    Dayz problem

Open DayZ commander and check the settings tab at the top right corner. You should see this: See the game directories tab? You need to change those folder locations to the ones you use. Then, you need to go to the install/update tab. You should see something similar to this: Click the install buttons on Arma 2 and DayZ. Launch the game through DayZcommander.

How do you take a screen shot?

Steam or Fraps. I'd go with fraps, as it's easier to use dayZ commander with it.

For the admins, maybe. But I seriously think we should wait and see how the new engine holds up against hackers first before we add in anything that could be exploited.

    Need Help with new rig

There are plenty of guides out there. Honestly if it were up to me, I'd go with an I5 if you're mainly wanting to play games. Sometimes, I7s can slow down games. I'd go with the I5 3570k and buy a nice little GTX 670 with the cash you save. I'd recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Dual-Link-DisplayPort-Graphics-02G-P4-2678-KR/dp/B0083Y6MV6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363840578&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+670 It comes overclocked out of the factory so that there's no chance you could accidently screw it up.

I'm not sure the processor is actually overclockable. If it was, it would have a K after it. http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-3770K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B007SZ0EOW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363839095&sr=1-1&keywords=i7+3770k Buy this instead, and buy a watercooling kit for it, otherwise you'll barely be able to overclock the thing. They cost around $50.You'll be able to get the thing running at around 4.5 GHZ fairly easily.

    Server control kicked

For the standalone, it can be fixed, but for the mod, it''s impossible to fix. It's an Arma problem. It's really not a simple problem, at least for the mod. Giving you access to server control would be like giving you the ability to see where everyone is at all times or change the time in-game or other admin-y stuff.

hackers. solution pay to play servers.

Yes, but it also means that means it's extremely easy to set up a scam. If any server owner wants to make a quick buck, he can make people pay, then shut down the server and move the cash to a safe place. Also, maybe videogames, at least online ones, aren't for you. If you seriously think gaming should die because there are some hackers. then you probably shouldn't be gaming in the first place. Also, how do you explain games that rarely ever get hacked? Take WOW for instance. It rarely has any hackers aside from farming bots, which would be useless in other games. DayZ standalone will be using the exact same architecture as wow, which means that hacking will be on similar levels to WOW. There's no perfect solution to hacking. It will always be a constant fight, and it will be everywhere. Consoles, PC's, phones, tablets; you name it, it will probably get hacked one way or another.

    NPC Survivors

The search function is pretty finicky. There's a little gear icon on it, which is advanced search. Use that to narrow the search to titles in the suggestion forum. Also, if the advanced search isn't functioning correctly, report to the forum mods. There may be a technical problem. Also, don't take the stuff that happened here personally. Stuff similar to this gets suggested very often, so the communities' brain practically melts when they see this stuff.
  11. Script kiddies. Battleye actually tells you in game via global chat to ignore those messages. Don't worry, you're safe.

Please do a little bit of research before you post something as useless as this. If you had taken about ten minutes and read the devblogs on DayZ standalone, you would have known that the reason for the hacking is the engine, which is something that can't be changed by a mod. In the standalone, a custom engine is being made to prevent hacking. Also, if you had researched this, you would have known that the topic about hacking has been posted about three thousand times. Go here: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ for more info. Yeah, no. That's just major overreacting.

How to make death actually matter more

I don't think a timer is the right way to do it.
  14. I carry three canteens and an axe and chop up wood and boil it whenever I need some water. I learned the hard way that it is in fact possible to get infection from water.
  15. Lol, you misunderstood. I don't really consider anyone who shoots for the lulz a bandit.

    add money to the game

I don't see why we wouldn't add it as long as it's treated just like another object. It would just be something completely useless.
  17. There was a lot of talk about DayZ standalone having some sort of tutorials that would teach new players how avoid zombies, or how to use weapons and vehicles, or move around. Most everyone was against it, and I am too. But I do think that this leaves a problem . How the heck do they learn the controls? Most people would just say, "why don't they just look at the options screen?". My thoughts are this: In every other modern game, this is not necessary. An argument could be made that DayZ is not like every other game (it isn't) and this would affecT the experience, but IT doesn't do that. Everything is still there: the authenticity the intensity, the oh-my-gosh-what-heck-am-I-doing. it's all still there. However, there will be no cheap deaths because you didn't know how to roll or jump. This would just make it so that you won't constantly have to check the options menu as a new player to figure out how to move or aim down the sights because you forgot how to do that. It would just simply help you have a more fun, more streamlined, and less frustrating experience in DayZ. There are two things that I think should be implemented: 1. "Educational" loading screens. The first is that we show the basic controls on the loading screen the first few times you start DayZ. No More Room in Hell, an awesome Half-Life 2 mod that you should all download right now, illustrates this perfectly: So, if we applied this to DayZ, we would have something like this: Oooookaaaay.... that was little more cluttered than I had planned. Notice that I streamlined the controls a bit since the SA is doing this. A better layout would be needed to avoid the clutter, but the concept is there. It just needs to be done by someone with actual photoshopping skills. That took me two hours. It's quite sad. Note: this would have the ability to be disabled via the options menu. 2. A hint system. The second thing I suggest we do is add in a hint system similar to Left 4 Dead. The hint system would show the just the controls and nothing more. hints would be activated depending on the players actions. For example, if he finds an item, it would tell him how to interact with it. If he's near a town, it would tell him how to change stances so he could sneak. If he opens his map, it would tell him how to place a marker. Hints would only appear one or two times, or if the player disables them. Hint's would only show controls. Nothing more (I can't stress this enough). Not how to navigate a town, or avoid zombies, or how to sneak. Here's an example screenshot to show you what I mean: You're probably wondering why I want this stuff implemented. The main reason is to make a new player's experience less frustrating, confusing, and clunky because of controls. I want to make it easy to get into the game quickly without ever having to look at the options menu for the controls, while still keeping you in the dark about how to avoid threats, or repair vehicles, or use the craft items. My second reason is that one of DayZ's major criticisms as a mod right now is that it's very hard to play as newbie, not because of the zombies, or the players, or the hunger and thirst, but because new players don't really know how to control their characters and the inventory system. Even players that do look at Arma 2's controls have a tough time with the game because there are certain features in DayZ that aren't covered by Arma's control menu or are just really obscure. So tell me what you think below! If you don't think it should be implemented, give me an explanation, don't just say something dumb and obscure like, "I just don't like it", or "yure a frackin retad yu hae know idia whut day z is abot".

    I've been wondering.... Why Chernarus?

Because it was the Arma map that best suited DayZ's gameplay.
  19. Actually, they've already added many features from Arma 3, such as the lighting. The lighting is the thing that makes Arma 3 look so incredible.
  20. DayZ mod on Arma 3 will have all of the problems the current mod has. There will be the same amount of hackers because they use the same architecture, and the same amount of bugs because there would be no access to the engine. That's why DayZ standalone is being created. They can build a custom engine that prevents hacking, which they have done, they fix the bugs, make a new disease system, new AI, and new inventory that allows many more features.
  21. WINDOWS PHONE!!!! I'M CRYING MY FACE OFF. Meh, I should probably just get an android.
