Find good private hive from here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/92982-community-private-hive-server-listing/ and try some of the new maps. It will be a hacker-free, fresh DayZ experience. -
Great story. I remember my first kill. Mine was like yours: it didn't count, except zombies killed him. The reason I wasn't able to kill him? I wasted to mags on him with an AKM and hit him twice because I was so nervous.

Constant admin protection mainly. Aka, no hackers. Also, if you found a vehicle on a public hive you'd have to stay on the same server. Private hives also have custom settings and areas. Many servers have completely new towns, and some even have trading posts. Many have custom loot tables, meaning new guns. There's one private I know of that has over 1,400 vehicles on it at all times! (here's the server ip if you wanna play on it: 198.136.25.138:2372). -

Well, then it's just the server. Find a good private hive, preferably from here: http://dayzmod.com/f...server-listing/ that runs good and you'll be set. It just happens with some servers and there's not many ways to avoid other than switching servers. -
I'd rather see this stuff be driven by players. I think we should stay away from computer controlled systems as much as possible.

Also, the thing that fixed it for me was logging out while looking directly at the source of the artifacts, then logging back in.

I don't really like the suggestion. My reasoning? Well, DayZ is, essentially, your story. You are the character. You, and your career, your family, your ambitions, and everything about you fill in the story. Also, there is going to be a storyline in the sense that the game will tell you how the infection spreads, what it does, etc. In fact, the creator of the game had his brother, a virologist, help him create the games disease.

I've never used the editor before, but if you've got the time, why not try looking some guides up online? I taught myself to use hammer editor for the source engine, and trust me, hammer is a little more complex than adding in a few pre-made buildings. You could do it! -
First off rant then a few suggestions that I think would just make the game feel more survivalish.

Try running it in compatibility mode. Check in DayZcommanders properties.

Shooting Players and Him/Her Dying From Blood Loss?

It all started whenever I was first starting to play the game. I'd been playing for... a week? Anyways, I'd just made it to the Bolota airfield's military base and picked up my first full-auto weapon. My next stop: the hangars. When I got there, there was a bandit in prone, rifle raised, looking directly at me. I backed up, yelling "FRIENDLY, FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!" into the mic. I ran to the air traffic control tower and tried find some loot. From the tower, I saw the bandit leave. I went to the hangars. Turns out the bandit hadn't left and was hanging out behind a wall about one-hundred meters away. We then both started peeking around the corner at each other (this went on for a minute or so). We were both new. We were both extremely terrified. Al of the sudden, an unarmed player in a zombie skin runs up to me, and does nothing but stare at me. All of the sudden, he drops in quite possibly the most exaggerated death animation arma has. The bandit had mistaken him for a zombie. Then things get more interesting. A new, unarmed player comes sprinting down the runway with quite possibly the biggest zombie train I've ever seen. I was going for my Hero skin. I sighed, then charged out after him to save him. All of the sudden, something flies past my face (it was either a bullet or graphical artifact, as it was version 1.7.3). I look, and the only thing I see is... BANDIT. I light him up. Well.. sorta. I end up spending to mags. and hitting him maybe, I don't know, twice, because I was so scared my hands were shaking and I didn't know how to zero my gun. Nevertheless, the bandit goes unconscious. Even though I was going for a Hero skin, I couldn't but let out, "That was awesome!" as I ran off. The zombies finished the guy off. I turn around, only to see the zombie skin guy looting the bandit. Huh, apparently he had survived. Anyways, long story short, I ended up finding another bambi while me and the other survivor were trying escape that zombie train. Eventually we got separated and I died trying to fight my way back to them. (Remember me? I was the guy who tried to impress you with my heroics on the recruitment thread!!!) I realize now that, if that thing that flew that flew past me was a bullet, the bandit was shooting the zombies, 'cause no ones aim is that bad when they have the upper hand. Anyways, you probably found this semi-hilarious because you weren't there. Looking back, it was hilarious for me because of how scared I was. -

Also, did you play both arma 2 and operation arrowhead before launching DayZ?

If he gets killed by zombies, based on my experience (it was hilarious story), no it doesn't count as your kill. If he bleeds out, however, then yeah, it counts as your kill. -
Turn Vsync, then do this tweak: Go into documents, Arma 2. Click on arma2.cfg and Arma2oa.cfg and open them with notepad. find GPU_maxframesahead= and GPUdetectedframesahead= both configs. Change the numbers after the = to 1.

DayZ is adding a zombie lifecycle. Not a lot of details have been released, but it's commonly thought that it will makenew zombies are fast and weak and old zombies slow and strong. -

What video card do you have? Look under that same directxdiag tool, but look in the display section. You need to update your drivers. Anyways, I need some sleep for Christmas, so tech support is down until later tommorow. Sorry bro.
