Here's another in-game cosplay. I was only able to pull this one off thanks to Photoshop, because you can't wear the anti-stab vest and SMERSH vest at the same time unfortunately. This "cosplay" is a Russian MVD spetsnaz (or Osnaz) Vityaz impression (probably around 2006-07)

Yes exactly. DayZ is all about how your choices affect your character's ability to survive. Should you choose to wear body armour, you should be prepared to make a compromise - such as a smaller backpack.

With the introduction of the new Equipment Tab at the top of your inventory in 0.63 we can now see where our clothing and equipment fall under in categories such as hats, vests, shirts, etc. (Equipment Tab.) I believe that putting Tactical Vests and Body Armour under the same 'vest' category should be corrected and should be split into two different slots. One for body armour and one for load carrying equipment. Most countries under both NATO and Warsaw pacts issue soldiers with some sort of chest rig and body armour to wear underneath. For example, in the Canadian Forces we're given a 'frag vest', which is an anti-stab/anti-slash vest which we can put plates in. The frag vest offers no pockets or pouches other than the spaces where the sapi plates go, so we're also issued a tactical vest. This is where we keep our equipment such as magazines, medical supplies, a canteen, etc. The tac vest offers no protection, whereas the frag vest does. You wear these together when in the field. (Frag Vest left, Tac Vest right.) This two-vest system is used by many, many countries - including Russia. There are a LOT of different pieces of equipment that the Russian Armed Forces use, but one that stands out to me the most (because of it's existence in the game) is a piece of body armour called Kora Kulon. Look familiar? That's right, fellas. It's the 'anti-stab' police vest in the game already. (Kora Kulon body armour left, DayZ anti-stab vest right. Aside from extra stitching on the DayZ vest they're exactly the same.) Kora Kulon is a plate carrying bullet resistant body armour used by the Russian police and military. I have no clue why it's ONLY an anti-stab vest in the game, but this is why I'm writing this post. The russkies wear this vest with all sorts of load bearing vests, including the SPOSN SMERSH vest. (Russians wearing the SMERSH vest and Kora-Kulon body armour. Note they're also wearing the 'Gorka' helmet which is known as a K6-3, Altyn, or ZSh1-2 helmet in real life.) ( IRL vs in-game. I photoshopped the anti-stab vest under the SMERSH so you can see what it would look like. SPOSN Gorka-E Uniform, ZSh1-2 Helmet with Visor, Kora Kulon Body Armor, SPOSN SMERSH Vest.) So my suggestion is to make load-bearing vests have little to no armour value, and add the ability to wear plate carriers and body armour UNDERNEATH the tactical vests and chest rigs. Vests that have both plate carrying and load carrying abilities such as the plate carrier with pouches and/or pistol holster should take up both slots. Thanks for reading folks and I hope this suggestion finds its way to the ears of the devs, 'cause I reckon it would make the game that much better in the end. Feel free to throw in your two cents, I'd love to hear your feedback or ideas.

Meeting up with friends SHOULD be more accessible in .63.

I think spawning on friends should only be an option when every one of you are dead or on a brand spankin' new character. This makes sense to limit people spawning on their buddies and giving them gear to go and pvp in some city, but it also gives you a choice if all of your friends happen to die. Think about it. All your friends die but you - they're nagging you to kill your character and join them on the coast to start the grind all over again. But in your character's point of view, all his friends just died and he probably doesn't see much point living anymore. Makes that F11 key look miiiighty fine. Say only one of your friends dies. Now that just gives your friend group a quest to go down and pick him up. With all the new spawns and stuff at the coast it gives your group a challenge and a reason to go down south. There's not much to do in the game once you've got decent gear, so something like that would be welcomed. -
It's a step in the right direction definitely. With how long it took you to max out the skill I reckon it will make people take a second thought on how much they value the time they put into their character. I do agree that a one second difference is a little lame, but I'm sure all of this will change in the future. I like how long it takes, but I don't like the reward.

With the vast amount of clothing in the standalone I usually catch myself cosplaying the characters from the mod - especially the hero skin. I usually prefer the light blue check shirt over a TTsKO jacket or even the M65 jacket - after convincing myself that I can survive without the extra inventory slots. My usual argument to myself is "well in the mod you only had 12 slots for gear so you don't NEED any more than that!" Anyways I figured I'd show you some screenshots of some "in-game cosplay" as I call it. I did this in the offline singleplayer version of 0.63 to save some time. Makes me wish there was an option to tuck shirts in. Here's hoping they add a "hero" shirt into the game, eh?! Here's some ChDKZ insurgents from the ArmAII Campaign.

The footage is from Arma 2, 3, and DayZ Standalone. So there's no real home for it. It's intended to be about the standalone, so it's here.

Actually it's a font called Gulag Decay, not me attempting to spell words in cryllic. And C is S in cryllic, so it says something along SNEYAIATS, not whatever you just pulled out of your ass. Hope you enjoy that cancer you spoke of, pal.

Episode 1: The Helicopter Crash I want to make more of these in the future, so please, if you have any suggestions, share them! This was my first time really using Adobe After Effects. Lots of green screen work and colour correction mostly. I love the double exposure type. Looks a lot like the DayZ Logo, except there's a story being shown inside it.

This is Russian Military/Police 'Kora Kulon' body armour. Look familiar? It's exactly like the Anti-Stab vest. Except less wimpy. Why not just change the stats on items that are already in game? Because in my opinion, I think the Anti-Stab vest is the best vest in the game. Not for items, of course, but for looks and practicality. The only thing that could make it better is making it stop low-caliber bullets.

A vision of what DayZ 1.0 could look like

Very well done! Just a pro tip for next time, if there is one. When you want to film something in-game (or even take a screenshot), but don't want the crosshairs in there, just rotate your character's body so he's facing about 70-90 degrees off of what the target for the frame is, then doubletap left ALT so you go into freelook mode. From there, if you move your head over and look at the target, you should notice that your crosshairs will eventually stop following your cursor and leave the screen if you look far enough over. If that was confusing, I literally just made a video on this halfway through writing this post, because I figured it would be. Enjoy. -
Great choice of music. So solemn and peaceful

You don't even have to open the can all the way. Stab the top of the can and 'drink' the contents out. Knife.... 2 seconds Screwdriver.... 5 seconds. Axe.... 2 seconds Don't let the way the current items look and the way you eat them ruin your imagination. It is Alpha, after all.

If bads kill goods and goods kill bads Who's bad and who's good? If killing is considered bad, then why can goods do it? People have this belief that Heroes are the guys who kill bandits. Sure, but how does that make them any better than the bandits themselves?
