You can convert the worldspace coordinates to ingame coordinates using this tool: http://snuletek.com/arma2coordcalc/ - they are similar to ingame coordinates except they are multiplied by 100 and on chernarus the y coordinate is instead 15360 - y. I believe you can make non-dayz vehicles repairable by adding parts to the database entry (whether not having the parts means the vehicle doesn't function I do not know, I just know it lets you use parts on the vehicle I haven't looked any further). You can add buildings to the deployable tables for now until we support bliss's new buildings tables.

Server restart = Server reset?
4L4N replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not something that normally happens. There was a bug a while back where sometimes on a server restart the tents and vehicles script did not load correctly. But at the next restart everything was back to normal. Most good servers do a restart at least once every 24 hours. Some restart 3-4 times a day. You could be also talking about a HIVE reset ? It very rarely happens, and if it does, it's only on Private Hive Servers. -

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
CptMugwash replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
More Vehicles - Dune Buggy, Tow Truck, Campervan, Train. The Train could be a diesel engine for hauling cargo but no extra carriages, the track in Chernaurus could be a complete circuit and extra buildings could be added like an engine shed, etc. The Train could spawn 1 per server at any various station, may need repairs such as engine, scrap metal, windscreen, fuel tank, maybe, open for discussion. The Train can be derailed if you take a corner too fast, or there is an explosion, a vehicle or other items such as tank traps are on the track, etc. Torrential Rain - I know it has been mentioned before and I thought I'd add to it. If you are caught in a torrential downpour for a few minutes and unable to find shelter you succumb to illness, cold, hypothermia. With more enterable buildings I have noticed some have fire places, when it rains you are unable to make a fire and so you could use a fireplace with wood pile and matches to warm you up. However, other players outside of the building may see the smoke rising from the chimney, aswell as zombies, perhaps? Wheelbarrow - Can be used to haul extra items around, quicker then carrying a holdall. Can also be used to move injured or unconscious players. Cannot be placed in vehicles or tents. Could be useful for med to large loot raids where a vehicle does not spawn zombies or loot unless this is fixed? -
Not Nessacarily but Possible if not probable.
TheDragon117 posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Don't know that this is the best place to put this but its a possible if not probable. So last night, 10/22/12 starting at about 2354 EST and ending somewhere around 0111 on 10/23/12 was playing on Atlanta 2040 server with a friend who just got into Day Z. He spawned in Tulga I was west of Cherno. while running to find him found a (red)Skoda in the field outside of cherno, good condition just out of gas seemed amazing luck filled it up and started to pick up my buddy. While driving up he ran into a bandit that offered him some help and pulled up on an ATV. Gave him NV goggles and and some supplies, Started to sound a little fishy but we rolled with it. Met up in a small town north of Electro. Where while I was struggling to put some gas in my car this random stranger bandit (though oddly friendly) spots and Offroad pick up in the tree line, Ironically or at least oddly moments after I said something about that would be my dream find. Had some loot in it full gas. Seemed a little more suspicous. Drove back to cherno the only funcioning gas station I've found. (I know there are more, but the only one I've sucessfully used) While refilling the two Jerry cans I had found our new friend spots a Civilian V35S. At which point we've a few angry zeds running around so I saw all three drive and we'll hide our glorious find. We drive to a secluded location that seems safe and our new friend points out the amazing loot in the V35S. Shortly after rather then taking anything or really inspecting it he says he has to sign off and go to bed. During the drive we did spot 2 Old Bikes in the road (one of which I creamed on accident) and during one of the fuel stops our bandit friend was stuck in a dance for a minute. (Which I've read now only hackers can do). I suppose the main reason I post is out of CYA. If indeed he was hacking (I realize very probable) I don't want to get blamed for the hacking of vehicles or equipment. but I certainly wasn't going to point it out when he could kill my character right off the bat. He was a nice guy. Helped us out with no malicious intent I could notice, but rules are rules I suppose. At the time I was just grateful not to get ripped in half by a person spawning up next to me as I've read about. Since I never actually saw any of the sketchy items get spawned in I did hesitate to accuse especially since I also didn't want to get ripped in half by a person who was being friendly but might have found me pointing it out to be a reason to take me to pieces. I was fortunately frapsing the entire thing if any moderators or server admins wish to see video I'll gladly supply. (its about 2 hours worth but I can handbrake it to reduce the size so that you can see it in entirety) All and all either we were way more lucky then I've ever been in Day Z or there was some shady things going on. Not that I don't appreciate the loot, as I've spent the last 2 months looking for a vehicle, let alone 3. I also have no desire to do anything to violate the games functions, especially cause I really enjoy playing the 2040 server. I'm willing to forfiet the loot if need be, (would rather not, but rules are rules.) Now I know some readers think its odd I didn't post the bandits name, but I'm not so much reporting him as just covering my .... If server admin or dev, or such take the time to review the logs they'll undoubtedly find him if things were hacked. At least thats how I understand it, not being a server admin, or hacker the logs thing only makes sense in thats what I've noticed gets a lot of people caught. Don't know how just know that is apparently "the proof" to have. If admin asks for it I will provide it just didn't want to smear the guy since he was incredibly generous to us. -
Since I am at work and cannot view your video, I will just assume it contains murder and mayhem. I have my own "Doing 'em Dirty... Oh so Dirty" story from just last night. I was on a 14km walk looking for vehicles when I was about to give up. I left the Northeast Airfield on a straight line to Guba Bay to check for the PBX. If it wasn't there, I was just going to log out. Exactly on my straight line (I didn't have to turn my head at all, in was right in front of me), I found a campsite with two tents and a police car (It was an "extra vehicles" private hive, it looked like a french police car). I had finished rooting through one tent when I looked under the tree and noticed a weapon barrel sticking out. I approached slowly and realized there was someone prone under the tree just laying there completely still. So I immediately double-tapped him in the face with my G17. "Dunon was Killed." I then load what I wanted into the police car and drove off. About five minutes later, side chat pops up with "WTF WHO KILLED ME." I gleefully replied that it was infact, me, and that I had stolen his police car and weapons. He rages at me that him and his friend will hunt me down and kill me while I taunt him mercilessly. I later asked him how long he had been afk and his response was pure gold. "Like 10 minutes, I was taking a dump." Now THAT, is doing someone dirty. What is really hilarious, is about 30 minutes before, I myself had left my character AFK to go take a dump. If I had just held it, Dunon probably would not have been AFK when I arrived at his camp. This reminds me of the graphic novel/movie "Surrogates." Where people have to disconnect from their avatars to go use the bathroom and the result is the robot staring into space, not moving.

Perma-identity. Nickname is permanent. Nickname as face. Cover face - conceal nickname.
[email protected] replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I already liked this idea on day 1, the thought process here is a grand example of how the "suggestions" section should work. Even if we do get the holy grail of facial editors, there is no way to be certain you would ever recognise anybody just from their face. Computer generated characters based on the same models will always look similar. This idea fills in the gap of necessary player recognition, with a little bit of a logical compromise. I like it. I have never liked the way vehicles and player tags are shown clearly for 100s of meters and through solid objects. I just wanted them out of DayZ altogether. Even with the fade/colour/transparency over distance, the tags MUST take into account direct LOS, or any tags, including this nameface function, will simply become a tool for hidden-faced players to stalk non-hiding players. With a functional "Line Of Sight" mechanic in game, this could work brilliantly! I love the idea of, even with my rag-tag flock of heroes, covering up our faces for a night time trek into unknown territory, but then how could we recognise eachother? IMO, Nametags, as they are in ArmA, should always be off, but this "nameface" tag, if properly implemented, should allow people to recognise close allies, even through disguise. I don't believe this would have any bearing on "difficulty" This is certainly not penalizing unfriendly players, it's simply allowing the community the potential to make decisions about players, based on an earned reputation. (or lack thereof) There would be nothing preventing people from recognising you through the means we currently have, (eg. telling people who you are) but this suggestion could allow for word of mouth to have a greater effect on how other players would interact when they encountered you.Just one thought. I would prefer it if a players' name only shows up when you mousewheel over them, as opposed to whenever you look at them. Could mean the difference between actively trying to identify someone, and simply looking in their direction IRL. Perhaps unrealistic, but still strikes me as more authentic. I suppose it's a matter of perspective. -
The goal in Dayz should be survive, not pvp
Sutinen replied to ElysionField's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree on the weapon part, I mean who the fuck would use a .50 cal rifle with rare ammo on zombies, when it does about 8 times more damage than it's health? They are completely designed for PvP. I know their main use is supposed to be vehicles, but trust me, it's not. It's about as easy to carry and use as a smaller rifle, which makes it the perfect weapon for PvP. -
What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The following will be a collection of Standalone facts alongside my own thoughts and opinions. New and variable diseases with different symptoms and cures are already confirmed. (Rocket said they have already done the motion capture for the vomiting animation) Complete inventory UI overhaul is already confirmed. This was necessary because they are changing inventory items to actually be items instead of just game data that says "this person has an M16 and two cans of beans." This is also mandatory because they are implementing individual item customization which requires each item be its own separate entity. Item and weapon damage, decay and customization are already confirmed. Because they are adding more clothing and making clothes have real purpose, I would assume they would also fix all character models and skins to work with all clothing items. They are also taking the best bits of code from private hives, many of which include a vast array of new player skins. Playing with the gamma settings so you can see at night would be very hard to fix. Live with it. Or get a basement prison doctor to do a surgical shine job on your eyes in exchange for a pack of cigarettes. (+20 cans of beans if you knew this reference without googling it) I am truly curious to see how they handle vehicles in standalone. I play regularly on a very high vehicle server, however it is balanced by them all spawning with no wheels and random engine/hull/fuel damage. It is very difficult for one person to fix a vehicle on their own, but it is still possible (I use an Alice Pack with 3 tires, plus a Jerry can and another tire in my inventory. Guns are less important than fixing your first car IMO). I think that system, combined with fuel being much rarer, should provide the balance they are seeking. The difficulty in using vehicles shouldn't be finding one when there are wrecked cars everywhere. The difficulty should be getting it running and then keeping it running. Again another example of item decay being an important core mechanic to periphery mechanics. They are also adding an industrial interior that resembled a machine shop to me. Perhaps these locations could be used for car part and weapon repair? Variable temperature and environmental effects are also confirmed. This makes securing warm clothing critically important. This, combined with new diseases, will ensure the environment becoming a real threat again. I do not know if they are adjusting hunger against food spawns. I do know that they have rebalanced the locations of water pumps and ponds. I also believe thirst is about where it should be in terms of decay. What I think they should do however is remove soda's curing thirst and have them provide some other benefit. Force thirst to be cured by water alone. Then you could add some kind of purification element to pond water (campfire + boiling?). All you would need is to add a findable cookpot to the toolbelt. Personally I would have no problems with sandbags and barbed wire *IF* they actually stay removed when you dismantle them. Currently they are used for trolling too much because of their permenance. Smaller and harder to see items stashes that hold less would be greatly appreciated. Also tents that get run over should be destroyed for good and the items inside, destroyed. The Airfields should have the generators functioning with the lights still on. They are, and should continue to be, main sources of player encounters. Perhaps also, the only unlimited fuel sources. In addition to the large number of new loot locations, any additional item sets will vastly increase the RNG in what you find. If in order to get night vision, you needed a broken set, a new battery and optics, it would make the pieces easier to find, but finishing such a valuable item actually harder. Certain new maps I've heard about do something similar to this, but it would probably take the Standalone item overhaul to fully realize such a loot system. Really great military guns will be more difficult to perfect when you could enter the barracks and find scopes, receivers and barrels for every gun except the one you have. Make the high-powered rifles require boku assembly and you've instantly made them harder to get, yet more accessible if you could find parts for them in crashed hum-vees randomly around the map. -
Vilayer-DayZPlanet Hive Wipe?
azynkron (DayZ) replied to DrainBamaged's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We've had all kinds of issues with vehicle spawns, especially on Chernarus. Vehicles spawns in clusters with sometimes up to 8 vehicles. Usually some of them disappear after a server restart which is a night mare since you never know which one. No choppers. We literally combed the map. But that could be the spawn cycle. Crash sites works though. -
US 1037 has gone private! Many vehicles + side chat + very active admins!
ZedFewd replied to spankimus's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I don't believe so Medic. Also, I'd like to mention a couple of things about 1037. It does have a side channel chat. The admins would appreciate it if players kept it free of profanity and abusive/offensive language. Warnings are given and boots will follow if ignored. There are several regular players on this server not-including the admins. Many have vehicles but by no means are there vehicle hoarders. Vehicles are there and just need some parts to get running. Point being, for new players logging on to 1037 for the first time: The best thing to do would be to play smart, and be courteous. Don't log on and immediately start spamming side channel asking for rides. On public servers that'll typically get you murdered and you should employ the same cautious attitude here until folks get to know you a bit. We're trying to build a fun server for folks that can play on without having to deal with script-kiddies. Want to be a bandit? Bring it! We love to mix up a little PvP now and then. Shooting on-sight is not going to get you in hot-water with the admins, but if you see someone and they don't see you, you can speak to them in the direct communication channel if you want to announce yourself. If you get killed or sniped, be mature and accept that this is a part of the game. It took me a while to understand that and not rage at being murdered. To be honest, I think I have the most fun when I have nothing and am looking to gear myself up again. When I'm all pimped out I'm almost afraid to move alone for fear of losing all my hard-earned gear LOL. -

Vilayer-DayZPlanet Hive Wipe?
DrainBamaged replied to DrainBamaged's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Follow up question as well: Does this "performance tweek" restart the timer for vehicles and aircraft spawning? Because at the time of this incident we were still waiting for our vehicles and aircraft to start spawning back in after the last one on the 17th-18th of October, 2012. Just curious so I can tell my pissed off players something. -

Perma-identity. Nickname is permanent. Nickname as face. Cover face - conceal nickname.
Miltrivd replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't like it at all. The solutions to the problems people have pointed out are not, just opinions, and seems to be aimed at penalizing unfriendly players. So, for starters, I've always played in servers with no nameplates, no side chat or anything that eases up the survival experience (except 3rd person, I do use that handicap). When you meet me for the first time there should be no way for you to know who I am or what my name is unless I explicitly tell you, and even then, you'll have to take my word for it. This bring a whole set of possibilities that your system denies. I can't fake identities to people I don't trust completely. I can't fake to get away with something, trick, scam, or just because... I don't know, don't want some random guy or gal know who I am. Is up to the players to offer the information. Then again, any kind of identification belongs to lower difficulty settings, so maybe this idea could lead to be implemented in those sections. I've seen and lived (once) the rare situation when an enemy player is literally in front of you, looking directly at you, and the dead of the night, shadows, or ghillie, plus staying perfectly still can save your hide. Identification also makes the game easier. You wouldn't need to check where the players are by communicating, simple use the crosshair to locate them, again, this is already in game in easier difficulty settings. So it applies there, not on the game as a whole. Changing names when dying brings to discussion the possibilities of role playing. Some people like it, some not, some do it, some don't. Humanity is already a fixed, account wide stat, so I don't think Rocket is aiming for allowing *fresh starts* with different lives, but that's not set on stone. Your system denies completely any player choice in the matter. --- Said all that, I think there are some good things that could come up from this, here are my suggestions to your system and how to apply them to all difficulties. Instead of showing the player name, allow for tagging after several encounter. Example: I find a survivor (Nameplates ON: in the crosshair I see Unidentified survivor. Nameplates OFF: nothing), after spending a set amount of time in one sitting or split through different encounters, the game allows me to tag (assign a name to said player), this will simulate the ability to remember the voice and the face of the survivor after sharing some time together. This should be tweaked according distance and time, since it's easier to remember someone that was next to you 2 hours, than someone that has shot you from afar 4 times. In NP:OFF (Nameplates:OFF) servers this could be replaced for the assigned name tag being shown to the player that set it when the recognized survivor used Direct Communication, voice or written chat. Tagging allows for flexibility. Let's say I pair up with a guy, 3 hours, we help each other and fix 2 vehicles, when we are about to part ways I get the trigger that after several encounters or time together now you can recognize this survivor. I ask him What's your name? If he gives me a name, I use it on the tag (there could also be a space for a short description that we could check in some kind of notebook) but he doesn't want to give me his name I could write *the guy that helped me fix a vehicle*. I would remember *that guy*, but I wouldn't be forcing his name out of him and I couldn't know if the name he gave me was real or not. This could lead to interesting mechanics and people finding out if he was who he claimed to be in later encounters or whatever. I don't think Rocket will take the system if it restricts player choice in any way. P. S.: I do however like quite a lot the idea that covering your face could make more difficult for people to recognize you. I answered your Reddit post with the same. -

vcmedic replied to Elite Gaming's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I like the mods you've enabled but you need more active admins. Within 30 minutes of joining your server someone out of the blue started being a complete ass to me over side chat. Also, more vehicles is a nice thought, but they aren't of much use with all the extra heli's because people just fly around the map stealing vehicles from camps and hoarding them. Meh, maybe I've just been spoiled because another server I play on has a good community and a ton of admins who keep it that way. Anyways, good work with the rmod stuff for sure. -
First post (yay for being able to use ' in my forum name.) Literally love the game to bits and i'm gonna throw out some curveballs, maybe you'll like them, maybe not! lemme know. Sleeping on disconnect: This is a quasi change to tents, which although an awesome idea to store masses of gear, is fundamentally flawed with the whole seamlessness between servers. Mainly that to use a tent (which has a 50% chance to bug i've read (please correct me)) you must remain on that same server. I say scrap it as a storage device, they're mostly used as bait for new players (sneaky bandits) and i've only seen one person utilise them properly. Introduce sleeping on disconnection, which unless you're inside or have a tent in your inventory, lowers your temperature considerably on reconnect as well as food and water as is. (Side effect is they should only take one backpack slot as a 1 man tent can be squeezed up to smaller than a thigh and can be swung off the outside of any military grade backpack.) Medical training: Could your average joe bandage a bullet wound? no, much the same reason we can't give ourselves blood bags. Would it be possible to find a use able loot that allowed you to become the master of medicine, unlocking further options. I'm talking the full kit and caboodle: morphine, antidotes, blood bags, bandages and epi pens. (Anyone can take painkillers.) Your basic player should start off with the ability to tourniquet wounds, stemming the blood loss until he can be bandaged by a trained player or train himself to self bandage, (naturally this would have to be tweaked until balance/fairness was found but starting with 2 blood loss per 5s until bandaged would give the survivor a mission.) (Maybe this training manual could be found in those empty medical tents outside balota.) Decrepit: Currently your injuries amount to being completely drunk with bird flu or dead. Limping? Broken arms (disabling double handed weapons?) What's our limits here Rocket? Vehicles: Where are the vehicles!!! There should be vehicles in varying states of disrepair. (Yes, I know you can find them and repair them.) but they should be much more common, I should be able to walk into cherno and find 2/3 cars with like about a tablespoon of petrol and in such bad repair that if it gets sneezed on it could explode. Then there's repairing them which could also be a learned skill, especially when it comes to fixing the engine. It'd be so sweet to have a 1/1000 chance of finding a full working blackhawk with a 10km range. Change the spawn backpack from coyote to the smallest option: Self explanatory. Diazepam: Hospital loot for snipers, stops screens shaking and steadies aim (think metal gear solid.) Could lead to a dependency and cold turkey. Tazers/Stun Darts/Zip cords: Maybe I wanna put a survivor out without killing him? maybe I want to tie his hands together and make him walk into electro. Or possibly I just want to tazer him, tie him up, chuck a flare on his body and fire an enfield in the center of solinichiy. The player could see perfectly but would have no control of his character for ~nth amount of time (balance.) The zip cords would break after ~nth amount of time (balance.) aswell. Mental well being: After so long in the wilderness by yourself your character should slowly lose his mind, ranging from mumbling to himself to outright lunatic screams for no reason. Cure? interaction with humanity, being helped or helping others. (This would have to take at least 50 days to come into affect to keep sole players happy.) So, give me your tears! bad, good, wut?, this game can only get better. Hope you like my mental meandering. Cheers

New UK Private Hive Server With Password - cheese4gaming

We set up the green zone for positive interactions between players and to give fresh spawns a fighting chance. We didn't do it to give bandits a place to steal all they want without the fear of death. We have previously stated that if players find any unattended vehicles or dead body's in this area they are fair game, however we treat a road block in this area as pvp because that is one player actively trying to harm or rob another player. We encourage this kind of banditry rather than a mindless KOS but not in our greenzone. New players should know this as we direct them all to our forum in there acceptance email. As for players not being creative in there methods of banditry. It is not a server rule but rather the personal preference of the admin that people are more creative in there banditry. We would love to see someone break the cycle of this sniping for gear attitude but no one has stepped up to the plate yet. I suggest that players take a stand against this kind of behaviour in-game with some kind of anti-bandit squad as any players sniping in theses areas usually do it in the same mindless spots and are not hard to find. Failing that I suggest using your judgement to make a risk assessment on the areas you visit as dayz is a game that rewards you for thinking about your actions and planning every location you visit and the route you take to get there. The Op is going to be edited now to make it more accurate to the server rules. We would really appreciate any of our current players discussing these kind of matters in our forum as we are more active in there and would like to see more activity in there from the community. -
Hi! Couple questions about phpMyAdmin. How do you know where exactly are these worldspace cordinates located and how to define your own worldspace for wanted location? Is it possible to add more spawn points to world_wehicle or do I just have to use those that are there allready? If I add non dayz vehicles they can not be repaired without rMod right? Is it possible to add buildings somehow? Thanks in advance. I have had this server couple days now and it is great. Really looking for player positions and inventories to be added in map.

Hey guys, for the majority of my time in DayZ (Around 3-4 months now) I've spent the majority of my time along the coastal cities, scavenging what I can, looking for other survivors, forming temporary alliances, getting them geared up, weapons, backpack, food, water and medicine and tools, then seeing them on their way, a lot better off for surviving than when I found them. I'd like to take this idea a little further, to begin with I'd like to try and form a squad or around 3-4 people, focusing first on getting ourselves in a good position to survive on our own, then eventually finding a place to set up camp, stockpiling supplies we find, always on the lookout for more and for survivors in need of assistance, recruiting more willing hands along the way. So, in the long run what we'd have is our own HQ where we go to rest after a hard time out on the hunt, in an ideal world a few vehicles to make trips far inland much more feasible, then from there set ourselves missions such as: Fuel runs Excursions to find more food, medicine and better equipment Manhunting (not to be taken in the sinister context, merely looking for more survivors to help out) these are just a few examples of course, it sounds like a lot of work and effort and in actuality, it probably is, but to me, the most satisfying experiences in this game come from helping out other survivors, those few who won't call "friendly" and then plug you through the head as you go to give them a transfusion, and then sending them off with a fantastic start to their new lives in Day Z I prefer to use Skype as means of communication and you can add me at Rogan52 if you think this might be your thing, the more the merrier so don't be shy, alternatively you can simply PM me on here if you have any queries :) Stay safe out there folks! ~ V

Looking for UK players or simmilar time zone to group up.

Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. It sounds like we're the sort of group you're looking for! We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 1500 registered members (playing various different games) with over 300 Day Z players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!" (check it our now to see how many people are playing right now!) 212.187.246.58:9140
