How do I tell if a server has restarted? And should I check for camps on crowded servers or just any server?

I've heard Dayz Commander is a lot better than Six Launcher. Also I've found Six Launcher doesn't show all available servers anymore, so it's annoying to join with friends. Is it easy to change? Will I have to do anything besides just downloading Commander and launching it?

Atlanta 106 is missing in DayZCommander. It appears in six launcher though :/.

The problem with six updater was my friends and I would all be on the same connection but different servers would show up for each of us. As long as we can all find the same servers we're fine. I haven't switched yet but I'll post here if I run into any problems when I do.

I'm traveling with a group of 4, and one of us has an AKM. So I guess I'll figure out tonight.

Do you mean it's not really better? Will it at least not block servers from showing up so we don't have to spend 10 minutes finding a server?

I spawned into a server and found a dead guy right outside my building. It had like 10 people in the game so I was surprised. I looted his body and found the following: 1- M16 with grenade launcher 2- 8 grenades for the launcher 3- like 10 mags including 4 100 mg36 mags 4- NVGs 5- GPS 6- Map 7- Coyote pack (best pack in the game) 8- A lot of other random good stuff I spawned into a different server later in the day to meet with friends and my stuff is gone. My inventory is exactly like it was before I looted that body. My question is was this a glitch or was his gear hacked?

Okay I guess I should have waited longer. Now I'm filled with regret :(.

I've yet to go up there. I have two other friends who play with me a lot so we're gearing up to head there soon. Hopefully we'll survive.

Please read the whole story before you comment! So here it goes: I was switching servers with my friends because they were lagging pretty bad. We all went in the back corner of the mart in Elektro and aborted. We eventually found a server we could all join (which has been a pain since the update). My friend got in before me, and there were a couple of guys already in the mart on this server. They opened fire and my friend started shooting as well. He got away but they were still in the mart. I had a feeling I was in trouble. As my screen was fading away from the black (after the setup completed screen), I saw I already had the hourglass on my screen. They'd shot me as I spawned in (before I could move or see or do anything). So I decided to try alt+f4. It transported me to some random empty area. I aborted and got back in and respawned on the beach with all my gear. Now IMO this was fair for me to do. I got shot before I could defend myself. I got killed later and didn't alt+f4 or anything, just died. I don't agree with people doing it but I honestly don't feel bad about this at all. Also I'm pretty sure one of the two guys in the mart where we spawned alt+f4ed after my friend killed him legitly. EDIT: Apparently this isn't a valid reason for using alt+f4. I came on here to hear people's opinions. I really don't feel that bad about it still but I won't do it again.

Yeah I'm server hopping because I was lagging? Honestly not everyone can play to all these self righteous "hardcore" players standards. If the devs had a problem with people occasionally switching servers they would put something in the game to fix it. I don't have all day to find the perfect server and it's become even harder to find servers with the new update. Especially with three other people hanging out with me. By being an asshole and posting a worthless reply you bumped my "waste of a thread". Maybe if so many of the people in this forum weren't such dicks the discussion would be better. I thought this forum would be good but it's turned out to just be a never ending flame war between people saying the game is too hard and everyone else with worthless replies like QQ and crymore and shit like that. Then there's people bitching about KoS or alt+f4 or server hopping. I wanted to have a discussion but I've given up. I think I'll just come on here if I run into a problem. Have fun with your pointless flame wars.

Yeah I would have done the same. It's not the other player's fault. I wish the game would have some way to make the situation a little more fair. Obviously me spawning out of the blue and shooting instantly wouldn't be fair. Maybe they know I'm coming but can't shoot until I can? Idk... I'll just make sure to abort in a safer spot next time.

Yeah I realize that now. I guess my main problem was I had absolutely no chance to defend myself. I was dead before I really even spawned. We joined a low pop server (like 15 people) so I guess I figured the odds were in my favor. Won't happen again haha...

I just picked up a crossbow on the outskirts of Elektro (and a 1911). I'm sure when I spawn in later to play with friends I'll run into some bandits. I know the crossbow is good against infected but what would be a better option in PvP? If I miss with the crossbow and the player sees me I'm fucked. But I heard the 1911 got nerfed because of the Arma patch, so that might not be very good either.

Yeah I meant what should I have out when I'm looting in Elektro. I guess I'll keep the 1911 out and if I can sneak up on someone pull out the crossbow.

Yeah that's what I thought. I'll hold on to it until I find a better weapon. Which would you use, the 1911 or crossbow (PvP)?

That's hilarious anyways... i was in a building in Elektro with my buddy and I ran around a corner and saw a guy crouched with a hatchet. I ran back really quick. He didn't move so we think he may have been AFK. We didn't want to leave him to come back and hatchet us so I killed him with a headshot from the Enfield.

I spawned in the control tower in near Balota and when downstairs to find a guy. It was like a 15 persons server though.

I think the point was to stop people from doing that. The game is supposed to be hard. I'd just find the nearest building and jump off (in game, not in real life haha).

Why the fuck are you being such an asshole? He's just interested. Honestly if you don't care and just want to be bittert don't post and shut the hell up. And as for how much they've made, well considering the best sale they've had on steam was like $18 (at least recently), and it's the top selling game, I'm sure it's quite a lot.

So I just started playing Dayz earlier today, and it seems impossible. I played for about 2 hours and never even found a weapon. I spawn and I have no idea where I am or where to go. I always find buildings but I only seem to find axes and flares. I usually play on regular servers. Does anyone have any tips? I honestly think the most frustrating part is the "zeds". They are wayyyy faster and more coordinated than most zombies I've seen in other games/movies/tv. Plus they have really good hearing. So I usually end up spawning, sneaking around, finding nothing, and eventually getting a cut and slowly bleeding out. I know its me and not the game, because plenty of people are awesome at this. And I'm usually not bad at games either. Basically could someone give me hints at what to do once I spawn so I can actually get into the fun parts of the game? Any help would be hugely appreciated!
