Will dogs log out with the player?

Dogs currently do not logout with player. The first release with dogs is mostly technology test. It'll be fleshed out with more features at a later patch. -
We're adding a couple of semi-official dayz vanilla and testing servers. Keep an eye out for them under the tag "DayZ.nu" on serverlisting. We'll mainly be testing new features, while also testing stability of current mod. These servers are restarted quite often, each one has its own local hive. They are run by community developers / contributors so, only a select few trusted admins for these.

Official mod will probably remain pretty locked down. Efforts will be made to improve cheat prevention. Alot of stuff in the pipeline coming soon . If there's some classes that can be safely allowed we could look at adding official support for it. -

Addition: At the moment there is no active technical or support team for the mod anymore. Rocket has turned this over to be run by the community instead while our time is directed elsewhere. Locking this thread. My "personal" recomendation is to move toward local / private hives instead when global hive eventually shuts down. (when ever that may be I do not know, just that hive is EOL out of my personal perspective) -

Sorry but I thought the general recommendation from Rocket was to migrate over to private hives? DayZ standalone takes most time now and the community databases are being worked on instead. Old hive is really marked as EOL (end of life and feature locked) and no support from me is done on that anymore. There are some daily automated maintenance but it didnt include clearing hacked in vehicles. If hive was still actively maintained there's a lot of stuff that I'd like to implement and also hope to change on the side but time and effort isnt directed on the mod or old hive. It'd be a losing battle to keep removing spawned vehicles over and over if it isnt filtered client and serverside. -
Hello guys! So we noticed the content delivery hamsters were getting tired. During patchdays we'd usually see 1.2Gbit/s sustained traffic from main mirror. Or roughly 2.8TB/6hours transfer. The new mirror that has been put online is the French mirror thanks to the guys over at ViLAYER. We've got a few more coming soon at more hosts, multiple in UK and USA. We still recommend that people use the Sixupdater method or download using torrents. Contact me if you'd like to help out and setup a mirror. The main requirements are that it has bandwidth to spare (100Mbit/s is easily saturated during patchday), that it can run an effecient httpd such as nginx or similar. Can run cronjobs, bash and rsync. We know that there are a couple of inofficial mirrors. But we'd like to remind everyone never to download files without verifying the md5checksums from our main repository. Current official download mirrors can be found here.

While we do continue to review rules to better balance the game, this topic will be locked for now. As for questions about german law. In nowhere do we "sell" dayz as a service, it's a thirdparty software that you host on servers that you rent from somebody else. Im not a lawyer, but Im pretty sure it's self explanatory that WE the dayz team does not limit you from using your bought services. Cause you arent making a contract with "US" the dayz team. Other than that, this is plain silly. As the DayZ game nears completion more and more parts of dayzmod will less strict. We'll review the rules when the time comes. -
2012-07-03 * Various improvement and changes at backend in preparation of 1.7.2. * Cleanup of objects: - Removed legacy wire fences, tank traps and sandbags that are older than time itself (before we started tracking their age). In the future we'll start cleaning up unused wire fence, tank traps and sandbags that arent "maintained" in a certain period of time. - Removed empty tents that are older than 7 days. In the future tents will start decaying more quickly (depends on factors such as if the placing character is still alive, if someone has used the tent in X amount of days - this is still subject to change). - Destroyed vehicles respawned using the simple method (will appear on next server restart). More advanced method will be used later (dynamic locations, inventory, vehicle types etc).

Just an example and idea, no guarantees that this will be implemented. While ghosting has indeed been a problem for some I'd like to address this in quite a simple and elegant behaviour. Implementing a new type of object. Portable radiotower (quite tall so it's visible and can be deactivated by other people) Characteristics: - Requires an active 'portable generator' to "power" the radiotower. - Prevents "logins" inside a radius of the broadcast range of this radiotower. - Broadcast range of jamming signal affects the length power draw. * Players attempting to login within the broadcast radius will be told that there is currently an active radiotower broadcasting a jamming signal. * Players is given choice to spawn to spawn at edge of the jamming signal. Portable generator - Requires fuel (can be refueled with jerry can) - Powers a radiotower for up to 6h at minimum range, and 30 to 60min at maximum range . Burning fireplaces works as before but with added function: - Prevents login within 100 to 200m (radius to be balanced) - Displays similar message to player attempting to login, player is given choice to spawn at edge of radius. Secondly. I'd like to start supporting active communities basing out of different servers. Especially those active by helping them setup camps / bases . This would mostly be cosmetic things, but could be such things as camo netting in forests and tents. Pros / cons ?

It's not allowed to shutoff servers to protect your gear. This is a warning, next time your vehicles and items on that server will be wiped. -

Most destroyed vehicle is the Ikarus. Closely followed by bicycles. (adjusted by frequency ratio) -

One chopper per server has now been added to spawn rotation. Will test out balance a little bit before more are added. Enjoy! (Message mostly to server hosters: Also servers who havent updated to latest hive will not be able to save vehicle progress, so make sure your favourite server is up to date.) -

I've rolled out choppers on all instances now. They should start appearing after server restarts. Servers that havent been upgraded yet will have issues using vehicles (such as location and inventory not saving at all). Old hive will be deactivated shortly and those servers will cease functioning until they've upgraded.- 663 replies

Chopper desync should be substantially decreased. Tests have shown they work much better thanks to efforts of decreasing write spam and as well as BIS stability fixes. I'll seed the first batch of choppers into the DB in about 36h.
