DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever
colekern replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
To me, it sounds like they're keeping the old system of only having one skeleton, but are designing the new skeleton to feel better in both third and first person. -
I'd love that. It has been suggested, but it was disguised as a mega suggestion thread.

The Magazine combining is going to be amazing.

My Zombie Apocalypse Dream Gear
colekern replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh yeah, forgot about this. Real-life current loadout: Primary: Remington 870 Synthetic with an extended magazine. 2nd Primary: Either a 7mm rifle or a 243. Sidearm: One of these: Kimber 1911 Springfiled XDM 9mm Sig-Sauer P229 Melee: Machete. -
My Zombie Apocalypse Dream Gear
colekern replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In real life, the M4A1 is more accurate at both medium-range and long-range. And it does have a buttstock. The Kalashnikov is much more reliable, and has a larger, more powerful round, so it's kind of balanced out. Stanag mags are more common in America than AK mags, and that's why I chose the M4. -
My Zombie Apocalypse Dream Gear

Pretty much anything that has picatinny rails and uses Stanag mags (oh, that also doesn't weigh more than ten pounds). Preferably an M4. They're reliable, accurate, and lightweight, and accessories for it are very common in America. -

The new inventory is using this actually.

DayZ StandAlone Wallpaper 1920x1080

Nice, but you need to add credits for P.Y.T. Who created the original artwork. Also, cutting back on the moons opacity would be good. -
Alienware x51 Can It Run DayZ?
colekern replied to exomonkeyman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It'll barely run it on at 30fps if you set everything to low. Make sure you tell him just how ripped off he is. -
The Road to DayZ (part 1): An Interview with a Gun Smuggler

Nice, but the zombies in DayZ are infected people, not the living dead. -
(BattlEye: Global Ban #555d0c) I got this message when i tried to play DayZ, i have never hacked/cheated.
colekern replied to Rake006's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If you are innocent, you need to send a message (or multiple messages) to Battleye. We don't control Global Bans, as we're just a forum. Here's where you can find info about Battleye: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/10011-do-not-post-your-global-ban-appeals/ -
I like the idea of random starting gear, but it's very exploitable.

Honestly, I haven't seen a lot of issues in the alpha. I've been playing it, and they've already fixed many crashing issues and othern bugs. -

The reason they never finished the mod is because the standalone is kind the way they're finishing the mod. As for the pricing model, I don't see a problem with it. It worked great for minecraft. Heck, you can't even pre-order DayZ. That way, when you buy it, you have no excuse to not know what exactly you were buying. As for Bohemia not deserving the benefit of the doubt, you make a point there. Most of their games are horribly buggy and broken. But they did a great job with Arma 3, and releasing it as an alpha will really help with bugfixing. -
Search for in your country. For example, I live in America, so I would search for US in DayZ commander.

Gummy, those are the Arma 3 animations, not the the new DayZ animations. That interview is from PAX. They haven't even begun work on the player animations yet, according to this devblog. "and then onto player animations for the new skeleton, custom designed to feel more like a civilian rather than the trained soldier of ArmA2." -From the latest devblog. Also, about the kickstarter thing... show me your source on this. I read something about this a while back, but I think he was talking about purchase options (a collectors edition, for example). -

You misunderstood. You could set the radio on the ground, and listen for footsteps. -

The radio could be used to set traps. You can set them on the ground and use them to listen for other players. -
I like it.

Remove Starter Flashlight; Bring Back Flares
colekern replied to Powell (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not just not smart. The gamma slider is for people with weird monitors. Just because you don't have to use it doesn't mean others don't. It's a necessary evil.
