    Hackers galore this weekend?

Happened to me today , only 6 people on the server at the time I only wish I had hit PrntScr. :/ I pray they get on top of this super fast cos Cheats were the primary reason I stopped playing the mod, I really hope that I do not have to stop playing the SA as well :(
  2. Talking about the Inventory system and the fact that items take up varied number of slots based on shape and apparent size, although some items are just so stupid with how much space they take. I was wondering why the Dev's felt that Arma's Item Tetris was better than a single item per slot method, there must be some reason behind the madness, I would like to think that Dayz is not lumbered with it just because it's what the default is for the engine, changing items to only take up a single slot would be such an easy change as well, I would love the dev's to trial it on the Exp servers to see what players actually think of it terms of actual gameplay.
  3. It simply has to be the Three Year old Syndrome.. Guy in field get's shot at, panics and goes prone "If I cant see shit past this grass that guy cant see me ....... BANG,DEAD"

    How 'persistent' will persistence be?

How would that effect a backpack that a player has hidden with loot inside, is the loot inside fine but the backpack suffer from lifetime decline ? If that's the case I think this lifetime value should be reset every time a player interacts with it, that way people actively using say a backpack stashed in the woods will keep the backpack alive, but once its lost it will eventually degrade away.

    Loot Re-Spawn Info?

Does anyone have any info on how the loot respawning works ?, like how often does the server spawn new loot, will it spawn loot if something is there still, will it spawn loot if the players is in the roof any details would be nice. been playing the EXP and Stable and cant seem to get loot to respawn.
  6. Clearly tents will be persistent, and I know some loot will be as well persisting through restarts which is very cool. I'm wondering about tent's and backpacks that a player place on the ground, I think I might have gotten this wrong but I watched a video a few days back and the tuber was talking about tents, and how you walk inside them right into the tent to open it's inventory, which I think is amazing :), he went on to say that any backpacks placed or dropped on the ground inside the tent will gain persistence and will act like additional storage for the tent ? Can anyone clarify this for me, I have been trying to find a tent to test but as of yet have been unable, even looked on the EXP and found one only to have the server crash moments later wiping my character before I could get a chance to try it. Just need some specifics on how this will work, with the bags on the ground in or out of tents etc..

    quick question on bags/tents/persist

So using a Backpack as a hide for items probably isnt good then as it will degrade and get deleted? we still cant repair bags can we?

    quick question on bags/tents/persist

their vague tho that's the problem as I recall they just say persistent they don't really detail it.

    quick question on bags/tents/persist

No character reset yet that comes with the next patch.. So all bags anywhere remain ? so they do not need to be inside the tent doorway ? Oh what about fireplaces do they remain? that will be cool if they do.

    SOLVE Prone in Grass Please..

I think this is probably a situation every single player has experienced at some point and have simple taken to accepting it without calling it into question, which is a shame because the reality of it and the irony of it deserves further attention. I am talking about the issue with Render Distance on Grass and the fact that a sniper or player who's prone in grass but just beyond the games grass draw distance looks like this. When in fact they should look like this Not only does the grass draw distance make something so logical fail but it actually turns it a complete 180 because what actually happens is that normally some one prone in grass can and often does find that they cant see 5 feet in front of them, meanwhile the guy 100 meter's away is looking at you prone and thinking "HAHAHA Idiot", even tho in reality it makes perfect sense for the guy who's prone in grass to be almost impossible to see even without a ghilile suit. So I have a suggestion how to fix this and it's fairly simple, why not give players who are prone in grass a scroll option called "HIDE" when they do this the game puts a small bush in front of them, something the player who's hiding can see through but that hides them from the player just a few hundred meters away, this has to be better than just looking at some guy laying down in a field and its something a real person would do, snap a branch off a nearby bush and hide behind it.

    Better Maps.

First of all, no one in their right mind would open up a map cover it over their full face making them blind when there could be a zombie nearby or a player looking to shoot them, the map needs to not be full screen. Secondly given that DayZDB now has functionality to tell distances, I think it makes sense to implement that into the map in the same way, click two points and read the distance between them , unlike how it used to be in the mod which was a little OP. I would also love it if all Map Data(Markers) were stored locally and saved beyond death, yes we die, yes were "SUPPOSED" to be new characters but we all know were not, were not going to wipe from memory where our old tents, camps, stashed loot or best hunting spots or water ponds or streams are, so having a player's map remain beyond death seems logical and as a gameplay mechanic not something that's over powered at all, Personally I would love to Mark the locations I spot Stag's and other animals, where I spot Streams or other still water which is not always visible on the map proper, I would also of course love to Mark where I stash some tents, or bags which I am sure others would love to do as well.

    September Rant Topic.

My Biggest complain about the game is the controls, why does our player motion have to be bound to an animation, look at how fluid all these other games are NONE of them have player motion bound to the players ability to move. How many times have you got to walk up a narrow set of stairs like the little hunters huts in the woods only to end up side stepping left and right like a total retard because your character steps to far in either direction. UNBIND us. Gameplay would not be hurt in anyway what so ever if the animations were an approximation of the players movement, if I move to the side a little animate that, sure, if I climb a ladder or jump animate it all of course but don't physically move me based on the animation it's so stupid it boggles the mind and its the fundimental reason for almost every single complaint about the controls, and the reason people say the game feels clunky. I know its a simulation but simulate everything else and leave player movement out of it so that players can move through buildings, up stairs and along narrow paths without feeling like some retarded robot.

    Sleeping pad & Dreamland

I like the idea of needing sleep and I like the idea of that also possibly having an effect in game, they could do the Minecraft thing and if everyone on the server goes to sleep during night time then it changes to daytime and everyone gets their rested bonus. IN terms of dream land how about making it a mini game, your in a dream your stuck in a tower say one of those cherno flat's buildings thats in the middle of no where(debug?) just a tower all alone and all around you is bucket loads of zombies all coming into the tower just to kill you, fortunately your room has tons of guns and ammo, the goal simply being to defeat as many waves of zombies as possible, as your real life character is idle asleep in some forest some where your dream character is shooting endless streams of zombies with his pick of the games guns, would also give players the chance to practice with the games guns without being in the open world, if the zombies kill your dream guy you wake it with a yell/scream possibly alerting any nearby players, or if you wake yourself (scroll mouse?) then you wake normally. The longer you sleep, the longer your survive in your own personal little nightmare the longer your rested bonus would last.

Transportation Suggestion(not a car or bike!)

I would rather see a full train that loops around the whole maps rail tracks stopping at stations, so many trains around the world are fully automated these days drives are just there in case something goes wrong.. So what would be really cool, would be if the train was like a car and had components, parts that over time degrade without the driver alive, a server of players could band together fix the train and start it on its way, it would then run for say 24/48 hours before breaking down again and needing more repairs, it would be something server clans would work on maintaining and something normal players could take advantage of.

    New Forrest ?

I love all of the new towns the maps really looking fleshed out now which is brilliant.. However, some of us love to go out and get lost in the now gone big forests where we could just go camp and survive off the land, I think you should surround the whole outside of the map with a new forest that would cover the whole north and west sides of the map, I think the west side at the south should all be deciduous tree's and as you get more north more and more pine should creep in until the whole north forest would be all pine, dot some small ponds around this new forest zone and pump it with the appropriate Deer, Pigs, Bears and Cats, Wolves and you will make a lot of survivalists really happy..

    Hunting ideas and discussion

on the subject of Deer, I think they need to flee all players who are walking/standing/running within 100 meters, a real life Deer is gone normally before a human even see's it in real life but last time I checked I could walk upto Deer and Pigs's easily, they need to be very very shy and dash off at the first sign of players. Hunter Deer should be something thats done down the barrel of a rifle, not something thats done with a pistol or axe thats just crazy, a cow or sheep sure their both domesticated but boars, deer they should bolt if a player is ever remotely close.. I think.. Standing Tall <= 400 Meters Deer will Bolt Crouched <=300 Meters Deer will bolt Prone <=200 Meters Deer will bolt. Gunshots would bolt the animal if Rifle <=350 Bolts the Deer AK <=250 Bolts the Deer Pistol Bolts the Deer. With those ranges players will have the option to take the risk of missing and get close but with the risk of a miss bolting the deer, while other players might play it safe and stay out of audible range so but at a greater distance making their shot harder but giving them more chance to get a kill, it will be a nice trade off.
  17. I am wondering how long it will be before we can really put down some roots, I know that in the next patch or on the exp server they are playing with hunting which is brilliant, but some of us need a place to call home. Something I really need personally to keep me playing, at the moment my game time consists of just wandering around until I see some one, shoot at them, die or live and then repeat, its boring when I know It could be so much better. In the mod our clan built bases, camps, houses, and defended them against big assaults, and we often went out looking to assault other players bases it created a lot of really cool clan v clan and group play something that's really missing from the Standalone at the moment. I recently took a look at Landmark and was thinking that its plot claiming would work really well in dayZ, imagine a Camp Fire was the first step in actually claiming a little bit of the world for yourself to build in, building one would prevent any additional players building any other campfires within X radius, at this point its just a fire treat it as you would normally. However what if we then got an upgrade option on the fire itself, if we have a tent or canvas and sticks or something along those lines then we can upgrade the camp fire to a camp, a ten would then spawn a few feet from the fire in a set position (and not inside a solid object) you know like how you might do it in real life, now you have a fire for heat and food, and you have a tent for storage and keeping out the rain, this upgrade would then increase the radius around the fire increasing the amount of space you have as your own personal land, using this same upgrade mechanic you could upgrade the tent once or twice to increase its space, but ultimately with a bit of additional crafting you could upgrade your tent to a small 1 window, 1 door log cabin, in which you would have a log stove for heat and cooking, some storage things like trunks or drawers, and a door which you can lock with a 3 digit code, this lock could also be up-gradable to 4 ,5 and 6 digit locks to increase your security. With all of this small log cabin and lets say for example 10 meter radius around it, that's only 10 meter square of land the place is HUGE hundreds of players could cabin up in the woods and there would still be bags of room to roam around an empty forest. Finally durability on a camp, if a player does not login and interact with their camp within say 10 days it drops a durability point, 30 days of neglect and a log cabin turns to ruin and downgrades to a tent, 15 days later the tent downgrades to a fire, and 24 hours later the fire is removed from the world. Having a cabin would be amazing, clans could have a group near each other in the woods and would then work to protect that area from any attackers, if done correctly it those who like survival could go off into the wilds build a cabin and just survive avoiding players. those who seek group pvp could build theirs further south in groups and form clans to attack other nearby players and their camps. I mention Shack in the title I realize I may not have outlined it above but just slot it into the appropriate upgrade location between a tent and the full cabin. anyway just a thought.
  18. I almost always carry two guns, one over my shoulder and one in my hands, one for range and one for close quarters, I like to be ready for anything, the annoying thing is that with this I cant climb ladders, cant do anything without having to drop my gun on the ground first which is so stupid. Humans can throw way more than one gun over the same shoulder so its not really realistic to say yeah drop it on the ground, we can also carry a rifle with one hand and use the other hand for something else like holding a flashlight or whatever. Some one mentioned that soon we will be able to hotswitch between a gun over shoulder and one in hand without dropping it on the floor, but what about between 1 in hand with a pistol, in that situation with the shoulder being used the game would drop the gun. So Add this bag, or better yet let us put rifles in bags like we used to in the mod.

    Vehicle Discussion

A YEAR.. are you fkn kidding me ? If that's the case then Dead you need to get something in ASAP as a place holder so people can travel around faster while you work on the proper implementation, god having no vehicles of any type is one of the major things its missing at the moment.

after death run back to storage ?

If they remove player base camps on death I'm gone, its the one thing that gives a feeling of progression in the game beyond that current life, and the stuff around the world shows how players impact that world if you take that away your breaking a massive part of the game. I think the best solution to this would be ownership of camps, assume I have two tents and a campfire or some other bits, if my player dies then ownership of that camp would start to degrade over say 1 hour, during this 1 hour my new spawned character still owns the camp and if I make it back in time and interact with each object then I re-claim ownership of it, IF ... However my new player does not make it back to the camp within the hour then ownership of the tent's and stuff drops to abandoned, in this state ANY PLAYER who finds them can claim them and become their new owner, or just loot them and move on leaving them abandoned. Things in the abandoned state would degrade over time eventually going to ruin and being removed from the server. 1 hour sounds long but its not , and its just long enough to allow players to put their camps way north west and still be able to make it back, this would or could promote people to find camps, kill the owner and then hold the ground for the hour so they can claim it for themselves, this could create some really cool group PVP.

    Fire -> Camp -> Shack -> Log Cabbin ?

I think barricading a house cannot be counted as a player base, at least not something of value there is nothing stopping a player simply server hopping to get past your door or your boarded up wall or what ever, will this stop zombies, probably but then have zombies EVER been that much of a threat that you would actually go through all the steps required and time required to board up a house? specially one that cant keep other players out. As for the linear nature of the upgrades will instill a sense of progression, if it's all open then there would be nothing stopping a player just building the final building which I think would be a massively bad idea, having it linear in progression not only means that the player gets that sense of accomplishment when their done but the time investment and work required means the player would be less willing to simply abandon it on the first sign of trouble, "Oh no a player found us, quick run away and build a new cabbin"?? no thanks. I grant you that being able to place the next upgrade in the landscape within your build radius would be nice tho, I simply didn't think of it as being essential, but I guess it might very well be more important if you want to ensure your cabbin door and windows face a specific direction, so yeah that would be nice now that I think about it, but keeping the linear upgrading just allowing the player to place the item where they like whithin the players build radius. ALSO, I think the building itself should be on stilts, or raised in some way to prevent players from being able to server hop inside to negate your door, if the structure is raised some how then any server hoppers would simply be on the ground underneath and still OUTSIDE of your precious cabbin, whats the point of a locked door if some one can just server hop past it.
  22. First thing I will do is ask how to make a base, and then my next question will be how do we fortify it and then finally............ WHY IS BASE BUILDING NOT IN YET!.
  23. Something that has annoyed me to no end in the Arma engine is how the further away something is the more transparent(not literally) that thing becomes. Specifically I am talking about woods, and forests, it's ridiculous that from a distance not only can you see INTO, but THROUGH a forest or wood, sorry but this is now how ambient light or the human eye really works, the contrast is so great the eye cant detect anything inside a forest it tunes it out. This is a forrest from above.. http://www.store44.com/wp-content/uploads/ACA0040b.jpg THIS IS NOT A FOREST FROM ABOVE>. http://www.mmogames.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/zombie-mmo-games-dayz-standalone-chernarus-screenshot.jpg Even at this distance you can still clearly see through the tree canopy and see the ground, how many times have you lot flew over forests looking for camps ? all of you i bet, how many of you have ever though "This for the most part shouldnt even be possible" the thing about tree's is that they suck up air space to capture enough light from the sun they dont just hang out spread out and hardly fill any airspace. This exact same principle is in effect when simply looking into a forest, even 100 meters away any forest larger than just a few tree's should preset a wall of darkness and gloomy greens, NOT! wide open sun bathed for all to see. SO!!.. My suggestion is that you create a new mesh that wraps around forests, that only get's rendered when the viewing player is over 50 meters away, this mesh could easily have the camo net texture on it, or a new texture if you like, which would create the effect of forests being dark and gloomy places with less light and more inviting to hide in, instead of the massive vast open sunny places they are now. Helicopters flying overhead should ALWAYS see this new mesh, if they want to look for tents the players should land and actually LOOK!. Finally but more work and time consuming I would recommend. that all forests get more tree's to really darken them down and make them more the places they are in real life, light starved dark and mysterious places, that only get worse at night.
  24. As a low polly mesh flung over the tree's it would allow them to cull more triangles actually improving your fps. all those tree's under and behind the mesh could be cut down to very low polly models because you wont really be able to see them which would free up more video memory.
  25. The downside being that entering a forest would mean lack of visibility ? but isnt that how it should be? hell a lot of the time we shouldnt even be able to see the sky let alone have clear view in every direction, I would also like to see some large possiblt 2 or 3 times the size bushes , you know those red ones about the place, spread them through the forsts as well make them larger than the ones in the fields, those will obscure view and visibility as well.
