A base building mechanic is already in order for the later versions of the standalone release.

Dynamic system of bandit recognition [#2 - rewritten and refined]
colekern replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think we should stay away from systems like this. Its not a bad idea, in fact I'd say it's a pretty good one. But I'd like to see players keeping track of this. Not the game. If customization of characters gets pretty good good in standalone, then it would be up to the players to describe and remember enemies. It would be so much more... dynamic. When there's room for human error and mistakes, things could be more interesting. Imagine a case of mistaken identity! Imagine what kind of confrontation would break out! If that doesn't work however, I could definitely see room for experimentation with this. Overall, good idea, but it might not be completely alright for DayZ. -
For me, its the fear, the suspense, the nervousness you get whenever you hear another player, the terror of having to make split second decisions and then seeing how I feel after all that. For me, its the emotion and suspense.

I like the idea of not-so-rare vehicles, but extremely rare fuel.

From my standpoint, it's your fault if you get sniped nowadays. If you still haven't learned to avoid after playing for a month or so, then it's definitely your fault. Stick to the woods, stay away from big towns, and scope out areas.

I don't think it's eligible since it's only a mod.

New monitor - Mod is unplayable, have been playing since day one
colekern replied to snafu18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good? Better than good actually. Top of the line. I recently bought a OCZ vector ssd and a Gtx 680 ftw+(a very high-end graphics card) for that price. You could upgrade your current computer and get greats specs for much less than $800 dollars. Go to the Tom's hardware forum and do a quick search around the place. -
You really, really need to post those laptop or desktop specs(whatever you are getting), because we need to make sure the thing can even run DayZ.
-
Go with the 660 or the amd 7850 2gb.
-
Probably because most people don't like a giant "monkey monitor" on their screen.

Couple of moronic logic's that should be fixed.
colekern replied to DiazWaffleCrabstro's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's because Arma doesn't support shotgun reloads. If you gave the double barreled the ability to use 8 and 15 round ammo, you would have a double barreled that held 8 or 15 rounds because that's how arma works. -
Suggestion that may stop deathmatching.( Spotting for data view )
colekern replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If anything, it would just make you look like an idiot saying,"I could have killed you, but I DIDN'T!!!!!!!! FEEL BAD!!!!!!!" No one would use it, and many people would kill just for the laughs of having someone say,"I SPAAAAAAARED YOUOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!" -
Vram would help, as well as clock speeds. And also, if you could increase your budget by only $20 or $30 dollars you could get a 660 2gb with much better performance. It's totally worth it.

I've seen a few other posts like this, but all of them got flamed because the suggestion wasn't clear. So I'm gonna make it clear. Basically, I want raw input mouse movement. The current system arma uses is mouse-acceleration. If you don't know what I mean, let me explain: Most shooters use raw mouse input, which basically means reading the mouse's movement directly without smoothing it out out or changing it in any way. Arma 2 is different. Basically, it uses what's called mouse acceleration. What that means is that the faster you move your mouse, the farther it moves, regardless of har far your mouse actually traveled. Let me give an example. Let's say I'm playing counter-strike. I move my mouse to the left 2 inches. My character then looks to the left a certain distance, at the enemy. But then the enemy moves to the right. Now let's say I move my mouse inches to the right, but I move my mouse at a greater speed. My character looks back to the original position where the enemy is, regardless of how fast my mouse moved. Now let's say I'm playing Arma 2. I move my mouse 2 inches to left. My character looks to left a certain distance. Now the enemy moved to the right like last time. To counteract that, I need to look back to my original position. I move my mouse 2 inches to the right, but much faster because I need to get back on that guy fast. Unfortunately, because I moved my mouse so fast, I turn completely around, getting myself killed. I've learned to aim with mouse acceleration, but it'd still be nice to have the option of raw input. So yeah, that's my suggestion. Tell me what you think!

What's your screen resolution? What version of the 560 TI are you planning on getting? There are many versions. And, finally your processor and ram. You can get an extra 4gbs of ram for less than 20 bucks, so you might as well upgrade it. Second, I'm pretty sure your processor beats my current one, so it should be fine. One more thing. What exactly is your budget, because the Gtx 660 is almost the same price as the 560 TI, and if your willing to stretch just a bit, you can get a serious improvement with the 660 ti

That was unbelievably bad. Thank you, sir, for the laugh.
-
It's not exactly uncomfortable, just noticeable. It's not as accurate as raw-input. And yes, I've turned off smoothing, head bobbing, and gone the extra mile and tweaked my config.
-
Way to generalize everyone, buddy.
-
First off, better controls is an opinion. Not everyone prefers controllers. Second, are you serious? No hackers? That's not true. At all.
-
I'm sorry... more mature gaming community? On consoles?! Your kidding, right?
-
Colekern, because I'm Cole Kern.
-
No. I think it would be a heck of a lot better if there were no systems restricting factions or morality or stuff like that because it leaves so much more room to be dynamic and more interesting.
-
We're not going to close off a sandbox game. One of the things that's special about DayZ is that there's no morality system or anything holding you back.
-
Agreed. Also, did you change your profile pic again?
