A bit of an update. A future API is definately possible. There are methods that I've looked at that would make it effecient and not affect DB at all. This is however not a priority just yet. We'll make the infrastructure (everything from and including client to backend) a bit more robust. *selfproclaimed lead dba / infra-dev* :) -

Vehicle update (2012-06-22): - Respawning of destroyed vehicles have been done yesterday. Locations not disclosed :) - Choppers are still a no go. I will not reply to PMs asking "PLEASE GIVE US CHOPPER ON OUR SERVER that other server has them, why cant we??? Ill edit the mission bpo!". (I get a lot of those) Editing mission pbo wont help you as this is not how we load vehicles in. Infact it may at best cause corruption issues or the player who goes into one to explode, at worst get your server blacklisted. - I've finally managed to get the people over at BIS to acknowledge the bug/issue that we've been seing. We'll just have to wait for an update from BIS until we can roll out choppers to all servers. -

Unstickying this since the biggest issues are worked out now :) Not closing the thread now incase someone wants to bring it back up to top in the future. The old files are still kept. I move them to the old folder for now, but no guarantees for the future :) -

Please dont change settings yet as we're working on fixing some code related bugs. This is the cause of the recent performance issues. Changing to custom settings will make it much harder to diagnose issues. We will focus on the code related optimization and then parameter changes.

CLARIFICATION: Vehicles respawn if the following conditions are met: - Unused for at least 7 days. (subject to change and my whims) - Fully destroyed WHEN: random / secret times (less often) VEHICLES at risk (will be respawned / reset): - Vehicles hidden in "green acres" (aka out of bounds area) You can drive there, they will save but there're NO GUARANTEES that they will stay there for long. Same reason you cant place a tent there either. - Vehicles containing illegal items. WHEN: random / secret times (more often) About helicopters: - NEED MORE TESTING before full roll out on all instances. - Only old legacy servers might still have some (does not respawn). If someone corners the vehicle market. Good for them, now go steal their cars. -

Vehicles was only reset this ONCE. That means it would only respawn to original place after 1 server restart. Not further restarts. If your offroad is missing but none other, then someone probably stole it. -
Information to server hoster (please update hive 0.9.2 and older)

Hello! We'd like to remind serverhosters that the grace period to update hive 0.9.2 and older is almost over. In 24h we'll be disabling the old versions. If you're still running 1.6.0.1 servers or older make sure you run hive 0.9.3. For 1.7.0 servers, make sure you run at least hiveExt 0.4.1 . Best regards Ander -

Legacy choppers that arent respawning are gone. They are damaged beyond repair and wont spawn in. Sorry but you'll have to wait a bit. @teary-eyed people: hey, we're making a game and this is alpha :) we're sorry you lost some stuff but it's done so things can improve. -
I have wanted to implement the function that nothing outside map boundaries gets its location saved. So basicly, vehicles moved outside of boundaries will have it's last location saved inside the map boundaries. We'll see what happens with that though.

Servers just need restart. But I recommend serverowners to update to the latest arma2 beta version. Update the battleeye script file and ban lists from our serverhoster repository. -

If your server is still up, then yes you can still get items out of your vehicles. If your server has restarted and the vehicle locations reset - then you are out of luck. Vehicles, tents etc havent been a safe place to store items like in ever. This update should improve that a little bit but you'll now have to make sure your tent/vehicle is actually used regularily and not left to rot :). *Roleplay* I'm the big bad bandit who just stole all your items and then blew up the vehicles with a satchel charge. I think that makes me the worst of them all. Sorry! Stickifying this post. -

Already enabled on some servers :) They dont work as they should. And radar makes them imba. -

No aircrafts yet. All vehicles, even those outside map, hoarded etc will be reset to original location. After this patch you can still hoard vehicles. But letting them collect dust unused will cause them to wear down and eventually they will go poof and reset to original location :) Not exactly a realistic solution, but it's a workaround for people just moving vehicles to off map grid coordinates and then forgetting about them. -
BE global bans is entirely different to the invalid item/weapon cleanup we're doing. The "invalid" weapon removal is pretty noticable. You will simply find yourself without the shiny weapon you found/spawned/"accidentally" stumbled upon and have it replaced with a makarov. :) If you're found several times to be carrying the invalid weapon - flags will start to be raised. Rest assured that database level bans are just as carefully implemented as BE global bans. Exactly the rate of checks, how the check is performed and how the account flagging system (separate from BE) won't be revealed for obvious reasons. The game is still early alpha so we hope that in the future we'll prevent the most common methods to get items that you are not entitled to. /Ander

Invalid weapons are removed constantly. If you're found several times with an illegal/invalid weapon you might get a warning/ban depending on severity. -

Bit hard to do that as players switch servers alot. Could however do stats on where the character was originally created and how long it has survived since then.
