  1. GUYS- I'M TALKING ABOUT INJURIES. PLEASE DO NOT POST SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH AN IN-GAME INJURY. Alright guys, what is the most ridiculous and unrealistic injury you've ever survived in DayZ? If you write a story, keep it (somewhat) short. I don't want to hear about your 40 day character's life story. Here's mine: I had just joined a random private hive. Apparently, it was a custom server. I started with a golden revolver and a mag for it, and an axe. I immediately went to the nearest town and started looting. There were a few bodies, but they had nothing useful except for a bandage. That was about the time I started hearing footsteps. Not the slow steps that a zombie makes, but fast, like a human. I hid in building. It was definitely footsteps, just a little to the east. I figured I'd go out and find whoever was causing it. As walked out, I maintained constant awareness in all directions. That's when I saw it: he was behind me. I tried to get to cover, but he had already come around the corner. I was exposed. I tried to use voice chat and tell him to drop his gun, but I had forgotten to bind my voice chat key to T after I created a new profile in Arma 2. So now I was just pointing my gun at the guy. He fired. He fired and hit me three times before I hit him once. But I was smart. I got a headshot and he went down. I bandaged. He shot me one time when he got back up, then I got a body shot and a headshot. He went down, then I spent the rest of my mag ending him. I bandaged and equipped my axe to kill the zombies the gunfight had aggroed. Suddenly, his buddy came around the corner. He hit me once or twice (I can't remember which one), and I ran to the docks and locked myself in a building. I heard him outside, trying to avoid zombies. Finally, I charged. He ran. He hit me once, but I hit him with my axe multiple times. He kept running. Now I went full on madman (I literally yelled "come back here!!!!" over the mic). He was weak. Out of ammo. I was going to finish him. He pulled out his axe and hit me once before he died. That caused me to bleed, and I only had about one thousand or two thousand blood left. Then the game glitched, and automatically hid his body. My only chance was to make it back to the other guy and get his bandage. The zombies were to busy beating the unconscious guy to death, so I made it to the body and bandaged. Success. So yeah, five to six revolver shots and a hatchet hit. I'm tough.

    DayZ Standalone for Mac

    Bootcamp.
  3. Okay, let me rephrase. If you could turn your head in First-person and see that person or object without having to tilt around a corner, it wouldn't be hidden in third-person, This was designed purely to keep people from peeking around things without exposing themselves.

    Weapon damage general discussion.

Hey guys, I'm changing this thread to "damage general discussion" since that's what it is now.

    New Food and Drinks Names

Dude. It's a joke. It's not a big deal, or immersion breaking.
  7. OK, let me get this straight: Vehicles and Utes aren't a for sure in the initial release? Man, if they don't put an explanation up when they release, I could see some serious PR problems arise.
  8. Hey guys. I know there is a similar suggestion out there, but it was very old this idea is slightly different. Anyways, I suggest that we allow to equip, and throw, well... everything. An out of the way key (p, for example, so we don't accidentally throw our gun.) would be bound to throwing and dropping. If you just press the key, you drop the item. If you hold it, you throw it. It might present some developement challenges, but it would be a cool and useful feature. Here the thread I got the idea from: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/125310-throwing-hatchets/
  9. Like the title says. I personally think that real reload animations would be very important to add polish to the game. As well as bolt action and pump action animations. In pretty much every FPS today, its pretty much expected that reload animations will be a basic part of the game. Making these feel smooth, clean, and satisfying is one of the most important things to do if you want make the gunplay feel smooth and polished. And yes, I understand the significant challenge of making reload animations with the way the Arma engine works. But they've already made a clothing system, and managed to make the clothes move in sync with the character animations, so a I personally think they could do this. What do you think?

Make the shelcasings stay until restart.

Its not really the size of the object that could cause the server to crash, it's the sheer amount of items that stress the server. Not only that, but adding in a couple hundred small objects can seriously affect framerates for players.

Please don't put defecating in the standalone

I see what you mean, but there are other ways to simulate pooping without actually, well, pooping. Why not just make a timer for players, and once it runs out, it slightly increases the amount of disease where the player is at?I think it should be something that happens in the background. Players shouldn't actually have to involve themselves in the process.

Please don't put defecating in the standalone

Honestly, I think it's a terrible idea. It could easily be replaced. Why just increase the amount disease in an area when a player goes near it or in it?

    Throwable... everything.

Man, I'm sorry. I forgot. Edited.

    Progression System in DayZ Standalone

Add more stuff that encourages player interaction. Base building, the ability to clear out owns, new endgame content... Etc. Etc.Also, I've had plenty of player interactions that didn't involve Pvp I. The last month or so.

Make the shelcasings stay until restart.

How do we know? There's already examples. Go into Arma and spawn fifty vehicles. Compare the FPS between that and no vehicles. There's a difference. Now imagine all of that spawing in within two minutes. Not only does it stress the server with physics calculatiosn, but it's also a lot of objects being spawned at once and that in itself is a lot for the server to deal with.A good firefight can put 300+ shell casings on the ground within two minutes. That could easily crash the server.

    Throwable... everything.

Yeah, no magic knife or hatchet throwing skills.

    Throwing Hatchets

I think I'm gonna post this as a suggestion.
  18. I say yes, but make fuel VERY rare.

    Weapon Customisation

I personally hope its really in-depth. I hope that, not only could put new optics and similar items on it, but that you could also replace the barrel and stock. Imagine being able to put a folding stock on your gun to make it take up less space or be more accurate.

I can't quite explain DayZ to my friend.

He has to play it and meet a player to understand.
  21. It would be able to. Textures, most of the time, only effect the FPS by 1-2 frames, unless you have very little V-ram.

Make the shelcasings stay until restart.

I hope you're willing to wait 4 years for technology to catch up, because no amount of optimization will really help with this.
