use!, all im saying is that its not fair to be 1 hit KO´ed when they hit you in any part of the body without even have to use real sniping mechanics! its just too easy and requires no planning! even worst with the as50 which is semi automatic... i mean... really? semi auto?.. those weapons can even explode vehicles with like 2 shots it just doesnt seem right for the game! they belong for a more advance game style like Arma itself! if you are a true lover of the this game you know they are not suppose to be around! all the other sniping rifles are acceptable! but in my opinion... i would just leave the cz550! its just too awesome and fits the environment of chernarus perfectly! LESS MILITARY WEPS FTW! give out your opinions! i love to see people that really care about the game posting and suggesting! -

Instead of quoting many msgs, i try to make some points, a sort of Q&A(it's my personal opinion of course...): Q: Legally, can Vilayer using those maps (we're talking about the maps for now, not the mod) in that way? A: Nope, they can't. They are using those maps for marketing purposes (if you browse the home page they are promoting their servers using these maps as a "feature"), this makes it a "commercial use". Q: Is that bad? A: For the map maker it is: if you make something for free, for the community, you would not like to see it used for commercial purpose, this is not only illegal, but it's demotivating. Q: Is it that bad for the communit? A: Today is not: as a normal user, you'll find the map, you'll play it. In the long term it will be, because the creator may not continue to create new contents for free, since his natural conclusion would be: "if that guy is making money using my work.. at this point i will make money myself!". Q: What else is doing Vilayer that doesn't good? A: it is modyfing the original mod, making it incompatible with the original version. If you analyze the original Panthera and the Vilayer Panthera mods, you'll see that most of the loot spawns coords matches perfectly: they literally RIPPED the work done by someone else, rebranded it, added something new (ie: some vehicles spawns) and made it "exclusive": so if you install the original mod you cannot join their server, but even worse: if you install their mod you cannot join the "original" server. Is this illegal? Probably not, it's against the community principle. Q: So why blaming at DayZCommander? A: DayZCommander decided to include Vilayers maps instead of the original ones, so it is promoting the above "activity" (in part illegal, in part just "evil"), it is also promoting the Vilayer server renting (there's a dedicate button on the main page of the app). Are DayzCommander devs doing anything illegal? Absolutely not, but (IMO) they doesn't deserve to be on the dayz webpage: they are promoting a commercial product (Vilayer hosting), pushing their "evil" (and in part illegal) politic. Q: What's the solution? A: it is VERY simple. Vilayer can continue to host anything they wants. They just need to ask for the PERMISSION to the map owner (if the map is used for commercial purpose: marketing) and they DOESN'T have to modify the work made by someone else: why making a "branded" version when there's already the mod available? So the community isn't fractured between two versions of the SAME map and you can join any server you want (you're not "forced" to go on the Vilayer network). -
