To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7
Kyzahh replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was around 4 hours at the start, then it got popular and dropped to 15 minutes with everyone repawn spamming to get an electro spawn. -
Like the idea of a handcrank + hose giving you a continuous flow of fuel to the car until you cancel the animation, same kind of idea as the blood transfusions are at the moment.

Oh shit nigger, what are you doing? No need to bump it every few minutes.

E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay
Kyzahh replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
What people don't seem to realize is the amount of effort and time it takes to make a game. To put it in perspective I'll use a game people know and criticize a LOT, Call of Duty. The standalone team have been working on this for less than a year, probably around 9~10 months. Each CoD iteration is worked on by separate teams (IW and Treyarch), so basically they take a year and 9 months (give or take) to make a new game. But even with a team of ~100 working on the game, they still have the same engine with little to no revamping and the overall changes to the game are really not that major (using the change from MW2 to MW3 here). I'm not sure about the size of the team working on the SA but I can't say that it would be more than 60 people, with even less probably working on the core of the game. And the fact that they have taken the ArmA engine and converted it to a more MMO style of architecture frankly is HUGE. The task itself would have taken up so much of that 9~10 months that the current state of the game is where I would expect it. Yes I see all the glitches and imperfections but they're not un-fixable. There are many exciting games being released in the near future, not to mention the ones that have already released, DayZ is not the be all and end all. I will buy it as soon as it comes available but I'm not going to sink 100% of my gaming time into it. All I'm saying is that expecting the game to be in a polished state is foolish and anyone who does doesn't have a clue. -
So I thought it might be a nice idea to discuss some of the features that may or may not already be in the mod and how we want them implemented into the standalone. I may make more threads like this in the future if this goes well (please keep it civilized) and I did do a quick search and didn't find anything discussing this feature but I may have missed it, if I have feel free to graveyard this. Okay, the 'Hide Body' system. In my view, this needs to be revamped. In real life, bodies don't sink into the ground, you have to dig a hole first and bury them, now I'm not suggesting the dev team add a digging mechanic just so you can hide bodies. What I am suggesting is that you can treat a dead players body sort of like an unconscious body. - Dragging a body You've just shot someone and you haven't much time so you want to move their body quickly, perhaps drag it around a corner or into a bush. This would mean it's out of other players line of site and maybe they won't find it, for example, you just shot someone outside of the elektro fire station gates, you want players to be lured into the fire station with hopes of finding some loot only to be turned away when they see a body lying at the gates, so you drag the body inside the fire station and the unsuspecting player is none the wiser until they get closer and hear the flies. - Carrying a body You want to move a body a fair distance so you don't mind spending a few extra seconds near the corpse to lift it onto your shoulders, but once you have, you can move a bit faster than you would dragging the body and you're able to walk forwards, whereas dragging a body you can only walk backwards. This would be helpful for setting a trap or loading a body into a vehicle. For example, you carry one or two player bodies out onto the runway at the NWAF, while your squad mates loot the barracks you can keep an eye out on the body and see if any players approach it to check what loot it might have on it. Another feature that would be nice to see if you were able to carry bodies would be able to throw them (whether or not this would be possible with the engine I don't know). Now I don't mean a huge toss as that would be silly, I mean a small throw that would land them a few feet in front of you. This could be used to drop bodies in things eg. a dumpster. How would you feel if you were walking along in a town or city when you hear the telltale flies of a dead body, only to come across a dumpster with 3 or more bodies inside. - Loading bodies into a vehicle Just like it would be nice to be able to load unconscious players into a vehicle, it would be nice to be able to do it with dead bodies as well. This would be useful with multiple bodies to dispose of. For example, You've just wiped out an enemy squad and you don't want them getting their gear back from their bodies, so you have a squad mate bring round the pickup and load all the bodies into the back and drive off to dump them elsewhere. - Fly spray / insect repellent 'What is this?' I hear you ask. Well, what's the point of hiding bodies if players will just follow the sound of flies? This is why I purpose an item that loots to the tool belt that you can spray a body with and it will remove the flies hanging around the body and in turn, remove the noise that tells players a dead body is in the area. *EDIT* - Rigging a body As simple as that. I have a satchel charge and a dead body, lay the charge and cover it with the body, wait for an unsuspecting survivor to come along, and boom, now you have 2 bodies. Now, you may argue this is too complex and that if the only reason was because you didn't want players to get the loot and that you could just destroy the loot instead with a full backpack instead. Which is why if this was implemented, it would also need to be fixed the fact that you can destroy loot, thus presenting players with a few choices on whether to leave the body and get as far away as possible or hide it and hope no one finds it. I'd like to hear others thoughts / opinions on the matter. ~Kyzahh

No DevBlog this week but here is some screens

I love all the progress this has made but one thing irks me, and that's the font used in the menu, ui and such. I wouldn't put it on comic sans level but I just don't like the look of it. Is this just me? (Because I feel like it is.) Keep up the good work Rocket. -
http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/114307-the-hide-body-system/ My ideas for an overhaul.

Clone Versions of myself on certain servers ?
Kyzahh replied to walterchambers's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And all of these servers are using the main hive? It is possible that your home server was rolled back and the two servers you're talking about are on different hives. -
Hero Skin Still Blurry (with BAF)

Pretty sure it's a PMC skin. -
My optimal 1000usd build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kyzahh/saved/11iy I did make that a little while ago so some things may have changed but they'd be minor.

ROCKET. Playing with friends question (Standalone)
Kyzahh replied to djshauny1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think one of the solutions to this problem would be to make bikes very common on the coast. Shitty off road speed, but much faster than running when you're on the road. -
Cannot play Dayz at all. Unbearable lag even on new PC.
Kyzahh replied to martinusn's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
My friend had problems with DayZ all the time when he was on a limited upload plan. He had ~1MB/s download and ~20kB/s upload and it wasn't enough to maintain a solid connection, he would desync and get kicked all the time and it was only solved when he changed to an unlimited upload speed plan. -

FPS will be as high as the ARMA 2 engine will allow with its bad optimising.

Actually the integrated graphics from this instance come from the AMD APU which aren't great but it's one of the best on boards graphics you can find as far as I'm aware. To answer your question in simple, yes, you can have both. Edit: Wow, one pci slot? Yes you will be able to as long as there is space, but that power supply is on the low side for running medium-high to high so you'd have to get a lower end graphics card unledd you wanted to upgrade the psu.

Everyone is blowing this food thing way out of proportion. "IT'S BREAKING MY IMMERSIONZ!!1!#@ QQQQQQQQQ" How? Do you sit in your gear looking at the name of your food and having a mental breakdown? I don't know about everyone else but my immersion came from the tense situations like encountering another player or desperately searching for a bandage or some morphine while I'm bleeding out or my legs are broken, not because my drink is the same as one I can get from my local store. Seriously guys...

There are plenty of public hive servers that are pretty much standard. Just look harder.

Did a thread similar to this talking about dead bodies. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/114307-the-hide-body-system

I'm kind of on the fence about this. On one hand disabling it makes it harder which is a plus. But iirc changing between 1st and 3rd person is going to require using the menu in the SA which means with no CH, 3rd person will be rather hard to use to quickly pop off a couple of zombies who you've aggro'd. What I guess I'd like to see would be CH disabled in 1st person but enabled in 3rd with increased weapon sway across the board making it a bit harder to use. That's my opinion anyway. Oh, and it can be enabled / disabled serverside.
-
While I'd love that I feel like it would probably hurt balance. Why waste bullets when you can switch to your hatchet nearly instantaneously to silently kill a couple zombies.

uwotm8. Mine *current forum* was loosely based on Caesar as in Julius Caesar. And my steam name is based on 'ZEDD' the artist and doubles as zed *zombie* which is nice.

Falsely Banned for Duplication (Server in Desc.)
Kyzahh replied to CS14's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Is this a global ban or just from a private hive? -
Well that would be because the A-10 has an HD7660D which is a pretty good GPU for a CPU/GPU combo.
