If the devs do so, it'll be 'illegal' to act the way OP mentioned. Until then, it's not. I understand the way you think and feel, and if I was playing DayZ in a situation like that, I'd agree. But still: It's a game. A virtual entertainment software. And even with the "zombie survival king" DayZ, it remains as fun as the player wants it to be. Logging out in tight spots might be cheap and foolish, but it's a game after all. Haha, I'm not fully defending him! I can feel the pain in every honest DayZ player, reading the opening post. If any person has some personal honour, they act in certain ways. But people without honour in games act like that. :) I just think everyone in this thread is wasting their energy. If OP wants to combat-log, let him. Why is it any concern to you? Everyone just move along, play the game honourable or not, whatever way you want!

Where is that official "DayZ proper behavior codex" everyone is forced to follow? What? There's none? Oh my... DayZ is a game. A pretty game with flaws, allowing scumbags to successfully be scumbags. Isn't that just like real life? Except for the fact that in games, nobody gets hurt for real? Let OP log out of fights if he thinks it'll save him forever, and don't let him raise your inner rage. He's playing the game in a dirty way, and that's his decision. If everyone else plays DayZ "properly by the codex", then hooray for you, honourable knights. :)

I use "Better DS3" as a driver emulator for my PS3 controller. I just plug in the controller, it's being recognized by the program, and in the program I set its settings on "PS3 controller" - voilá, it works just like it should! You can also fully configure the controller, set sensitivities and even reset keys. Here's the link to "Better DS3"'s website. There's also a very similiar program named "MotioninJoy", but its disadvantage is that you get annoying online ads popping up every now and then. The funny thing is that you actually need "MotioninJoy"'s drivers for "Better DS3" to work. It's the same system, but DS3 has a more friendly and ad-free UI. :)

I think you have to run ArmA 2 once before installing DayZ. If I remember correctly, the first start-up places/creates some game files which are necessary for everything to run.

I partially agree, however you could still make "an effort" and read whatever Zee posted there. For he's not going to print that post onto the first page of a book he's going to sell. Plus, he's placing commas and punctuation marks properly, so he's actually making an effort compared to whoever roams blogs and social platforms these days. :)

That's what it's all about. Unless you want tons of threads and posts of an Indian master of the dark arts to propose you ways to tell your fate by cards after forwarding $100 towards them, you just bear with it. All of the forum users do profit from such restrictions, so please bear with them. Maybe watch a fun video or listen to some music while you wait for the timer? I am sure you can handle a bit of a wait. :)

And I'm sure all the server owners saw this thread and will go "Hmmm, FrostDMG's right. We better shut it all down right away.". :P Like I said: Some players might want to have the fast pacing and/or other custom rules and settings. If those modified servers went down, they might put together modified server themselves, and not much would've changed. If regular DayZ is too hard for some players to enjoy it, it's obvious they'll look for servers that seem easy to regular players. What else do you expect? If you paid for the DayZ SA and find out the common game's too much for you to handle, you don't quit playing outright, but instead look for ways to still enjoy the game - be it finding a group/clan or playing on servers with different settings. DayZ is quite helpful at that point, as other games might not be so easily shaped to a certain player group's needs. Like I said: Live and let live. Play on normal or hardcore servers if you're into that, but leave players who want the game to be easy to their own servers. Wishing for "weak" players to just quit the game altogether hurts the entire playerbase at the end of the day - and especially Bohemia Interactive. ;)

I guess some DayZ players want a faster pacing in the process of looting and all? No KoS might be useful for new players too to learn the ropes or to form a gang - after all, you can only get to know another survivor if there's not a bullet in your head. :P You don't have to play on servers you don't like, so just avoid them. Shouting at them from the server list and on here will most likely not change anything anyway.

I haven't played the DayZ mod two weeks after I registered (August 2012), but I do think the actual "essence" of DayZ is still there. However the fact that this game got a big hype quickly twists and turns the charme and possibilities of the mod. The huge amount of players getting started with DayZ most likely turned into a "You friendly?"-fest at first. However, as the mod turned into a phenomenom, groups evolved among the "unnamed players", and had themselves advertised on both the DayZ forums and somewhere else. If you are playing DayZ, be it mod or standalone, it might be safe to say that any player already chose a team, clan or anything else he is a part of. Basic, newcomer players might join DayZ mod and SA and are either annected to any group, because there's no chance to survive by yourself now, or hunted and shot as "easy prey". DayZ might've been an even bigger event if there weren't any forums around, forcing players to seek contact to players and groups ingame. But right now, any whatsoever-group can have its thread posted in the DayZ forums and gather a party. Which is a big mistake in my opinion, as the "first encounter" experience you tried to explain in your post is very important to both group-binding and the roleplay DayZ tries to deliver.
