Just a notice: We regularily clean up non legit items. Players found on MULTIPLE times will raise flags in our systems and may risk getting their playerIDs made defunct in DayZs database. Players who stumble upon hacked items on off chance dont run risk of flagging. The ones at risk are those who repeatedly spawn items and are in possession of these items. I'd however recommend that those items in that ural is thrashed as those items will be removed in regular database cleanups. That ural "may" have been a legit vehicle but it's likely a spawned vehicle. If at next server restart it doesnt spawn back in at the location you left it at, then it wasnt a legit vehicle. The items in it is definately not the standard items and it's likely it's one of the hack spawned vehicles. -
Locking this thread as further discussion is pointless. Things have been repeated and said multiple times. DayZ team does not charge for server nor can we refund any services people buy from thirdparties (such as server space, time slice, cpu time, bandwidth etc). We have strict rules about allowing people to use the mod and connection to the database to provide a level playfield. These rules and conditions (subject of change at any time) are all clearly defined before anyone is allowed to use the mods server files or connection.

* Implemented a method to re-create vehicles that were missing entirely from some instances. (either caused by hive bugs or too heavy clean-up in object database, this affected less than 0.1% of available vehicles but would still need to have been done some time in the future). [2012-07-07] @poisonman: they are pretty rare, cant reveal exact spawn chance :) but I think there are some loot maps floating out there with guesstimates. @people asking about missing inventory from vehicles/tents: Known bug. Will be fixed with 1.7.2 or upcoming minor hotfixes after that release. Other notes: There seem to be an issue where weapons sometimes disappear out of backpack. Need more testing to fix. -

Vehicles that remain unused for a short period of time ( Also a quick 24h notice. If you have tents hidden outside of map in the green acres- be sure to pickup your gear now as those tents will now be swept away by the strong winds of those wide plains. (NON RP reason: no you shouldnt be building bases hidden outside of map boundaries, tents and items outside of map boundary will now be removed on regular basis.)- 263 replies

The green acres Im refering to that now have a 6h respawn limit is the area outside of vegetation (no grass texture except the flat ground, the border can be clearly seen and other people here have posted pictures). You arent supposed to be able to pitch tents there but due to bugs it has sometimes been possible anyway. Tents, sandbags, wirekits, tank traps and so forth have now been wiped. There are fields in far north, west and northwest that are fine to setup bases in that still have long grass. But I'd personally say those fields are usually where people get the same idea... so they stumble upon other people camps. Someone complained that this is a "win" for carebears. I'd say this is a nerf against carebears who want safe places to store their phat lewtz. This is a boost to playing inside the map borders. Grow a pair, hide your bases better in deep forests. Dont store your vehicles in large psuedo-parking lots where they are easy to spot. Got myself a nice little camp in almost center of map where we have a couple of tents. Gone 2 weeks without anyone finding it (L85, NVG, rangefinder etc). If you want to build big camps (that are easy to spot), prepare to defend it or keep watch. I know some hardcore communities out there actually post guards through out the day/night to spot hostiles. As for the future. I've got a few ideas on how to assist people who do want to build bases and fortify it. I'll be discussing it with Rocket and see what he thinks. And also a few ideas on method to handle ghosting, more on that in separate posts. -

I might decrease the 24h unused to say 6h. This should allow people to not risk getting their vehicle "reset" while they are still actively using it. But prevents daily refreshing of your "stuff" ala facebook mini games which require you to login every day to retain your bonuses *cringe*. -

Inside map borders = safe (does not get the tent removal purge) Unused empty tents = wiped after 7 days Unused tents with items = wiped after 14 days Refresh tents by either save, using inventory (moving items around) to prevent them getting wiped. Sandbags, wirefence etc will in the future either be refreshable or have some method to maintain them. The idea isnt that a thousand wirefence wont be possible to be removed :) This is up to rocket to decide exact mechanics. Sometimes I wonder how you hear these "facts" that arent true. Tents can definately be looted by anyone, even if the player hasnt died yet . -

Items are serverbound. Vehicles and items out of bounds are subject to removal. No guarantees at all that they will survive long. Infact I have a few tents on my list for removal that are stored in green acres! -

If you have interacted with your "empty" tents recently, then it wont despawn until it's not used for at least 7 days. As for choppers. No "flying" choppers are legit at the moment: I will update vehicle thread when I do add in choppers - but any choppers found ingame atm are most likely "cheated". (not too be confused with the normal spawned crashed chopper areas) Vehicles may disappear on following conditions: - after server reboot the vehicle never loaded in properly due to lag between the server and hive. (fixed by restarting server one more time) - last known save was somewhere else than where the vehicle was when server restarted (fixed by tracing back to last known position where you exited the vehicle or saved it manually by tracking back the same path) - cheated vehicle that was never spawned through database. - legacy vehicles removed several weeks ago. -

There's a workaround, go prone. Creep up to tent and keep looking around till you get gear option. Also nice hidden tent you got there ;) -

Actually. Tents do not vanish if your character dies. Tents dont disappear for any reason except during cleanup (me removing old unused tents). But I'm thinking of making it so that you can refresh tents for characters that have died, but this will require rockets input. The condition that I think is more realistic is that tents will "fall over" if left unattended for too long. To avoid that you simply need to refresh the tent by opening inventory, shuffle something around or press save. (anyone remember old Ultima Online and refreshing houses? sort of like that) -

Changelog 2012-06-16: All vehicles locations will be reset after server restarts. This is required to implement respawning. * [FIXED] All land and water vehicles will now spawn in a repairable state . * [NEW] Vehicles can now be tracked on database level, they will respawn or be reset at secret intervals once they have been destroyed. * [NEW] Vehicles left unused too long (hidden, placed in unreachable locations, bugged) will be reset after a minimum of 7 days - this exact time of respawn is also secret. * [NEW] Vehicles are spawned on all new servers. Future implementation: Vehicle models will be mixed up (randomized) a little depending on which type of vehicle that can spawn at a certain area. This means some vehicle models might become rarer. Known issues: Helicopters are still very dangerous to fly due to desync issues. These type of vehicles will only be available on some very old servers until this issue is fixed. Your safety as a pilot or passenger is NOT guaranteed. (hopefully fixed with release of 1.7.1, need more testing) Note to server admins: Serverside recommendation: Please update your arma2 server version to latest beta in preparation for 1.7.1 release. Also make sure your battleeye files are up to date or players will have troubles playing on your server if their client version is later than 93825.
