I was looking for some mods to do a little singleplayer in Arma 2 today, and one caught my eye. It was a mod called Asr camo skin or something like that. (It's in the downloads section of Armaholic.com, under addons, under misc, and then it's on the first page.) The mod description told me that it would unlock 600 extra character face skins that were in the vanilla (unmodified) Arma 2 files. (you know, whenever you're customizing your character in the Arma 2 menu's? Yeah, those skins.) I thought that was pretty cool, so I downloaded it and installed it. It was a regular install, no .EXE's or installers, plus it was from armaholic so I wasn't worried about it being a CD key stealer. Then I went and tested it out. It worked. I went to customize my character, and now there were six variants of each face skin, each with similar, but slightly different camos. I wondered if it would work in multiplayer. I knew that most servers would kick me out for using mods that weren't being used by the server itself, so I uninstalled the camo face mod. Fortunately, because the camo skins were from regular arma 2, my face stayed camo and I didn't get into any trouble whatsoever. So now I've got myself a nice camo face. But just to be sure, is this alright? I mean, my face is camo. I'm just thinking it might give me an unfair advantage.

I never thought about that actually. But yeah, the camo skins are actually already in Arma 2, so that's why there's no script restriction.

Those fans will be great. Also, yes, get thermal paste. One more thing. It was brought to my attention that you may be able to save money in the long run by only buying one card. Frankly, I don't really think you care about that all that much, but the guys at Tom's just wanted you to know.

I'd recon you'd max out at 40 fps. In any other game, you'd max out at 60, but this is, well, an arma 2 mod.

Did run both Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and regular Arma 2? -
You can't get those fans because they, sadly, won't fit. Get 2 120mm fans. Go on Newegg and pick one out, then I'll tell you if they're good. Once that's done, you'll have two front fans, a top fan, and a rear fan for a total of four fans. But after adding in the two fans, then that's a great build and I couldn't recommend it more. Good job picking everything out!
-
I would, but I actually have no idea.

And the results are in... Fan cooling should be enough, just as long as you don't stack the 2 graphics cards on top of right on top of each other. You need to space them out a bit on your motherboard. Your case already includes a fan for the rear and top, so I'd recommend getting 2 of these for the front: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214037

Let's just see what the guys at toms say first.

I just noticed this, but that power supply will be cutting it close if you overclock. I'd recommend getting this power supply instead: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Enthusiast-Series-Bronze-TX750/dp/B004MYFODI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356306180&sr=8-2&keywords=750w+PSU It's a little more expensive, but you need to be sure that the Power supply can power 2 cards.
-
Also, I'd recommend this card instead: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2670-KR The reason? EVGA Has the best customer support in the business. That, and free borderlands 2. Make sure you order it from their website though, as that's the only way you can get Borderlands 2 for free. And it's one of the best games of the year.

I don't know yet, I'm just going to ask Tom's if fan cooling is enough.

Willing to give this game another chance

Wait for the standalone. Basically, it will be running on a similar engine to Arma 2. The difference is that the way multiplayer works is being re-done, the inventory is being re-done, the zombies are being fixed, the controls are being completely re-done, the animations are being slightly modified, pretty much every building will be enterable, bla bla bla.... All of that will come in the initial alpha release for around $15. The planned features are: *Better optimization *Underground base building. *terrain and building deformation *More weapons *Above ground base building *More items and content So yeah, there's a lot coming in standalone. Pretty much every issue you said was caused by Arma. The stuff in Arma was great for Arma, but not so great for a zombie game. Oh yeah, your original question!!! No, nothing's really been improved as of now. -
After seeing the benchmarks, I'm thinking you might wanna go with the 670's. BUT!!! Let me ask a question on Tom's hardware. I'm worried that fan cooling might not be enough. Also, do you have a monitor or HD tv? Or a speaker system?
-
Hold up, I checking some benchmarks.
-
I think you might get better performance with the 7970's. The second is what I recommend, but let me ask you something first: what makes you lean towards the 670's? P.S. If the answer is "I just want an Nvidia card", don't feel weird. I've done the same thing.

You just have the worst luck with Arma 2 that I've ever seen in my life. Have you tried joining any other servers? -
Just play on a whitelisted private hive. Then again, I've managed to find a no hack- public server.
-
First, you can't get banned because someone else was hacking. Second, have you attempted to download or install any hacks? Have you attempted to download any DayZ "optimizers" or "Fps boosters"? It could have stolen your CD key. Also, we see right through your crappy lies.

I feel stupid now. Ok, create the shortcut, then put-mod=C:\games\ArmA 2;EXPANSION;ca See if that works -

If you like mil sims, get Arma. If not, wait for standalone. Also, mind posting your computer specs?
