    Nah, after last December, when Rocket almost threw it all away, there must have been a discussion. Guess he voiced his doubts and portrayed his new vision of the game and his boss digged it and promised him all support to schedule it for full development after ARMA3. After all, they would be stupid not to agree. This thing will be a much bigger hit than ARMA after all. Point is, I see him as a guy who puts all the pressure on himself to make this game great.

    He didn't even say what that basic/acceptance test included, how complex, how long and when it will be...seems to me like he's trying to win some time. Sounds like tons of stability problems to me.

    IMHO everyone should be forced into 1st person. The possibility of switching creates too big of imbalance and 3rd person ruins the purpose of the game.

    Nah, I think it is the best way to go, even if some of what you write will come true. I mean, imagine the alpha coming out with zagzagzeds - guess every gamesmag print and online would tear it apart even if it is ALPHA. Which is what we have to keep in mind here. Software in alpha stage is prone to be an annoying piece of code. They're making the best of it, I'm convinced they're really pushing their limits. When it finally comes out though, it will need a strong community to support them and make things special. After all, I must agree that the information blackout was a bit unfortunate. Maybe not all is happening at free will though.

    I'm so excited...that zombie update teased me even more. I feel brainfisted! :o Seriously, this is the game I always wanted to play. And I find it strange that I can't convince everyone of my friends to even get interested. Outdated graphics and the zigzaging zeds were the two major reasons...animations third. Apparently, all these things have been fixed already. Goddamn it this MUST be a brilliant game. Keep up the good work Dean Hall, guess some of the stuff on here can be demotivating, but I BELIEVE that in the end it all gonna be great! :beans: :beans: :beans: Hopefully for some time to come, cause nowadays all things creative and extraordinary quickly becomes commerce. Hold on to your heart dude! :thumbsup:

    Nope, I thought it would be out when the network bubble would be solved. Which it seems to be...all we get are little teasers that couldn't be interpreted as a anything less than convincing that a release is just around the corner.

    Hey Dev-Team, I really don't get the information blackout anymore. I mean, I could understand the motivation behind it at first, but I think it is wrong to let the community in the dark for so long. The arc of suspense has been rising to a level, where it will become hard for you to come out with anything else but good news IMHO. The only reason I could think of why an information blackout is still necessary is a certain kind of risk that could keep the game from being released any time soon - that you ran into complications you don't want to talk about, because it could be embarrasing and that you are trying to solve these issues, but can't tell if they can be solved to a satisfactory level. Speculation galore...it didn't want to get entangled, but it's really hard to turn a blind eye to the current situation and just do something else, as a release seems so imminent...I don't want to miss it.

    Think so too, but who knows? Probably the size isn't even at a fixed range and can be customized, so on a whitelisted sever and given performance allows it, it could be tweaked... Which would have been sweet though. Snipers cleaning up from far away...sounds fun. While, on the other hand it could have bad consequences...would be cool if one could experiment with it.

    Totally agree. I think DayZ is not suited for people whose preference is to be a control freak, i.e. who are playing games in order to be at least good at something. What the majority of people seem to want from a game is to be able to win by being the fastest or most experienced player. Or even thrashier like in Payday, where you can suck all you want and still win! Some will ask: Well, what can be wrong about a little success after a shitty day. But there are thousands of titles out there, which give you just that! And almost none which give you that feeling of danger and fear, because you can actually loose it all and which actually let you be inside the character. In games like this one things can and are supposed to go wrong from time to time and even IF you are creative and clever and have a good team, things should be able to go wrong, just because of the human factor. I would absolutely love to see things like stamina. Actually, there should be a whole bio-system! And not a bar that just goes down until exhaustion and one that goes up in case of a pulse meter. Of course it could be displayed like that, but there should also be other things having influence. For example one should count in adrenalin as a major factor that is having a huge effect on bodily functions and power. I think a ongoing discussion about that would be great...or had there been one before? As I said, things SHOULD go wrong from time to time just as in life...until this is not happening, the game misses part of its purpose for me. However, I do understand that things like a bio-system need to be properly balanced, otherwise too much complexity can make it less playable and fun.

    Standalone Donts

    It's supposedly just a couple of weeks until the first release of the standalone (alpha/beta/final/whatever) and giving that short timespan, I feel the urgency to put my mind at ease regarding things that would spoil the game for me. In as much as I really appreciate the way the dev team lets the community contribute with their ideas and concerns, I myself am concerned about the things that aren't said. So far we only got clues about what the standalone could be like and perhaps this thread can inspire the dev team to shed some light on their take with regards to what is going to change, compared to the alpha. IMHO there should be polls regarding critical changes. I hope the changes will mostly concern the glitchy melee interactions and overall stability and security issues. And would be great if everyone could contribute Top 5 of things you totally oppose. Here are mine: 1. In game Auction House (!!!) 2. Colourful arcade like on-screen guides and whistles (it is perfect as is imho) 3. Super Zombies (e.g. something like the mutants in Left For Dead) 4. Special skills 5. Quests The simple survival aspect is what I love most about the game and hopefully it will basically stay the way it is.

    Indeed! Actually molos should be one of the bread and butter weapons in the post-apocaplyse. Would also demand for an extra scrollwheel command to put out the fire (roll on the ground?) And they should not break on grass, just on hard surfaces. Hmmm and wondering...what noise does a burning zombie make? :o A lit-up man should definitely scream in panic (same for being seriously wounded from a bullet actually)..damn that would be creepy! Anyway, IF fire can be implemented, it should also be possible to set a room on fire...also the chance of lighting up a room with grenades would be sweet. I guess there've been several requests for this already? Too lazy to check, but I can't imagine that it's not the list of future updates.
  25. Nope, inside buildings it would be easily possible to add tons of stuff by Occlusion Culling.
