    Bigfoot in standalone?

    I would make a few conditions on this, the first would be that it screams like crazy, it would be super fast and it MUST do low damage like 200 or 300 a hit, as well as having really high damage hit points itself. the aim with these settings is that a player who runs into it, gets rush from it running at them screaming and then a prolonged terror from it scratching and tearing at them like some rabid animal screaming all the time. if its damage is to high the player would be dead before they realized what happend, but if its damage is low the player would run in terror while it ran after them hitting them and screaming all the way. I would give it a range if the player is really lucky and does not get knocked out, if he can make it out of the bigfoots range then the big foot might retreat back into its lair.

    because the map has lots of environments, but it lacks lots of islands, its got forrests, planes, cities, small towns, famrlands, but no islands. it could use a small desert as well.

    I would love to be able to use my axe, chops some tree's and make a few fake bushes to hide my tents, or cars. people will break branches and site them over things to hide them in real life, seems like a logical thing for us to be able to do, would essentially just be a tank trap but a orange bush.

    yeah making your own ghillie suit would be another really cool thing, I would like to be able to use a bush that you cut down to change the colour of your suit, if I cut down a red bush and use it on a suit it should make it a red bush suit, or if I cut down a green bush, or pine branch or if i cut some long grass each should give the suit their own colour and look. real snipers grab the leaves from the terrain around them to make their suit better.. the bush idea though would work so many ways, could plant a few of them around a tent masking it from all sides, you could mask traps, fences, cars, you could create little sniper hides, or hide your beloved bilke. so many options in terms of functionality from a very simple game mechanic.
  6. Sup peeps.. Been playing a while now, I play in a clan which is cool really nice bunch of guys, but of late, I am really finding it hard to find things to do in the game, I seem to have very very few options available to me. We as a clan build camps and bases, the server over time finds them, we move we rebuild, every now and then we find some cars and gather them up repair them and use them in either base moving or NWAF runs. I was wondering what other clans do when they hit that point where they feel there is nothing more they need, I hit this point a lot, and often I spend hours at the north west making sure I have the gear and ammo I need for base defense or clan support. but I have to say things are getting stale really fast, its becoming a chore , every time some troll sneaks in and satchel chargers our base, or every time some random server hopping player stumbles over our camp and simply out of spite takes everything out of our tents and then saves, I simply feel that there is nothing left for me to do now, other than become a troll myself, gear up and head down to a city and kill noobs, or head up north look for camps and troll others. This cant be the end game, we need more than this, as it stands now the end game is a joke and funnels people into simply killing other players on sight, I'm not sure how much longer I can last playing a game where my only objective is to survive and where I can do that simply by living on the edge of the map. We need threats but I dont agree these should come in the form of trolls, im not sure what I would suggest to solve this end game issue, but thought I would rant about it and see what you lot think.

    I have to say my major issue with the game right now is combat loggers and people that jump from a server while in combat to move behind you on another server and then log back in, or ghosting. I think they need to make it if you fire your gun or take fire and then you alt f4, it should just kill you on the spot and spill your guts all over the floor, better yet the server should drop a bomb on their face.
  8. what if, when you join a server, any server the Hive takes a look at its clock, what if that player then wants to move to another server and the Hive looks at the clock again and then says, "Sorry but you cannot move to another server for x minutes".. How pissed would you be, or more accurately how pissed would server hoppers be if they had to sit on a server for an HOUR before they could hop to another.
  9. We need an Active Millitary base with soldiers protecting it, you know all those ones that have survived the infection, put their base on the map so we can assault it, and up the spawns so that its more rewarding based on higher risk..
  10. yeah but there ARE alive npc's and their soldiers, who do you think keep sending out Helicopters that then for unkown reasons crash all over the place. so there is existing in the game now the implied military force alive some where.

  12. I was wondering what people would think of improvised traps.. Last night and the night before I have been breaking peoples legs and making an easy kill by placing a civ clothing over the top of a bear trap in some long grass, the thieves see the parcel cant resist the possible ghuillie suit or camo and when they goto pick it up SNAP, and I run in for the kill. PS. keep off the grass ;) But it got me thinking, what if a bear trap had an inventory, like a camp fire does, but what if the trap activates what ever is inside when its stood on, I thought up a few possible sitiations some silly others kinda fun to imaging what you might do with them. Bear Trap + Whiskey Bottle Broken leg, plus the bottle gets flung at the player doing that dissy effect, bear traps snap legs they could easily throw a whiskey bottle into the air, ok they couldn't aim but SHH its a game. Bear Trap + Mag Any bullets, shove in say an M107 or G17 mag, when the trap snaps shut the game fires off a mag full of ricochet in random directions, possibly dealing additional damage to the player, possibly missing, BUT making one hell of lot of noise. Bear Trap + Epi-Pen How about an Epi-Pen , would freak the player out make them shake like crazy for a few seconds as they get a massive rush , preventing the player from shooting straight for a few seconds. Bear Trap + Smoke Grenade Early warning system ?? pops smoke when some one walks over it, and breaks their leg of course, could be used to alert players to a possible threat. Bear Trap + Flare / chem Pops the Flare or Chem Light, lighting up the area, could be used as another early warning system for when players might be near by. Bear Trap + Satchel Charge...................... o.0 Bear Trap + [new item foghorn thingi] One of those things that make the loud noise some people take to sports, tripping it would let out a very loud noise audible from 700 meters or what ever the longest player range is, as well as pulling in any zombies 150 meters around and breaking their leg so they cant escape. Bear Trap + Boar Cent when placed, any boars within range would be drawn into the trap through the cent left, silently killing the boar, this could work for boars, and rabbits. would need a new item could be a cent gland or summit from a killed boar. or rabbit. Bear Trap + TankTraps Would fire off and setup a tank trap, not sure what the purpose of this would be, possibly it would jam a player against a wall and kill them, or possibly it would trap them inside something. Bear Trap + M203 Flare Would Launch the flare directly up, lighting up the area for all the see. and break their leg of course lol we can never forget the broken legs :) Bear Trap + GPS Could send a GPS signal to the owner alerting them via a map ping or something that one of their traps got tripped.. Bear Trap + Netting (new item) Would fire a net over the player slowing their movement speed to a crawl for a few seconds until they escape it , if they have a hunting knife their escape time would be faster. Those are just a few, oh god what if they had more than one slot, lol BT + M203 Flare + Satchel :) I say above , and breaks their legs alot, but some of the combinations would not need to break their legs, like the grenades, or possibly the flares as you would want them standing so you can shoot them. but I guess it can easily be debated. Bear Traps are cool I use them alot to protect my stuff when I am not around, but given they deal no damage their kinda useless as anything more than a harassment to the player, unless they dont have morphine, would be nice if they has some bite ;)

    rofl..... NWAF , was pushing the loot had a big dump of crap then it hit me, hide a trap under it all, so I set three traps, vaulted into the middle of them dumped 28 items vaulted out, then hid. CLANK. "ouch, medic ...... BANG!" ROFL

    it would make it easier for the hackers, they simply open their map, see all vehicles and tents and people, then run to one drive it around to the others etc etc etc. You know a fun little thing to pull, goto the very top left or right corner, take 1 car, and like 10 tents, set them all up and wait, I would be willing to bet that on a high traffic server you will have some one heading your way and reaching you within about 30 minutes, and every one that turns up will be hacking, they see that many tents in a single place alone with a car and their little hacker brains go into over drive and they cant resist looking to see what takes so many tents to store.

  17. the only solution is to implement car keys, if you have a key it goes into your tool belt and allows you to drive a specific car, they then give each spawned car a unique iD liked to the Key on the player, only that player will then be able to drive the car .. if that player is then killed and another player gets his key, he can then drive the car, or if he dies and despawns then the key would respawn inside the car. Hackers would no longer be able to just take your car, without first killing everything on the server and that in itself would show they were on the server and get logged, they would get banned.. we need keys.. badly.

    I think I might win , driving an ATV ( yeah really ) when driving along a normal road, no obstructions in sight, a rabbit runs across the road, the ATV connects with it, and I and the ATV are sent about 200 meters into the air, I was so high up the ground almost started to fade out, HIGH!!!. All I could do was hold on and watch as the earth came screaming toward me, must have been in the air for a good 40 seconds before the bag as I slammed into the ground. funny thing is I thought I survived the atv landed on its wheels, i got off and then the game and the server both agreed I should die, the wheels popped off I saw this and ran, then I hear a bang and suddenly Im dead at the base of the atv in a ball of burning hell lol FUCK YOU RABBIT.

I HOPE!, that when we get to build under ground bases, the one of the rooms we can build is a garage and we can park our cars inside our underground bases, lock the door, get now now hacking little bitches.

    I think all Millitary Infected should be armed. I have to agree with others that while they pose a bit of a challenge in the NWAF its still relatily easy to get up there and gear up. I would suggest the following, Military Infected are not as far along the infection as civ's as a result they still retain some semblance of control and find themselves in a state of confusion making them shoot on anything that moves that has a heart beat, think the hulk without the green and the muscles. I would then lower the respawn rate on the military zombies so that players who take them out have a little time to loot before the next set arrives. I would also push their spawn points away from loot buildings and have them spawn in the forest and walk into the base, players who get into loot would then have to fend them off while they loot. finally I would (for military buildings only) remove that 30 meter cut off point. With a system like this, a group of players would need to actually ASSAULT the air field, they would need to clear the buildings they want to get loot from and then they would need to hold them for at least 10 - 20 minutes to wait on the loot spawning in, and if the zombies spawn every 5 minutes in the forest and walk toward the players and buildings, shooting as they go, players would have to really tactically play and defend their building for a time while they get their loot. Getting gear would be harder, more of a risk, and would need more organization. At the moment you just run around like an idiot, find some loot dump it ten feet away if its not what you want, then run around some more like a headless chicken just ignoring the zombies, in fact you only need to run through the fire house to lose them so you can loot if something of value does spawn, its kinda far to easy really. OH I would give each town, and city a few cops, armed with pistols, they should follow the same AI laws, patrolling the streets and taking shots at any players that think just running in and out or around buildings to lose the zombies is fun. COME ON, we can take it, why is it only players that can shoot back make the zombies more of a threat and giving them some guns will do the trick I think. OH and the zombies would not drop the guns their firing on death, lets for balance sake just assume they are covered in infection and blood and guts and not desirable by the player.

    I agree , I dont really care if its infected or partially infected soldiers or AI civs that have banded together to hold the air feild the bottom line is that they need to be made stronger and more of a threat, this is less about making the game scary (your second point) and more about making obtaining and upkeeping top grade gear harder and require more skill and organization, what I have suggested above is my thoughts on how that could be done. Partially infected , gives us a new type of zombie to worry about around army base's , stops players just running around zombies like fucking retards cos thats so stupid its bordering on insane, throw an armed half zombie in the mix and people will not be so willing to just run around like an idiot they will have to plan their entry. As for the AI sorry but your talking through your arse hole, the ArmA2 AI is good, its good in other mods, and the main game, no reason the devs cant make the AI for an armed zombie a little better, In fact I fully expect the normal zombie AI to get a lot better in standalone as the project now has arma devs working on it. sorry but I deny your counter points, their shit. I do like the sound of AI Bandit types holding the army bases tho, wish I had thought of that before posting this thread would have been about ai bandits and not zombies. either way iv said what I wanted to say, suggested what I wanted to suggest, and thankfully you have nothing to do with the dev process so your opinion like mine is meaningless, iv made my post where they can read it, with any luck they will like the idea or like that other guy take some inspiration from it and make it an even better idea.

    you all keep rabbiting on about infected and completely passing over the comments i made about varying levels of infection and the symptoms those levels exhibit I guess your all doing that to try and make your point easier to make. All your doing is dodging the issue and making my point more valid. but one last time for the blind or lazy who didnt read it all, I am proposing military ai that are NOT FULLY INFECTED, but rather at a stage where their just confused losing their grip on humanity and still able to cary and shoot guns. anyone who fails to read this and take it into account in their reply is simply an idiot.

    and how does that make it any harder to raid the NWAF, I am still just going to run around gather them all up into a hord, run through the fire station to trap them all then be on my merry way looting in safety. giving them more HP will do nothing but make the idiots out there lose more ammo even faster, wait yeah thats probably a good thing but do that as well as arm them.

    OH and I was not suggesting that they be crack shots, make their am kinda crap their infected after all their aim should be the same as a players whos cold, has concusion and their cross hair is bouncing all over the place, they might shoot in your general direction but their actual hit percentages would be low, like 20-30% chance of them hitting you if your standing still, and dropping if your prone or running. I was not suggestion that they all be SAS. or SEAL zombies.
