  1. I've been playing on Balota Buddies lately, but sometimes my ping goes a little over 300. In the rules, it says that you can't have over 300 when you get whitelisted, but sometimes I just can't help it and goes to like, 350-400. Is it okay to play then?
  2. Nope. I just have terrible internet. A company just got hired to lay down some cable for high-speed internet in my area, but that'll take around 5 months. Also, the US server only kicks for like, 1000 ping.
  3. This would just help. Also, if you don't like the idea, just tell me. I promise not to cry.
  4. The load screen would give them a basic idea of the controls if they look at it; the hint system would take care of the rest. But I see what you're saying. Sort of. It would be really complicated, but many things in DayZ are already complicated. It doesn't mean we shouldn't implement. It wouldn't affect your experience. It would just make a newbie's experience less frustrating.
  5. Learning the over-complicated controls should never be the brutal part of a game. Getting killed because you can't figure out how to vault or use voice chat isn't brutal; it's cheap. Don't get me wrong, I see your point. DayZ has always been a brutal game, but the over-complicated controls shouldn't make it brutal.
  6. It's more designed for complete PC game noobs, which are players DayZ tends to attract.
  7. How exactly am I complaining? A simple fix is to give the player the ability to disable it. Simple. I just honestly don't see why we wouldn't do this.
  8. For everyone I know, not knowing how to control your character was not the fun part.

    Will SA be modder friendly?

At first, no. Allowing mods could compromise security. Once they get the game locked down, mod ability will open up.
  10. You're the second guy to not read the post. They only appear the first few times you start the game.
  11. Why wouldn't we make it easier for newcomers to learn to control their characters? Having to learn ridiculously complicated controls all on your own just to play the actual game is unnecessary. If we can remove this frustration without taking the challenge away from the actual game itself, it would make the game more fun for new players. So why wouldn't we?

    DayZ Screenshots!

    Thanks.

    DayZ Screenshots!

    Yeah, I disabled pre-rendered frames.

    DayZ Screenshots!

My gosh. I've got an I5-3570k and the 680 yet I still don't have everything maxed out. Heck, I have some settings disabled completely.

    DayZ Screenshots!

    I'm jealous. I've got a GTX 680 FTW OC'ed and still can't max out. What's your CPU?
  16. Of course you could disable them! I am, personally, a big fan of custom pretty loading screens, so they owuld need to be able to be disabled. Also, did you read the post? They only show the first few times you start up DayZ

    Despair, and full! :(

DO NOT turn any settings on low. Your CPU is the bottleneck, so try cranking some settings up a bit. Also, go into Documents>arma 2 and open Arma2.cfg and Arma2OA.cfg with notepad. Then find Gpu_maxframesahead and GPU_detectedframesahead and change the numbers after those to 1 in both files, then turn off smoothing. Also, turn off post processing.

    New CD key, still banned

First run steam as admin. If that doesn't work, you may have to delete your old CD key. Google how to do it, I'm not completely sure how.
  19. In real life, you also don't have to learn how to walk by the time you're a full grown adult. You would have the ability to disable these hints, too. And you have to remember that the only thing this would be there for is removing the frustration of learning new, advanced controls. Think about it: there's no actual reason learning controls should be hard. It's not a gameplay mechanic, it doesn't make the game for fun, it's just something that you have to do. Removing the need for trial and error is a good thing.

    Hopes for a darker future

Maybe, but I think infections would kill them off very quickly if that were the case. It would be a very short zombie apocalypse.
  21. When's the last time you played on the server? They took the extra barracks out when they added the newest patch.

    Hopes for a darker future

But, again, the zombies in DayZ aren't actually zombies, just infected people. So it wouldn't make sense for their bodies to deteriorate.

    Machete

How do they consider that an advertisement? It makes them look idiotic.
